Hello.
The lamp on my atos's instrument pannel has kicked the bucket, and for some resone, probably since who ever put in the radio in the car did a crap job out of it, the speakers stoped working at the same moment.
I need to know how to remove the pront pannel so I could get at the lamp and replace it.
Thanks,
Yuval Lahav.

Hi all
This is my first post on this forum so please be gentle.
We have a 2001 Atoz and I want to do the simple task of changing the alternator belt.
Not so simple, there are three belts.
I know what they are for, Alternator, air con and power steering. And I know which is which.
What I can't figure out is how to loosen the power steering belt (the bottom one) to be able to get the alternator belt off.
Do I have to get under the car for that one and do it from below?
Any assistance anyone can offer will be great as the squeeling belt is starting to annoy everyone now.
Thanks
Andy

Hi, I've recently bought a '99 Atoz+, it's great and I'm really pleased with it.
The only annoying thing is the radio cassette... I've read the post about fitting a cd player on here...but I'm still not sure.
I've taken the three screws out, and moved the facia, but it doesn't move far enough to take the radio cassette out, is it the heater cables that prevent it from moving more?
Also I've read posts that recommend you file the rounded corners of the radio facia to make it square, so you can fit an aftermarket cd, has anyone done this, do you really need to?
Any help or advice would be really appreciated, singing to myself is driving me nuts

Hi to all.
I have a Hyundai Atos Prime (2002 Model). Never had any problems with it since I bought it. Now i have noticed that when i shift into reverse the gear sometimes grindes. This happens even on starting the car after being parked for some time. To avoid this grinding noise i first shift in Ist gear and then into reverse. It seems Ok then but since this noise has started just recently I am thinking that there is something wrong.
All ideas will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks to all.

I have a 2007 Hyundai Amica CDX which I have had from new.
Recently while driving on the motorway 5th gear kept jumping out and wouldnt stay in for longer than 30 seconds. I carried on driving in 4th only for a high pitched squeeling noise to start and every so often the car just kept losing speed before slowly building back up again for the whole process to repeat.
i called out the recovery people who told me that I needed a new clutch and that as i had only done 11000 miles there wasd obviously a problem.
The Recovery service towed my car to the garage where i was told there was nothing wrong with the car as they took it on a test drive. I was also told that they wouldnt look at the gearbox or the clutch as from driving it they can tell there is nothing wrong and that i had overheated my clutch - when i asked how i managed to do this they said they didn't know.
I picked the car up today and after about 5 miles the high pitched squeeling has started again but the car is staying in 5th Gear. Only driven it for a little bit today buit worried that if i carry on driving it the first problem will reoccur.
Does anyone know what this could be. Would really appreciate some advice.

Hi,
I have a 1.1 liter 2002 Hyundai Santro (Indian version), which has done 96 thousand Kms. The car's left half-shaft was replaced a month back, and was not driven much after that. A few days back I noticed a strange grinding sound from the front. I Replaced the new half-shaft considering it to be faulty, but the sound remained. The mechanic found out that the sound increases only when steering right. When the steering wheel is turned left, it disappears. He suggested that the front right wheel bearing be changed.
After having a look at some videos on youtube that showed how to check faulty wheel bearings, I jacked the car up and tried to find any play in the wheels, but there was none. I guess you can feel the play only when the bearing is damaged completely.
My questions are:
is it really a worn bearing?
I have to travel 400kms on the coming weekend, before which I cannot take my car to the mechanic. Would it be safe? The mechanic says so.
If any Indian users are here : Could you please tell me how much would it approximately cost to have the bearing replaced?

Where can I buy rear suspension dampers for my 2002 Santro (Amica) in and around New Delhi and how much would they cost? What brand would be good?
Hyundai service center quotes around 1500 INR for a single damper replacement.
The last Monroe (I guess it was a fake Monroe, cost 425 INR) didnt even last 10K kms, while the OE did its duty for 80K !!
Please also suggest a good silencer/muffler for the same car and its price.

I have an Amica on a 52 plate with 27k on clock. Like others, the box is not responding anymore when put into D or R. I have been told this could be a simple problem with the link from the Selector to the gearbox not being lubricated and got stuck. If this is the case then it must be an easy fix. however I have read other posts and it appears it could be more than this.
My dilema is do I get it fixed which would mean getting it trailored to a specialist or put it on ebay as is and hope for the best. Is it something that can be checked by myself by propping up the front and having a look underneat (following correct safety procedure). These cars seem to hold their value if they work so may be worth a punt.
It seems that sub 30k is not unusual for the gearboxes to go, but I would assume its not the box just the age of the car as most of them are low mileage for a high age.
Any comments would be warmly welcomed or if anyone could suggest a garage in the Swindon wilshire area it would be great
Thanks in advance
Mattt

Hello. Can anyone pls help me identify the make (or part number) of my atoz auto geabox/transaxle. It's 3 speed and the engine is epsilon 800cc. I think this is the very first batch of atoz that was made in Korea. I need this info to look for rebuild kit for d gearbox. Most auto atoz out there are 4 speed (JATCO JF405e) I think.

