We recently purchased a Nissan Rogue. On one of the Rogue forums there was a post indicating that H+R had firmer replacement springs for the vehicle. I went online at 'hrsprings.com' and discovered they make tuner springs for the Azera. $349 for a set of four. Unfortunately for me, there is no distributor here in Iowa. Talked to them on the phone (888 8278881) and they said the springs were engineered to work with the existing suspension components. They have distributors in many states. Maybe one in yours. Would like feedback if someone decides to go for it.

This is my last post on any Hyundai site. Their letter, quoted in earlier posts, was insulting in tone if not content.
For those who have not experienced problems with your Azeras or Genesis', congratulations. However, it appears many will not admit to problems or just don't understand how a luxury or near-luxury car is supposed to perform - in all categories.
Some people will never admit they made a bad decision, but I am willing to admit it.
BTW, the reviews on edmunch are generally completed within a couple of months of purchasing the car; too early for problems to have surfaced.
Good luck with your cars, but I have given up on Hyundai.

Well...the first MAJOR issue the azzy has had. My 9 month old car just got a crack in the dashboard. I took it in and my dealer is going to fix it under warranty but this means ripping out the whole dash assembly and replacing. Who knows how many clunks and rattles it will have now. Turns out it split where the airbag seam is.
This car has had its minor issues but this one takes the cake. I am seriously starting to second guess my decision to buy. I love the car, its beautiful, but it seems like a bunch of retarded monkeys put it together. I was stoked for the new Genesis to come out thinking i'll trade up when it does but maybe I'll just go reliable and go Lex. or Infinity.

Because existing sources of auto reliability information left much to be desired, in late 2005 I started conducting my own reliability research at
TrueDelta.com. TrueDelta reports absolute stats like "trips to the shop" that make the differences between cars much clearer. Results are updated four times a year, so it's possible to provide reliability information on new models quickly. Also, any significant changes in a model's reliability become apparent quickly.
An Azera owner recently emailed me, wondering when the Azera would be included in this survey. That depends on how soon I have 25 owners signed up for a model year. Currently the 2006 is at 17 and the 2007 is at 12. If enough members from this forum join up, the Azera could be included starting next month.
Participants simply report repairs the month after they occur on a one-page survey. When there are no repairs, they simply report an approximate odometer reading four times a year, at the end of each quarter.
To encourage participation, panel members will receive full access to the results for free.
For the details, and to sign up to help out:

My battery died today. It wasn't unexpected. Cranking had been, shall we say, less than robust the last few day. It lasted 14 months. Hyundai replaced it under warranty. I called the dealer and spoke with a service rep early this morning. I asked if he could take care of it today and he said, "bring it on in and we'll take of it right away, I have guys standing around". So I rolled in there at 9:00 a.m. and left it.
I hadn't heard from them by 4:00 p.m. so I called but the phone lady left me on hold for about an EON. So, I hung up and called back. This time she said that "all the service rep are busy right now but your car should be ready soon. I got it back at 5:30 this afternoon. They had it 8 hours just to change a battery.
The really good news is that the new battery seems to have solved the "dimming lights" problem that it had since day one. I had a different dealer check it out about a year ago and of course, at that time, they "couldn't duplicate the problem"

so it was never fixed until today.

I am hoping that as many Azera owners as possible will do as I did today and write
and call
KYB and ask them how quickly they will be producing replacement
struts and shocks for our 2006 through 2009 Azeras.
It wouldn't hurt for dissatisfied Sonata owners to get onboard either.
Email:
http://www.kybshocksonline.com/default.asp...CFQGHHgod5XKzZQ Phone: 800-592-2677
If as many Azera owners as possible who are dissatisfied with the lousy Mando
produced stock factory shocks Hyundai installed call and email
KYB they will produce replacements much sooner rather than later.
The technician that I spoke with said they knew about our problems
and he also stated that the Azeras had been discussed.
It would seem to me that the more people who call and ask,
the sooner they will produce what we need so badly.
With less than 3,500 miles on our third set of factory shocks, the latest 640 parts
are quickly doing the same thing as the originals and the TSB replacemets.
The Hyundai poor quality factory shocks are the only thing I can find wrong with this fine automobile.
Please send
KYB an email and be sure to call them also. Perhaps the squeaking
wheel with get some attention, hopefully. It won't hurt to try will it?

I have a 2007 Azera Limited and live in Toronto. The current tires are Michelins all season 235/55R17. I am looking to change to winter tires and would appreciate any suggestions. Can I install 16" tires on 16" steel rims, if so, what size or do I need to stick with 17" rims?

