Hello.
My Veracruz is two weeks old.
It came equipped with the roof side rails and the crossbars. Both Thule and Yakima tell me that I need to purchase their crossbars to install a cargo box. Is this true? Is there a cargo box that I can install directly to the factory installed crossbars??
Thanks for the help!

Has anyone tried to put a Thule, Yakima or any other brand of bike carrier system on to the factory rack and cross rails?
The hitch system looks like it would ride so low to the ground, I'm shying away from that.
Thanks!

I own a 2007 Veracruz Limited and would really like to get my iPod properly integrated without FM modulation. After combing the forums, nobody has any ideas.
I have one idea I have been considering. Replacing the factory stereo with an aftermarket unit would do the trick, but there are no aftermarket dash or wiring harness kits available that I can find, making this very difficult. Well, the 2008 Veracruz offers a factory navigation system and has a different console trim panel as a result. I was considering purchasing this new trim panel from the parts department of my local dealer and using it to provide a means for installing a double-DIN aftermarket navigation / receiver unit.
If you look at pictures of the '08 console, it looks like the opening that houses the navigation system is larger than a standard double-DIN opening. This would mean a trim place would need to be fabricated to fill in the gaps around the aftermarket unit.
Also, since there are no wiring harness adapters available (that I can find), you would either need to cut the factory wiring harness that leads to the speakers and other components, or fabricate a wiring harness adapter using the various connectors required by the existing factory wiring.
I'm a pretty handy guy and I am capable of performing this type of work, but before I do I was wondering if any of you had ideas of your own that you could share.
One way or another I will find a way to have proper iPod integration / Bluetooth integration / navigation all in one unit. Maybe we can work together to find a way.
Many thanks for your opinions...
Matt

I just got a 2008 Veracruz Ltd. This comes standard with two Proximity keys. First thing I did was to ask for a third key. The dealer claims that I can buy a replacement key, but only two keys can be "active" at at a time for security reasons. I have in the past always purchased extra keys (for CONVENIENCE reasons) for previous vehicles and have doubts that the 2 key limit is related to security (perhaps a design issue).
Looking for a workaround to enable 3 active keys.

This is related to another post about removing the console cover. Does anyone know how to remove the gear shifter knob? The hmaservice site just shows an "up" arrow with the gear shift in neutral. (Implying you simply pull it off)
Well unless I am missing something that didnt work for me. Any ideas? Thanks

I have been shopping for a Veracruz. Is Xenon available? I would find it hard to believe that a flagship car for Hyundai does not offer Xenon! I have xenon on my Mazda 3 and this is the starter car for the Mazda line!!!
I can't seem to find anything in the brochure.

I just would like to find out if anyone else has had problems with the clip that is supposed to hold the drivers side third row seatbelt. I have just now had my second one break and these seems to me to be a design flaw. It appears that the clip is facing the wrong direction and should face the rear of the vehicle. I simply had some boxes in the rear and as they were being removed the a corner caught on the seat belt and "pop" the tension now on the clip is gone. The first time this happen I had a passenger that was simply trying to put on the seat belt and "pop" same thing. The kicker here is that this is not just a simple replacement of the clip under warranty... nooooo... You get to have the entire rear quarter panel replaced because it's all one piece. This seems a little much for a 25 cent piece of plastic.
I just wanted to see if anyone else out there has had this issue. Take a look at this design next time you have the back open. It looks like an oversight here that should be corrected or I can promiss you I'll be back for a third, forth, fifth....

I was using the small compartment in front of my shifter, on the Veracruz, to store my spare change. This is the same compartment that contains the DC accessory port. Anyway, this past weekend a coin feel down in the small space between the front of the tray and the lid that covers it. The result is the door will no longer fully open because it hits the coin. I need to take the console apart to remove the coin since I can see no other way to do it. Does anyone know how to remove the console? I really don't want to start pulling on the parts in fear that I'll break something.

Anyone have issues with starting the Veracruz? I have an 2007 Limited and while I love the gadgets the dealer has had trouble diagnosing the problem. I think I got some poor service, but since telling me there is nothing wrong with the car, they have now replaced the battery, body controller and are now testing all the circuits connected to the transport fuse (which is supposed to keep the battery from draining when the car is transported from the factory to the dealer). Needless to say I'm fairly unhappy about having my car in the shop four times in less than six months and have had to have it boosted 8 or 9 times. Despite some stupid mechanics my first few times in the shop, I would say the dealer has eventually come around and the 1-800 roadside service has been invaluable...
Any one else with similar issues, or am I the only one?

