After about a month of purchasing my Azzy my center console started to sound like a styrofoam cooler riding in the bed of a pickup. If your rest your arm on it "sqeeeeek", if you push on it "squeeeeek", and just driving down the road "squeek squeek squeek". My Hyundai dealler said there is nothing they can do for it. WTF!!!!!!!!!! I just paid for a so called luxury car and it sounds like a YUGO!!!!!! Anyone esle notice this squeeking, or creaking noise from their console? Along with the front suspension knock, I am ****!

1) I was wondering why I was getting only 21 mpg while doing 90% highway and 10% city. I was looking at the manual and found out that any time you use the "auto" heating feature and the ambient temerature is less then 33 degrees or more then 34, the A/C is used to heat/ cool the car. In addition, when you use the defrost function the A/C is used as well. I am going to try the manual feature and see if my milage increases.
2) I have found out that Jazz equilizer setting works good for Jazz (surprise) but the Rock has to much bass for Rock. Has anyone found a good manual setting for all music?

The other day I took my Azera 3.8litre in for an oil & filter change, I brought my own Mobil1 5W20. In the manual it says that it takes 5.6 litres, but of the 6 litres I gave the Service Dept 1 was returned to me. Now I am wondering, did the mechanic not let all the oil drain or did he not change the filter for the level is up to full or is the manual incorrect. What think you Azera owners?

Having problems with out side mirrors. My right hand mirror does not want to move in and out. If you push on it you can get it to move sometimes. It moves up and down fine. Don’t want the dealer to take the door apart in fear that I will end up with rattles, besides they are 200 miles away. Any suggestions? Does anyone know how they come apart?

A friend of mine wants to buy a car really bad but still likes his old car and doesn't want to part with it. It is the dangest thing. So the other day he went down in the parking lot and looked at my Azera. "He said sure is a pretty car." I said "here are the keys take it out for the day." HE did and returned it later on in the day. He really like the ride and the feel of the car and that is when he said "I went up to the dealer today and looked at the Sonata. You know the one that is loaded up for $24,500.
I told him that I looked at that car before I bought the Azera. That Sonata is a great car but for an extra 1000.00 bucks you can get a Azera Limited with more stuff on it. He likes the Sonata so I told him to contact the owner of the dealership who he knows very well and have him work out a price on the Sonata model you like the best.
He just doesn't get it. This Sonata is loaded with more options than the Toyota Camry or Honda Accord and is several thousand dollars less. I told him just wait a few more years and Hyundai will be pushing these guys to the limit as they are gaining market share of the other car companies. Hyundai offers more car for the money and the quality is far better than ever before.
He said I think you may be right as the fit and the finish is great plus the car does have plenty of options. Now he thinks he may buy one before the end of November.

I am looking to buy an Azera. I've heard that the prices will drop a little bit in October/November when the dealerships get their new models (next year) and so they want to get rid of the current models. IS this true? How much can I expect to save if I wait two-three months?

Tomorrow evening I pick up my first Hyundai. It is a black on black Azera with Ultimate package. I can't believe the value this car provides. After comparing to what's available from Toyota, Honda and Nissan it was an easy choice.

We just bought a new 2006 Azera. We love the car. About 2 days after buying the car we went to Taco Bell and order some food from the Drive through. Everything you order at Taco Bell comes with a garbage can size soft dirnk. I ordered a Pepsi. When we got to the window and I was bringing the wet massive amount of cola into the car (which I didn't even want), I lost my grip and spilled the whole cup all over the center console.
We cleaned up as mush as we could and thought we had done a good job but about 2 weeks later we noticed the shifter was getting hard to move. The plastic sleeve was binding when you try to move the shifter.
Clearly some of the cola went into the console and dried into a sticky goop.
Can someone tell me how or send me a link to where I can find instructions to remove the center console and clean out the mess?
I've tried stuffing alchohol drenched quetips between the sleeve and the console to clean it out but it's not really working.
I've looked closey and can only find three screws on the each side of the console. I'd hate to have to pay the dealership for something like this.

