I am about to get the Genesis Coupe. It comes with the Auto Down/Up window feature.
Which means that as soon as the door detects that it is being opened, the window will drop down slightly (about half an inch) to clear a "lip" at the top of the door so that you can open it.
When you close the door again, the window will automatically roll back up into the "lip" at the top of the window frame to make a tight seal.
I'm told this is to reduce cabin noise on the highway.
My question is would this feature not be so good in the winter? I mean if your windows freeze and then the window tries to automatically roll down to clear that top "lip", but it cannot come down due to freeze, what happens? Will the door be unable to be opened? Will the window mechanism get damaged?
Normally in winter if the temperature is below freezing, I never roll down my windows to prevent damaging something.
What do you guys think? Has anyone had any problems with this technology on other cars that have the same feature?
