For the past few weeks I have been trialling a tuning box manufactured by a German company ASA Autotechnik Saretz and I have compiled the attached report giving details of my findings. Should you want more info from me contact via a personal email and I will try to answer those questions posed.
A really special price to forum members has been negotiated with ASA Autotechnik Saretz who can offer a Tuning box, plus appropriate connecting cable complete and delivered to your door for an all-inclusive Special price of € 99 plus shipping costs of €10 to the UK. (A total of €109)
Members in other Countries should check shipping costs prior to purchasing but I have been advised that they will be as reasonable as is possible)
Please Note: -
This is a considerable saving on the regular ASA Autotechnik Saretz Internet price of €148 plus postage.
This is the best available offer on the Internet. Contact them by Email to order at
shop@autotechnik-saretz.de ENGLISH is spoken and understood.
When ordering please quote reference Itza/ASA ECO CR/Special Offer
If you have another vehicle that has any other type of diesel engine, ASA Autotechnik Saretz possibly manufacture a tuning device for that as well so contact them to see what they can offer you.

Hi Forum,
Our new Family car I30CW will be here a couple of weeks, can't wait to drive it! The colour my wife chose was Amber REd which is not available when we decided to get one. Anyway , worth to wait as we both like the colour for a family car.
I know that before we can get our ride , I wanted to know what are the things I need to look for before I accept it.
I am getting it from KOMOCO Singapore. What are the freebies if anyone who got it ahead of me?
Any Advice? from anyone? A checklist on what to look for? ie basic tools, where is the jack compartment? etc something like that......
I can't remember when i asked the agent if this has a camera behind for you to see the rear when reversing. I forgot whether i heard it right that there is.
Thanks to this forum and hope to get get good adises from Hyundai owner... this is our first time to have Hyundai which recommended by my brother who is in Canada... Hyundai being the top car dealer 2009 in North America /Canada...

At last I picked up my I30 CRDi Style Estate it's an ex demo couple months old with 2000mls on the clock. I traded in my 2.2 petrol Vectra Estate as it had been lots of trouble and was drinking fuel like no tomorrow.
So Initial thought's:
From the outside it looks small but it's a tardis inside pleasently suprized with the amount of room. The seats are really comforable and all the little pockets are great, that double cup holder on the middle seat in the back is just great the kids love it (no eating or drinking in dad's new car!)
The ride is firm and planted where you steer is where you go and the brakes are very very sharpe. The odd pot hole i've missed and driving over the speed humps it comfortable, smooth and doesn't crunch like the Vauxhall did!
Engine well I am shocked at the power of the 1.6 CRDi it pulls well and although 1st geat is short the other 5 (yes that makes 6 gears!) have excellent torque and driving home from the midlands on the M1 at a steady 75-80mph a push of the foot and the speed increased promptly.
Fuel WOW averaged 56mpg on the 110mls trip home and today driving into London with the stop start still managed 49mpg, I filled it to the top and have done 105mls and the needle on the fuel gauge has just moved from the full point.
Equipement laods of bits and bobs, this morning found the extra 12V socket in the boot, my mate couldn't believe you can have air con in the glove box!
All of this with a 5 year warranty for a very reasonable price you could say I'm chuffed to bits.
I30 Sean.

Hi all,
Just purchased an i30 in Australia and was looking forward to instant iPod compatibility.
Sadly here in Australia (as opposed to Europe/UK) we don't get the "Hyundai iPod full control cable' as standard. It commands $110 AUD as an option. But we do get a 512MB i30 labelled USB stick..... ? hmmmmmm
Can any current i30 owner post a picture of the 'exclusive' cable connections for the iPod or describe the same?
The manual warns one away from using Apple's original usb cable. Is this true?

Hi
we just bought an i30 W in Izmir, Turkey - diesel 1.6 - and everything is fine. Except that the manual is in Turkish and it looks like it may be difficult to get one in English, but I'm working on it.
Meantime has anyone worked on how to manage the MP3 player controls? I can get it all to play, including random or by album, but I can't get the car to show what I set up on the Sony Walkman - eg choosing an album before we start. As soon as it is plugged in and switched on the player goes to the first of the installed three pieces of music. I tried to search on the car controls, but so far just get lost.
Any help much appreciated.