I read at Edmunds that some customers were having problems with the sub woofer causing a rattle whenever they were playing a song with heavy base. They took it too their dealership and the dealer just told the customer to turn down the base.
That clearly is NOT a fix. It's more of a work around. I was having the same problem with my Azera. As I like my music with heavy base and quite loud, this was becoming quite annoying.
I decided to investigate the problem and discover that the door to the baby seat anchor on the driver side was sitting on the metal underneath the headboard. I got some weather stripping and cut out a couple of 1 inch strips. I then stuffed them under the plastic coller which surrounds the baby seat achor. My sound system is now clean at any volume level.
I'd post this fix at Edmonds but frankly I just don't have the time to figure out that message board.
If your having a similar problem, open the doors to your baby seat anchors and gently pull up on them. This will pull the head borad off the metal underneath. If the rattle goes away, you'll know where to place your weather stripping.

Hyundai unveiled its newest top-end sedan, the Azera (“the era of A to Z” — For this they pay a marketing department?). It replaces the XG350, which had been aging badly of late. The new sedan gives Hyundai a proper entry in the “jellybean-shaped, leather-seated, V6-powered sedan” segment, in which 3,870 models currently exist. Still, a new 3.8-liter V6 pushing out 265 horsepower will likely make short work of Buick’s LaCrosse, which it will likely undercut in the marketplace.

What is the best method for installing a XM Radio in a 06 Azera? It looks like there is no auxiliary or cd changer input. Perhaps an inline RF modulator would be the best I could do. I hear the cassette tape adapter thing sounds good, but it has always struck me as kinda tacky. And wouldn't you get the noise of the little motor that turns the cassette tape? Tried all kinds of web searching, but could not find anything remotely like answer anywhere... Thanks

I have an Azera 2006 and the other day in city driving I stepped on the gas to downshift and accelerate, but the tranny revved up to 6000 RPM and the car went no faster. Let the accelerator up and retried and all seemed normal. The feeling was like you get when a manual tranny slips out of gear. Any Ideas you who are technically gifted?
Thanks in advance

I recently bought the new Azera, as I loved the looks.
Unfortunately, I did not check out thoroughly the center console cup holders. They are so shallow the taller cups fall over.
Has anyone else realized this and is there a retro fit or aftermarket product that can be inserted into these very very shallow holders?
I cannot believe that a car of this quality would have overlooked this important detail.
Thanks

I'm taking delivery of a new Azera Limited on Monday and was wondering what programming options should I have the dealer install at that time? I know about the door lock/unlock options but are there others that would be beneficial?
How about activating the 'limp-home' option?
How about the can tool update for the 1-2 shift pause?
Thanks for any ideas

I know it's probably too early for anyone to know, but I just saw this at the auto show and want one. My '02 Elanta just doesn't cut it for the "fun" factor :-)
One thing I am interested in is finally adding a supercharger or turbo to my car. I thought about doing this to my Elantra a few years back, but I didn't want to invest the $$$ when so many other components would be straining to keep up with any additional power it generated.
Any ideas on when a good charger would be available? Thanks.

http://www.menafn.com/qn_news_story.asp?St...vvutY1orvDdqvjtWas published today in the Tribune. Quite positive to the Azera and to Hyundai in general.
" Hyundai hopes to capitalize on the latest J.D. Power and Associates buyer retention study. Hyundai finished fifth among those who would buy the brand again.
Its 56 percent retention rate put it behind Toyota and Lexus, tied at 63 percent; Honda at 60 percent and Chevrolet at 57 percent. But it was ahead of Ford at 54 percent, Mercedes-Benz at 53 percent and BMW at 50 percent.
The study shows consumers don't feel they have to apologize for or rationalize buying a Hyundai."