Yesterday (Sunday 9/21) I took a trip from Ft. Worth to Austin, TX. It was 204 miles one way.
Here are the details:
Azera limited/Ultimate 3.8L with no luggage or anything to weigh it down except for my big a&& in the driver's seat.
Departed 5:30 a.m.
Reset all info just after gassing up and two blks from interstate.
Interstate all the way except for all about 3 miles of the trip.
Road was virtually traffic free with little or no wind and a very flat road all the way. No construction slow downs.
I was able to use cruise control for all but about three miles of the trip because there was no traffic to contend with. I kid you not when I say my foot didn't touch the accelerator from the time I got on the freeway in Ft. Worth until my exit in Austin (about 200 miles).
I set cruise control according to the speed limit which was mostly 70 mph except for a few stretches where it was 65 mph and one stretch at 55 mph. I used the buttons on the cruise control to slow down and accelerate when necessary.
I traveled 204.3 miles from start to finish.
I filled up again when I got off the exit and checked the mileage. It was 27.7 mpg give or take a few tenths. This was very close to the car's computer read out on the instrument cluster (27.6 mpg).
My question is, how the he!! are people getting 30-33 mpg in highway driving unless they are traveling 45-55 mph to do it.
BTW, I've been averaging 17.6 mpg in light city driving. This is up from 16.+ since I started using full synthetic oil.

Hi All, I just bought my second '07 Azera Ultimate two days ago. This is going to be my car. My wife's is in the shop; some vandals came by last Sunday in the wee hours of the morning, pulled our mailbox post off, and used it to damage the side of the 2-month-old black Azera - my wife's car - then to completely shatter the windshield. Glass EVERYWHERE. They also smashed a window in the vacant / for sale house across the street. Soo-Dae is going to be out of commission for at least 3 weeks (2 weeks from now), quite possibly longer. $2000 worth of damage, not including any 'secondary' damage, like replacing the stereo if glass got inside the CD player. An early xmas present.
Anyhow, no more SOB story about (two month) old Soo-Dae, meet Thor:

More photos:
http://www.andywhalen.com/images/cars/thor/The Infinity Surround stereo is of course phenomenal, ESPECIALLY compared to the absolutely crummy stereos in my '90s Jaguars and recent-past BMWs. Happy days!
BUT... no auxiliary inputs. Nrts! I am an MP3 person these days, I've been using a cheap cassette tape adapter for my MP3 player in the Jag but obviously that's no longer available to me. My phone/mp3 player does not have FM transmitter. So I need to be able to plug it in somehow - bluetooth or otherwise.
I found this thread for stereo removal:
http://www.hyundai-forums.com/index.php?showtopic=19315
Easy! OK, out comes the stereo, very nice. I have two questions regarding what's back there, before I start tearing it apart:
First, is there any kind of RCA or other auxiliary input on the stereo that I could just use to run a line to? I can get whatever kind of adapter - but just wondering if there's any open ports on the factory head unit.
Second, and very importantly: Is that thing a standard double-DIN unit? Could I get, say, hmm... a double-DIN navigation

headunit and just swap 'em out (with the appropriate wiring harness adapters of course)?
Many thanks in advance to all the other fellow Azera owners on this forum who have had the fortitude and insanity to dive in and start mucking with the electronics on a $30k car that's still under warranty!
Cheers!

Hi guys,
Well, several weeks in and it was time to add something useful. I bought a plastic hood deflector for the Aera. I couldn't find a company that just does the plastic film coating for cheap. So I got the deflector at the dealer. If you buy one and they want to charge you for putting it on, don't bother. It took me about 10 minutes, and it was real easy to do. I think it actually looks pretty good. I wish the original owner had thought to get one because I already have small paint chips on the hood which will eventually rust. This should limit future damage so its the best I can do. As far as the deflector, there is no noise and you can't see it from the driver's seat.
Next I'm getting mud flaps as some of you suggested in the other thread, hopefully soon before the snow hits. Man this is one nice ride for the price. I'm getting lots of "What kind of car is that" and I'm catching people eyeing it in the parking lot. Funny, nice to know we're in a small group that got a good deal on a nice car.
Cheers,
Rabbits

Apologies from someone very unfamiliar with the "Add-A-Circuit" (mini size in my case - see
http://www.littelfuse.com/data/en/Data_Sheets/FHM02FHA02.pdf - to be installed into a new Hyundai sedan) and how to install and use it.
1. Does the single red wire contain only the positive wire, or is somehow the ground wire also part of that red wire?
2. What kind of female connector is on the end of that red wire? And what kind of male connector is required to connect into it? What tools/supplies/directions would be needed for installing the right connectors needed?
I have a GPS unit and radar detector to hard wire and neither have the type of connector that would fit into the end of the red wire on the Add-A-Circuit.
Thanks in advance for any advice and assistance or even to be pointed in right direction for this information.

