That's just cover-their-butt language if the USB doesn't initialize properly or for some reason becomes corrupted due to a unusual transient. You know, the "close all applications before doing setup" kind of recommendation.

I've had a USB stick sitting in my car for tens of starts and it works fine. I wouldn't put mission-critical data on it though.

thanks for confirming.

Also I think the GT has an internal memory (My Music) where you can save your songs.
Does that come only with Nav? Do you copy directly from the USB to the internal memory?

Just to amplify, I think it holds something around 600MB. It works well for the situation where you're playing a song from USB and decide you want to save it in My Music to slowly build up a collection of stuff you really like. But, as said, there is no batch copy. And it doesn't copy from CD. It probably will work on songs playing from a phone or iPod. Haven't tried that yet.

I'd guess this an additional constraint in addition to storage size that would seldom be reached.

What? They do come on automatically, that's the point of the DRLs. Are you referring to starting your car, not moving, and waiting for your lights to come on? If that's the case, just release your e-brake and they'll automatically come on. No need to turn on your parking lights.

I guess he has the Elantra with the "DRL OFF" stalk. Some (?) Elantras in the US have a stalk with DRL OFF, parking lights, headlamps, so for them there is no way to drive with the DRL without parking lights. If you look in the manual they describe the OFF position (DRL OFF position).

I have the DRL OFF stick also.. There are ones without that? What gives.. Is this a Canada/USA thing or does it differ in the US across different trims? I gotta test em tomorrow.
