hyundai not paying fuel rebate

I went to claim my fuel rebate and I got told because I had done over 20000kms I would not get my fuel rebate.

Talk about using small print to back out of paying for lies that were made about my cars mileage when I bought it.

They claim that they have the right to take away the fuel rebate if the customer does not claim within 20000kms . They also claim that takes away fuel rebate for life.

Once again Hyundai goes out of their way to provide bad service and drive customers to other car companies.

I did make a claim last year and got paid. They told me to come back next year and I did. But since my car had done more than 20000 since the last time they now say they have the right to refuse for life.

Is this a policy a company that is service orientated would write into the small print?

Interesting. I did read that you must file a claim once a year. Never saw the 20K disclaimer. Not doubting you. I'll have to go back in their website and re-read the policy, again.

Add: The ONLY 20k reference I saw when reading the rules stated on the website was the use of that mileage number as an "example" for you to understand the reimbursement. Not sure who you talked to, but I would sure start calling someone else at Hyundai. Were you at the dealer? Has it been over a year since you last filed? And the "over a year" was just a reference where they "encourage owners" not that the owner HAD TO file within that time frame. You need to investigate this a little further.

Send me the page, link, passage, reference, name of the individual or department you talked to, something besides "you were told..." Who told you this? If it was the dealer, I wouldn't be surprised a bit. Some dealers have lots of misinformation they like to disseminate and distribute among the owners. I'm just curious. I've had two Elantras. Traded one in. Collected mileage on that one. Now collecting mileage on the new one.

Rich, the deadline changed -- per FAQs:
Quote:
You must register on this website by December 31, 2013 to participate in the Hyundai Fuel Economy Reimbursement Program.
Canada may have different rules, but I haven't seen anything here about miles driven.

Canada FAQs say: "Hyundai recommends customers apply for a new card annually or every 20,000 km."

I'd push back, it's a recommendation, not a requirement.

ETA: I'd also look around even if they point to something as proof. The USA site has multiple conflicting statements - like, how often you can get compensation, and when the deadline is. And I remember reading that the calculation was based on rolling 12 months -- and now it says average 2012 regional prices. I should have taken screen shots, I did not expect things to change. And other than the 11/2/12 memos, things are not dated, and there's no footnote identifying changes to the original documents.

This was in Canada at a Hyundai dealer. I was told he wasn't even going to submit my fuel claim because I had broken the 20000km rule. He then submitted it saying that he didn't expect Hyundai to pay it. He also bullied me into using their service department by saying if I had been getting regular care for my car in their dealership this problem would have not happened. I explained they had told me to come back in a year for the fuel rebate. He said if I had been using their dealership for service I would have been warned I was getting close to going over 20000 kms.

Then, to straighten this out and correctly understand it, your problem isn't with Hyundai's Fuel Reimbursement Program as you alleged, but with that misinformed and discourteous dealer representative you encountered. You didn't break a 20K rule. And the guy that told you this should be drawn and quartered. What? He's paying the reimbursement out of his pay check? Another reason people build a mistrust for car dealers.

Now, this makes perfect sense. Shoot the messenger, in this case: the dealer's representative. NOT Hyundai, Inc. Your post title, when I first read it, inferred and suggested it was Hyundai that wronged or cheated you. And it isn't. I'm trusting that you will probably get your card in 15-20 days, possibly sooner. I sincerely hope so.

EDIT: I see where you posted this on the GT forum, also? Blaming Hyundai? Seriously?
