So I read all about the rattle of the rear deck, and am glad to say I prevented that issue before even installing my subs.
Now, however, I can't keep the rearview mirror up so its even usable. Every time I turn the volume up past about 15, it vibrates and moves downward so I end up looking at my backseat.
Anyone else have this problem, and a remedy for it?

Installed an ingnition powered lighter receptacle under the dash and ran the power cord up through the dash and out the hole in the fake wood trim piece.
Closed the larg hole with a rubber grommet. When it's time to get rid of the Azera, I take the power cord back out and replace the grommet with a rubber plug.
I have done basically the same thing with my 07 Santa Fe.
When I park the vehicles in a public place, I simply take the GPS off the mount, throw a hat over it and sometimes, I install the silver sun shield on the windshield for even more privacy.
If one uses the suction cup mount on the windshield, you don't have the option of hiding it with the sun shield nor can you put a hat over it. The mount has to be removed.

This is from a Hyundai website. www.hmaservice.com
there is a lot of info on this site. You'll have to register (free).
OIL AND FILTER
• Prolonged and repeated contact with mineral oil will result in the removal of natural fats from the skin, leading to dryness, irritation and dermatitis. In addition, used engine oil contains potentially harmful contaminants which may cause skin cancer.
• Exercise caution in order to minimize the length and frequency of contact of your skin to used oil. Wear protective clothing and gloves. Wash your skin thoroughly with soap and water, or use water-less hand cleaner, to remove any used engine oil. Do not use gasoline, thinners, or solvents.
• In order to preserve the environment, used oil and used oil filter must be disposed of only at designated disposal sites.
1. Park the car on level ground.
Start the engine and let it warm up.
2. Turn the engine off and open the hood.
Remove the engine cover.
3. Wait for 5 minutes after loosening the oil filter cap by turning it counterclockwise with SST(09263-3C100) to drain well the oil in the oil filter.
4. Drain the engine oil.
A. Remove the oil filler cap.
B. After lifting the car, remove the oil drain plug and drain the oil into a container.
5. Replace oil filter.
A. Disconnect the oil filter cap from oil filter body.
B. Remove the oil filter element.
C. Check and clean the oil filter installation surface.
D. Check the part number of the new oil filter is same as old one.
E. Install new oil filter element(A) and two new O-rings(

.
F. Apply clean engine oil to the new O-rings.
Lightly screw the oil filter cap into place, and tighten it until the O-ring contacts the seat.
G. Finally tighten it again by specified tightening torque.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tightening torque
24.50Nm (2.5kgf.m, 18.08lb-ft)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
6. Refill with engine oil.
A. Install the oil drain plug with a new gasket.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tightening torque
34.3 ~ 44.1Nm (3.5 ~ 4.5kgf.m, 25.3 ~ 32.5lb-ft)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
B. Fill with fresh engine oil, after removing the engine oil level gauge.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Capacity
When replacing a short engine or a block assembly :
6.0L(6.34U.S.qts,5.28lmp.qts)
When replacing an oil pan only :
5.5L(5.81U.S.qts,4.84lmp.qts)
Drain and refill : 5.2L(5.49U.S.qts,4.58lmp.qts)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
C. Install the oil filler cap and oil level gauge.
7. Start the engine and check to be sure no oil is leaking from the drain plug or oil filter.
8. Recheck engine oil level.

Has anyone tried to lift the right WW arm off the windshield?
My hood gets in the way and I have to force the arm up so it doesn't scrape the paint on the edge of the hood.
Left WW arm lifts off fine.
Comments please.

I want to jack mine up and put it on jack stands in the points where the owners manual shows placing the scissors jack for tire changes.

