hyundai not paying fuel rebate

I went to claim my fuel rebate and I got told because I had done over 20000kms I would not get my fuel rebate.

Talk about using small print to back out of paying for lies that were made about my cars mileage when I bought it.

They claim that they have the right to take away the fuel rebate if the customer does not claim within 20000kms . They also claim that takes away fuel rebate for life.

Once again Hyundai goes out of their way to provide bad service and drive customers to other car companies.

I may be approaching 20K more kms since my first rebate. Clearly not there yet... but coming up.

is that a limit of 20,000 kms at any time... or just the first 20K?

pretty shabby of them to limit the rebate based on mileage.... I knew about the 12 month limit between rebates. I sugest maybe try and appeal via Hyundai Canada. Nothing to lose.

He says at any time you don't claim before you go over 20000 your rebate it void for life.

according to him I claimed at 11700 the first year which was fine but voided my rebate by driving more than 20000 between claims. So I will receive nothing for the 34000 kms I drove in the past year. He says next year I cant claim as I have been cut off rebates now.

Dang... thats nasty. I also got my first rebate about 12,000 kms in June... now almost 29,000. You can roll it up fast when on a trip (I just did a 5000 km trip)... and I don't pass by the dealer very often...

Thanks for the heads up. You may have helped/ reminded some others here besides me.

warpdriv, better jump over to the MD side and read his post over there. It was the dealer that told him this nonsense. NOT Hyundai, Inc. Although his post would infer that Hyundai is refusing to pay him. At this point in time, they haven't. And they probably won't refuse to pay him. As far as I'm concerned, this is much ado about nothing.

No sense in getting all worked up into a foaming lather for no reason.

yamari, I initially planned on merging your topics here but as they both contain the same thing, I have instead deleted the one you posted in the MD forum.

I agree with the consensus that this is your dealer giving you the shaft and not Hyundai and it sounds like he's doing it to get you to come to his shop for your services more often so he can pay for his kids' college. I can understand your frustration but cross-posting the same topic over several forums will earn you more enemies than friends as sympathy turns to annoyance.

Stand up straight, dry your eyes, re-read the fine print here (where you'll see there is no worded 20,000 km limit) and visit another dealer to get your voucher.

The relevant quote was in the other thread:
Quote:
"Current owners will be able to apply for a new pre-paid credit card at any time for as long as they own the vehicle. Hyundai recommends customers apply for a new card annually or every 20,000 km."
Recommends, not requires.

Hyundai sure made this more hassle than it needed to be. The original rules (since changed to recommendations) seem to have come from not wanting to process small claims. For comparison, LG sends my sister a check for $6 every three months, to pay for electricity caused by a miserable design error, the refrigerator light stays on.

Individual processing must waste a lot of admin costs, not to mention time. Couldn't Hyundai just read our odometers remotely and send out checks a few times a year? A BlueLink reading is not 100% real time, but if they picked a date and read the odometer, it would be closer than what Hyundai did to me. I registered in October, the day before my second scheduled dealer visit. Hyundai had my estimated odometer reading, and presumably had access to my scheduled visit and to a remote reading, but they sent a card based on last April's reading, about 1/3 the miles. Why bother asking for my odometer reading, if they ignore discrepancies that large?

I already hate rebate debit cards. It makes my credit report look like I've been applying for more credit.