Howdy-
I went in on a Azera Limited with the Ultimate package for my parents and have a question:
Anyone know if the Random Play function for ALL discs works on the Infinity system? I know the random function works for single disc by pressing the Random button once. However, I believe it should play Random All DIscs by pressing and holding the Random button until the unit beeps (holding about 2 seconds).
I'm pretty sure I got it to work once, but never again after that. The dealer says they don't think it's supposed to and are acting like they've never heard of a multi disc changer having all disc random play. C'mon, why would you want to only have random play on one CD?
Also, I'm positive I found the instructions for the All Disc Random mode in the owners manual but couldn't find it when I talked to the dealer about it. Don't have the owners manual available at the moment so I was just wondering if anyone out there knows more.
Thanks for the feedback!

Hey Ladies and gents!
New forum member here. I must admit, i am OBSESSED with the Azera. Within in th next year i shall be purchsing one. i want to see what changes, if any they will make on the 07'. But i have a couple suggestions for various accessories for the Azera that i would like to see offered...
1.) Chrome wheels -- nothing says classy like chrome wheels reflecting in the bright sun making your ride stand out even more than it already does.
2.) Radio Controls on the Steering Wheel -- Not a necessary option, but something that i would like to see making the drivers life a little more "eyes on the road" conscious.
3.) Navigation system -- Again, not a necessary option, but for those trying times that you are lost and need help, a navigation system is worth its weight in gold.
If there are any more ideas out there, please feel free to post them, i'd like to see what else i could be getting that i or hyundai didnt think of.
Have a great day and enjoy your Azera's!!!

