I've read that Kia is getting an Amanti upgrade (the "VG") for 2010, to be released in August. For anyone who has any familiarity with the Amanti (rebadged XG350, which was the predecessor of the Azera), I'm sure you'll agree it is a much-needed improvement for Kia. What isn't clear is whether Hyundai will get their version of the VG platform to upgrade the Azera for 2010 or if the Azera will be discontinued to allow Hyundai to focus on marketing only one version of the VG platform for Kia and one version of the Genesis platform for Hyundai.
Any thoughts or rumors would be appreciated. If 2009 is in fact the last year for the Azera, do you think this will cause difficulty in the form of increased depreciation and harder-to-find parts for Azera owners or do you think it will be a net positive for Azera owners? Optimists may conclude that a discontinued Azera would result in even better value for buyers after August 2009 and possibly set up collector's-item status for 2006-9 Azera owners.

I've searched the forum for a bit but could not find a similar issue as mine, but has anyone (maybe around 35000 miles) like me, experienced a creaking noise when you brake? The car typically does it after warming up, but every time I come to a complete stop, the rear of the car produces a creaking noise right before the braking completes. I brought it to Hyundai, they couldn't replicate it. So I took them for a drive myself, and was able to replicate it, however the technician had never heard or experienced this before. So far it's intermittent, but whenever it's more constant I'll bring it in again. Thanks for any info.

2006 Azera 44,600Km both ball joints are gone! All driving in city or hwy.
Will be replaced under warranty, but wtf that's not many miles.
How good are these parts they use and is this the reason fro the cheaper price?
Salesman confirmed to me today that the Azzy is out! They'll no longer manufature it after the last model run.

Has anyone used the BBB arbitration process that is in the owners manual supplement OR the lemon law to resolve any issues? Particularly interested in any suspension issues.
Thanks,

Today and other times when I needed the car to perform it responded as expected- Outstanding! I must admit I never had a performance vehicle before. I enjoy have the ability to avoid an accident or just move out when I have to-What a pleasure. I know that there are better performing cars, but the Azera is very well suited for my needs.

Hey everyone,
I just installed HID lights in my 07 Azera. I installed 6000K H8's in the fogs and was able to install 6000K H11's in the headlights with minor modifications. I absolutely love these lights. I got each set from sharphid.com for $100 a set, but later discovered I could have got the same exact item at ddmtuning.com for $60 a set. They even have a lifetime warranty. Yeah!! I was looking around different forums and the Sonata guys have our same situation with H11b's. One of the guys successfully installed the H11's in his car and gave a complete rundown on what it took to complete. Here is the link:
http://www.hyundai-forums.com/t30328-hid-3...or-the-2009.htm It only took a couple of hours to install the fogs and headlights. If anyone has any questions, feel free to reply.

I am trying to install H11 HID lights on a H11B system. When I opened my headlight, both wires connected to the H11B Connector was yellow. Does anyone know how I can determine which wire is + or - based on the location in the connector?
I need this information to connect the wires together. I'm hoping for a solution without a multimeter...
Thank you!

Hello all. Seems like there's a lot of knowledgeable people here. Maybe you can help me.
I've recently bought a 2008 Azera and it has the factory Inifinity head unit with the 6 disc changer. I've been reading through the responses on the forum and I am a little confused as to whether or not the iPod integration can be added to the 2008 model. I bought the car from CarMax and they said they could not/would not add the integration. Is that something I can get done at the dealership or do I need to get an aftermarket unit? I would prefer to just get an aftermarket navigation unit installed with everything on it, but if I can hook the iPod directly to the factory stereo, I could save money and be satisfied with a portable Nav unit.
Thanks

I was in Venice Florida the last two weeks on vacation and noticed that Azera is a hot car down there. I saw almost 40 Azera's in and around Venice in different colors and years. When I went to Naples I saw a few more. Then I noticed in a car ad at Jenkins Auto Dealership in Sarasota that the discounts on Azera is a good buying opportunity. I saw a price after discounts of $20,100 bucks on a new 2009 Azera. This is a great price for the car. 20,000 bucks for a Azera loaded. You must be kidding.
I never saw any deals on the new Genesis or the Genesis Coup that is now available. Too bad but if Hyundai is discounting the Azera in this manner maybe by the end of the summer Genesis will also follow. Sure hope so as I would trade my Azera or a Genesis anyday.

