NOTE: V7 to be released 2/17 w/special $99 promotion!
Starting February 17 through June 30, take advantage of our special $99 map update promotion (regularly $199). Save valuable time and reduce your fuel costs by having the latest roads and points of interest.
Tried to get it today but, "out of stock," she told me, callback later. Charge is is $99.00 now. So why announce it. So many Azeras around they cannot keep up with demand, Hah!
Okie the last update for the sonata was 2012, so I would say the azera could be something like that. These updates don't come out often every 2 years I believe was said on another thread here.
The sonata update goes live on the 17 as well. The promo goes from Feb 17 to June. Went from v5 to v7 so I would say that's a pretty good update.
I'm going to update my sonata nav when the sale goes live. I bought mine and still running v3 or something lol.
Whenever Mapnsoft comes out with their new update they offer it at half price for a few months. I got V5 back in Nov 2012 and it was a big upgrade from the previous one. I'm going to get this new one V7 when we go in for service.
Yes the look and features got much better along with adding PSL for highways. I hope the new one adds PSL for all roads along with GPS speed and Temp. Here are sone pictures of the old V5.
Starting 2/17/2014 - 6/30/2014 the newest Navigation Map Update, Version 7 or 7U03, is 1/2 price selling for $99 ($111.43 total w/ground shipping and 8GB USB stick which you can keep and reuse after a successful navigation update).
I ordered mine today. I will let you know what it changes if anything. Our Elantra will be going from the original 2011 factory map update. We did not get the one available last year so this newest update should be worth getting.
Let's hope it doesn't break anything like the outside temp sensor reading it did on last years update.
I'm driving a GT; anyone know if this update is the same needed for the GT? Under the search map function its not even listed there.
Mods: I was going to create a thread in the GT section but I am starting to see multiple threads on the v7 update. Let me know if my inquiry is best suited to the GT subforum in a new thread.
Anyone who does this let us know how it goes. I remember the early adopters to V5 lost the outside temp feature until a patch came out a few weeks later. I'm still on V4 and interested in an update, but not at the expense of lost features.
No each section does not need its own thread. These threads will likely all be merged into a general section thread later today since they are not vehicle specific.
Seems Mapnsoft has changed their update cycle from every 2 years to every year. This was copied from their website today.
"The roads and POIs in North America are changing about 25% every year.
You can trust your navigation system to keep you on track with regular map updates. You can get the best route, the closest gas station, the nearest hospital. HYUNDAI MNSOFT provides newest map updates on regular basis once a year. Customers can order their updates using our secure web site directly or by ordering from our customer service representative over the phone.
(Note : Some of map updates may require you to visit a dealer for installation)"
Seems like a money thing to me. Now you pay $198 every 2 years like they wanted you to in the first place. They key is not to update every year or if ever I guess and always buy when it's half price.
Well, I stand corrected re my comment on the related thread where I opined the next Sonata map upgrade wouldn't be available until later this year. I should have checked the MapnSoft website first.
The installation is relatively simple although I had to also obtain and install a software patch later to remedy the disappearing outside temp problem caused by a glitch in the previous update which affected certain models.
If the dealer charges for installation, I would suggest ordering directly from MapnSoft and self-install. If the car is due for service/maintenance anyway and the dealer would install for free, I would likely choose that route.
Do not buy the upgrade. There is no change. Only the version number is changed to keep up with the times. There is absolutely no changes from version 6. No new POI, map data or anything at all. Absolutely nothing!! Don't waste your money unless you are coming from v4 or v5.
Confirmed through mapnsoft today. I messaged them today about it and this is what they advised me
I don't use navigation to go to any places newer than a few years, so whatever my 2013 shipped with still works for me. But if v8 will be out in a few months, I'll just wait for that.
I placed my order today (technically, yesterday since it is now after midnight). The shipping is outrageous - $12.35 for FedEx ground on an 8GB USB drive.
I probably won't upgrade my map unless they allow me to download it and install myself. No reason they should insist on charging for the flash drive unless it's to make money.

Wow. For me it's $10.25 and home delivery is $12.35
Wonder what's the difference.
