My Azera door speaker covers are covered in cloth and my car happens to have a beige interior. As hard as I try, I get the odd foot scuff mark on the cloth. I don't understand why they put cloth on these speakers (yes it does look nice but not too practice). Does anyone have have comments if I have any options to replace these cloth covers or how I can get the black scuff marks off of the speaker cover cloth without any damage?

This is off topic for this forum but I believe it is non the less important to all automobile owners.
Where does your gas come from They want to find out just how much we are willing to pay.

My wife and I live in the country with gravel roads. Also our farm to market roads are rough and have lots of uneven surfaces due to the expansion/contraction factor of the clay soil in our area. As a result the key fob on our Azera whacks the dash board and the steering column as we drive along. I found some felt pads at Home Depot which are 4 X 6 inches and about 3/16 inches thick with an adhesive backing. The ones I picked were tan in color and so not too far from the beige color of the interior of our car. I cut pieces to fit around the dashboard where the key fits. I also put one piece on the right side of the steering column cover. This helped a great deal - almost completely eliminated the noise. However, the adhesive does not seem to want to stay attached to the dashboard area. So now I am looking at using some double sticky foam tape to attach the pieces.
Has anyone else faced this problem and how did you solve it?
Joe

With the exception of a couple of posts last month, business and domestic demands have kept me away from this board for a while. To recap what brought me here back in late 2006, I had purchased a 2007 Ultimate Limited for my wife’s birthday in October after searching the sparse local 07 inventory for a pearl white with gray interior. I secured the purchase by phone from a dealer about sixty miles away, while the unit was being unloaded from the transport.
Thought I’d show ya’ll how it rests today. Got a bit of a scratch that even clay bar won’t take out. My wife was trailing me. I had looked in my rear view mirror to see it spinning on its axis from the impact, which deployed the three side bags on the passenger side.
It’s a total loss. The impact damaged the frame, floor pan and roof. It effected panel alignment in the rear and driver’s side. The drive line and electrical were effected. As for the title Do Over, we replaced it with a 08. White w/gray units were 200+ miles away so made a white/tan Internet purchase through a local dealership.

My 07 Santa Fe has a dashboard that isn't angled as much as the Azera so there is no sun glare on it. Also, the blue lighting is bright enough to see the instrumentation even in extreme sun light.
Not so with the Azera. The pale green lighting doesn't seem to provide enough light to see the instrumentation in the middle of the dash very well, during very bright days. It's even worse if there is a litttle dust on the clear plastic.
I wish there was a way to improve the daytime lighting of the dash. I enjoy projects to improve our vehicles but not too sure how to solve this problem. Any ideas, anyone?
This is a design flaw of the Azera. Perhaps it doesn't get very sunny in Korea.

It is time to clean the leather seats on our new Azera at the 2700 mile mark. I am leaning toward using Lexol products as I have heard them recommended for leather in other cars.
What are your experiences?

Hi, We just bought an 06 Azera Limited, mint condition with 49,000 miles ($15,500.) This is our first ever "car" purchase having only owned Ford p/u, GMC Suburbans and a Yukon. I think we're going to love having a car but a stressful decision nonetheless. I drove the car 59 miles today and checked the Average Fuel Consumption gauge which read 15mpg. Well, we've never had a gauge like this before and the book wasn't much help in clarifying how to accurately get a reading so was hoping someone could help us out? We just bought the car today but my prior research indicated I should be getting closer to 20mpg with an average of 5 vehicles getting 23.5mpg. Thanks for any information.

Last week while waiting in the Azzie,my Best beloved came out of the store with purchases and I pushed the unlock button for the doors. The drivers side rear door failed to unlock. Went to the dealer on the following Monday and they determined it was a faulty actuator switch. It had to be ordered and arrived the following Monday. Had it installed today. They said it would take 45 minutes to 1 hour. An hour and a half later it was ready. The Holmes Hyundai Service Manager said he was sorry it took so long, but the other "service boys" kept coming to look at and discuss my Azera with its add-ons/ accessories until he told them that "We have to get this service done and returned to the customer". What a hoot this Azera has been! I've never had such an exclusive automobile. And I've had a bunch of new cars. No charge, by the way. Mkaresh must be panting....waiting for the April report on Azera problems.