You cannot get a hitch reciever for the 08' Veracruz at all. The dealers cannot even order them, the part numbers don't exist.
Apparently the 07' will not fit. I called eTrailer and they have no info.
This is BS!
"Hello, we'd like to get an oil change on our new car..."
"We're sorry sir, the company doesn't make filters yet."
This is the part where the Korean aspect starts to show through. Kinda like when the compnay advertises Nav and you can't even get it.

I just purchased a GLS AWD for 24320 this is an 07 with 2k in rebates. I looked at a lot of other models but felt that the Veracruz GLS was a great buy. I think Hyundai should advertise this model a bit more. I personally think the value goes down on the more equipt models and I find the gls to have most things that I need.

I am looking into the Limited AWD edition of the VC. I am interested in feedback on "wind" from current owners who drive with the roof open and have/do not have the wind deflector.
Also: Is it worth ordering the carpeted floor mats or does the car come with some mats?

Brand new 2008 purchased a week ago.
Washed the car today and as I was drying the rear of the Veracruz, I noticed brownish-orange spots on top of the chrome tips. Looks like rust, but not below the chrome surface.
Anyone else experiencing this problem?

Air conditioner kit $ 95

Does anyone know the specifics of the January '08 Veracruz lease special?
The HyundaiUSA website shows a $299/month lease on the GLS FWD, but does not give any more detail. For other trims, it says call dealer.
Are they putting a rebate on the MSRP, giving a low finance rate or what? What kind of downpayment might they be requiring?

Anyone else have the issue where when you put the second row down in order to get into the 3rd row, once you put the seat back up, the seatbelt is locked? This has happened and my wife is on her 3rd seatbelt now. The car is in for service again today as they have ordered a part from Hyundai that is a "retro-fit kit" and it will take 4 hours to install I am told. I have searched the web and only found 1 other person speaking about this and nothing about a retro-fit kit anywhere yet.
I know we can't be the only people having this issue. Again, we put down the second row seat on the driver side to access the 2rd row. Once you put the seat back in the upright position, the belt is locked so tight that the leather on the seat is acutally denting and you need to put the seat back down not to make it crease.
Anyone else have this problem and was the "retro-fit kit" ordered for you?

Does anyone know a good replacement blade for the Veracruz that is not the same design as the OEM? I just drove through a blizzard and the factory wiper blades are the worst I've ever seen or used - and my Veracruz only has 3000 miles on it! The new design is simply awful as far as its ability to work in snow. The blades freeze up and would only clean about 1/8 of the windshield no matter how many times I stopped to clean them! There has to be a better design out there to replace the lame OEM wipers. I did a google search and came up with several that are exact replacements and that is not what I would prefer if possible (unless they worked better that OEM). Has anyone else experienced this?

Hello Everyone,
I test drove both a 2007 Santa Fe (no 2008 available) and a 2008 Veracruz. I will most likely purchase one or the other. The Santa Fe rides very well over the small bumps but the larger ones seemed to feel pretty harsh. Even though you still felt the same bumps with the Veracruz, they were not as harsh. Was wondering if anyone else considered the Sant Fe before buying the Veracruz and what there thoughts were?
Thanks, Jeff

Hi,
I'm studying Automotive Engineering in the UK, and one of my lecturers mentioned the Veracruz Engine mounts - which I believe are semi-active to reduce vibration at idle.
Please can anyone expand on this, perhaps giving a description of how it works - I would welcome any pictures/diagrams you may have if its not too much trouble.
Thank you for your help

As rendezvous has been reporting, I heard from the Hyundai Consumer affairs manager today and he informed me the Veracruz Navigation will NOT have a backup camera nor will it be bluetooth compatible.
I am totally bummed out to hear this news. Personally I think its a huge mistake on Hyundais part. Major bonehead mistake. Would love to ask the Veracruz product manager when hes going to return to his job at yugo. Guess I'll just stick a portable on the dash...How cheezy for a $36000 vehicle.

One word. FM modulated

. The kit is works via a hard wired fm modulator. It's a port installed option. Blueconnect is still a good kit as well. If you have a infinity or logic7 system then you would have to have a special harness. For those without you could use a parrot kit with a Quickconnectproducts.com harness. Just wanted to let people know.