Hi just wanted to say hi before posting ,
part 1 got home and when I tried to lock the car it turns out that the red light on the key fob shows ok, but the central lock does not function using the remote , but functions manually.
Later I tried the spare key and same luck.
Any body knows of a way to reset the reciever in the car at least that is where the problem lies me thinks.Car is still under warranty but its a pain to go to the dealer.
Thanks guys for all the help.
Part 2 hi again, this morning I tried the fob again and all seemed to work perfectly, only to out that later it would not lock the system ,so I assume it is an intermittent faul.
Any ideas please?
cheers

Hi all,
I am car shopping now and only just stumbled onto the Elantra Touring (aka i30?.) I am really excited about the car over all but I am slightly concerned that, if I got the i30, I may have difficulty servicing it since I have never seen one on the road here (I'm in Minnesota in the US.) If I got a Honda Fit, for instance, I could be certain that almost every part would be available within a few hours.
For those of you in the US, how has servicing been? Have there been long wait times for parts? Has there been any difficulty using the (amazing) warranty?
Also, any feedback about the i30 in snow would be welcome – it is very snowy where I am.
thanks,
Charlie

A minor issue but let's see if others have had it:
- Newish i30, the seatbelt height adjuster slider mechanism makes clicking noises when the driver moves/car goes over bumps. Not very loud but only 3" from driver's ear it IS annoying in an otherwise nice quiet car! I think that putting a finger on the slider cover stops the noise and the noise can be replicated by pushing/releasing that cover. Found that the passenger side equivalent height adjustment slider is tighter and does not click as a result - but maybe because that belt is not used much.
So the question is, anyone else had this and is the cure a simple one?

Hi there I am new to thi sforum lark but her goes, I had my i30 Febuary 2009, pre registured 58 plate 13 miles on clock. december noticed front wheels spinning more often than not pulling away in damp weather, noticed this 1st in september but no time to check it out due to travel home to work to home to hospital to home most ofthe year due to dads ill healthclocking up 12000 miles. Finnaly got fed up just befor christmas and swopped front and rear wheels round. then noticed that the inside of front tiers worn a lot more than rest of tire, right tire worn more tha left one looks like carcuse starting to show through. tried talking to place I had car from was tolsd lucky to get any where near 1200 on front wheel drive car ???? advised could do tracking check for £38. spoke to Hyundai dealer when booking car for service got same responce 'its expected to get inner tire wear on front wheel drive with power stearing', can do 4 wheel tracking check for £60 + as tracking not coverd by warenty after 3 months?????? sounds rather poor to me as I have had Volvo 740 Volvo V40 and 2 Kia Cerato's, 16 petrol and 1.6 diesel. all with front wheel drive and power stearing, all with no problems like this, did 28000 in 1st Cerato and still plenty tread on them. Has any one else had a simular problem with poor tire wear / tracking ??
Thanks in antisipation................ sorry if I seem to have rambled on.
origen of landnut ... I had a 1968 long wheel base landrover, 2.25 smoky for 13 + years rebuilt on a new chassis on my own over 1 month, ( still miss it )

i have a 2009 (59) reg i30 diesel. I have only done ~3000m but i have had problems with the windows steaming up since the day i brought it home! It's even worse now with the cold weather - it's not just steaming up; it is wet inside! As well as having to scrape the ice off the outside window i am having to scrape inside!!! I have been meaning to contact the dealer for a while and really must get round to it this week but thought i'd ask anyone here if they have any ideas what could be causing it so the dealership don't fob me off! I like to be prepared! Thanks

I'm over in the UK and stumbled across this forum the other day. Very nice and easy to navigate around
I wanted to ask you all a quick question, as I don't have kids and currently only have a small ford fiesta, so I'm not able to compare things very easily. But, those of you who do have i30's, if you have famalies, how do you find car for space?
Mainly, is the boot big enough? Do you ever run out of space? Do you have a roof box to help spread the load?
Thanks

Ian

Hello all,
Has any member had experience of fitting side moldings to an I30 and ,if so, can they offer any tips. The instructions state to fit the mouldings above the swage line (contour) but this is pretty vague . If any member had an I30 already fited with moldings I should be most grateful if they could let me know the measurement from the bottom of the door to the bottom of the molding (measured in the middle of the molding) for both front and rear door

Has anyone noticed a slight roll-back after applying the handbrake?
On coming to a stop on a slight hill and applying the handbrake, my car rolls back very slightly after I take my foot off the brake pedal. It feels as if there is some slack in the brake pads at the back.
I took the opportunity to investigate the rear brakes while I had the wheels off to grease the hubs (to stop the alloy wheels corroding and sticking) and I found what looks like a combined drum and disc arrangement. There is the expected disc brake caliper but the handbrake cable goes to the backplate, not the caliper.
I was able to rock both rear wheels slightly and could hear a slight clunk as the brake shoes take up the slack.
This seems to me to be a very reliable set up because the more usual rear brake caliper with integrated handbrake mechanism is very prone to seizing. The only drawback I can see is from the slight increase in unsprung weight, but then there's the excellent multilink rear suspension to deal with that.
It seems strange to me that the engineers would have designed in so much slack, has anyone else noticed this with their i30 ?

