Has anyone changed the back plugs on the 2.7 V6?? I'm assuming the intake has to be taken apart. It looks like it's 2 pieces. Are there any gaskets?? What are the torque settings for reassembly??

My Monsoon CD/Cassette/AM-FM radio in my 2003 Santa Fe gets lousy radio reception. The antenna is in the rear window on the driver's side. I took it to dealer, thinking the antenna was not connected, or the wire broken; they said it was definitely hooked up, and that there must have been other complaints, and that the newer models have an antenna on the roof. Bottom line is they can't do anything about it. Is this true? Does anybody else out there have this problem?
Thanks.

We just purchased a 2005 Santa Fe on the 15th of April. We took it to a car wash after we got home and found out the sunroof leaks. Water came into the gutter system but did not get into the car. I took the car to a dealer and I was told that this is "normal". I can see all kinds of potential problems during hurricaine season with the hard rain and the gutter system not being able to handle all the water that comes in.
Does anyone else have this problem or have you been told this is "normal" and "designed this way"? My previous car, a Honda, had a sunroof and it never leaked in 5 years so this is just blowing my mind that the Santa Fe is designed this way without a water seal.
Thanks!

I recently purchased a 2001 diesel Santa Fe for towing my caravan. The clutch slips on hill starts. The previous owner has confirmed that the car has had 3 replacement clutches since new. Does anyone know of any cure for this premature clutch failure? My local Hyundai dealer is not being very helpful.

When I put gas in my Santa Fe it stops and clicks saying it's done, but I know it can still go like 2 more gallons so i have to slowly pump in the 2-3 more gallons as it keeps clicking saying its full, I have been to all different gas stations. This happens to me everytime, and if I don't estimate the exact amount that it need then it spills over for like 2 min....anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions of what's wrong??

Hei. bought a 02' Santa Fe about a month ago with tip tronic autom transm,
this may look like a strange question, but I`m not sure how many gear this transmission have? I have 4 lights on the display, I assumed it was 4 gears.
?=When i drive in autom (D) the lights at the display tells me witch gear I`m driving. but the transm is changing gear without changing light at the display. It looks like its 5 gear. This happens in 4. and 3. gear (by light)
Is there a kind of overdrive? or is this in need of adjustment.
I`l hope you all could understand my "not so good" english

Hi folks,
I'm thinking about boosting the performance in my wife's 04 Santa Fe. From what I gather it's the same 2.7L in the Tib so the aftermarket is setup pretty well. I also know that Alpine makes a supercharger for the 01-03 Santa Fe, which also fits the 03-05 Tiburon. Seems they left out the 04 model.
Does anyone know any differences between the an 03 and 04 Santa Fe, engine-wise? I'd assume that they just haven't tested it on an 04 yet and therefore can't give it the stamp of approval.
And are there any other supercharger kits out there that may work?
Turbo would be nice but I'd rather have the torque of a supercharger on this particular car.
Thanks!

On our 2005 Santa Fe we have the roof rack with the two cross rails across the SUV for bikes. They came on the car. Today we decided to move them and looking at the bars there is an area that you pop up which releases the tension on the bar so that you can move it forward or backward. On top of the bar there is a circle with a small H and you turn that which unlocks the tension snap and then you pull up the snap that releases the hold on the main cargo bars. The "lock" or the small H is what we are concerned about inside as this is where the two small plastic teeth are and they are not very solid. Please tell me this isn't the only thing holding this bar on and if they break closing the lock will not hold the bars on. Also can you buy just this small piece should it break?
This is what mine look like:

Can someone please help. My 2001 Santa Fe started to jump and shake when stopped at a red light. Sometimes, it would die. Now, I have to hold my foot on the brake and the gas pedal just to keep it running. If you put the car in neutral then it stops jumping. Yesterday, it started jumping and shaking while I was driving down the highway. When you first start off, it hesitates. Feels like it doesn't want to go and takes off really slowl. Can someone please tell me what is wrong with it. I have had the out put speed sensor, catalytic converter and the pre-catalytic converter replaced. And now the gas gage doesn't work either. I guess I just have bad luck!

The dealer said that we should use Armor All on the dash and doors of the Santa Fe. He did not recommend using that on the black area where the vents and radio are since it is a grain plastic. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to use for cleaning and protecting this part of the dash as it is in the sunlight.
Thanks!

Hi, I'm a first time hyundai buyer and just got a lovely 2001 Santa fe.
I'm very pleased with it, but I can't figure out if it is a 4wd or 2wd version. I have read that both were available over here (Ireland). Its a 2.0 litre (1973cc) version.
Any tips on what I sould look out for to tell if it is a 4wd?
Thanks,
T.