I am new to this forum as I just stumbled upon it yesterday.
I am looking for information on any company that provides a direct harness for an I-Pod port. I know that several companies have this for other cars, but I have yet to find one for Hyundai, specifically the Azera. I have found in line FM Modulators, but would rather have a direct connection if possible. I don't have a cassette deck, so I can't use the tape deck type connection.
If anyone know of a company that provides this item, or has worked around this, please let me know.
Thanks, Tom

So I have my Azera sitting in the parking lot today at work and I put the rear shade up and buzzzzzz it goes up no problem. ( 80 degrees today ) I get off work and start backing out of my parking spot and ......nothing. So I'm cruising down the road and it hits me ...Heeeeey that was supposed to go down when I put the car in reverse. Soooooo....I push the button......Crunch...grind...Snap !! And it gnarls all up and starts the grind grind click thing. I had to go back and push it down by hand............. It's dealer time. Think I have a wheel bearing going also.....Got a pretty wicked roar coming from rear of car. And a nasty rattle buzz thing from right rear door. I think she's mad at me for driving the truck or something
17,000 miles
Oh and after sitting for over a week and a half the battery was dead..................................................... Ok Ok......The trunk was open....jeeze !!

Hi,
I have a 2006 Azera Limited with the ultimate package and has around 21k miles. Around 17k miles, I started to noticed that there was a slight shifting (maybe 1/8") of the driver seat when the car came to a stop. The movement is forward on stops and occasionally backward on moderate acceleration forward. I am a fairly gentle driver as I don't slam on brakes or accelerate quickly from a stopped position. Initially, it would occur occassionally, but now it is happening very frequently. It is very annoying since this movement of the seat can be felt, however small it is.
Has anyone experienced this issue? When I took the Azera for service to the dealer, of course they did not detect anything wrong with the seat, but that was around 18k miles.
Thanks

,
David

Yesterday my son and I were cruising along when we suddenly heard a terrible rubbing noise:o. It sounded like the tire was rubbing the wheel well. It turned out to be a rather large plastic shield looking thingy which had come loose and was scraping the road. I pulled into a parking lot where my son was able to reach under the car and "press" it back into place after which we drove several more miles without incident. I didn't have a chance to investigate it further yesterday but I will take a closer look at it later today. Anyone else have this problem.

It still feels odd to complain about minor things but again, the car is new, so I expect things to be pretty well sorted... and here it comes:
When I turn off the environmental controls entirely (system "off"), the system continues to blow air into the cabin, through the vents, as if it was on, but set very low. If it's all the way cold when you turn it off, it continues to blow cold air; if it's hot when you turn it off, then it continues to blow hot.
It DOES happen on both of our Azeras, but I just noticed that both of our Azeras were manufactured on the same DAY, so... if one has a defect, it's pretty well likely that both will.
In fact, my wife is the one who showed me that it continues to 'leak' air at whatever temperature you had it at when you turned the system off... so it's not even my own anal-retentiveness this time...
Anyone else get this?

The dealer replaced the 041 struts with 040's a while back, but not as much improvement as I had hoped for. Took the covers off today and noticed the below.
The center post has a nut with a green mark on one side.
The round top panel has two green lines.
One of the three posts on the sides has a green dot in the center.
Do these marks mean anything?
Should they all line up? They don't
If the dealer put in new struts, should the marks all be the same lime green color?
BTW, I got a reply from Consumer Reports re: downgrading of 2007. There were very few problems reported on the 06, but a lot on the 07, so they downgraded the 07, but continue to highly recommend the 08. Go Figure! Sounds like a sampling problem to me and they do want to admit it.
Thanks for any input on the strut question. I really think the ride can be improved and Hyundai (and we) will be better off.