Many, with the exception of
Gamle-ged and
Miami LX and perhaps a couple
of other regulars, don't seem to be posting here as per usual.
While it may be nice to not have too many posters around
it certainly does not make for entertaining reading.

Come on people, if I was able to finger it out, you can also.
It is not as hard as you might think.

I have a 2007 Azera Limited with about 13,500 miles on it.
The past few weeks I have noticed that my front driver's side tire seems to be leaking air at the rate of about 1-2psi per day.
It has happened thrice now in the past month. I keep my tires inflated to 35psi. However, this front driver's side tire loses about 7-8 psi every week & sets off the TPMS. All the other tires lose maybe about 1-2 a month. (I check them monthly)
Now, there are 3 possible reasons. A nail or some minor tear on the tire. The other reason might be a faulty Metal Valve Stem or the tire rim.
If it turns out to be a problem with the valve stem or the rim, would it be covered by the warranty? Would the warranty be Hyundai's or Michelins?

About 500 miles out of 800 complete. And about 700 miles on the Azera odometer.
Regarding break-in, I used cruise control but regularly was using the steering wheel controls to vary my speed from about 60 mph to 75 mph.
One other specific thing I have done so far:
When starting from a stop (with the car fully warmed up and on level roads or slight downhill inclines), I used the manual mode on the transmission to start in first gear and slowly bring engine speed up to nearly 4,000 rpm for a few seconds, then slowly dropped it back near 2,000 rpm before shifting to 2nd gear and repeating the process for second, third, and fourth gear. When in fourth gear, I stayed there for 5 to 10 minutes, varying my speed 60 mph to 75 mph as before. Then I returned to automatic mode.
This process was completed three or four times thus far.
First oil change later today. It might happen at 750 miles or 1,000 miles, or somewhere in between!
Amazingly, gas mileage (calculated) was about 27 mpg even with all the break-in activities. Unfortunately, I had to use ethanol contaminated gasoline for fill up in southern Pennyslvania.
More information later......

Hi there. Since my car was built in Nov 07 I don't have the suspension problems, however I'm not very satisfied with the Michelin tires. The road bumps are harsh and pronounced. Seems the car rides like silk at <40 MPH on smooth surface, but once you get to highway speeds, its fairly bad, depending on surface. Cornering is also a challenge. I noticed the Genesis does not ship with Michelin tires at my local dealership. I'm looking to smooth out the harshness of the road while improving the somewhat sloppy ride and cornering.
Love the car though, quite the bargain, good gas mileage and has power to spare. I have the limited and added mirrored rims, trunk mat from Hyundai (fits really well and is solid rubber), and the Hyundai custom front end protector. That rubber thing, forgot the name of it.
Cheers.

Hey everyone,
I just installed HID lights in my 07 Azera. I installed 6000K H8's in the fogs and was able to install 6000K H11's in the headlights with minor modifications. I absolutely love these lights. I got each set from sharphid.com for $100 a set, but later discovered I could have got the same exact item at ddmtuning.com for $60 a set. They even have a lifetime warranty. Yeah!! I was looking around different forums and the Sonata guys have our same situation with H11b's. One of the guys successfully installed the H11's in his car and gave a complete rundown on what it took to complete. Here is the link:
http://www.hyundai-forums.com/t30328-hid-3...or-the-2009.htm It only took a couple of hours to install the fogs and headlights. If anyone has any questions, feel free to reply.

Okay...here's the deal. I own a 2006 Azera Limited w/Premium Package. I've had it just over 2.5 years and it's got almost 61K miles on it to date. A couple months ago I had an issue where the fog light on the passenger side took on some water. The first time it happened was in a car wash (underbody sprayer). Of course the water caused the bulb to shatter. The 2nd time it happened was during a severe, freak rain storm...same results, water in the fog light housing and the bulb shattered. Took it to the dealer and they determined the seal around the housing failed, so they replaced it under warranty.
Moving forward a couple months, went to the car wash a week ago and the problem happened with the fog light on the driver's side. Will be taking it in to get it replaced as well.
Just an FYI to keep an eye on for those that use car washes or end up driving through some heavy rain. If you notice any moisture inside the lens of the fog light...get it replaced.

I just got done taking my 2007 Azera in for a warranty check, and noticed when I turn on the rear defroster, the radio stops working (static). The dealership told me when the windows were tinted, the technician "cut into the grid". When I checked with the installer, he told me there was no way becasue they do not use any sharp objects when installing the tinting. Has anyone had a similar problem with their Azera when turning on the rear window defoger?

