I found my Atoz to be literally out of oil today! Yikes! Was not that long ago I filled it half full. Topped her up but a little worried the water I topped up drove 50miles and went down around 1 inch or so.. Possible head gasket? It always gets creamy on the oil cap this time of year so can't use that as a judgement..

Previous owner was driving without oil, engine broke down, some parts dropped out from engine, used working engine was bought, and fitted, when trying to start engine, it starts and dies in the same moment, can't make it run even for 5sec, fuel is coming, but ignition is cutting out when the engine wants to start, i think computer is switching off electricity for engine because when it broke down it had some accident signal sent to computer not to start the engine , what to do how to fix, please help! Hyundai Atoz plus year 1999 1.0L engine, manual , Thanks!

P.s. Could someone please tell me where exactly E.C.U is located, don't want to take all car apart.

I can't get the demister to clean more than half way up the windscreen even when on full blast! Seems to be enough air but bad angles. Am I the only one with this problem? Also doesn't clear the driver and passenger window and have to switch it over to blowing in your face and point the vents at the side window.

I have to drive with the window open a bit to stop the condensation and it is noisy!

I also only get max 250miles per tank on a pretty open road to work and back. Is this too low?

And whilst I am at it... do you find the brakes dangerous? Little wheels, no ABS, god that car skids easy...

And my wipers don't clean bottom right, even bought new ones!

Sorry if this has been asked before but can anyone tell me the milage schedule for sevicing an amica? IE. Oil change, cam belt, plugs etc.I just bought a 2001 si with no history, any advice would be most welcome.

I have a Atoz Semi Automatic a few weeks ago i pulled up at a junction and couldn't get the car back into any gear, eventally after turning the car on and off a few times and wiggling the gear stick i managed to get it working again. An AA man came and told me it was because my brake fluid that was empty that was causing a problem, but it has happened again and when i checked the fluid it only needed a little top up but has worked again since. Does anyone know if this is the actual problem or is there a more serious underlying issue. Many thanks

hi all just found the back window on my t reg atoz wont go up or down the handle is just spinning ive removed the door card to investigate and im not sure what this part is called but its what the bottom of the window sits on and the little plastic wheel goes through has fallen out just sitting at the bottom of the door its covered in rust as i dont know whats its called its hard to source the part the guys in halfords were no help 3 of them didnt know what is was called but we all knew what it does im gonna try attach an image any help with this would be great thanks here is a link to the image

i got a hyundai atos prime from 2006 and i dont like the biscut type tyre iam wanting more of the tyre to be on the road ive been suggested to get 175-70 13" what you all think about that but also i want to replace the brake disk and get better brakes as well and also i want to put better headlights and rear lights and the headlights i want i want to have then shine white so i can see better on the road rather than yellow light ive also been suggested to get a induction kit for my car. now i know nothing about brand names and such or even where to go for ppl that wont rip me off or put rubbish on my car, also iam in south africa. please can any help me or guide me through this on what i should get or look for please.

hi does anyone know why my amica is over fueling i have checked it and the plugs ae wet through so i clamped off the fuel pipe and it would run on the fuel left in the injectors but as soon as i took the clamp off it wont start is there a fuel regulator that goes on them

HI ALL, JUST RETURNED FROM A TRIP TO THE KRUGER NATIONAL PARK. HAZYVIEW TO JOHANNESBURG , I KEPT MY FOOT STEADY AT A SPEED OF ABOUT 100 KPH. MY FUEL USED FOR THE 531KM TRIP WAS 25.1 LITRES. 2 NOT SMALL ADULTS AND GEAR ENOUGH FOR A WEEK IN THE BOOT. NOT TOO BAD ? ANYONE GOT BETTER FIGURES?

Hi, anyone towing with a new 1.1 Atos ? Please send details before I have a tow hitch fitted. I want to tow a tent trailer, fully loaded at 500 kg, 300 empty and allowing for 200 kg camping gear. That seems a lot for table, 2 chairs and some cooking gear.

Long story short, im sick of the existing handbrake cover on my hyundai amica SI and want to replace it with a better looking one but im not really sure how. I thought about cutting the old one off but if I do that and I cant fit the new one im stuck, so if anyone knows how to fit a new one I would appreciate it if you explained it to me. I just bought an amica, year 2000, two weeks ago,there is only 1 key (normal one) I just want to know if the car was fitted with central locking,because i have not got the user manual either,i asked to the person who sold the car and he does not know about it.
If someone can help me and tell me about it,and what is the specific name for the key,i have a doubt between key fob,central locking.I don't speak english very well and all the car terminology is new to me.