Hey
About 2 months ago I bought a 2003 Hyundai Atos Prime 1L Auto' gear.
The car is with 90,000Km (55923 Miles). My problem is the car is "eating" too much fuel !! after 5 times full gas tank test its always 7.6-8.2 Km per Liter (about 17.5-19.5 MPG).
this is Outrageous number for that tiny engine.. don't you think ? my driving is conservative, the only way i see a reason for this numbers is that its automatic gear, and i drive urban drives only (no express or highways) and my city have allot of ups and downs (mountain).
my English is not that good, my main question here is this normal or i have a technical problem ?
Thanks
Mor.

Hi Everyone,
Please, I need help. It is quite difficult to operate the air vent controls at night because the light bulb(s) behind the sliding controls have blown.
Can you please advise me how to remove the panel which houses these lights so that I can replace these bulbs.
If I pull out the ashtray, I see one screw which I am sure will have to be removed, but the rest is not so obvious.
Thanks for time.

My old Hyundai Santro has done about 88000 kms (about 55000 miles). The engine is still going strong, in fact, at its peak, but I expect that within the next one to two years I will face the issue of engine overhaul with my imminent increased running of about 40000 kms per year.
My question is whether I can replace the old 1.0 lit epsilon engine with the newer 1.1 lit epsilon or irde engine, or better still, the i10's 1.2 lit Kappa engine. I know this will be a tough call, but is it possible in principle? I am prepared to replace gearbox and anything else, as long it is cheaper than buying a new car. The thought of my 780 kg, 55 HP Santro running on a 78-HP 1.2 lit engine is mouthwatering, to say the least (see my Personal Photo or the videos at my signature for an idea of how this Santro performs presently).

I have recently purchased a 2000 Amica GSI with only 23k miles. The car is spotless but has only one problem - the reversing lights are permanently on. I have removed the bulbs to mitigate this, but am guessing that the problem is with the reversing light switch which I assume must be located around the gearbox.
Can anybody out there advise me :
Where is the switch?
Is it an easy job?
Is access from above or below?
Where can I get one?
Rough Cost?
Could the problem be something simpler?
Thanks in anticipation.

Hi Gang,
The needle on the fuel /petrol gauge on my sister's Hyundai Atoz 199 V reg , has stopped working ie does not rise to indicate the correct level of petrol. I have had a quick look and checked the fuses and they all seem ok - there is abox of fuses underneath the dashboard on the righthand side of the car and a box of fuses under the bonnet on the LHS side of the car.
I'm not familiar with this make of car at all - although it is a simple car with not much else on it, everything is mostly manual.
Any further hints or tips.
Many Thanx
Ace

The wifes 2001 Automatic SI has developed a transmission fault.
When starting from cold and selecting "Drive", the car will only inch forward despite how much acceleration is used (much akin to a slipping clutch in a manual car). Reverse gear can be selected, and the car reverses fine.
There are no strange noises going on, and I can see nothing externally at the gearbox casing that gives any clues.
It would seem that once the engine has warmed slightly, all transmission functions progressively work fine again.
Whilst being quite handy electro/mechanically (I fix cranes and conveyors for a living), I know absolutely nothing about Automatic gearboxes and their components......so any relevent advice would be very much appreciated.
.....and yes, the gearbox oil level is ok.

Hi Everyone
I'm birdy and new to the forum and I am in deep desperation!
My Amica Si seems to have developed a problem with the rear wiper motor and also the lights that illuminate the rear number plate. I noticed one day that when it was raining that my wiper suddenly stopped. I tried looking to find out if this was a fuse that had gone but I really don't know which one this may be. I then noticed that my rear number plate lights didn't work either.
Would these two items be on the same fuse and if so which fuse should I be looking for in the box underneath the steering wheel please or might there be another underlying problem?
Incidently I have no knowledge of cars and how things work what so ever and wondered if somebody may be able to help.
Many thanks to anybody who might be able to point me in the right direction.
With all good wishes
birdy

About 20 days ago I purchased a 2005 Sonata (VE - 4 cyl), from a Montreal Hyundai dealer. After having had the car inspected by highly respected garage, I purchased the vehicle. As I left the dealer the evening I purchased the car, I noticed the remote starter wasn't working. After I told the salesman he suggested that it must be the battery. I changed the battery the next day only to have it work once or twice that day. A technician friend of mine came to the conclusion that there was a short on the board. I returned to the salesman who said it was an after market product and it was simply a 'throw in' in the deal. He refused to do anything about it. He mentioned that his boss would have preferred to have had the remote starter removed from the car, (it was a trade-in), before putting in the lot for sale. This way, they would have been able to offer to sell me a remote starter.
Any suggestions on actions I can take in order to get them to agree to pay to have it fixed? In Quebec, there is a provincial government '30 day warrantee' and I still have 8 months left on Hyundai's 5 year warrantee.
He gave me the number of a company that installs and services them for his dealership...

