For the past few weeks I have been trialling a tuning box manufactured by a German company ASA Autotechnik Saretz and I have compiled the attached report giving details of my findings. Should you want more info from me contact via a personal email and I will try to answer those questions posed.

Members in other Countries should check shipping costs prior to purchasing but I have been advised that they will be as reasonable as is possible)
Please Note: -
This is a considerable saving on the regular ASA Autotechnik Saretz Internet price of €148 plus postage.
This is the best available offer on the Internet. Contact them by Email to order at
shop@autotechnik-saretz.de ENGLISH is spoken and understood.
When ordering please quote reference Itza/ASA ECO CR/Special Offer

Hi! I have a 2006 Santa Fe and I have acquired some "gashes" -- they are rather deep scratches -- in my passenger side door cladding and some random nicks and scratches on my rear bumper cladding. While the rear cladding nicks are not nearly as bad as the door gashes, they still bother me and I'm trying to figure out what my best bet is to get rid of these (or at least mask them). C
an scratches on the material that the cladding is made out of be buffed out? I know the side cladding can be replaced, but since the scratches on the rear cladding are relatively small, replacement does not appear to be very economical.
Any suggestions or ideas would be much appreciated! Thanks

Hi I'm looking at a 2001 GLS with 95000 miles, what should I be looking for? They tell me at idle there's a ticking sound, but if they increase the rpm it goes away.
Is this "normal" for the V6?
It's a dealer so I don't know the service history.
Thanks

Hi
I have a sensor that is on its way out, I'm told by my dealer that it is bank 1 sensor 1 and the part number is 39210 37125. Can anyone tell me where this one is, I have looked at the locations someone posted up as word docs but I can't tell which one is bank 1 sensor 1!! I've attached the doc to save searching!
[attachmentid=8757]
Also, is there an easy way to switch the odometer from Miles to KMs?
thanks
Marty

Hey everyone - I've been reading this forum for a while but haven't posted much. But now I need you help. I'm having intermittent problems with the air conditioner on my 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe. If it matters, it's a 2wd, 3.5 liter model with about 66,000 miles. Below I will post a description of what's happening, as well as some other things that I've noticed and things that I've tried (these may or may not be relevant to the problem though). OK, here's what's happening:
I first noticed the problem back in late July and since then it has been happening more frequently. So far the problem only occurs after I've been driving on the interstate, although I'm not sure if it's a matter of my speed, or just a matter of how long the a/c has been running. Typically I only drive 15 minutes at a time unless I'm on the interstate where I would typically drive for a few hours or so. What's happening is that after a while (the time varies from 20 minutes to an hour or so) the flow of the air conditioning coming through the vents slows down to just a trickle. The a/c is still really cold, but it just barely comes out of the vents, no matter what speed I set it on. Here are some things that I've noticed (and a few things that I've done to try to repair it):
1.) I read that it might be the cabin air filter, even though normally Santa Fe's aren't equipped with them. I took the glove box out, and found the spot where the air filter normally goes and there was one installed (we bought the car used). I took it out and it was disgustingly dirty - a bunch of dirt, some leaves, sticks, etc... I just took out the filter completely and didn't replace it.
2.) While I was looking at that air filter, I also noticed that the box right to the left of that filter was wet with condensation. This was right after a two hour drive with the A/C on maximum cold all the way home though, so I don't know if that is normal or not. It wasn't dripping on the floor, but there was noticeable condensation on that box (sorry, I'm not technical and I don't know what that "box" is).
3.) The problem will sometimes go away if I turn the air conditioning completely off for about 5-10 minutes. It seems that the longer I leave the a/c off the better chance I have of it working when I turn it back on.
4.) When I change the fan speed on the air conditioning I can hear the blower motor running at different levels. It almost sounds as if there's something in the dash that is clogging up the pipes. I can hear a whistling sound when the blower is on the lowest speed - when it's up any higher than that I can't hear it, but that's probably just because of the noise coming from the blower itself.
5.) I had the problem today, and I stopped at a gas station to get a drink. When I got back into the car I heard the sound of water trickling from underneath the glove box. It was very quiet, but it was there.
6.) When we have this problem, it happens on all of the vents. It doesn't matter what vent you choose for the air to come out of - the flow is just a trickle.
7.) It doesn't matter if it is heat or cold - the flow is very slow on both of these.
8.) The a/c is still ice cold during all of this. It blows colder than any other a/c that I've ever had.
9.) I noticed that sometimes while driving, a white mist will come out of the vents. Sometimes we have the problem above after we see the mist - sometimes it still works fine though, but I did think it was odd that the "mist" was coming out. I'm not sure if it's water vapor or what, but it does go away if you turn the temperature control a little to the warm side (even just a notch or two away from max cold).
Originally, I had thought that it was the blower motor and I was just going to replace it, but then I started thinking about it and don't think that it is the blower motor because it seems to be working well most of the time, and even when I have the problem I can hear it running - again it sounds like something is clogging up the a/c system somewhere between the blower and the vents. I also read some things about the blend doors, but I'm not sure if that's it or not.
Does anybody have any ideas what this might be or where I should look? I'm not very technical, but I'll try anything as long as I've got some instructions. Thanks in advance for your help!
-Andrew

