Hope some one can explain. I have a new H-1 2.4 petrol, 9 seater. Fuel consumption is horrific. 5km per litre. I spoke to several other owners and they get anything between 8.5 to 10.2 km per litre. we been driving it very carefully. No hard driving what so ever. actually my wife drives it. we had several MPV's and this is the first one with horrific fuel consumption.
Took it to the dealer they say everything is fine, hooked it up to the PC and the PC said all is in order. I am not getting any joy here. it has only 16 000 km on the clock
Any ideas anyone?
hope someone can help or had a similar problem?

HI,
Please help me. I'm from the Philippines. My 2006 Hyundai Starex (H-1) GRX CRDi (Diesel Engine, Manual Tranny) was flooded seat deep last Sept 2009. From the advice of some mechanics, I had to buy and install a new ECU. But still, it won't start. The engine cranks up to the point that it seems it will start but it won't. (I BEG YOU!) please somebody help me, it's been 4 months and i can't still use it.

Hello all
Recently bought a H100 van 1999 STD 2.5TD model with 140,000 miles on the clock.
A few queries:
1) The gearbox is very notchy, had the oil levels checked and all seems ok - is this a common trait?
2) I think i've found the answer already in another post, but on occasion the engine seems to miss at constant revs (higher speed) and occasionaly cuts out when pulling to a standstill. The rev counter is erratic when this happens. Someone suggested air getting into the fuel system. Is it worth replacing the fuel and air filters?
3) Fuel gauge reads empty after around 50 miles but still loads of fuel left in it - returns to full when refilled. Would this be a sensor problem or a gauge problem?
4) How to I replace the glow plugs? Is it an easy job? I'm pretty confident with engines, but never worked on a deisel before.
5) Had the cambelt and tensioners replaced. On dismantling, the garage discovered the water pump was shot and pumping coolant all over the alternator belts and into the cambelt housing. One of the tensioner had seized and the balance shaft had snapped. The van had probably been driven like this for some time prior to me buying it. Everthing has been replaced now, but the fact the balance shaft belt had snapped, would this cause any long term damage to the engine?
6) Where is the air filter located?
7) Where is the fuel filter located and what is the process for replacing it?
Many thanks in advance for your time

I've recently purchased a second hand (1999) H100.
I need to replace the headlight bulb but cannot release the sidelight/indicator unit, forward,
in order to reach the headlamp unit.
What's the trick to doing this please? - are there hidden fixing clips?
It's very hard to see anything in detail from the underside.

Hi everyone, I have a 1998 H100 panel van.
I have a few problems that maybe someone can help with. First off I had a clown wiper motor, so got my sefl a second hand one at a scrap yard, which works fine, however to install the wiper motor I had to partial take the dashboard off on the left hand side, now after installing the motor I can't get the dash board to sit back into the its origianl position (i.e. flush with the van), I've tried loosening all mounting bolts to take tension off but so far no luck so I have a 2cm gap between the windscreen rubbers and the dash.
2nd While the wipers no work fine, I seem to have a problem with my linkage now, as the left wiper moves fine but the right one only occasionally moves, so everything gets jammed up! Not ideal really, so if any one has any experience with the linkage arms/wiper motor assembly on this vanit would be much appreciated.
Finally, before I begun installing the new wiper motor, but maybe moved some wires around, as soon as I turned the ignition on my REAR window washer pump was constantly on when i press the button for the washer it changed the tone of the pump but didn't stop it. So I'm trying to figure out the wiring system on the van, anyone know where would be the best place to start looking for the possible connection problem for this?
Sorry about the long descriptions,
Any help much appreciated.
Thanks