Hi list
- my first post!
For budgetary reasons

, I am changing the Head Gasket on my AtoZ, a garage has pressure tested it and confirmed the problem.
I am making reasonable process and I think I am ok on the inlet and exhaust manifolds, although there is one bolt on the inlet manifold that is going to be very difficult to reach.
I don't have a service manual, but I did find some stuff on-line and do I have service drawings of the engine.
The main thing I need some help with is the timing belt, plus I do have some other questions.
1. Can this job can be done without removing the engine?
2. Do I have to remove the other belts first?
3. The other belts are just belts aren't they? - there are no timing marks?
4. I appear have two diagrams showing sequences for head tightening!
8-6-1-3-9
head
10-4-2-5-7
and
4-8-10-5-1
head
2-6-9-7-3
Which one is valid?
5.I know the head torque (60-70nm) but I don't know what the rocker valve clearance should be.
6. I have bought a valve spring compressor, and grinding paste kit, I have new valve stem seals with my gasket set. Its ok to regrind the valves isn't it? I know some modern engines have coated valve seats, which shouldn't be re ground.
7. Back to the timing belt, it looks has a tensioner with a spring - is this easy to slacken/tighten?
8. Any other advice (apart from get it done professionally for £650+vat)
Thanks for any advice.

Hi!
Newbie here. I'm so happy I found this forum.
I'm having trouble with my electronics to the window on the driver side. I'm not sure of the english word for it, but in Sweden we call it "window-elevator".
So... This afternoon, when I was driving, I pushed the button to pull my window down and guess what... The whole thing just fell halfway down and now I can't make it work. When I press the button to make the window go up, all I can hear is a silent "ticking". What might be the problem?
And a second question:
Trying to save some money, my dad wanted to help me fix this. But no matter how he did, he couldn't remove the panel on the door because the handle were stuck. Should it be stuck or there a "magical way" to remove the panel?
Hope someone can help me. This car is the only way for me to get to the university...
/Jennifer

Hi there - new to the forum!
I drive an X-reg (year 2000 I think) Hyundai Amica Gsi in the most beautiful metallic green. She fell into my hands in October 2007 with only 35,000 miles on the clock and I have taken great pleasure in zipping around in my first car.
There are only one or two problems and I noticed a few other posts about one so I thought I would set up a nice new post to see if anyone could come up with any answers.
My first problem is my reverse lights. They are constantly on - so I've had to take out the bulbs in order to drive around, which means I have to limit my reversing to when I am sure I'm alone and in daylight. Very time consuming and not very legal, I'm sure. I had a friend look at my engine and it seemed like my reverse switch was stuck "on" so that the car thought reverse gear was engaged all the time. He bought a new switch and fitted it but it did not solve the problem. The way he explained it to me is that in a normal car, the reverse light circuit is a broken circuit and putting the car into reverse gear causes the switch to open, closing the circuit and switching on the lights. In my car this seems to be the opposite way about. Has anyone else experienced this or could anyone give me a clue as to what may be wrong? I apologise for my incredibly crude description. You may have guessed that I am not a mechanic.
My second problem started after I had two tyres slashed in a car park. I know, right! I had to have four new tyres fitted (don't even go there) and it turned out that no one had tracked my car during its MOT (common, by the way!) which meant that my car had been driving on the outside of its tyres for God knows how long! The garage kindly realigned my tyres free of charge, but now my back driver's side mudflap is incredibly close to the wheel. It now makes a horrid screeching when I go over bumps or turn right, and the noise is ten times worse when I have back seat passengers. Would it be worth having my mud flaps removed?
Thank you in anticipation!
Louise

Hi there. Hope someone can help. Have a 2000 Amica SI with an intermittent fault. Car will be fine for weeks and then overnight the battery will completely discharge as if there is a short. Nothing left on, not lights , interior lights ,ignition, radio. Everything checked as off. No warning lights when engine running like alternator fault...nothing. Has anyone had this same problem. Only thing I have noticed is that when this happens and all the current has drained from the battery overnight, when i use my jump leads from another car there is a spark at the battery terminals as if something is on. But listen.... when I open the doors to double check everything is off and no lights are on anywhere before i try and start it, if I go back to the battery the sparking at the terminals has stopped if I remove and replace the jump leads. I know this is very odd and its doing my head in. Anyone had similar problems? Would really appreciate your feedback and thoughts. Just might be something I've not thought of. Cheers.

Hi all,
I bought my mum a 200 X plate Amica 1l GSi Auto. It was fine for a month or so, then it started stalling when you pulled up and were waiting in traffic, It would start up again as soon as you turned the key, so we took it back to the dealer. The dealer put it on a test and it showed no fault codes. He had a mechanic clean the injectors. This solved the prob for a couple of days but then it came back. Now it has started to stall when you are driving as well as stationary. The dealer is going to take another look but has anyone else experienced this problem, or have any idea what could be causing it?
Yours hopefully
Geof
