not sure how to describe this, but I'll try.
I am looking for something to protect the rear bumper area where you lift things into the back to avoid having the plastic on the bumper getting scratched or dinged or ripped. many vehicles have rubber or aluminum or metal to protect the finish and I was wondering if there is a rubber mat or something that can be used to protect the area of the bumper when moving things in and out of the back thru the hatch.

I checked the local dealerships and they said this part was nowhere to be found. I then checked amazon.ca and they had one left. so I bought it. I found a number of "universal" type products but I went with the OEM because it is a high quality product and is made for this specific model. I really think this should come as standard equipment and it is by no means a cheap part to have to buy and install after the fact.

I like the clear protective film on our Genesis. Looks SO much nicer than the black ones, like factory because it is :)

the bumper protection part was delivered today, and I didnt' waste any time getting it installed., however the car is already three years old so I can't really see what all the rush was about. anyhoo.. it is a solid piece of high quality plastic like material. it covers the top of the bumper , around the corner and part way down the bumper. it is a pretty long piece and protects the entire length of the hatch opening. my car is silver so the black oem part looks very nice with the silver. the instructions that came with the part were very well documented. and no tools were required. I just dumped some ISO alcohol on the bumper and wiped it off with a micro fibre cloth. the method of adhesion and placement was not a just peel and stick show. oh no. it was much more involved, and frankly I was a little nervous about it because it actually required you to stick the piece down and adhere the ends BEFORE removing all of the remaining peel, and I thought gee this is sort of counter intuitive. however, I had faith since the instructions seemed to be so clear and I just rolled with it. i guess you can tell that I'm not the most mechanically inclined customer, however I am pleased to say I did it right the first time and I am proud of myself. it looks great! and now I've finally been able to cover up the very minor but annoying couple of scuff marks gained over the years. now the bumper looks brand new and is well protected. I really think that every car should have this before it ever leaves the dealer because it is just too easy to scrape the bumper with things moving in and out of the hatch. sure you can throw a towel over the bumper before moving anything, but a bumper protector built in is really what you need.