I am having a problem starting and keeping running my sons 1999 atoz.
I can only get the enging to run by rapidly switching the ignition on and off continuously, If i try to start the enging it will run for approx 3-4 seconds and the stop.
The fuel pump runs for approx 5 seconds when the ignition is turned on.
Could this be a fuel pump fault or the fuel pump relay ?? as there is a relay under the centre console which seems to control the pump (disconnected plug and fuel pump failed to run at all).
Any ideas would be appreciated.

I've recently purchased a very tidy 2000 Amica GSi, which drives very well, but I do have difficulty in finding reverse gear. All the other gears are fine, there is no crunching or grinding, I just don't seem to be able to "find" the gear

I've searched previous posts and the only issues seem to be clutch, which I don't think it is because there is no crunching or baulking.

Is there a particular technique? I just pull it across and back, but it doesn't always engage, just stays in neutral. I keep trying and eventually I do get the gear. Any advice or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated

This is my first post on this forum so please be gentle.
We have a 2001 Atoz and I want to do the simple task of changing the alternator belt.

Not so simple, there are three belts.

I know what they are for, Alternator, air con and power steering. And I know which is which.

What I can't figure out is how to loosen the power steering belt (the bottom one) to be able to get the alternator belt off.

Do I have to get under the car for that one and do it from below?

Any assistance anyone can offer will be great as the squeeling belt is starting to annoy everyone now.

Bought my wife a atoz as a town car (school runs etc )
Just gone to start it up for the 1st time since i bought it in dec09
Needed new HT leads and filters and oil change inc flush and filter
Now car is running fine but i noticed a leak from under car drivers side front looks to be coolant so ive checked rad and it was very low so it must a leak
from the water pump i think as the belt squels everynow and then on idle.
Does anyone know if these are driven by the cam belt looking at it i dont think it is
any advise would be great thx in advance

Hello everyone this is my first post. I need help with the name of a part.The part in question is the plastic bit with the coolant temperature sensor attached to it. It has three rubber pipes going into it. the top one comes from the top of the radiator the middle one goes into the car body for heating. Thanks in advance Simon

About 2 months ago I bought a 2003 Hyundai Atos Prime 1L Auto' gear.
The car is with 90,000Km (55923 Miles). My problem is the car is "eating" too much fuel !! after 5 times full gas tank test its always 7.6-8.2 Km per Liter (about 17.5-19.5 MPG).
this is Outrageous number for that tiny engine.. don't you think ? my driving is conservative, the only way i see a reason for this numbers is that its automatic gear, and i drive urban drives only (no express or highways) and my city have allot of ups and downs (mountain).
my English is not that good, my main question here is this normal or i have a technical problem ?

I have a Hyundai Atos Prime (2002 Model). Never had any problems with it since I bought it. Now i have noticed that when i shift into reverse the gear sometimes grindes. This happens even on starting the car after being parked for some time. To avoid this grinding noise i first shift in Ist gear and then into reverse. It seems Ok then but since this noise has started just recently I am thinking that there is something wrong.
All ideas will be greatly appreciated.

For the past 6 months (!) the engine warning light on my Amica stays on. My local friendly mechanic has replaced the ignition coil which made the light go off for a bit. Then the spark plugs were replaced which made it go back off for a shorter period but solved the other problem. This is that when it is damp the car has no power until it has warmed up and 'chugs' quite a lot. On a dry day I take it on runs of 300 miles with not a hint of a problem. I know these descriptions are quite simplistic but any suggestions on how to make the light go off for ever. If I need any parts can anyone recommend an online shop that dfoes them cheaper than main dealer?

I have Santro and i need to know where Oxygen sensor is located.

I drowned my car in rain and its ECU shorted completely. Then i found a ECU which costed me much less then the new one but it had some problems and i fixed it (some chips gone bad which are replaced). Now the problem is that ECU keeps injecting more fule in the car then normal (actually i dont know if it was tuned for CNG or it is not completely reading oxygen sensor internally). The car works perfectly when i install a good ECU.

I have purchased a OBD dignostic link but havent checked it yet if the lean to rich fuel mixture oscilation is their which can confirm that O2 sensor is operating and closed loop operation of engine is being controled by it when idling.

Any ideas? Why i see black gases frm exhaust (it is on petrol no CNG) and the millage of car is decreased by 25%? Are ECU's Injection duration altered (to longer duration) when you convert it to CNG?

When i rev up the engine very hardly till the engine screams then momentraily i release accelaerator completely, The engine goes into like its going to stale for 0.5 seconds which confirms according to my understanding that ECU sensed that it needs to cut off injection for a while as their is rich fuel already their in chamber and no load on engine as clutch is disengagued So their is no point in going it to halt if it were reading oxygen sensor which should confirm to ECU that it needs to inject some fuel in chamber to get it stably running for that 0.5 seconds but as ECU senses the RPM droped it opens injectors so actually engine doesnot stale (because of free running momentum) but i can feel that their was a problem.

