Simple question. Where is the brake fluid reservoir on a Hyundai H100 (2001)? The warning light has started to flash depending on the road slope etc (for the first time in six years) but I can't find the reservoir! Can anyone clue me in?

Sorry to have bothered you! Sorted!

Hi everyone,
Well, its my first big trip in my 1998 H100 and 4 days in I'm nursing a flat battery. I managed to start the van buy bridging the engine battery (showing 11.6v) with house batteries (I've conevrted it to a camper) to get it running but only really have 1 or 2 more cold starts in the house batteries and cranking is not good for those batteries.
Unfortunatly I don't have a workshop manual to refer too, but I'm reasonibly compitent with fixing old cars (this is my first "modern" car and first diesel).
Taking a peak under the "hood" I can see a couple of ancilliary belt drive devices. The upper is driven by a double belt and looks like it has a hydraulic connection on the back (power steering pump??) the other down low has the characteristic fan behind the pulley, which looks like it will need to be accessed from below.
Obviously I need to get in there and have a good look for loose connections and fixings etc, but looking online at replacement parts (after recovering from the shock of the price) the pic's I find show the hydraulic fitting on the back of the atlernator.
So, My questions are:
1, What is this thing on the back of what might be the alternator? If not the alternator is this the powersteering pump?
2, There is what looks like a small relay box in the back of the battery compartment, what does this do? Should I be checking something in there?
3, Other than checking mounting & connection to the alternator is there anything else that people would suggest before I start getting carried away with my roadside repairs?
Many thanks.

Hi Guys,
Does anyone have an exploded view of the alternator for the H100 alternator ? I also need to know how to reolace the brushes. The alternator stopped working and when I removed it I see its full of oil and grease. The slip rings and brushes as well. Do you think this could be the problem ?

hi guys, Since it's a quite sunny and hot here in the Metro we usually` install tint in our cars, You guess it all "blacked out" even at the front windshield, so I installed a 90/100 H4 bulb, minutes later LH side headlight got busted, cause is LH fuse breaks, installed one and it's ok, Question is :is it ok to upgrade wiring to put some relay to accommodate higher watt bulbs?

hi all, 2 wks ago my van wouldnt start, i was parked on a hill, so i rolled down it - and hey ho it started wonderfully, i drove for 20 mins to my next ob and parked it on a hill close to the job.when i turned the engine off, and back on again it started! when i had done my job and came back out it didnt start....so i kept starting on hills or push starting it, then i took it into my garage and was told i needed 2 new glow plugs! i paid the garage for 2 new glow plugs to be fitted! when done, the garage rang and told me it still wasnt starting "right", i asked what that meant and basically was told "the glow plugs dont seem to be heating up for long enough. the mechanic then said he didnt really know what the problem was.
it starts when its push started only, it turns over rather sluggishly, but the battery is fine.
should i get a compression test? injectors cleaned? if theres a problem with the starter motor, why does the vehicle start after a push start/long run- then starts on key?
can anybody advise a course of action before i lose my job...
thanx

Hi, I just got my 2004 Starex Van TDIC, and found out the next morning battery was dead, I ask a friend to tow me to the nearest battery shop to check my "almost" new battery, and found out that my alternator was hanging without the tensioner bolt.
The culprit was the aluminum oil cooler bracket hole that hold the alternator was already loose( to big and oval) it went a lot of work to my friend shop to remove the darn thing. Almost made total overhaul to the engine to remove/ replace the aluminum oil pump bracket. And guess what ?a new replacement isn't cheap either,
What seems to be the problem is that the hole is all aluminum, it doesn't have a bushing or any sort to prevent it from getting bigger, And I don't tend to buy one since it's too expensive,
So what I did start using my shop trusty Tig/ Aluminum to build up the large hole, inserted aluminum square rods and build up the bracket hole, and inserted a 1/2 dia bushing. that has a 3/8 i.d. : And guess what? it's better than buying a new one, and saves me worry free driving in the future.

Yes i said it right, My H100 suspention makes me sea sick! it is so bloody soft and bouncy that on speed bumps or country roads its quite dangerous, i'll be driving along then little bump in road on country lane will catapult me into a random area of the road. even at 20MPH. is there a way to stiffen the susp without comprimising reliability. Also its not just mine that does this is it??

Hi everyone,
I'm new here and English is not my native language, so I hope my question will be clear..
I hav a H-200 Van, which resembles de H-100, from 2000. I noticed oil leaking in the front and was able to locate the leak. Apparently, the oil cooler pipes are worn down and need to be changed. Do I need to remove the front of the van in order to change the pipes? If so, does anyone know how to proceed ?
Thanks

thanks for the help with the brakes last time, fixed them no problems.
For the past few days the check engine light on the dash has been coming on after the engine warms up, for a start it comes on when in gear and flashes off when i press the clutch to change gear. Then after a while it stays on permanently, i could feel it being a bit sluggish to pick up speed when i had changed gear so i thought it was a fuel flow problem but i changed the filter and bled it through and that made no difference. i was thinking maybe it was the gear oil level and would like to know how to check this and how to top it up. ie where the place to fill it is. if anyone has the manual any pics would be appreciated.
i checked in the users manual which came with the van and it says this light only applies to petrol models. any ideas???
thanks in advance

So yesterday i was driving along, when suddenly i had to brake really hard ... Someone in front of me decided he wanted to turn ... So with lot of sliding and tire smoke i came to a halt, not hitting anything. So i drove off, but from that moment my brakes were just simply gone ...
It's like when you start the engine, the first few seconds you can't push in the brake pedal, well it's like that the entire time now ...
Any ideas ?? All help is appreciated !!!

