Hello everyone! I used to be a member on RDtiburon.com, as ID 2kShark. I owned a black on black Tibby with lots of modifications.

I have a bunch of stock parts that have been laying around in the basement. I will be listing all of them on the Facebook Marketplace exclusively.

Some of the parts include (4) 17 x 7 Konig Tantrum rims in silver, which are currently listed. I also have a fairly new stock manifold with less than 10 miles on it (because it was quickly upgraded to an R-Side 4-2-1 header at the time:P), with the heat shield. I also have the 1.8L cam which I never had the chance to bolt on to my RD2. Stock RD2 springs are also intact.

Recently I have also found a factory RD2 spoiler painted the stock black. There are several more parts. I will be selling all of these AS IS, however for now I cannot currently ship anything out of the area, so my parts are limited to local pick up only. I will however be willing to locally commute to meet for exhange of most wanted parts.

Will the Transmission for an 98 Elantra AT 1.8 work in a 97 Tiburon AT 1.8 ?

I am having one heck of a time finding a tiburon transmission in my area.

I have a 99 Tiburon. I have the P0441 MIL. After looking on the hmaservice site, it looks like a Purge Control Solenoid Valve stuck open. However, I cannot find that part anywhere! I work at Advance Auto Parts and we don't even have that. Does anyone know where I can get one?

hi everyone im new to the site. there seems to be endless amounts of info here which is great!
is there any way to manually read engine codes without taking it to the garage?? my car is sputtering and seems to be down on a cylinder but is not. the check engine light is flashing on and off constantly and the car has no power.. almost like is not getting its fuel well..
my plugs, wires and coils are working properly... so im thinking it must be a sensor...
can anyone help me here.. thx in advance

I bought a used 2000 Tibby about 6 months ago, and I love it! It had some engine problems at first, with the engine hesitating when i tried to accelerate, but replacing the spark plugs fixed all that.

Ok, back to the main point. I left my headlights on in the parking lot one day and had to jumpstart it with another car. I was rather rushed and connected it wrong, and had a little '"fireworks" in the hood of my car.

In the end, I had to replace the main fuse (the 100A) one, and I bought a new battery, one of those "titanium" ones from advanced auto parts (i'm not sure if I really needed to buy a new one, but i guess i was just being safe)

so after i replaced the battery and fuse, my car started up fine (what a relief!), but some time later i noticed the stereo wasn't coming on. I thought the stereo was a problem so I took the opportunity to upgrade to a new stereo, from best buy. I had to manually connect the wires, but the new stereo doesn't turn on too.

No lights, nothing! Not even an error code!

I checked the fuses, the all seem to be fine. What could be the problem? I looked in the hyundai manuals and stereo manuals, and connecting the wires seemed straightforward enough, i dont think I could have screwed that part up.

Also, there is this "Power connector" thing in the fuse box that straddles two fuse slots, and according to the manual it also protects the audio circuit. I couldn't get it out so i couldn't check it, does anyone know what this is?

I've just put new performance cams in my 1999 hyundai tiburon fx from cat cams. Now I'm getting a check engine light. I've hooked my computer up to it and the code is p0434 camchaft postion sensor high input. Wondering why I would be getting this code? Do I need a new sensor to work with these cams or ? I did not put the better rpm valve springs in could that be the reason?

I just bought a used 2000 auto ( ) tibby with 60K miles. What service is reco'd at this time? I believe spark plugs, fuel filter/air filter/ timing belt/tranny flush

- Where is the fuel filter located and how bad is it to chang it?
- How about spark plugs? I think I need to take the black cover off the engine.
- Does the fuel injection cleaning at wally mart for 20 bucks do any good?

Anything else? The car sputter sometimes at very slow speeds. sometimes it feels like it hesitates going from 1st to second gear...I hope the tranny is good!

Hi living in the UK I've never had much use for the Air con but since we're getting a bit of sun for a change it would really come in handy! Probable is it's never worked, the light comes on and theres a small noise from under the bonet meaning something is happening but inside the car nothings getting cooler! I've tried leaving it on for ages with the window up but still no joy.

I'm useless at fixing cars but is there anything I could have a look at my self before I get a pro to fix it?

One small thing also, how can I safely pop the clock out? It keeps flickering and looks just like a loose wire or something but I've got no idea how to get it out without damaging the interior.