Hi
I have an i3o comfort. I want to replace the standard 15" alloys but don't want any warrenty problems so would like to replace with the alloys with chrome inserts fitted to the Premium model. Any one done this and at what cost. I have also considered the Alloys shown in the accessories area of the brochure. The LS Graphite appears to be made by Borbet and can be obtained much cheaper than from the dealer. Same goes for the Rial Como and Porto which appear to be Wolfrace wheels. Has anyone fitted any of these wheels to their car and any pics.
Thanks

Has anybody found any alternative to the Hankook 225/45R17 91V tyres that will give guaranteed lower noise?
Vredestein's latest equivalent claim to meet the coming EU 2012 noise & wet weather standards.
It's very expensive to try experimenting oneself so I'm hoping someone out there knows the answer(s).

I have a new i30 which has covered just 300 miles so far. There is an annoying noise like an air intake or fan which seems to kick in when I accelerate through the gears. The higher the revs the louder the noise. At first I thought it was the heater fan, but it's there even when the fan is switched off and the air vents are closed, so it must be coming from under the bonnet. Could it be the electric radiator fan kicking in as soon as the car is moving? The noise suddenly stops when the engine drops to an idle, and starts again when I accelerate away. Have any other owners had the same problem? I'd be grateful for any feedback.
Drove my son's i10 today, and it makes a similar noise, only worse if anything. Maybe it's best described as a hissing noise. Surely somebody else has had the same problem ??

I have a strange problem trying to use a USB stick in my i30.
I started off with a 1GB stick....MP3's in folders and all worked well.
I tried a 64GB stick...couldn't get it to work (might be a dodgy stick although it works in my PC)
I have a new 8GB stick from HP. It currentlty has 4.1GB of music on on saved in folders in the format <Album Artist>\<Album>\<Track#> - <Title>.mp3
I put the stick in and the i30 reads it and starts playing through the tracks....seemingly OK. I can skip forwards and backworks through all the tracks but I cannot browse the directories and select different albums.
I tried removing a lot of the music so that I just have a few albums saves in the same directory format. No problems ready the directories this time.
I'm struggling to figure out what it can be. Any ideas?

Does anyone have this problem. I have i30 sx 2009 model. The radio has intermittent static on AM band. It happens only on bumpy roads or over speed humps etc. The strange thing is that it doesn't affect FM or USB or CD and it seems to mainly occur after the car has been sitting in the sun!! I know! it is very weird. Some days it is fine and on others the static is so bad that it is impossible to listen. When I say "static", the sound is more like there is a loose connection to one of the speakers but as it only occurs on AM it can't be a loose connection. Ring any bells with anyone.

Hi Guys,
Got my i30cw several days ago. I can't believe how smooth the ride is so far! Hope its not because its new.
Anyway, my i30 came with the ipod cable thrown in. But...I have no ipod, iphone or anything Apple!
I do have several thumbdrives sitting around though. After searching this site/net, I have ascertained that
1) A flashdrive is still readable
2) It has to be formatted to FAT or FAT 32
3) It cannot be too large a capacity (8GB/16 GB max)
However, does anyone have any pictures on how to hook up a non ipod mp3 player to the car? Do you guys use the cable already provided, or is that doable at all?
Pardon my ignorance, but am not so good with such stuff
PLs help. thanks

Hi,
Just joined as i will have an i30 soon. Only a moan really having just read the post from isellhyundai Oct 28 2009,12.36pm. in the i10 forum. Is he not missing the point? It is easy to understand that if they sell a lot more cars than expected there will be a delay but just tell the customer.I am a motability customer renewing my car so it is not really a problem as i keep my present car but it is the principle. Due to change on November 9 and ordered on August 10 and told there was a 3 month wait so did not think there would be a problem. Phoned 29/10 to check all is ok ,said he has not seen car and will check and get back to me. As expected no call back so phoned 30/10 and told the factory are saying mid November and delivery takes 3 weeks so should get car 1st or 2nd week December. Does this sound likely? He must have known for ages that i would not get the car on time, just tell me. I wonder if this is my dealer!