For anyone with one of these Santa Fe's , I would suggest you pull the rear wiper arm and remove the plastic cap, the big nut and the rubber trim gasket...
This can all be done in 5 minutes....
Pre-supposing that the arm isn't already corroded onto the shaft and you have to go fetch a puller....
use some grease, never sieze or something and apply to the large thread etc coming out of the tail gate..
Mine was so bad that I destroyed the housing threads and had to get a new motor...
The dealer here in Canada says 300 dollars plus for a new one....
I should have pulled the arm of at about 80,000 kms, 2 years ago when the wiper didn't work...
Thats another story!!!

The wifes 02 Santa Fe has a bad tranny cooler. Leak is from the core and not the hoses. I am pretty mechanical and am thinking about trying to fix it myself. I see the bumper needs to be removed? Is there a write up on how the bumper comes off???
Anybody done this fix and have any pointers?

Hi all
I have just picked up a March 2005 Santa Fe 2.0 CRTD CDX manual gear ( UK Right Hand Drive )and i am really happy with it except i would like to add a few mods.
Unfortunately most of these combine with a dash mounted AV unit which needs a double DIN hole and my SF has a single DIN socket with a small pocket underneath which suggests to me that the dash section could be removed and a double DIN dash refitted in place!
Can anyone help with info on this, either on how to do it or where to get a kit from??
Also trying to find out if doors can be set to auto lock after leaving car with alarm setting itself and any open windows self closing? My old VW Golf used to do this but not sure how.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Kev

Ok, so I'm working on a 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe, 93,000 miles. The vehicle runs great! So great that you cant get it to stop running!! The problem is intermitent and generally happens after the vehicle has been running for atleast 3 minutes. I turn the key off and she keeps on running (not dieseling, but running at 340-450 rpms!) I have already removed the aftermarket remote start that was installed on the vehicle thinking that was the problem, it was not. Then I went to the ignition switch and unplugged that, also to no avail! I plugged my scan tool in and can communicate with the computer and view pids while the key is on. When I turn the key off, I
should loose communication. When everythings acting normal and the car actually shuts off with the key, I loose communication with the computer upon turning the key off. When I turn the key off and the veh. keeps running, I do NOT loose communication with the pcm. The only way to shut the car off is to step on the gas pedal. Otherwise it'll run at 400 or so RPM for an hour or so!!
Anyone have anyyy ideas at all?!
Thanks in advance for your help!

I just had the 41,500 service done on my 2006 Santa Fe, which also included a tire balance. When I left the dealership on Friday, everything seemed okay. However, this morning while I was driving to work, I noticed that my steering wheel was vibrating. The intensity of the vibration varied throughout my trip (which is mostly highway). I am perplexed b/c I just had my tires balanced and I noticed that another member posted a similar problem and the solution that most other members suggested was a tire balance.
Any idea why this is occuring? I've never had this problem before.
Thanks for any input and suggestions!

Hello Folks...hope all is well?
HOPE YOU CAN HELP ME.
I have a 2002 Hyundai santa Fe. I have been having issues with the TPS (Throttle Position sensor) / or throttle body sensor. The dealer changed the sensor in June08, then it came back this past Thursday. The dealer ordered the part and changed it this past Friday. I drove home, and a couple of times on the weekend and it was fine. Sunday night it acted up again. Basically in neutral if I rev the motor it revs high and idles no problem; but if I try to keep the revs at 2000rpm or 3000rpm constant it goes down in revs and then comes up again on its own. When in drive I have to go to 4000rpm to shift to next gear. Could it be that by chance it was a batch of bad sensors? The trany shifts great, when the sensor does not act up, and the motor revs up and idles great? It's still at dealer and they now think it might be the ECM acting up?? Help and ideas??
THANKS

ac was working normally, than overnight it started to blow out hot air the next day. The outside temp is 74 degrees and the vent air temp is 90 degrees with the ac on. The warm cold dial is set to coldenst setting. ac suct pressure is 30 psi.
Whenever i press ac switch on, i hear a hissing sound like a vacuum hose is leaking. The sound comes from the passenger side where the blower motor is mounted. When I shut off ac, sound stops hissing and gos away.
There is a small door that is attached to this blower housing that is kept closed by clips. Dont know what access its for. I have opened it but couldnt see much.
The hissing sound started same time problem did.