Hey guys, I recently bought a 2000 tib and it has started to stall or just sputter when I try to start it. I replaced the fuel pump and relay and put a new fuel filter in it. Anyone have a suggestion? Also there is a short some when causing the door alarm to ding every once in a while when rolling the drivers side window up or down. any help would be great thanks.

I need to figure out where is the intake of the AC when it set to circulate the air inside the car? Reason is I need to clean the channel were the air passes because is beginning to have a bad smell. I have an AC system cleaner but cannot use it until I can figure out where dose the system suck the air from to send it out through the vents.

Couldnt find in the owners manual the oil filter part number I need. Should I trust whatever the guy at Murrays tells me I need, or is it a very specific Hyundai part?

By the way, is there anyway to do a search, and it be limited to just the Tiburon forum?

hey,, i have my 01 tiburon and the engine sounds like its clogged or stoped up,sounds like a lawn mower. i pulled the converter from under the car and it looks just fine. im wondering if its a exhaust leak??? but i see that there is a cat-like looking pieces that flows down from the exhaust manifold. is this another catalytic converter?? and if so could it be stopped up and cause the lawn mowing sound? i was thinking if a headder will also solve this problem...

Ok so I just bought a Cold Air Intake for my 2001 Tiburon. I bought an AEM with a bypass value for about $210. My question is about if it's going to fit or not. I had one website tell me it would not because it's for an 01' with a manuel transmission only yet another website told me they saw nothing in there paper work about transmisson type and said it's listed as fitting the 01' 2.0L 4 cyl. Tiburon. I'm thinking there must be a big difference between the manuel and automatic versions of the cars though because Injen lists there CAI for the 01' specifically for manuel only. Can anyone answer this question for me? Thanks.

1. I'm looking to clean my engine rally well, make it shine like new. What cleaning agent should I use that wont cause any damage.

2. When I get the money, what is the best online store to purchase a cat-back exhaust and headers.

3. Does it really make a difference what kind of CAI I buy as long as I have a nice filter on it?

hello, i just got a used 2001 hyundai tiburon...im satisfied with it..howveer i do have a question..im a first time driver so i dont know much about the mechanics of cars except from experience. i was wondering if anyone could tell me what the purpose of the overdrive button is, when to use it, and why...somone told me its just for towing, others say for more power, and somone said it can save me gas on the highway? Totally cluless...

I've got a 2001 automatic Tiburon. There are 148,000 miles on it and it's been a good, reliable car. This may be the big one, though. Lately, the check engine light has gone on. The AC goes out when it's idling at a drive through or in stop and go traffic and we have to get it up to 40/45 mph for it to kick back in. Then it's fine. Just this morning the car wouldn't shift up from 15 mph to the next gear. Took it in but they can't even get to it today. Is this the entire transmission or something else? And are the two problems connected? What's a transmission cost?

Recently my car made 100.000 km. There are no engine problems but i start thinking to replace it because sooner or later problems will appear (althought i just love this car). I know that if you make the services on time you can extend your engines life but for how long?
I would like to hear your opinion, how many km have you done with your car? Are there any problems?

At 86,000 miles the 2001 Tiburon has developed an intermittent ignition problem (not a starter problem – turns over fine). The engine has never stalled when running but will start hard or just not start but an hour later it will start again. Now it will not start at all. The service engine light has never came on. When the car does not start there is no spark at the coils. I have Ohm tested the coil pack both when the car would and would not start and both times the readings were the same - .002 Ohm primary coil and 10.6K Ohm secondary coil. The coil pack test instructions from Hyundai's website specifies .45 - .55 Ohms at the primary coil and 10.3 – 13.9 K Ohms at the secondary coil. Based on this information I bought a new coil pack only to find that it tested identically to the original unit and the car still has no spark with the new coil pack installed. Have tried resetting the ECM by disconnecting the battery but it did not help.

What advantages does a wet or dry NITROUS kit have for V6 tiburon. Are the 75hp increases worth any potential engine problems? Has any brand or set up been more successful on the V6?

