Everyone go out, find a truly flat stretch of road with no traffic, and figure your 0-60 time. NO rolling starts, NO bluffing, NO downhill lies.

Then figure out your altitude if possible (this WILL effect things). Also try and estimate the amount of extra weight in your car (extra passengers, gear etc.)

I had myself (200 lbs) 1 other passenger (160) and maybe 100 lbs of stuff. I was at 32 feet above sea level, on a COMPLETELY FLAT AND STRAIGHT ROAD.

I got 10.27 seconds.

Lol, honestly with how bad my mileage has been, I bet I didn't even hit 10 mpg during that romp!! Decided it was high time I try and at least have some fun with my GT. By the way, I had it at the dealership where I bought it, and they cannot figure out the sounds or issues. I took them with me on a drive to point things out, and showed them my horrible economy. They spent over an hour trying to figure it out, but no luck. They told me I'm gonna have to deal with a Certified Hyundai mechanic, which was my original plan, but they didn't have any openings for awhile.

I don't have a stop watch for parts of a second... lol

But not surprised at the initial result posted - don't doubt it for a minute.

I would like to see a acceleration comparison between the 1.8 and 2.0 engines - or maybe not since I have the lower HP 1.8 - lol
any maybe the MT vs AT in both sized engines.

I have a bone stock 1990 Miata that I am sure beats my GT by a good bit 0-60 and is only 115 HP... but lighter weight for sure.

I know it has issues, and it's scheduled to be checked out at the dealership. It's a 130 mile round trip that I already made once just to be told my appointment didn't get put in the books, but its gotta be done. I'm only getting 17-19 mpg in town, and it has some noises that need to be checked out. The dealership where I bought it (Nissan) couldn't figure anything out, and said I needed to go to a certified Hyundai mechanic, which I figured, but the trip was so much further. Does anyone know if the CD player is under warranty? It doesn't read CD's, just clicks rapidly then says mechanism error.

Does it count if you "brake boosted" it? I'm uploading a video to YouTube so ill have the link shortly...It wasn't "brake boosted" anyways...

I see you have the k&n air intake... Is it truly worth getting or should I just buy a drop in filter?

2013 Hyundai Elantra GT 0-60 Video

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lg_BO-ZJdU8

Here's my video of my 0-60...not the best but just had a short opportunity to do it. I was only one driving (140lb) and maybe another 20lb (If that) scattered around the car in added weight. Estimated time: 10.42sec (Done with the video)

Also if you would subscribe that would be cool!!!

I know I can go faster than this with less gas in the car and maybe better off the line start...

Not bad at all man! Nice to know my car is right there where it should be as far as power. I could probably lower mine as well if I did it again without 100 pounds of stuff and a passenger. I had little over half a tank when I did it. But me being at sea level boosts my times. Only difference is my avg mpg readout on dash lol, mine is never that high!

Yup I forgot to mention that I was about 590 feet above sea level. I'll post back here when I get a chance to do it again!!:grin2:

All this talk about fast cars. I shed a little tear when I think back to my younger years (and I am only 35) when I had a 79 Trans Am with a 7.4L engine. 455ci H0. For anyone who knows it was supposed to have a 6.6L but mine was upgraded by the original owner. That car was fast. Good thing I didn't kill myself in it.

It's been raining here (no surprise) so will try later this week. I also miss former wheels, most notably my last Miata, a 2005 fully stock Mazdaspeed in Lava Orange. Color and leather option wasn't even available in Canada so I found it in Seattle with 3,000 miles. Sold it at 11,000 miles...idiot! Big regrets every spring! Live and learn I suppose.

Curious how the MT will score on the 1.8L. Stay tuned.

my favourite car I have owned... a 1980 Camaro Berlinetta... bought nearly new in 1981.... I drove it for 15 years. Raised 2 kids and fit them in.
These photos are 30 years ago....

Best car I owned was a '99 Acura TL... my first brand new car. Over 13 years old in that photo.. just before I sold it in 2012 to buy the GT.

Gotta say, ... it wasn't love at first sight as those 2 others were... but the GT is growing on me. I bought it for the price and packed full of features.... and hopefully reliability as my previous cars were. And the styling appealed to me more than others I looked at.