hello all
i have been getting to know my starex alot better in the last few weeks. but still 3 problems remain 2 wich i will fix with out problem changing the antenna and the brake ...
my real problem has been bothering me for few months i guess that is i have been starting my car dead cold for few months . i did not notice much during summer but i sometimes needed to try 2-3 starts. but now when winter is closing in im emptying the battery trying to start the car or using "quick start spay" to start it. i have chect few things ad found soon out then the light that says im heating the glow plugs is on and its shows on correctly and turns of after few seconds there is actually no power going to the glow plugs think it should be 12v for 2 secs then 5v then after that or somthing like that i trackt the (green)wire to a relay(36860 42011) located in the engine room infront of the passager seat i checkt that relay and found nothing wrong with the relay it self but it seems that the is no electricity comming to turn the relay on. i tryed flloing that wire (gray thin wire) not 100% on this think it leads into the car somewhere under the glovedeparment passengerside that is. and im kinda stuck there
ofcause im might have done something wrong somewhere and i have not checkt the glowplugs but there is no power comming to them so im just guessing its not them.
im sorry for all the spelling errors and bad grammar im from iceland and english is lacking somewhat when i write.
please help me with this
on a side note i was chaning the gear box on it and fitted a box from a 1 drive van to my 4x4 by switching the backend of my old gearbox to the "new" so it fitted on the middel box...(not sure its called that)

We have an H1 taxi which has just required a front brake job at just 20,000 miles. The car is only three months old. That seems to be very low mileage for a brake job. Some may say that we do more breaking because the van is used as a taxi, but to us 20,000 city miles is 20,000 city miles no matter how you drive. And we only drive at 30 mph in Bermuda. Is this considered to be normal...? Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks... other than that we LOVE the van!!

It just happened yesterday that my Alarm sensor was going crazy. Automatic door closing mechanism seems going "close" position every kilometer, I check and disconnected my alarm . then went home . At the end of the day the battery seems to go weaker, and notice the bright stop light at the rear, All the gear shift selector seems to go from P to L1.
And for all you know the rubber damper at the stoplight switch just crack and go brittle and just fall off. So it seems that this was not a best rubber chemistry Hayundai had,
Went and look for a rubber that would plug to the hole, ( what a crazy design having a hole right in the middle of a stop light switch) And found the dampers at the doors, cut them about 1/4" adjust the switch and behold. My wife will bring it tomorrow to the Hayundai service CEnter. and would mean$$$$, but no. Mcguyver found out the problem. !
So try to check it out guys.

Hi everyone,
Well, its my first big trip in my 1998 H100 and 4 days in I'm nursing a flat battery. I managed to start the van buy bridging the engine battery (showing 11.6v) with house batteries (I've conevrted it to a camper) to get it running but only really have 1 or 2 more cold starts in the house batteries and cranking is not good for those batteries.
Unfortunatly I don't have a workshop manual to refer too, but I'm reasonibly compitent with fixing old cars (this is my first "modern" car and first diesel).
Taking a peak under the "hood" I can see a couple of ancilliary belt drive devices. The upper is driven by a double belt and looks like it has a hydraulic connection on the back (power steering pump??) the other down low has the characteristic fan behind the pulley, which looks like it will need to be accessed from below.
Obviously I need to get in there and have a good look for loose connections and fixings etc, but looking online at replacement parts (after recovering from the shock of the price) the pic's I find show the hydraulic fitting on the back of the atlernator.
So, My questions are:
1, What is this thing on the back of what might be the alternator? If not the alternator is this the powersteering pump?
2, There is what looks like a small relay box in the back of the battery compartment, what does this do? Should I be checking something in there?
3, Other than checking mounting & connection to the alternator is there anything else that people would suggest before I start getting carried away with my roadside repairs?
Many thanks.

Hi Guys,
Does anyone have an exploded view of the alternator for the H100 alternator ? I also need to know how to reolace the brushes. The alternator stopped working and when I removed it I see its full of oil and grease. The slip rings and brushes as well. Do you think this could be the problem ?

hi guys, Since it's a quite sunny and hot here in the Metro we usually` install tint in our cars, You guess it all "blacked out" even at the front windshield, so I installed a 90/100 H4 bulb, minutes later LH side headlight got busted, cause is LH fuse breaks, installed one and it's ok, Question is :is it ok to upgrade wiring to put some relay to accommodate higher watt bulbs?

hi all, 2 wks ago my van wouldnt start, i was parked on a hill, so i rolled down it - and hey ho it started wonderfully, i drove for 20 mins to my next ob and parked it on a hill close to the job.when i turned the engine off, and back on again it started! when i had done my job and came back out it didnt start....so i kept starting on hills or push starting it, then i took it into my garage and was told i needed 2 new glow plugs! i paid the garage for 2 new glow plugs to be fitted! when done, the garage rang and told me it still wasnt starting "right", i asked what that meant and basically was told "the glow plugs dont seem to be heating up for long enough. the mechanic then said he didnt really know what the problem was.
it starts when its push started only, it turns over rather sluggishly, but the battery is fine.
should i get a compression test? injectors cleaned? if theres a problem with the starter motor, why does the vehicle start after a push start/long run- then starts on key?
can anybody advise a course of action before i lose my job...

