hi all,(newbie)

just bought a 04 getz, changed the battery, now asking for a radio code. searched the forums, and managed to take the stereo out, using x2 steel rulers.
now i need the radio code and how to enter it.
model is mp3-01
i cant see the serial number, but here is the barcode
(01) 1 880 912179 001 7 (21) xx xx xxxx
on the bottom it has a sticker
"autonet audio services australia pty ltd repair function check"
no phone numbers or anything else, except a tick in boxes
tuner ok
cassette ok
cd ok
cdc ok
output ok....02/02/05

anyone help?....im not paying the local dealer $30 to give me the code, its a bloody rip....they wanted $55 to take the unit out!

cheers
peter

all sorted, just ring as many dealers as you can, and eventually you will find one that will be happy to help and NO CHARGE for the code.
PS - serial number removed, but the serial number for the stereo is the last 8 numbers on the barcode after number (21)
(21) xxxxxxxx

cheers

Hi Blackscoobydo

I don't suppose you remember which dealer gave you the code for nothing?
Have just changed the battery and can't find the card with radio code anywhere.

Thanks

Hi just disconnect the glove box and go through the back and unplug the lead to the steering wheel then push a thin metal piece through the front between the clips and do the same to the other side and it comes out like butter. The get the barcode and the far right hand side write down the last four digits then ad 1212 to them and thats your code (eg: 1234 becomes 2446. Just press the number 1 button and keep pressing until the number 2 comes up and continue for the next 3 buttons until you have entered your code. then press 5 and your are laughing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Krissy you are a legend, I tried your 1212 formula tonight and worked perfectly. I have a getz 2002 fx model, the barcode/number was on the top surface of the radio so I didn't need to disconnect anything just pulled out enough to read the numbers and put back in.

I just used some thin kitchen knives on each side to pull the radio out which worked ok.

G'day All,

I have the card with code for the radio, but every time I enter the code I get error codes. The manual says if, for example my number is 3212, press preset 1, 3 times and so on and so on. My problem is I press preset 1, 3 times yet I only get 2, what am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance.

Happy Australia Day Aussies!!!!!!!!!

P.S. I tried the thin knives but to no avail.

have you tried pressing it 4 times, the first push is usually for 0 (zero) so 3 would need four pushes.

Hi

I am hoping someone can help me without asking me to remove the fuse or battery. Basically I have locked myself out after attempting to enter my security code 3 times. I am wondering if the the serial number is strictly 8 digits or if the nine digits I was given by the dealership after losing my security code card will have the same last 4 digits to use as the security code.

Any help would be great basically I'm lazy and don't want to pull the unit out if I can help it.

Kim.