This is a rather broad topic but consider it a general discussion. The Azera may be too young to provide any meaningful responses, but I wonder, has anyone, especially folks who use more miles / drive harder, gotten any indication of design flaws in the car? I'm not just talking about something that was an unusual and rare failure on YOUR car, especially of a wear part; I'm talking about pattern failures, something that's not quite right from the get-go, and has a good chance of effecting many or all Azeras, something that gets mentioned repeatedly on the forum here, or elsewhere.
An example of what I'm talking about is in my other automotive microcosm, Jaguar. I adore my X300s, '95 to '97 XJs, with a 5th (or is it 6th?) generation inline-6 that had morphed into quite a durable motor. Mated to a ZF 4HP24 4-speed slushbox that has been in production, in one form or another, for over 20 years, and a rock-solid Borg-Warner differential, it has the basic materials for a champion of endurance.
The only design flaws on the cars are relatively minor things. Most of these motors made timing chain noise, a rattle, at low-torque / medium-rev conditions, like the first seconds of startup or a feathered throttle through ~1500RPM. This causes a "chain in a can" sound, hollow rattle... timing chain noise. This is partially caused by a pattern failure of the upper timing chain tensioner, which is external to the head, and EXTREMELY easy to replace.
Also, the digital clock inevitably fails. It's odd but true; a pattern failure on the X300s.
Later XJs ('98-'00 in particular) had some much more serious pattern failures such as failing tensioners (internal, and a worse thing to deal with in a V8 than an I6), water pump impeller that would shed blades, nikasil cylinder lining that flakes off and causes leakdown after even 30k, 50k miles on the block. We may all thank Ford for their engineering creativity that developed all these shortcomings.
So it's odd that older ones can be very, VERY much easier to maintain, fix, and rely upon, than newer ones. But the knowledge certainly is meaningful in this case. The vintage matters.
Anybody have any juicy input on pattern failures on our lovely cars? How's the Aisinn transmission on into higher mileage? How are the timing components? Anybody have enough mileage on their Azera to constitute meaningful wear - say 40K, 50K+?
I know the early Azeras had wallowing shocks... but shocks are a wear part. More interested in powerplant & transmission.
Cheers
-Andy

"The website was updated on March 28, 2008 to add the 2009 Azera (TG) Shop Manual and ETM (Electrical Troubleshooting Manual)."
Well there ya' have it folks, Azzy lives for another year, even into post-Genesis era!

I have a 2006 Azera. I'm happy with everything but the battery. I have had to have it charged at least 5 times in the past year, usually if I haven't driven it for a couple of days.
The dealership says my problem is common. They suggest I disconnect the battery or pull the fuse when I don't drive the car for a couple of days. It's tought to do when I often leave the car in an airport garage.
Has anyone had similar problems? If so, do they have a better solution than the one offered by the dealership.

I was in Venice Florida for a few weeks in early March and noticed several Azera's on the road. I played golf on Venice island at Lake Venice Golf Club and saw three Azera's in the parking lot. Green the one I wanted to buy but my girlfriend didn't like the color, white my second choice but the dealer didn't have one and dark blue which is pretty cool.
Up north I never see many Azera's as this car is still very unique and many people still comment about the car as there are not many on the road. I love when I drive my Azera down the road and I recieve double looks from people who notice a good looking car and one that isn't seen in every driveway, parking lot, and gas station. Now if Hyundai can find a fix for the dimming headlights.....please.

Several weeks ago I noticed the headlights on my 06 Azera getting dimmer and then brighter. This also corresponded to the ventilation fan getting softer (slowing down) and speeding up. I hooked up a volt meter and saw the voltage dropping and rising several times a minute while driving.
Took the car to the dealer. They played with it for a week, said it was a bad alternator, replaced it and returned the car. No improvement at all. Took it in again, they played with it for 4 days, first said it may be the CPU and then said the factory said there is a higher output alternator available to solve the problem so they installed that and returned the car. No luck, still having the same issue but the rear defroster and seat heater work faster now with the higher output alternator.
Anyone having this issue? Any suggestions on a fix?

I was under the car repairing a damaged front splash shield on my 07 Azera when I discovered that it is an easy job to replace the fog light bulbs.
There are only 4 (10mm) bolts holding the front splash shield up. Just remove those, drop the splash shield and you have access to the two fog light bulbs.
I was originally under the opinion that the bumper had to be removed but......not so.
I will post another topic as to why I had to repair the splash shield.
