Looking for a retractable cargo screen for 2016 Elantra GT GL

Hello everyone!

I just recently bought myself a 2016 Elantra GT GL. Pretty happy with it thus far.

However, the first thing I have come across which I really dislike is the cardboard-like cargo cover.

I am hoping that some of you are aware of the dimensions or where I can purchase a retractable cargo screen.

I've already bonked my head on the damned thing twice while getting groceries and I find that as nice as it is for the contents of my trunk to not be visible I just really can't stand the stock cardboard cover.

I've looked around thus far quite a bit and come across models for other vehicles but nothing I can be certain will work for my car.

Help?

I doubt you're gonna find one for the GT. It's such a small area to cover and the edge is curved to match the hatch. It is removable, though. But mostly, just give yourself time to get used to it being there and you won't hit your head anymore. Muscle memory has to develop! ;-)

I have a friend who owns a Prius, we were loading stuff in to her car last night and I took a look at the cargo cover. It is made from fabric, looks very similar in size to the cover on my Elantra GT. Maybe you could get one from a salvage yard and adapt it for your car. You might have to trim it a bit, or maybe there would be some small gaps but it might work, just a thought.

^^ I'd like to think so. My hatch struts are acting lazy...even lazier in the cold. last week, the hatch latch and my forehead collided... my forehead lost. Thankfully, the edges are a bit rounded... or stitches might have been in order.

To the OP.... finding a retractable roller cargo screen that fits the shape (even generally), the correct width for the roller mounts across the hatch width, and rigging some kind of retainer hook for it when extended.... sounds like an minor engineering project.

Your struts will be covered by warranty. One of mine was leaking fluid and the dealer covered that.