Hi, I have a H1 2.5TDi van here in France, it's not unusual to find one here, but have big problems after only 3.5yrs use and only 63 000km(41 000 miles) driven
At 2000rpm in all gears there is a huge peak in vibration which makes the body vibrate like am driving over pebbles on the road
The mecanics at the garage cannot put their finger on the problem, but I think it's a drive train problem... engine at 2000, clutch pedal pressed, and still in 5th gear, vibrations go away
Other problems... terrible beam from the head lights... had to fit xenon Hid to see where I am driving.... build quality worse than a Fiat Mirafiori (1980s) .... fuel consumption.... best at 10L/100km (US 2.5 gallons for 62 miles) and worst at 15L/100km (US almost 4 gallons for 62 miles)
Best news so far.... Mitsubishi DB4F motor, and van was assembled in TURKEY.... that's why so many things are strange.... H1 discs, but Santa Fe calipers!!

Hello all, been away for a bit.
I just returned from Croatia where I took my H100 self built campervan. it was fine until...
Returning on the Austrian motorway the engine seemed to give a small leap and lost all power.
Recovery man took a quick listen, the starter seemed to spin easily without any resistance.
He diagnosed a snapped timing belt.
I`m now back in the UK via a hire car or two, and the van is (hopefully) being transported to my door as the AA recovery service deemed this quick diagnosis as enough to declare it uneconomical to repair. (They also didn`t want to transport it home either, mentioning helping me scrap it....!)
So, here`s my query.
How can I easily diagnose a broken belt? Will removing the upper timing cover do it?
If it has broken, what other damage might I expect, re valves piston and head?
I know it`s impossible to diagnose via a forum, but any examples of other instances wil help me build a picture of possible results.
Now.. here`s the kicker.
Two weeks before the trip I used a local garage to replace...............................
The timing belt!
Now this worked fine for a week, then on two occasions it started with a splutter, loads of black smoke, and mad fast/slow idling.
I took it back to the garage thinking they had the timing wrong, or it had slipped, they of course insisted it was spot on and advised a can of redex!
The trip started the day after, so i did as suggested and all seemd ok.
Now I know it wasn`t.
I believe if the belt has snapped I have legal recourse to rebuild by this garage, (not that Id trust it) but just possibly, it may not be the belts fault.
Can anyone think of anything that may cause a new belt to fail?
Thanks for reading,
Dave.

Hi, im new to the forum. Have recently purchased in Italy a H1 Hyundai van ( just a van not a mini van ! ) It drives ok a bit noisy but nothing I cannot live with. I have had two engine cutouts whilst on the motorway both times when decelerating and going from 5th to 4th gear, the engine just totally loses power no coughling spluttering or juddering, stars fine right after the van has come to a standstill. All the electrics stay on, has anyone got any ideas what this could be ?? Thanks in advance for any help given ! ( On a side note Can parts for the H100 be used on the H1 ?? ) Thanks Jon

Hi all,
Just picked up a second hand 2008 iMax with only 6000km on the dial.
Since I like to do the intermediate services on cars myself between the scheduled ones, I'm looking for info on specific parts that are compatible with this model (Imax 2.4L petrol, auto).
I would rather put in NGK spark plugs instead of the OEM crap, so does anyone know a compatible NGK plug? The conversion charts arent updated for this model yet it seems.
Also, what oil is best to use for fuel economy? Seems this model is VERY POOR on fuel economy. I'm close to double what they claim it should be.
Any other service/type/parts info is welcomed. The user manual is pretty crap compared to other car brands in this regard.

Hi guys, Im considering replacing my allmost dead 91 L300 with a diesel 98-02 h100.
Can anyone tell me the relationship between the L300 and the h100?
are the h100's running the mitsi motor/gbox?
Ive seen a few advertised as 2.5L and also 2.6L diesels
there seem to be a few electical gremlins with these h100's, anything else they suffer from? rust? leaky (oil) motors?
thanks

Need help with my Hyundai H1 -01, the generator broke and I need a new one..but I have a problem.
It seems like there are three diffrent kind of generators too choose from: 75, 90, 110 ahmpere.
I have made a lot of calls too diffrent repairshops and they think I have a 75 Ah in my car..but I can“t find that model too a reasonable price.
So, my question is:
Does a 90 ah generator fits on the attachment,or do I have to rebuil it to fit?
Sorry for my spelling..hope you understand what I mean =)

OK. I have recently purchased a 2001 H-1 van fitted with the 2476cc D4BH (TCi) engine.
And very nice it is too. However it does require a good service and some tlc .
So one of the tasks is to change all the belts. I have received parts to do the job from my Hyundai dealer. So I have started the job and got as far as the bottom part of the timing belt cover -
which will not come off!
So, looks like I have to remove the external drive belt pulley to do this. How do I proceed?
I have managed to glimpse inside the cover and to my surprise found that there are in fact 2 belts!
So, my dealer has not done a very good job in supplying me with only one belt and tensioner for a
vehicle that requires 2
Does anyone know where I can get a workshop manual?
Hope someone can help cos I've not been able to find out very much at all about these vehicles
- and I really need to be back on the road.