Because existing sources of auto reliability information left much to be desired, in late 2005 I started conducting my own reliability research at
TrueDelta.com. TrueDelta reports absolute stats like "trips to the shop" that make the differences between cars much clearer. Results are updated four times a year, so it's possible to provide reliability information on new models quickly. Also, any significant changes in a model's reliability become apparent quickly.
An Azera owner recently emailed me, wondering when the Azera would be included in this survey. That depends on how soon I have 25 owners signed up for a model year. Currently the 2006 is at 17 and the 2007 is at 12. If enough members from this forum join up, the Azera could be included starting next month.
Participants simply report repairs the month after they occur on a one-page survey. When there are no repairs, they simply report an approximate odometer reading four times a year, at the end of each quarter.
To encourage participation, panel members will receive full access to the results for free.
For the details, and to sign up to help out:

Here's a quote out of Wikipedia on the topic of Roll Bars:
Because an anti-roll bar connects wheels on the opposite sides of the vehicle together, the bar will transmit the force of one-wheel bumps to the opposite wheel. On rough or broken pavement, anti-roll bars can produce jarring, side-to-side body motions (a "waddling" sensation), which increase in severity with the diameter and stiffness of the sway bars.
Seems to me that a possible fix for this problem on Azeras is to install an aftermarket roll bar on the front that is "softer" than OEM, not stiffer. Anyone try this fix yet?

I have a 2007 Azera Limited, and almost every time I fill up, the fuel overflows and splashes out. It can be a small amount of fuel (usually after I've mowed and am already dirty) or a very large amount (usually when I'm dressed for church). It happens at different gas stations, so it's not the pump. My dealer has tried twice to fix the problem, but can't seem to resolve it. Anybody had this problem and gotten it fixed?
Thanks,
Brandon

We all heard that the new Hyundai-built 6-speed automatic was going into 3.3 liter GLS cars starting in January 2009.
I was intrigued by the promised gas-mileage improvement, and have been watching for it ever since.
But, I haven't seen any evidence of one in this country yet.
Have you?

Has anyone had to cut the rotors on their Azera?? I had them cut once and am again experiencing a shake when breaking, especially when applying brakes downhill at a high speed, maybe around 55 or 60. Talked to my mechanic and he said we can cut the rotors again but i probably will have to get new ones soon. Any info on what type or make of rotor i should get that might eliminate this problem in the future. Or must i stick with Hyundai factory rotors. I noticed an old post in this forum about slotted rotors and so on. Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated.

After carefully reading the manual for the '09 Azera Limited w/ Infinity PA760S radio, I can't figure out if -- and if so, how -- to get the display to show the call letters of the FM station being played as well as the song titles and artisits as so many radios do. No one at the dealer seems to know.
Also, cannot figure out what the CAT(FLDR) button does. The SET UP button seems to just control Text scrolling -- which I can't seem to figure out what it does -- and the XM radio with only one option.
With XM radio, song titles and artists are displayed.
Any help would be appreciated.

My air conditioner (from new) seems to work properly only when I'm driving over 50mph. On the interstate, for example, it's fine. Recently I had a passenger who really drew my attention to it. "What's wrong with your air conditioner. You should get it fix!"
It seems that, when I am stopped (as in stop-and-go traffic) or parked with the car running, the air conditioner blows warm air.
Is this normal for this car? It's a 2006 Azera. If not, is there an easy fix?
This happened from day 1, so I just thought it was normal. But I guess it's not.
I wanted to ask here, before I approached the dealer. I am due scheduled maintenance next week. I was going to bring it up then.
Thanks
Katz

Hey everyone. New to the forums. I'm going to be a junior in college and the time has come to look at a newer car. My 95' maxima is about to bite the dust and I need something reliable to drive to my Merrill Lynch internship for the summer. We were first looking at an 09' Sonata V6 (used with 20,000 miles) for $16,500. They were a little reluctant to lower the price so with $1,000 down and trading in the Maxima, the total would have been roughly $14,500 so I decided to walk away from the offer.
I was looking around more and just found an 06' White Azera Limited. It has 43,000 miles and the dealer is asking $13,888. I have been reading quite a few posts on here, one pretty close to what I am posting now. the main problem some Azera owners seem to have is with the suspension system. Is there a public report from Hyundai about this? Maybe a possible recall? If not, would an aftermarket suspension system work? Also, what features are on this car? I know dual climate control, but is the back sunshade standard on the limited?
Thanks for any help you guys can provide!

So I have my Azera sitting in the parking lot today at work and I put the rear shade up and buzzzzzz it goes up no problem. ( 80 degrees today ) I get off work and start backing out of my parking spot and ......nothing. So I'm cruising down the road and it hits me ...Heeeeey that was supposed to go down when I put the car in reverse. Soooooo....I push the button......Crunch...grind...Snap !! And it gnarls all up and starts the grind grind click thing. I had to go back and push it down by hand............. It's dealer time. Think I have a wheel bearing going also.....Got a pretty wicked roar coming from rear of car. And a nasty rattle buzz thing from right rear door. I think she's mad at me for driving the truck or something
17,000 miles
Oh and after sitting for over a week and a half the battery was dead..................................................... Ok Ok......The trunk was open....jeeze !!