I have heard tell of a "clunk" in the suspension of early Azeras but I don't think this is what I'm experiencing - both of ours are manufactured in mid-late '07 and over bumps and dips, the suspension is whisper quiet.
About 6 or 8s after I start the car and put it in drive, I feel a slight 'clunk' in the front suspension or the accelerator. I can hear it in the cabin and feel it in the gas pedal - a vibration and a sound almost like a valve springing open. It feels almost like a single tick of antilock brakes, only the feedback is in the gas pedal. This doesn't occur when the car is shifted through gears while running; it doesn't occur AT ALL during the operating cycle after the first instance.
It does occur on both of our cars; it occurs 100% of the times the car is started then put in drive, regardless of whether the engine is warm or not. I don't know if it occurs on my dad's; he said he didn't notice anything but he'd pay close attention to it this week.
Does anyone else know what I'm talking about? Anyone else's car have this? It's not a huge problem; I'm more just curious about what device is making the 'clunk'.
TIA,
Andy

Hi,
I drive a 2006 Azera, it's nice but the suspension is a little too plush for my taste. Does anyone have experience with an aftermarket suspension upgrade such as the T&P 2700(a) from KSPEC, the SMA Coilover set from kdmstuff.com or other?
If so:
* Which suspension brand, type and setting (Soft,Sports, and Hard) did you go for?
* Does it allow for better cornering and better high-speed handling? (less side-to-side drift)
* Where did you have it installed? Dealer? I live in San Diego, CA so if you have know of a good place here, much appreciated.
Thanks! J.

After a great deal of internet research, I decided on the Magellan products. Since I really like the idea of a wide screen, the Maestro series was a no brainer.
I installed the Maestro 4040 in my Azera and the Maestro 4250 in my Santa Fe.
I am enclosing a few pics of the Azera installation.
The Magellan Maestro series has a very heavy duty mount which was just one of the reasons why I chose this brand.
Enclosed are a few pictures.

'07 Limited/Ult: Old Problem--i know. I have a vibration in in the rear speaker shelf on practically all CD's and radio playback above volume level-5. Even worse if the EQ is on ROCK mode.
I've read a couple posts involving home remedies that involve removing the rear seats and speaker-shelf.
Has anyone actually had the dealer correct the issue or replace the shelf? I've been to 3 different dealers. The techs all admit to hearing the vibration, but say "that's the way it was engineered" and there is nothing that can be done remedy the vibration.
Luv, the car, but @ 3700mi in 45 days of ownership--I'm ready to go back to service you can trust: Lexus. Unfortunately, I convinced 4 others to purchase Azeras as well. All of whom are experience the same issue.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Monday I was out and about with the Azera. Then I ran into a K Mart to pick something up when I noticed my rear tire was very low. I looked at it and said to myself I must have picked up a nail. So I went inside K-Mart to the tire departement and asked if they had time to patch the tire. No problem. They could bring it right on in. Taken care of....NO WAY. The tire guy said they couldn't fix it because it was too close to the side wall. They wanted to sell me a tire for $195.00 but I said hold on I have a full size spare in the truck with the same wheel that is on the car. Startled the tire guy took out the spare and put it on the Azera.
Then he said we will take care of the tire with the hole in it. I told him that I wanted the tire back as I was going to have someone else look at the tire. It only has 6500 miles on the tire.
Later I took it to Tire Discounters not far from where I live. When I had my 75 Dodge Dart Swinger I purchased tires for it at the same Tire Discounters. The service manager looked at the tire and said that any Michelin tire can be repaired because of the way and the quality the tire is produced. He said even if the tire was punctured on the side of the tire it can be repaired, and with will hold up for years.
I picked up the tire up tonight and it had two nails in it. The tire was reapaired early in the morning and there was no air pressure loss. The best part there wasn't a charge for the reapair since I bought my Dodge Dart tires there two years ago.
Moral of the story if you pick up a nail in your Michelin tires you can get them fixed.

I don't have a light in the ashtray of my 2007 Azera. The dealer has told me that this light was not installed on Canadian models. I find this hard to believe. Would it be possible for you other Canadian Azera owners to check if you have a light in the ashtray and write back to this forum, so I have some evidence to take to the dealer? Thanks in advance.