(The post below was originally placed on the Honda lovers' site, The Temple of VTEC, of which I'm a member.)
I've been an admirer of Japanese iron for decades, and of Honda specifically for years. Our last new car was a Honda, an '03 CR-V for my wife, and I had a big hand in recommending it. More recently, as my beloved '02 Nissan has begun to age, I've looked with increasing lust at the Accord and its big brother the TL.
Finally, this week I test drove three cars, based on the locations of the dealerships: those two, sandwiched around the Hyundai Azera (odd comparo, you say? More on that later). What I expected was to really like the Accord except for marginal headroom (I'm a short-legged 6'2"), to like the TL even better, and to find the Azera wallowed like a Buick.
It didn't turn out that way at all.
By way of background (and because I know what's coming from some of the posters), my last few cars have included my current sedan, a '92 Maxima SE twin can, as well as the '03 CR-V and a VW GTI with a manual. I'm not a raving performance fiend; I think of myself more in the middle. If I could, I'd like flat cornering, instant steering response, AND a ride like a Maybach on a cushion of air. Of course, this is not possible. My reaction to my current ride is that it's just a little short of excellent in both respects.
My first reaction to the 2006 Accord EX-V6 is that it radiated quality inside and out, just as I expected it would. I warmed to the exterior in black with the new bigger wheels, and I liked the stylish gauges and leather-lined cabin right away. My second reaction was that the interior was too damned small, at least for me. My kiester (I wear 41-inch pants, for perspective) was riding on the two ridges at the side of the seat bottom, distinctly uncomfortable. My head was nearly hitting the forward edge of the sunroof-equipped ceiling.
As I drive, the seat heater resolved the headroom problem in short order, settling me down a good inch and finally allowing me to become less conscious of the headliner -- and more conscious of the buckboard-like ride. This "near-luxury" sedan was delivering little jolts over every little frost heave in the typical suburban asphalt behind the local dealership. The turn-in was remarkably flat and tight, much more appealingly sporty than advertised in the likes of Car and Driver. I remarked to the sales guy, "Who thought this suspension and steering weren't sporty enough for them?" In fact, I thought it was TOO sporty. Nothing less than excellent -- just not for me.
The first drive made me suspect that the third one, the TL, would be disagreeably more of the same. It was, in spades. The TL was even firmer, just as advertised. What wasn't advertised was that "even firmer" meant a ride like a '60s muscle car. I wasn't just feeling every frost heave now. I was feeling every pebble in the asphalt. When I reached a low-speed turn, I warned the salesman, then flung my arms around the wheel as idiotically as I could in an effort to make it eithe roll or plow as I stuffed it 90 degrees into the corner. Roll, zero. Plow, just a hair. I'm here to report that the TL is truly sporty. But at a price in comfort I'm simply unwilling to pay. That breaks my heart, because it's even more beautiful inside and out than the very nice Accord, at a very reasonable tariff.
Obviously, I've left the Hyundai Azera for last. To my surprise, it was the only car I could fit my body in -- blatantly roomier front and rear, in all directions including up, than either Honda. For what it's worth, it also had a trunk that would satisfy the Sopranos. To my further surprise, it was a tastefully styled car inside and out (especially out, where I thought it was downright beautiful except maybe for the slightly squarish nose). It had first-rate materials save for the obviously plastic wood (of which the Accord was equally guilty), and thoughtful luxury touches everywhere I looked.
And to my extreme surprise, while it wasn't as quick on its feet as the Hondas, it didn't wallow like a Buick Park Avenue either. It took a moment to take a set, yes, but then it did what you asked in lane changes, ramps and corners. Meanwhile, it didn't isolate away all vestiges of road feel, but it did filter out much more of it than the Accord -- desirably, in my view.
Now, some might say this is an apples-to-oranges comparison. Why not the Sonata? Well, this was MY test drive, and I have a purely subjective dislike of the Sonata's dashboard and gauges that kills the car for me. I won't try to justify it, I just know how I feel. That meant the Azera, and the pricey Limited (electroluminescent gauges) at that. Which brings me to the other part: The Azera is priced right on top of the Accord EX-V6 with Navi. You can say, "yeah, but it doesn't have XM and Navi." True, but it'll have XM or Sirius next year, probably with no great price penalty. If navi is an absolute deal killer for you, foreign market Azeras ("Grandeurs" over there) already have it, so that's also just a matter of time and $2,000. And on the other side of the coin, the Accord doesn't have a power rear sunshade, extra room, extra power, memory seats, power steering wheel and some other Azera toys either. At the top, I call the toy race a wash.
I have completely undiminished respect for the excellence of both Honda and its products. But I've gotten older (sigh). Their sedans have actually gotten more severe in their sporting orientation, based on this pair of experiences. And I'm large.
Depreciation isn't much of an issue for me, since I keep my cars until they're worthless no matter who makes them. That said, I happen to believe that it would be a major mistake to assume this car will depreciate like an Excel. It won't happen, friends. This car is startlingly well made. Hyundai is as serious as you've heard. And as you probably can tell, to my own great surprise, they'll probably get my money this go-round when the time comes.

Hallo everyone, I'm new to this forum and would like some advice.
I took the new Azera for a drive and was blown away!!!
I never considered this make for its perception of cheapness. I really liked the car very much, but there are a couple of points that you perhaps might clarify. How much of a drop will it take in resale value after 3 years and what do you think will be its reliability. I've heard that transmission is a weak area for Hyundais, any other areas?
I'm a realtor and was considering other makes more upmarket as unfortunately I have to consider image, but I truly liked this Azera and can compare it with Infiniti/Lexus and BMW, I'm willing to take a gamble on the image, but not not on reliability and safety.
All comments are welcome.

Well my wife and I purchased a new Azera this past weekend. The lease on our 2003 Maxima expired and we had been looking for a replacement. We looked and looked. She didn't really like the Sonata that much but when she saw the Azera sitting on the showroom floor she fell in love. It was all over after the test drive... no leasing... just straight purchase.
This is truly an awesome car... miles ahead of the Maxima for comfort, quietness and features. Gas mileage is not quite as good though... not yet anyway (doubt it will be)... but it is a lot more car.
This is our family car so to speak but my wife will drive it more than I. I liked the Sonata's well enough to buy one for me to drive back and forth to work. It's a very comfortable ride... but not quite the Azera.
We are Hyundai believers now!