My new Atos radio seems set with very low volume. To hear decently whilst driving it has to be turned up to about volume 25 - 30? there is a menu button which, when pushed 5 times shows volume. Booklet says press + - button to adjust. There are 2 sets of these buttons, one in seek and one in FL. Neither do anything. The radio booklet says it's a 82170DH5701 CD/CD-R/CD-RW/MP3/WMA PLAYER, PLL MW/FM. Salesman says it is a Pioneer.
Also, where can I buy a clock that fits into the space next to the fog light switch, for a rh drive car. part number 94590-02000. Here in South Africa they want R2000 for them, yet I saw on on ebay for 24 Euros. Thanks, Duncan

can any one help?? i have a amica 2001 auto when in park or neutral the engine revs fine but when i select any gear it just wont rev its like its trying to rev but wont, the gearbox is not locked or anything like that as it will move slowly on tickover,

The wifes 2001 Automatic SI has developed a transmission fault.

When starting from cold and selecting "Drive", the car will only inch forward despite how much acceleration is used (much akin to a slipping clutch in a manual car). Reverse gear can be selected, and the car reverses fine.

There are no strange noises going on, and I can see nothing externally at the gearbox casing that gives any clues.

It would seem that once the engine has warmed slightly, all transmission functions progressively work fine again.

Whilst being quite handy electro/mechanically (I fix cranes and conveyors for a living), I know absolutely nothing about Automatic gearboxes and their components......so any relevent advice would be very much appreciated.

.....and yes, the gearbox oil level is ok.

The lamp on my atos's instrument pannel has kicked the bucket, and for some resone, probably since who ever put in the radio in the car did a crap job out of it, the speakers stoped working at the same moment.
I need to know how to remove the pront pannel so I could get at the lamp and replace it.

i have a 2001 amica si with the following symptoms the car drives like its being held back this feeling clears after a while and the car drives better.have changed the ht leads and coil pack as it was misfiring aswell,upon driving it last night i noticed the gear stick and suround getting hot,when i looked under the car the cat was glowing red?

Hi, I've recently bought a '99 Atoz+, it's great and I'm really pleased with it.
The only annoying thing is the radio cassette... I've read the post about fitting a cd player on here...but I'm still not sure.
I've taken the three screws out, and moved the facia, but it doesn't move far enough to take the radio cassette out, is it the heater cables that prevent it from moving more?
Also I've read posts that recommend you file the rounded corners of the radio facia to make it square, so you can fit an aftermarket cd, has anyone done this, do you really need to?
Any help or advice would be really appreciated, singing to myself is driving me nuts !!!

hi i am new here just got my son a 00 atoz the car was running good but tonight it stopped on his way home for work
i was getting a spark and fuel and even so would not fire at all but now i have no spark at all

its just wetting the plugs
engine has good compresson ,,,timing is set up right

I have a 2007 Hyundai Amica CDX which I have had from new.

Recently while driving on the motorway 5th gear kept jumping out and wouldnt stay in for longer than 30 seconds. I carried on driving in 4th only for a high pitched squeeling noise to start and every so often the car just kept losing speed before slowly building back up again for the whole process to repeat.

i called out the recovery people who told me that I needed a new clutch and that as i had only done 11000 miles there wasd obviously a problem.

The Recovery service towed my car to the garage where i was told there was nothing wrong with the car as they took it on a test drive. I was also told that they wouldnt look at the gearbox or the clutch as from driving it they can tell there is nothing wrong and that i had overheated my clutch - when i asked how i managed to do this they said they didn't know.

I picked the car up today and after about 5 miles the high pitched squeeling has started again but the car is staying in 5th Gear. Only driven it for a little bit today buit worried that if i carry on driving it the first problem will reoccur.

Does anyone know what this could be. Would really appreciate some advice.

I have a 1.1 liter 2002 Hyundai Santro (Indian version), which has done 96 thousand Kms. The car's left half-shaft was replaced a month back, and was not driven much after that. A few days back I noticed a strange grinding sound from the front. I Replaced the new half-shaft considering it to be faulty, but the sound remained. The mechanic found out that the sound increases only when steering right. When the steering wheel is turned left, it disappears. He suggested that the front right wheel bearing be changed.

After having a look at some videos on youtube that showed how to check faulty wheel bearings, I jacked the car up and tried to find any play in the wheels, but there was none. I guess you can feel the play only when the bearing is damaged completely.

My questions are:
is it really a worn bearing?
I have to travel 400kms on the coming weekend, before which I cannot take my car to the mechanic. Would it be safe? The mechanic says so.

If any Indian users are here : Could you please tell me how much would it approximately cost to have the bearing replaced?