Well, I guess if you can't tell from the owners' manual, the best thing to do is pull the sucker out and take a look...
It turns out that the new ('08) Azera is equipped with factory OEM Osram H11b low beam bulbs, which seem to be non-existant (as far as potential replacements) on the 'net.
Does anyone know of a possible replacement for this lamp?
(oh, and just for the halibut, I pulled the high beam bulb - it's still an H7)

Hi everyone,
After stopping by the dealer yesterday to changed my oil and asked about why the exhaust comes gray instead of water vapor smoke I suddenly remembered that the cabin filter has been a while. ( well been almost 15 months) I did asked several times from the dealer but they didn't have it. BUt I asked again yesterday and they had it so I purchased one for about 20 dollars. I changed it early this morning and I have to say I was disgusted by what I saw. I can't believe I was in the car the whole time while that filter was being operational. So everyone, change your cabin filter at least once a year.

I was wondering if someone here could help. I have a 2006 Azera Limited, and over the past few months I have noticed that when driving it is dark, my headlights will dim drastically either when I brake under about 30 mph, or when I let up on the gas going around 30-35 mph. I can see the tach drop to below 500 rpm, and the interior lights will also dim. It frustrates me because I took it to the dealership yesterday to have them look at this, and they said they couldn't see anything wrong. They said there were no error codes, the alternator was fine, and the battery looked fine. They said "just keep an eye on it" when I picked it up yesterday.
This morning on my drive to work it happened about 5 times. It bugs me because I feel as if it is going to stall, and when the lights dim like that, I can't see!! It's usually brief - about a second or so - but still. Has anyone seen this happen? Does anyone have any idea what it would be, so when I take it back to them I can tell them what is going on? I love my Azera, but to be honest I don't know much about the inner-workings of cars, so I have no idea where to start if I was to look at it myself. It seems electrical, but they assured me that nothing was wrong.
Help?
Thanks,
Eric
PS: I just found this on another site... does it make sense? Has this happened to anyone else with an Azera?
-----------
you'll track this thread back, you can find a link to the referenced Service Bulletin that explains what the ELD is. In the early 90's Honda started inserting an Electrical Load Detector (ELD) into some of their cars whose function is to sense electrical load and "disconnect" (electrically that is) the alternator in times of low electrical load. This is supposed to give a little boost in gas mileage because of less load on the engine.

How's everyone doing today?
Recently I been smelling fuel after the car starts up. It is only noticeable when I have the windows opened. Just today, I stood behind the azera and remote started it and saw a grayish fuel smoke coming out of the exhaust - looked like those really really old cars when you trying to crank it up. I am wondering if this is normal after 14000 miles? If not, please advise me what to do. Thanks

The site still has the 2007 models but a search on Autotrader turns up almost 600 2008 Azeras in this country. C'mon Hyundai! Failing to acknowledge its existence on your website isn't going to convince people to buy more 2007s. It's going to make them wonder, "Did they just miss the boat on this one? Did they forget to update their website? We're well into calendar year 2008 - to say nothing for MODEL year - and I jut test drove one of these things at my local dealer. What gives?"
Maybe someone else has more insight into their thinking (or lack thereof) on this matter, but from these two data points (575 2008s on Autotrader, no info whatsoever on 2008 on the Hyundai website) I really find this to be pretty confusing... I'm wondering here, are they trying to sabotage their own game? Tank the new model year?
The first question I would ask, as an uninitiated Hyundai consumer, would be, "In a car this nice, can I get it with navigation?"
As long as they fail to update their website, the answer will be, "No, apparently not."

I have a new 07 Azera GLS with 250 miles. I am trying to follow the manual's instructions on diving for the first 1200 miles (despite their statement that there is no "formal" break-in procedure). It is almost impossible for me to bring the RPM higher than 2000 (except on steep hills, not many in my area). Any thoughts about this and other best practices??