Looking to purchase the base model veracruz in the next year and was ready to head over to apa. Unfortunately, APA reponded with the following:
"Unfortnautly we do not have a buying service for this make in your area. We can offer the cost price service if you are interested though."
Any advice here folks? Am I basically going to be stuck paying MSRP on this vehicle?
Thanks!

After MAJOR digging, calls and research, I have found the only place to get a 2008 Veracruz trailer hitch. (For search engines:
2008 Hyundai Veracruz Trailer Hitch.)
Curt makes Hidden Hitch, or Hidden Hitch
IS Curt. No sites carry the part as of this date 10/12/07, and Hyundai says they won't be avaiable for 4-6 months.
Curt Price is $178. Hyundai stock will be $345.
Hyundai charges $345 + install. (A monkey can install this.)

Has anyone heard anything recent in relation to the release of the 2008 Veracruz with Navi? I'd love to know if they are in production in Korea yet and if so when can we expect to see the first ones hit the USA?
After a BBB arbitration hearing Hyundai will be buying back our 2007 Santa Fe and we decided to pay up to the Veracruz. The Navi, bluetooth and hopefully backup camera are features we must have. Cant wait!!

Picked it up last night from Douglas Hyundai in Santa Ana. This guy is the best salesman/ fleet guy we have EVER dealt with. Patiently waited and tried in vain to get us the Black Diamond w/ Saddle interior Limited, 08'. FWD... EXTREMELY hard find. Updated us every single week, and finally got it in, calling us before it was off the truck. This guy has a LOT of pull with Hyundai and grabbed it from a Mid-Western dealer!
Now, I told my lady the Black was going to be a nightmare to keep clean. An SUV in black? Looks phenomenal, especially with 20" Chrome wheels... Imagine cleaning this beast in the hot sun? Every time you take it to the car wash, and then you drive off, water from the trim drips out and dries on the paint. I know, I used to have a detail shop. May as well shoot yourself in the face... I told her to look at the Satin Beige (really a cashmere pearl...) wit the Saddle interior.
The Black Diamond is not really black. It's a graphite metallic. She saw the Black diamond inside a showroom which makes it
look pitch black. That with the Saddle brown leather is incredibly luxurious. It's stunning either way. But impractical as ****.
She then spotted the Satin Beige I told her about and went "Wow" that "actually looks classier." We'll throw some 20"s in Polished aluminum on it, maybe chrome and it'll be done. It looks exactly like a Lexus.
The payment on the AWD was only $20 more!! I will not say what deal he gave us, but it was SMOKING, INSANELY hot on a 24 month 15k, lease. I've seen Mustang ($20,000) payments at this...
High res photos: High speed internet required.
The Saddle is an extremely hard color to photograph. I tried my best and I think they're fairly accurate photos. They are a Burgundy brown Saddle on black accents. Simply hands down the
ONLY interior to get. The black leather and the silver leather look cheapo compared to this,
and they looked great;
UNTIL you see this.
Next add-on a $120 Hidden Hitch receiver and all weather mats.
Check this out, the damned DVD headphones are WIRELESS!! The DVD picture is incredibly sharp and colorful. Not like a lot of crap dealer systems.
I love the surround sound, but to tell you the truth, I am not that happy with their premium sound. I've been driving fiber optic Mercedes and BMW systems for too long I guess. Just not enough mid range and low tones. Maybe replacing with a better amp will help.
I wonder what would happen if one were to play Porn on the DVD while driving

I love my new Veracruz but have two annoying issues that I would like some feedback on
Ignition : It takes too many turns of the engine to start the veracruz. Around 80% of the time it will not start unless I try to do it a second time. My dealer has checked it out but cannot find any fault with the starter. I think it might have something to do with the fuel line but they also discounted that.
Radio: It I change the radion settings ( bass / treble etc) and then turn off the cra upon restart it loses these settings and reverts back to the old ones. This also occurs with radio stations and cd tracks.
Please help!!!

While on Hyundainews.com I compared the specs between the current 2007 model Veracruz and the 2008 Veracruz and noticed they lowered the fuel mileage estimates from 18 city 25 highway for the 2007 to 16 city 23 highway for the 2008. Wonder if