Ok, well, is my 01 santafe supposed to flash any lights or anything when locking with the remote? The parking lights will flash twice when unlocking, but nothing when locking (even pressing the button twice). Also, im guessing this one has an alarm but i cant figure out how to get it to go off. It has the sticker on the window (for the security system) but someone told me that if your lights dont flash when you lock it, then your alarm isnt armed.. im confused lol. Hey there everyone...My wife and I have just picked up a 02 Santa Fe 2.7L AWD in place of our aging '96 4Runner...I have to say we just LOVE the truck...but there is a little problem...We just had our second child. (not really a problem)
When I try to engage the 'autolock' mechanism on the belt behind the driver's seat (back bench area)..it works well (ie pull the belt all the way out..until a click..then release until belt is tight)..
However when I try it on the seat behind the the passenger front seat..it doesn't work..am I missing something
PS - I love this forum...lotsa tips for the newbies..Hopefully when I learn more..I can actually contribute!!

Has anyone besides me ever used Master Wax? I think it was pure carnauba based.
Back in the early '70's (yes, I'm officially a Geezer!) I used Master Wax paste on a seriously weathered, downright chalky Pagoda Green 1964 Ford Galaxie. It was easy to apply but it dried quickly and was really hard to buff off. I waxed the car, one coat only, in June of 1971 and traded it in January 1972. It was still shiny and water still beaded - seven months later! I remember a ridge of wax on the left rear fender that dried in place before I could buff it, and it was still there when I got rid of the car.
Is there anything on the market comparable to Master Wax? It seems everybody wants a polish that's easy to use but the downside is that it doesn't last very long. I'm willing to use some elbow grease once or twice a year if it means the wax will stay on the car and won't need reapplication every two months or so.

Does anyone else have this problem like i do? Its almost unbearable, theres usually a whirring noise mixed in with the normal road noise. It doesnt matter the condition of the road, even the newest, smoothest roads sound horrible (maybe even worse than the rougher ones) Ive had everything imaginable checked and no mechanic can't find anything

Anyone have any experience with Wild Country tires? Theyre touring suv and still have plenty of tread on them, so i dont figure they would be the problem. I also heard it might just be something to do with the AWD, could this be the case and do i just have to live with it? Thanks!!

The car runs beautifully overall but just after a fill-up it takes a bit of work to get it to start. After several tries, it always DOES start, runs rough for a bit, then smooths out and is fine after that.
I've heard that there might be an issue with something called a "purge control valve"? If you concur, is it something that I can replace myself? Any idea of part# and cost?
Thanks much from a new member. Look forward to visiting here frequently!

Hi, I'm new here. I know hardly anything about cars....dogs, yes, but cars??? Well, I know how to pump gas, change a tire, check my oil....that's about it.
I lost my keys and remote so I had to get replacements and since I didn't have my car at the dealer, I couldn't have the remote programmed.
I was told that I had to bring it to them so they can program the remote by using a computer. I was also told that I could not bring my car to any other dealer. In the past I have programmed a remote on my old car (a Subaru) with hardly any trouble. So, can I program my 2003 Santa Fe on my own? Are the instructions on the Service Technology Website? Or is it

?
Thanks!

I have a March 2005 Santa Fe which has a single DIN Hyundai stereo fitted.
I am looking to change the dash panel to a Double DIN, as i have seen on several US Santa Fe's, but have not been able to source a panel in the UK.
I was hoping one of the US owners could find out if the panels are compatable with fixtures ( they look identical to me but would need confirmation.
Any help greatly appreciated.
I have attached a photo of my dash.

For those of you with the 3.5 how is your gas mileage and how has the reliablity been? I know the 2.7's are great, but I don't have much experience with the 3.5's. The reason I ask is because I need to downsize and I'm looking at an 04 GLS 4WD with the 3.5 in Pewter. It only has 24,815 miles on it and it has a sunroof, running boards, and the 6 disc. It's in amazing shape with only one scratch and I believe it needs an alignment because when I accelerate it pulls to the right and the wheel vibrates. The previous owner obviously took care of it. I may purchase Monday night.
Thoughts and opinions are greatly appreciated.
edit: By the way the price is $11,979.