I have a 2001 tiburon...there is a humming noise coming from the rear wheels, it stops when I make a left turn but comes back once I straighten out...wheel bearing or tire? anybody have any ideas?..and also lately it has been stalling, mostly when its in reverse or just sitting idling? well hope somone can help me...thanks

There is a switch next to my transmission, i guess thats what you would call it, that says PWR and NORM. What i mean by transmission is where you switch your car into park nuetral drive and so on. In owners manual it just says it releases your cars full potential. Which sounds funny. SO what happens when you switch this to PWR(stands for power)?

hey, i have a problem w/ my 99 tib, i'm trying to take off the manifold to weld it but the cat and the manifold look like they are connected together by either a weld or something else, there is no bolts that i can see connecting them. i bought my car salvaged so i'm not sure if this is stock or what, but i was wondering if anyone else had a problem like this also. i've been trying to take off the bolts from the flex to the cat and then i could get a closer look but they are very stubborn, their soaking in wd40 as i'm typing this up
anyways if any of you know any remedy to this problem w/o taking the whole cat/manifold assy off first that'd be great! thanks

Hopefully someone can help me with this.

On my 2000 tib, the cd player takes in the cd, and after a moment spits it out with an er6 code. This happens with any CD. I already removed the whole stereo unit, tinkered around with the CD loader springs, and put it back, but still the same story. I tried resetting the CD player by holding down the eject button for 5 seconds as stated in the online workshop manual, but this didnt even make it fart, i.e. it didnt seem to be resetting anything.

Anyone have any ideas or advice?

my 2000 tiburon is having some problems. Recently i fixed my starting problem by replacing my crankshaft posistioning sensor. But for a while now my car wont shift out of park, and when i use the 'shift lock overdrive' button and put my car into drive it blows my fuse for my turning signals, and my car acts like its in a high gear, so it starts out very slow, i took it to autozone to get the check engine light checked out, and they gave me 3 codes, P0335, which was the crankshaft positioning sensor, which I fixed, P0441, which is Evap. emission control system purge valve permanently open, and P1613, which is MIL request signal circuit high input. if anyone has any ideas can u please help me?

I am having trouble getting my 1998 tiburon, 2.0 manual tiburon to start. I found the alarm radio fuse was blown and there is no voltage on the headlamp fuses. When i turn the key the warning lights all come on but I can't get any response to the starter.

Please give me some ideas on other things to check

I recently bought a 2000 Tib from a friend. I had a new job, driving 8-9 hours a day in the tib. (2.0L being good on gas) The second day on the job, while on the highway I pulled into a rest area and shut the tib off. When I turned the key to start the car back up, I smelled a very pungent smell come in through the ac vents. It only lingered for about ten seconds, and there was a little smoke coming from the hood. The car was running, and continued to run for the rest of the day. The next morning I went to start the tib and it wouldn't turn over. Only the red lights on the door panel and the open door light came on. The dinging still works when you have the key in as well, but the tib does not show any other signs of life. If anyone could give me any information regarding diagnosis, or ways to tell what is or isnt wrong with it would be awesome.

Is it hard to change the transmission filter and fluid on a 97 tiburon? I was thinking of doing that this weekend and was told that it can be done without having a shop do it. Is it easy or would you recommend taking it in and getting it done at a shop?

I have a 2000 Tiburon and I want to remove my back seats and reupholster them, i know that i can just pop the bottom out easily but im not sure how to take the backrests out. I know this is probably a stupid question but any help would be appreciated.

I have a 1999 Tiburon and just recently had a flat front tire. We took it to the shop, and they showed us that the alignment was way off which caused the inside of the tires to wear all the way down // \\. After we decided to get 4 new tires ($550) they called and said that the front left bearing needed to be changed before they could do an alignment ($350).

I'm poor. So I need to do this myself one way or another. My question for all you is, could you tell me what parts / tools I will need to do this? I've seen similar posts here and around the web, but not 99 tib specific. Some have said you need a 10 ton press. Some have said it's a 20 minute job. Thanks for any help you can offer!!!!

New here so first I'll say Hi...

I just got a 01 tiburon 2.0L 5 speed and I love it...

The driver's side interior front light (reading light/dome light) won't come on, yet the passenger side light does come on. I have tried pushing the buttons, door switch etc but that doesn't work. How could I fix this? I don't know how to get the cover off i guess that is what I'm asking...either that or some other troubleshooting techniques...I installed an aftermarket radio recently so maybe I messed something up when I did that
