I have a 2006 Hyundai Azera Limited. The car operates fine except about two months ago I noticed the headlights dimmining slightly when the transmission changed or the brakes were applied. The dealer performed a diagnostic and could only conclude the alternator needed to be replaced and did so. This worked until recently when I noticed the problem has returned.. Any similar stories and/ideas or the correct repair?

The 2006 Azera Silver is called "Bright Silver". I do not know the color code.
The 2007 Azera Silver is called "Silver Frost". This one has a color code of Y5.
Does anyone know if there is an actual difference in color?

I owned my Azera for almost a year. During the winter season in the snow my flender got lose because of hard snow. ( I don't know if that's the right name for that part, is the black plastic cover just around the tire) Is there any way I can order anyone online somewhere or do I have to go to the dealer to get it replace. As of now, when I drive the flender is sanded by the tire. Sigh Anyone have any idea?

I was listening to XM on the way home from work last night and the reception was terrible. Getting close to anything that looked like a tree and you would lose signal. I thought there was something wrong with my radio. When I got home, there was an email from XM. Here is a copy of the notice:
QUOTE
Service Degradation Alert
You may be experiencing temporary degraded performance with your XM reception at the present time. XM is aware of the issue and working diligently to resolve it as soon as possible. We anticipate full signal strength will be restored by early Tuesday morning.

Hi, I currently owned a 2006 Azera. I have tinted all the windows, removed the oem grill replaced with H-less grill, remove the spelled out Hyundai letters in the rear and now decided to remove the Hyundai logo in the rear and replace it with the TG logo as like the Korean Grandeur. My question: Is it legal to remove all the factory logos? If I remove the the Hyundai logo in the rear then the car had no brand what so ever.
By the way, did any of the azera owner install the hood emblem? how did you manage to install it precisely in the middle? Measuring tape? or body shop installed?
I lived in NYC and so far I have only seen one Azera and couple of others in Long Island area. What about you guys? With the rate of people buying Azera, do you guys think they might stop producing the Azeras?
Take care everyone sorry for the long post.

I never sit in the back seat and matter of fact today was the first time I been in the back seat of my Azera. I had some sort of a film on my window in the back of the car from the inside so I get some glass cleaner and cleared the stuff off. Looks much better.
When I was at work tonight I happen to look in the parking look at my car and it looked as my dome light was on in the car, so I went out to check it out. Sure enough it was on but not in the front but over the back seat. It was the first time that I even noticed there were lights on the ceiling of the Azera in the back seat area. What a great option!

Has anyone gotten a chance to get the Azera cargo Tray? I been looking around and all i found for the azera was the cargo mat. If you ordered it from somewhere please let me know.
I play a lot of sports and after changing i leave my muddy shoes in the trunk and lately is been getting really dirty. I need the tray so that is easier to clean and reuse. Thanks all

Took my 06 Azera in for 15000 mile service (lube oil, filter, rotate tires, and adjust parking brake). Service advisor said that parking brake adjustment was $80 so I should buy their 15K service package which included the adjustment for $190 - no thanks and skip the brake adjustment. Later the service advisor came out to tell me that they had put the car on an alignment machine and I needed a four wheel alignment ($70) but that I had to have a ball joint replaced ($226) because Hyundai front suspension is only partially adjustable - I think he said that toe-in was not adjustable but I am not sure. Guess what - I declined the alignment and ball joint. What experiences have other owners had with parking brake service and alignments? Maybe it's time to return to my friendly local independent tire shop for alignments.

I still love my Azera and to top it off a buddy who lives down the street wanted to show me a Jeep that he thought I should buy as a second car. I picked him up and we drove out to the country to take a look at this Jeep Wrangler. My buddy told me "man you can't even hear the motor running in this car." It is very quiet, not like my Toyota. Yes I told him that my Azera is a very well made car both inside and out. I can just touch the gas and it moves.
Bottom line was he was impressed with my car from Korea. This guy never gives too many complements but he did like my Azera. Oh yea.... the Jeep had too many miles on it for a 1998 selling for $8000 bucks.

Is there anyway to program our headlights to stay on for a short time after the engine is turned off?
I had the headlight delay option on my 03 Explorer Sport Trac and really liked it. I live in the boonys and it really was a convenience on those very dark nights when there is no full moon.