Hi, I just got my 2004 Starex Van TDIC, and found out the next morning battery was dead, I ask a friend to tow me to the nearest battery shop to check my "almost" new battery, and found out that my alternator was hanging without the tensioner bolt.
The culprit was the aluminum oil cooler bracket hole that hold the alternator was already loose( to big and oval) it went a lot of work to my friend shop to remove the darn thing. Almost made total overhaul to the engine to remove/ replace the aluminum oil pump bracket. And guess what ?a new replacement isn't cheap either,
What seems to be the problem is that the hole is all aluminum, it doesn't have a bushing or any sort to prevent it from getting bigger, And I don't tend to buy one since it's too expensive,
So what I did start using my shop trusty Tig/ Aluminum to build up the large hole, inserted aluminum square rods and build up the bracket hole, and inserted a 1/2 dia bushing. that has a 3/8 i.d. : And guess what? it's better than buying a new one, and saves me worry free driving in the future.

Yes i said it right, My H100 suspention makes me sea sick! it is so bloody soft and bouncy that on speed bumps or country roads its quite dangerous, i'll be driving along then little bump in road on country lane will catapult me into a random area of the road. even at 20MPH. is there a way to stiffen the susp without comprimising reliability. Also its not just mine that does this is it??

Hi everyone,
I'm new here and English is not my native language, so I hope my question will be clear..
I hav a H-200 Van, which resembles de H-100, from 2000. I noticed oil leaking in the front and was able to locate the leak. Apparently, the oil cooler pipes are worn down and need to be changed. Do I need to remove the front of the van in order to change the pipes? If so, does anyone know how to proceed ?
Thanks

thanks for the help with the brakes last time, fixed them no problems.
For the past few days the check engine light on the dash has been coming on after the engine warms up, for a start it comes on when in gear and flashes off when i press the clutch to change gear. Then after a while it stays on permanently, i could feel it being a bit sluggish to pick up speed when i had changed gear so i thought it was a fuel flow problem but i changed the filter and bled it through and that made no difference. i was thinking maybe it was the gear oil level and would like to know how to check this and how to top it up. ie where the place to fill it is. if anyone has the manual any pics would be appreciated.
i checked in the users manual which came with the van and it says this light only applies to petrol models. any ideas???
thanks in advance

So yesterday i was driving along, when suddenly i had to brake really hard ... Someone in front of me decided he wanted to turn ... So with lot of sliding and tire smoke i came to a halt, not hitting anything. So i drove off, but from that moment my brakes were just simply gone ...
It's like when you start the engine, the first few seconds you can't push in the brake pedal, well it's like that the entire time now ...
Any ideas ?? All help is appreciated !!!

I need to know constructor´s data on fuel consumption for a 2003 H100 Grace van 1,9l (or close) on urban use. Could anybody help me with that information? very difficult to find it either on-line nor on Hyundai's web site.
Thanks a lot in advance!!

Hi, I have a H1 2.5TDi van here in France, it's not unusual to find one here, but have big problems after only 3.5yrs use and only 63 000km(41 000 miles) driven
At 2000rpm in all gears there is a huge peak in vibration which makes the body vibrate like am driving over pebbles on the road
The mecanics at the garage cannot put their finger on the problem, but I think it's a drive train problem... engine at 2000, clutch pedal pressed, and still in 5th gear, vibrations go away
Other problems... terrible beam from the head lights... had to fit xenon Hid to see where I am driving.... build quality worse than a Fiat Mirafiori (1980s) .... fuel consumption.... best at 10L/100km (US 2.5 gallons for 62 miles) and worst at 15L/100km (US almost 4 gallons for 62 miles)
Best news so far.... Mitsubishi DB4F motor, and van was assembled in TURKEY.... that's why so many things are strange.... H1 discs, but Santa Fe calipers!!