Ok fist off this is only the second time hearing the sound it happen both times when very cold outside. (1F, and 6F). The grinding noise come from the front sortof like the ESC come on but it's only with the wheels turn, both directions after the car warms up the noise goes away.
The noise sound like someone sorting with a steering wheel vibration at the same time. Has anyone had simular noise or problem?

I almost changed the spark plugs today until I noticed that's it nearly impossible to change the back three. The intake manifold is covering the rear plugs.
Does anyone know what's involved in removing the intake manifold to get access to the rear plugs? Surely, the engineers would have taken this into consideration.

Upstate Hyundai in Anderson SC had two 2008 Azeras on the lot today - one 2007
SE. Looked just like my 2007 and window sticker read about the same. Price appeared to be about 750 more MSRP with
xm and no navigation. Ride was minimally improved, if at all, over my 2007 Limited with the new 040 struts.

Anyone have an issue with a squeaking noise coming from the dashboard? It sounds like it's coming from where the windshield meets the dash. The sqeak only happens when I come to a stop and as soon as I begin to accelerate. I don't hear it while driving. If you have ever heard an old car that has a body which is beginning to "flex", you'll know what it sound is like. Kind of like a "creaking around the joints". It certainly does not impart a comforting impression of solidity or safety by the occupants.
So I took my '07 Azera to the dealer on November 19th for an oil change, to fix a sticky cupholder cover, and the noise in the dash. Haven't gotten it back since.
At first the dealer thought it was the dash itself so they took that apart, put in some felt but found the sqeak was still there after putting the dash back together again.
They called to tell me that upon closer inspection, they found that the sqeak was coming from a bad weld at the base of the "A" pillar and that they were going to send it to their body shop for repair. It's been two weeks now and I haven't heard back from them. Nor have my messages been returned by the service advisor.
I'm beginning to get concerned. Luckily, I have another car to drive but I really miss my Azzy and am wondering if it is a suspension/subframe issue and if it is serious. I been able to live with the irritating plastic compression noise when I place my arm on the center console but this sqeak is driving me nuts. I love the car and want nothing more than for it to be fixed.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

One of the other Azera Forums is being micro-managed by a "host" to the extent that further Azera posts, as it relates to other "mainstream" sedans, has been suspended for 48 hours.
I trust that won't happen here.

Well, I hit a little over 3000 miles and decided to change my own oil. Something I haven't done since the 70s. I have a fear of quick oil change joints (they crushed the rubber washer on my drain plug on my Mitsubishi TWICE and oil leaked all over my garage TWICE! arrrggghhhh!!! ) and I don't like/trust any of the 3 nearby Hyundai dealers.
I bought a
Mityvac 07201 Fluid Evacuator Plus so that I wouldn't have to jack up the the car and get under the car and fiddle with the drain plug (yes, I'm lazy). The Mityvac worked like a charm and extracted a little over 5 qt of oil. It is said that this is more than a traditional drain from the plug will yield. It took about 10-15 minutes.
Tip when using a fluid extractor to change oil: unscrew the oil cap to avoid creating a vacuum and it will pump the oil out faster.
The oil filter was also a breeze to change. It was easy to unscrew it by hand but I did use a filter wrench to tighten up the new filter a little tighter than "hand tight". This was the easiest and least messy change I've ever done.
Tip: Don't tilt the oil filter after you remove it. Immediately put in some sort of container so that the oil doesn't spill out of it.
I replaced the oil with Castrol Syn Tech 10w30 synthetic oil. I bought the 5 qt. jug. It took the whole 5 qt and the dip stick showed just a hair below full. The owners manual says that it holds 5.49 qt. I figure the 5+ qt that came out was about as good as can be expected considering there is still some oil in the filter and in the nooks and crannies in the engine.
A cool feature of the Mityvac is that it also dispenses/pumps the old oil back out for you.

I pumped the oil out of the Mityvac into the container that the Castrol came in and took it to walfart for recycle.
I'm right proud of myself.