I work at a Hyundai dealer, GSM to be specific just to give you some background. I do not delve too much into the warranty or repairs of these vehicles, I just sell em. That being said, the Hyundai service rep for our region (south central) just stopped by to say hello and ask if any customers were complaining about anything on our cars. So I mentioned this topic and got a smile. So I delved a bit further. There is a repair from Hyundai which is the good news. They have narrowed it down to being based on the build date (after 12/2005 is what I believe he said). The fix is a new strut and housing assembly I believe is what he said. Hope this helps some of you.

Hi all,
This is my first post ever in this forum.. I visited the dealer today (middle east market).. The Azer comes with a touch screen navigation system with buit in bluetooth, 9-disc (yes, nine, not six!) DVD changer (yes, plays movies!), MP3 player, TV tuner, back-up camera.. The Nav lights perfectly matches the dash green lights and the the steering wheel controls work perfeclty... Also, it's the world first ever Arabic navigation system in the market.. Ever Lexus don't offer Arabic navi yet!
Fully loaded (with the Nav) is about $24K (after the discount).. I think the price is good specially with 5 years, unlimited miles warranty.. I think all USA/Canada options are the same.. But we don't have XM nor heated seats.. Ohh, it's the 3.5L engine (not the 3.8L)... Thats the only available option... It has a factory rear parking sensors and rain sensor (i don't know if these two options are available in the US market)...
BTY, the (MAKKAH) button is to give you the direction to pray (for Muslims)..
I just wanted to share..

Well suddenly a tiny spot of laminate has separated from my steering wheel. Seems that I have read that this is a potential problem with the 06 Azera. I'm bringing my "baby" in for an oil service and to have the ambient temperature sensor replaced under warranty (TSB) so I will call attention to it. My service manager is a very customer concerned individual and runs the service department in just that manner. Hyundai of Westchester in Yonkers, NY they are the best.

When the 2007 Azera came out all four headlamp bulbs were an H-7. Somewhere around the middle of the production year they changed the low beam bulb to a different bulb. Now it is an H-11B.

Just got back from my dealer, Hyundai of Westchester. My son wanted to replace his Honda CRV which is coming off lease. I convinced him to look at a 2007 Santa Fe and he was "blown away" with the car and the fantastic treatment and deal he got. While talking to the General Sales Manager, Peter G., they drove an 06 Azzy SE into the showroom. He said that they have several and want to "unload" them at an almost giveaway price, below $20,000 and with some negotiating someone can get a really good deal. We now have 3 Hyundai's in our family, my 06 Sonata and Azzy and the new addition an 07 Santa Fe. If anyone is interested in joining us Azzy owners, and you are in the NY metropolitan area check in at this fantastic dealership. Tell Peter you saw it here and that Don recommended them. You will get top notch treatment. They are good people.

Hey guys, I really love my azera(2006 azera limited with premium package. dark blue with beige leather interior, ~ 5k miles with 16mpg city, 26.5mpg highway). I look forward to driving around town in my azera every single day. But every once in a while when I pass a toyota prius, I dream of what might have been. I know that the azera and prius are totally different cars, but they were around the same price range, and sometimes I wonder if I would have been happier with a smaller but more fuel efficient car. =/ any thoughts?
Also, does anyone have any tips on how I can squeeze more mpg from my azera?
I already:
1. accelerate slowly
2. inflated my tires to 35psi, 5psi above recommended pressure of 30.
3. regularly change my oil&oil filter(only changed it once at 3k miles)

i constantly hear 'tick, tick, tick' sound from the engine at start. once the engine
gets heat up, the sound disappears. I live in canada so it is still kinda cold in
the morning. i didn't have this problem in the summer. the problem started in december when it gets really cold in canada. so i thought it might be a engine oil problem. i called the dealer to ask what kind of engine oil they use for my azera, ans they said they just use a regular engine oil with viscosity of 10w-20. however when i check the manual, viscosity of 5w-30 is recommended. i know engine oil with viscosity of 5w-30 is thinner than the one with 10-20w and therefore easy for the engine to get heat up and better protection at start in the winter.
so for anyone in the cold region, what viscosity engine oil do you use for you azera?
will using synthetic engine oil help??