My brand new Azera has a suspension noise on the passenger side. It is noticeable
at speeds under 30 mph when going over smaller road bumps. It sounds and feels like a bad strut or shock (hard to tell if it is coming from the front or back).
Anyone else have this?

Am considering driving from northern Indiana to southern Chicago for this potential Azera:
Invoice MSRP
'09 Azera Limited 26,856 28,920
Destination Charge 725 725
Total 27,581 29,645
Ultimate Package 1,365 1,500
GRAND TOTAL 28,946 31,145
Dealer offer is $26,053, $2,893 below invoice price of $28,946. Considering they are giving more than nearly all other dealers I visited for my 2007 Mitsubishi Outlander XLS AWD V6 trade-in, is this the "no brainer" that it appears?
Yes, that already accounts for the $1,000 rebate (no other rebates apply in my case), so I guess you could say it is only $1,893 below invoice price with the rebate in addition to that.
In addition, aftermarket backup sensors were added to the car before the dealership received it and they are not charging me for that. (How much is typically charged to have something like that added?)

Greetings to all Azera owners,
Recently purchased a used 2007 Azera and had an auto-start installed by local retailer of Viper auot-start. After installation the airbag light came on and can't seem to be reset by company who installed auto-start. Company has all the tools to reset. No previous problems with airbag light. Only surfaced after auto-start installed. Any thoughts. Thanks

Got my 07 Azera back from the dealership on 08-19-08 with new 54611-3L640 Struts installed.
I had the bouncing, wallowing problem just as most of you do.
Did the new struts solve the problem? Yes. All I can say is that suspension recovery after a large dip or similar road occurrence is immediate. No more bouncing or wallowing.
Does my Azera still bottom out easily? Yes. Unfortunately the new struts will not solve the overly soft sprung situation.
Never the less, the 54611-3L640 Struts definitely solve the rebounding problem with the Azera.
I have been keeping snagelpus apprised of my situation and its progress leading up to the installation of my new shocks.
Much of his information is based on real life situations from others, as well as me, all of whom have personal experience with the 54611-3L640 Struts.
Although I have solved 70% of my Azeras front suspension problems, I do not feel as though I want to keep this automobile any longer.
The springing is still way too soft and cannot be fixed without having to modify the front springs by cutting out a coil. That, of course, would void the Hyundai warranty.
Early this week, I will be getting rid of my Azera and replacing it with a NON-Hyundai product.
I still own a 2007 Santa Fe Limited and truly appreciate this vehicle. It stays. The Azera goes.

Well guys, I'm glad I have this forum to bounce some thoughts off other owners. It's been a week of ownership and generally I'm happy. I too identify with all of you about the shocks though, that has to be the worst part of the car design. Mine clunk and are loud on bumpy roads, on the highway it all smoothes out.
Anyway, I went by the dealer today to inquire as to why they don't put mud flaps on their top of the line car? They said it was a dumb decision by Hyundai HQ to save money. A dumb place to save money if you ask me.
Now I know some of you don't live in climates that would need them, but here in our Canadian winters I think they're important. They want $66 for 2 pairs, front and back. I thought there was some design reason why they don't put them on anymore. Any of you know anything about it? One guy who owns a Honda Civic asked about them for his car and the dealer told him he doesn't need them for the back because the car is all plastic back there. If he puts it on then the snow will cling to the mud guard and weigh the body down. This will increase the chance of the plastic panel breaking, or so he said.
What do you guys think, yea or nay? Did any of you put them on your Azera? Did you have to take the wheels off? Anyone know if the Sonata guards are the same size?

Hello! I have been lurking here and reading posts for the last 2 months, as I am considering either an Azera or Sonata. I have driven both cars and like the ride of the Azera over the Sonata, but of the 4 2007 Azeras I have driven 2 have had cracked dashes around the air bag and they had 10K and 6K on them. 2 had the clunk in the front end with mileage of 10K and 14K.
So I ask, Would you buy an Azera again if you had to buy a car now? If not, why?
Thanks

Hi everyone,
I'm interested in hearing from anyone else that imported an Azera from the US. For those of you that don't know, we have a requirement in Canada to have daytime running lights that run automatically. The Azera has an auto feature but it only works when its dark enough outside from what I could tell.
Anyway, I took the car to Canadian Tire to get the Form 2 import RIV form. They ahd to add an electronic part to the car to get DRL on. The thing is, they hooked the thing up to the parking lights. Anyone else had this done? I don't even know if that meets the requirements, but I think its pointless. The whole idea is for me to be more visible and I think headlights to a better job of that than parking lights. I just wanted to hear from anyone else out there before I went to complain to Canadian tire to fix it.