I just called Hyundai in the U.S. to ask a question and the line went dead. I really think the person hung up on me.
This is the deal:
We bought a new Elantra Touring this weekend at a dealer in Northern California. It was the most stressful auto buying experience I've ever had. I literally had nightmares about it that night.
And to top things off, when I got home, I realized that our car qualifies for the current Gas Lock incentive that Hyundai is offering - not that the dealer let us know that. Specifically, if you do not wish to do the Gas Lock, the fine print says that you can get $1,000 off the cost of the car. That is the option we would have taken if the dealer had let us know about the incentive.
I really do not want to talk to those men at the dealer again in my lifetime if I can avoid it, so I thought I'd try just calling Hyundai to see what they could do for us. I was just at the beginning stages of asking the question when the line went dead.
I'm new to Hyundai. Is this the kind of customer service I can expect? I really like the car, but I'm longing for my days of owning a Subaru where the customer service is good.

For my 2003 Elantra: If I replace the CR2032 battery in my keyless entry fob, does that somehow cancel the code, which would then require me to pay a Hyundai dealer to reset it? Or do the fobs each have their own unique unchangeable code which is saved by my Elantra's ETACS module, meaning I could change the fob battery and still have it operate correctly?
The local Hyundai dealer wants $64 to set a fob for my car (!) so it would be nice to know before making an appointment.
We might just change the battery in one of them as an experiment.

i am fortunate to have a Nokia 6303 classic mobile, this has a standard 3.5 mm stereo headphone plug which fits nicely with the aux socket. The phone has voice command function. What this allows me to do is use my phone hands free with the audio coming over the built in speakers, i do not need to position my mobile close to my mouth as its microphone picks up my voice when the phone is sat in the tray next to the socket. No need for an expense hand free kit.

Hi people,
Hyundai People have installed a Parrot CK3100 hands free in my new i30, and while there is a conversation on the mobile outside temperature goes very high like 40-50ºC. It goes down at reality some seconds after the conversation is over.
Does anyone else has this problem?
thanks

Hi all
New UK i30 owner here. My wife has an i30 1.6crdi comfort and I've just taken delivery of an i30 2.0crdi premium (second hand, 8,800 miles on the clock).
My wife got two remote keys with her car, and I got one remote key and one standard key.
To the questions:
Is it possible to buy a second remote key, and how expensive are these? I'm sure some of you have lost a key at one point or another?
My wife can open my car with the standard key but obviously the alarm goes off until she starts the engine - so not ideal.
Thanks in advance

Hello anyone with a towbar on their i30 (bob and ???)
My new towbar came with a neat plastic cover over the"slot" where you poke the tongue in. They just put the tongue with Towball attached in the boot and a couple of chain clasps in my console.
When I put the tongue in the slot two things happened:-
Firstly, when I pushed the pin up from underneath it came up against the base of the plastic bumper so I had to put real pressure under it so I could do the bright orange nut up tightly before putting the locking pin in place.
The when it was tight I could still wobble it slightly side to side. Noisy and would have been noticeable while driving. (major technical fix here, have pens to the ready... I jambed the clip part of a black pen cap in the gap (worked rather nicely but shouldn't have been required)
Then...later noticed a new sticker in my drivers door jamb with towing weights etc... and it says quote "for towing of trailers only" ...lucky I didn't buy that little caravan to put on my new block for amenities use!!!!
Never had a towbar before (except on my Company vehicles) but assumed all towbars were made equal???
Thats it for now (photos to come)
Rgds,
Dazz

My lovely i30 of 3 months was broken into last week with some scumbag putting a brick through the passenger window. They went in the glove compartment and took my handbook and my box of locking wheelnuts which had lain there since July and I kept on delaying putting them with the spare wheel.
The handbook was £35 to replace at the dealers;new wheel nuts were also £35 plus an hours labour to cut off the existing ones at £80! totalling £150 which is my excess! Then a further £60 as excess on a new window. So it cost me £210 for some scumbag to break into my car.
Moral of the story is get those wheel nuts in a safe place in your car!!
PS. What is the procedure to change the clock time?
PPS. Cant access the i30 owners club site when clicking on link?
Regards

Unlucky enough to have puncture. When changing the wheel I noticed that the wheel arch plastic liner on the nearside fitted exactly with the bodywork and had a slight lip which tucked into the sill in a precise fit. The offside wheel arch liner is about an inch longer than the bodywork and extends about an inch below the sill.
Are other i30s the same or is this just a slight fault?

Hello, Advice sought please. My wife has just purchased an i30 and I intend to fit parking/reversing sensors. Can anyone advise if is it necessary to remove the rear bumper or is there access from the under side. If the bumper has to be removed where are the fixings, if access from the under side what has to be removed to gain access.
Thank you.