I was going to do a poll, but I can't get the poll function to work.
Anyway, I'm curious to hear how many Azera owners have had suspension issues with their Azera. In particular, the wallowing and harshness and/or clunking over rough/uneven pavement.
Please reply with the following info:
-Year of your Azera
-Mileage at which you began to notice a problem
-How many times your vehicle has been in to the dealer for this issue and the results of each "fix"
As for the Azera owners who don't have problems, please feel free to chime in with your experience as well.
If nothing else maybe one of us can forward this information to Hyundai Motor America. If enough people speak up about this problem they might take the issue a little more seriously.

I've been living with a rattle in the rear shelf since ~6k miles. When I took the car in for an early 15k service, I told them about it. It rattles whether the radio is on or not, so it's not speaker vibration. The tech heard the rattle, but did NOTHING to try to fix it. I was told by the service writer that since I was past 12k miles, it may or may not be a warrantied repair! He said that if the part is broken, it would be covered, but if it simply needed an adjustment it would NOT be covered. HOW DO YOU ADJUST A REAR PACKAGE SHELF???
I called Hyundai USA and was told the same thing. The girl at Hyundai said they go by what the dealership says. It was almost like she was saying "wink, wink - have the tech say the piece was broken and we'll pay for it." I called the service manager and told him I'm no longer feeling so good about America's best warranty. I'm supposed to authorize them to tear the car apart not knowing what reason they'll give for the rattle - and who will pay and how much. It's an intermittent rattle, so I've been tolerating it. The service manager says they are very happy to do the work, and they don't care who pays for it, and that since customers buy cars, not Hyundai, they really want me happy and aren't so concerned about Hyundai's happiness in the matter. Service Manager Training 101?
He is going to ask the Hyundai rep to cover this no matter the cause as a gesture of good will. Anyone know where the secret adjusment screw is on the rear package shelf? Absurd.

All the issues I have had with my 2006 Azera were resolved Tuesday when I traded for a new 2009. I no longer have the ticking sound from the engine (injectors?), uneven tire wear on the rear tires, and the front doors that just wouldn't stay open as we felt they should. I am very happy so far and will post any issues or comments as necessary including any previous issues that persist.

During coasting, (foot off the gas paddle) from 40-60 mph the RPMs stabilizes at 1100RPMs then feels like the car down shifts and RPMs rises 200-250 RPMs. The car is still in the same gear. This happens two to three times before actually down shifting to a lower gear. Has anyone noticed this? Is it normal?
This is happening in fourth ands fifth gears. I'm think about taking it to the dealer.

i never thought one of the criteria for buying a car was how it coasts. well maybe i did. i loved how my wifes grandmother's buick coasted. let off the gas and it would go for miles. this car on the other hand, when i let off the gas its fine if im over 55, but from 55 and under, the rpms fall, then rise again, then fall again, etc. its like the torque convertor locks and unlocks constantly. its such a pain in the butt and it seems to be growing in intensity. is anyone else experiencing this and more importantly, got it fixed?

Last year my wife bought a 07 Azera program car. Aside from the usual problems ,handling, cracked dash ect. no major problems. Well a month ago one of the low beams burnt out. She stopped at NAPA picked up 2 bulbs and they won't fit. Well OK she returned them and they couldn't find anything else that didn't have the same base. Same deal at auto zone. So she went to the dealer and after calling one after another, mechanic sales person ect. they were all clueless. They will find out what is going on and get back to us with lightbulbs. It has been over a month ..........nothing. She has been pulled over twice for driving with one headlight. Anybody have a clue what is going on?????

Hi All, I just bought my second '07 Azera Ultimate two days ago. This is going to be my car. My wife's is in the shop; some vandals came by last Sunday in the wee hours of the morning, pulled our mailbox post off, and used it to damage the side of the 2-month-old black Azera - my wife's car - then to completely shatter the windshield. Glass EVERYWHERE. They also smashed a window in the vacant / for sale house across the street. Soo-Dae is going to be out of commission for at least 3 weeks (2 weeks from now), quite possibly longer. $2000 worth of damage, not including any 'secondary' damage, like replacing the stereo if glass got inside the CD player. An early xmas present.
Anyhow, no more SOB story about (two month) old Soo-Dae, meet Thor:

More photos:
http://www.andywhalen.com/images/cars/thor/The Infinity Surround stereo is of course phenomenal, ESPECIALLY compared to the absolutely crummy stereos in my '90s Jaguars and recent-past BMWs. Happy days!
BUT... no auxiliary inputs. Nrts! I am an MP3 person these days, I've been using a cheap cassette tape adapter for my MP3 player in the Jag but obviously that's no longer available to me. My phone/mp3 player does not have FM transmitter. So I need to be able to plug it in somehow - bluetooth or otherwise.
I found this thread for stereo removal:
http://www.hyundai-forums.com/index.php?showtopic=19315
Easy! OK, out comes the stereo, very nice. I have two questions regarding what's back there, before I start tearing it apart:
First, is there any kind of RCA or other auxiliary input on the stereo that I could just use to run a line to? I can get whatever kind of adapter - but just wondering if there's any open ports on the factory head unit.
Second, and very importantly: Is that thing a standard double-DIN unit? Could I get, say, hmm... a double-DIN navigation

headunit and just swap 'em out (with the appropriate wiring harness adapters of course)?
Many thanks in advance to all the other fellow Azera owners on this forum who have had the fortitude and insanity to dive in and start mucking with the electronics on a $30k car that's still under warranty!
Cheers!

-Andy

Hello everyone,
Since I got the car in October I did my brakes a few times so thought I would share my experience. I did the front rotors and pads and left the back brakes till later. I guess I left them too long because my new rotors in the front warped in less than 6 months. I did not realize how bad the back brakes were until I had them rechecked. Turns out they are pretty worn out, so I figure that my front brakes were working too hard and the rotors warped from the excessive heat. Thus, try to do both brakes close together if you have to do them.
When taking off the rotors I found two screws (phillips head) that hold them on. Turns out that the metal is really soft and easily breaks off. On the front I broke off 3 out of the 4 screw heads! It is a pain in the ****. I had to drill out the screws and re-thread the holes (thank goodness I had the tools for that) So warning, be very careful with those screws. I would suggest buying new ones when you are going to do yours and just throw the old ones out.
I found a strange thing on the back brakes of my 06 Azera. I figured that the car was discs front and back. Turns out that the back brakes are some weird combo of drums and discs? Anyone else notice this. When I took the rotors off I noticed a set up for drum brakes (which I have never done and will have to pay for the mechanic to change). But the car also has a small caliper and 2 small discs. I have never seen combo brakes like this before (though I admit I do not have a whole lot of experience on other cars so that is not saying much). When I go do them again, I will be happy to take some pics and post them for those of you who want to try doing them yourself.

Are they covered under the warranty?

Do you think that the new 641's are covered under the warranty. My car has the 640's and I'm having no problems with them so far. I would like to upgrade them before the warranty is up in 5 months. Do you think they'll replace them if they're still good after they do a test drive just for the upgrade?

Beware the Owner's Maunual guidelines for changing the Azera's transmission fluid. It clearly calls for a change at 105,000 miles. Don't follow it. Here's my experience with dealers and a Hyundai Motor America representative on this subject.
About a month ago, while I waited for some warranty work to complete on a seat belt retractor, the service manager button-holed me and, in a stern tone, admonished me for waiting well beyond the recommended 30,000 mile transaxle fluid change interval. When I showed him the 105,000 guideline in the manual, he seemed surprised and said he had never been challenged on that 30,000 mile change recommendation before.
Three weeks later, I followed up at another dealer. Same stern advice and the same bewilderment when I pointed out the Owner's Manual guideline. The maintenance tech actually said he had no idea why the manual called for a 105k change interval. He also suggested that if I didn't change the fluid sooner, Hyundai might not honor its warranty if the tranny had a problem. He guessed that Hyundai would claim the vehicle had been driven under "severe driving conditions", e.g., towing, and would decline to provide warranty coverage.
Next I wrote Hyundai Motor America asking for an explanation and I just got a call from them. Basically, they affirmed that the transaxle fluid, for "most" Azera's require a change every 30,000 miles. (Note, the price per change hovers around $200.00.) They danced around the Maunual Guidlines, refused to identify any place in the country where severe driving conditions aren't the rule, and also said most owners don't read the manual anyway.
So, beware the preposterously out-of whack Owner's Manual maintenance guidelines for transmission care.

Driving on dry pavement- When I stop normally it's fine, but when I stop hard from high speeds the brake pedal makes a little "click feel" to it. It doesn't puslate like the ABS wants to come on- What do you all think?
Thanks, GrayKnight

Greetings to all Azera owners,
Recently purchased a used 2007 Azera and had an auto-start installed by local retailer of Viper auot-start. After installation the airbag light came on and can't seem to be reset by company who installed auto-start. Company has all the tools to reset. No previous problems with airbag light. Only surfaced after auto-start installed. Any thoughts. Thanks

Hello.
I hava a problem with my Azera. After a small accident (hit from pass side) I have only problems with my car.
First I had to replace one of the CATs and later on all the Oxygen sensors.
Now the diagnostics show the listed below error codes:
P0171
P0174
P2189
The car sometimes has problems with starting and the Check Engine pops up after a while.
I am located in Poland and the local Hyundai dealer gave up - they just do not know how to fix it.
Thak You in advance for any suggestions.