... on a CD, includes Workshop Manual and Electronic Troubleshooting Manual. Arrived today, found on eBay for the "buy it now" price of $24.95 + $4.95 shipping. It's got more than I'll ever want to know in hundreds of pages. The disk initially has an index of all the models, but it only allows access to the Azera pages.
I note that there's at least one other available on eBay, under "2006 Hyundai Azera OEM Workshop Service Manual CD"...

I posted this reply on the removing of the emblems thread but thought this would be a good topic of discussion.
The last few months Hyundai has not promoted the Azera though TV advertising. Come to think about it not many car magazines have been advertising the Azera. Yet Hyundai has been advertising the heck out of the Sonata and other models in their lineup.
The lack of advertisement may spell why sales of Azera are flat. Look around do you see many on the road? Heck not too many people have even heard of the car or even seen more than five on the road. If you don't advertise then how can Hyundai sell the car. Maybe Hyundai is going to phase out the model after next year in the USA. MPG can be a long term problem if they can't get more miles per gallon out of a tank.
Yet the car is well put together comparied to other car companies models in the same class. American cars like the Ford 500, The Chrysler 3000, the Cat CTS, or even the Chevy Impala do not hold a candle to the Azera, as far a workmenship, quality, dependability, fit and finish, and style. So way is it that Hyundai has not advertised the Azera nationwide?
Thoughts>>>

I have a 2004 XG that I really love, but its time to look for a newer car. I have been test driving the '07 Azera. Its a fine car and I will probably get one but two things are bothering me.
I learned that the oil filter system on the Azera is a canistor/element type instead of the usual spin on filters we are use to. I am told there are six bolts on top of the engine that must be removed to get at the filter, then remove the top of the canister and remove/replace the element. Since the canister is full of oil this sounds like a messy deal. I have not seen a canister type of filter system since the 1960's. What gives here?
I also checked the price of a windshield replacement for the Limited with its rain sensing technology. Just over $1,000.
I'd like to hear from some Azera owners on how they are dealing with the oil filters.

It rained hard on my new '07 Azera today. I parked for awhile and opened the sliding moonroof door to look through the closed glass. I noticed water dripping from the rear corner of the glass to the track beneath it. I understand that there is a water maintenance system -- lie gutters -- that directs incoming water outside through tubes. My question is: Is the Azera engineered to let rain drip through or around the glass seal or is this a defect that needs repair?

Okay, the January numbers are in. The Azera is still selling very well. In January 2007 Hyundai USA sold 1,685 Azeras down only 122 units from their record breaking January 2006. In January 07 Azera represented 6.1% of their total US vehicle sales.
I have some other numbers and will try to compile them and get them posted.

Hi everyone, I have two simple questions that I need answer to. I heard that after installing an aftermarket HID kit the warranty of the Azera will be void? Is this true. Also, for oil and filter change do I have to go to the Hyundai dealer for it in order to maintain the warranty? Sorry for the stupid question but I heard a lot of rumors going around and is really bugging me. Thanks

Ok, so i was going to do a compression check for my records until it came time to pull the plugs from the firewall side of the engine, looks to me like you need to pull the intake manifold first

IF I am correct in this, I now understand why Hyundai spec'd the spark plug change at over 100,000 miles. I can not find any reference to this issue in the service manual or the HMASERVICE site! This to me is reason to sell!! (if i am correct)

Have you guys seen the new Hyundai Veracruz yet? I see one on the net today and I guess they are now arriving at the dealers. Looks nice alost like the RAV 4. Lots of room and plenty of options with plenty of standard equipment.
I don't understand why the Veracruz doesn't have a four wheel drive option, unless I looked at it wrong. SUV comes with XM which is a plus. Sharp colors, looks good and the price is right.

This is the first Body Kit I've seen for the Azera.
Azera Ixion "Eminence" Body KitNot bad, but for some reason except for the trunk appearance, I prefer to keep my car the way it is. Maybe it is because the High cost……………….lets see:
$1495
+ $390 (S&H - to continental USA)
+ >$250 (paint all parts)
+ >$400 (professional installation)
Too much!
Definitely………….. it looks nice, but does it worth > $2K’s?
What do you think?

Yesterday We had non-stop snowing all day long and last night I have to get to upstate from the city. The azera went really well in the snow. There were many slips that occured but with the ESC feature it wasn't a problem at all. Most of the cars on the highway were going around 30mph while I was on cruise 40mph. I am so happy that I bought the Azera. Very happy! How your Azera in the snow?