I want to service the transmission on my 01' Santa Fe. The specified fluid is Diamond ATF SP-11m. I have heard that mercon3 or 5 are not compatible but ATF+3 or 4 are. Does anyone know of compatibility between the two? I'm a poor do-it-yourselfer so I despise going to dealers for service I can perform myself.

hello everyone, am the proud owner of a new 2005 santa fe v6 automatic. am having a problem with consumption which is reaching 16litres/100km. i have taken car to Hyundai and some adjustments to computer were made. I am also given to understand that the model marketed in my country does not have o2 sensors....not sure what the absence of these sensors mean and whether this means that the engine management system is not working effeciently??
does anyone have the same experience??

I just got the transmission fluid changed at an independant
mechanic. They had to get the fluid direct from Hyundai.
The mechanic informed me that the transmission, (2.7L, AWD),
doesn't have an internal filter. The service kit includes one
but there is no place to install it in the transmission. I would
have liked to see for myself, but it was already re-sealed
when I got there. Without a filter, the fluid changes become
more important.

Hello. I've owned my Santa Fe 2003 GLS now for a couple yrs. It's got about 26,000 miles on it. Occassionally (a couple times a month) I'll be driving in cruise about 65mph and the car will buck/jump. Since I can't consistantly replicate the problem, Hyundai says they can't do anything. This is startling when it happens and I'd love to get it fixed. Has anyone ever heard of this happening?
Also, about a half dozen times, the car has stalled coming to a complete stop at a stop light. This sucks too!
Thanks in advance for any help!

I have had my SF CRTD for 3 months now and have yet been unable to purchase a workshop manual. I have tried the Haynes website, but nothing doing there. The Owner's Manual gives a basic overview but I would like to have a more in-depth knowledge of the vehicle (I do not need to use the manual in earnest).
Any ideas/suggestions?

Hello All,
I am the owner of a 2001 Santa Fe with 85,000 miles. I drive many highway miles due to my occupation. I am in the process of fighting with the "H" word company to cover my repairs for the oilpan. Since I've had the truck, I've had to replace the timing chain twice (once the timing device fell and left me stranded on the highway), spark plug cables twice (now the coils are bad). It seems that the oilpan is exposed to the airstream and gets sandblasted in the Northeast states due to sand, salt and loose gravel from potholes. It has chipped away at the oilpan and has caused it to flake in big pieces. One of those flakes, as it shed, has caused the oil pan to leak oil. The dealer and "H" say they are not responsible for rust. I explained that it is a poor design as it is exposed to the airstrem and too close to the exhaust pipe.
DEAF EARS.
If anyone finds that their oilpan is terribly rusted, please send me a picture so I can fight this for everyone. Or, we can get together and compose something to send to the proper agencies.
Regards,
Rafael Gonzalez

Have just bought a new Santa Fe Diesel, mainly for my wife to use as a tow car for her horse trailer.
1) It came just befor the heavy snow in Kent and was a real boon, good on icy roads and through the drifts. never got stuck.
2)Very good value for money with all the extras. Bought reversing sensors, boot tray and roof rack and fitted an inside/ outside thermometer as none provided by Hyundai.
3) Not happy that fuel is measured in US gallons only an that, apparently Hyundai are not prepered to do anything about it.
4) First fuel consumption test LOUSY, only got 23mpg on fists fill up, mainly on rural roads and motorway( all without trailer). expected at least 30mpg ( stated combined mpg)
Dealer says that engine is tight and will improve given time!!!!!!! will report later.
5) First towing experience very good. mpg indicated at about 20mpg ( i.e. computed USmpg times 1.2) This is with horse trailer and 1 horse,( ca 1.3tons)
Fitted tow bar OK but no protection of rear bumper when backing up to trailer. I have fitted a plastic plate on the top of the hitch fitting to prevent bumper damage!!!!!!
Would appreciate comments
Peter

Just got an 04 Santa Fe, we have gotten horrible mileage out of it since we got it. I thought it was just due to a new motor and break in period, we took it to the dealer because one service guy said to bring it up that we should be getting better then 16 miles to the gallon on the highway. When we got up there another guy said no that the break in period will go to about 6,000 - 10,000 miles, we only have 1500 on it. They checked it out anyway, and said it was clean as a whistle. Is anyone else having this? does it get better after the break in period. Oh and we have the 3.5L V6.
Thanks for any replies.
