Would it be possible to put all your "finds" in a single thread, because you are cluttering up the board with all the posts? Perhaps it could even be pinned at the top in the 2nd gen Santa Fe section.

Doesn't look half bad either and is inexpensive

We've all seen a lot of comparisons of the SF up against the RAV4, CR-V, SX-7, ect., but I came across this MotorTrend comparison review:
2007 Ford Edge vs. 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe vs. 2006 Nissan Murano vs. 2007 Toyota Highlander
I can see the Edge and maybe the Highlander since the size is about the same, but the Murano? It was just nice to see the SF up against some other models for a change.
Here is the link:

Hi, here are some pictures of my GPS installation. While performing it, I was able to look inside the front panels, and I love the build quality of the Santa Fe.

After what seemed like 7,386 phone calls and emails I finally found the Brush Grill Guard for the 07 Santa Fe.
I will be picking up mine today (saves me $120.00 in freight) and when I get it installed I will shoot a pic n post. A bit pricey, but considering I have yet to see one on the road I decided " I gotta have it". Comes in gloss black only. I am going to sit down with the owner of the company, show him my wholesalers n business license and see if I can rep the product. If all goes well I should have them on Ebay in about 2 weeks.
till next time
here is what they look like only all black powder coat

I installed the Drawtite hitch and am ready to carry bikes with the Santa Fe. I have a couple of different setups that I thought I'd share in case anyone is interested.
First is a rack made by Raxter :
http://www.raxterracks.com/[attachmentid=3641]
This is the single bike option. I wanted something small, but with the option of adding on additional bike capacity later. The rack is very well made and super light, making it easy to put on / take off. Clearance is good and the bike is stable. Loading/unloading the bike only requires securing the 4 velcro straps.
[attachmentid=3643]
[attachmentid=3642]
Second option is a homemade bike rack. I picked up a 'excess cargo carrier' at Harbor Freight Tools. It's a 20x60" platform with a wire mess floor that's useful for carrying stuff you don't want inside your car. I picked up a couple of fork mounts from Perfomance Bike. The ones I used are made for their 'truck rack' - they just happen to fit perfectly on the rails of the cargo carrier. Strap down the rear wheel with a bunge cord and you're set. Total cost was less than $60 and the cargo carrier us useful for things other than bikes as well. It's pretty heavy, though.
[attachmentid=3639]
[attachmentid=3644]
[attachmentid=3640]
I highly recommend using an anti-sway hitch pin with any hitch mounted rack. Better yet, get a locking anti-sway pin and add extra protection for your rack.

If you have mounted nerf bars on your Santa Fe try this for a custom look.
I am thinking it would really look good if your bars are black.
Pick up a couple of the Santa Fe emblems like in the pic below and adhere to your nerf bars in the center where there is no insert.
Chrome emblem on black nerf bar should look sweet.
If your nerf bars are chrome just have the emblems powdercoated (after you have shaped them) whatever color you want and then adhere to your bars in the center.
If you decide to do this post pics for us.
The way to get the emblem to conform to round pipe is to take something as big around as your nerf bar, duct tape emblem tightly to it and then gently tap with rubber mallot. As it takes the shape re-tape and tap some more till you get the desired effect. I have done this with Harley emblems and it has worked. Just gotta go slow n even when tapping.

Is there any way to change the display so that it will stay on the song title or artist? It defaults back to the station name and number. I'm constantly having to push the info button. I have the Roady unit in my XG and its display can be changed so that when you scroll you can see the song title or the artist. It's a pretty useful feature and I was hoping that I could change it on the Santa Fe. I have the 2007 Limited with the most basic factory radio.
Thanks.

Hi all,
After debating what bike rack solution we wanted to use on my wife's SF we decided on a Hidden Hitch/Swagman XC combo. I won't go into too much detail of the Hidden Hitch install..it's been done by 07SanteFe
http://www.hyundai-forums.com/t16331-hidde...tos-opinion.htm.
I used my 3 ton trolley jack to hold the sucker up while doing the install. Helps to have a 3/4 inch gear wrench around. I found it tough to get a socket/rachet combo on the bolt closest to the back. I was told by 3 dealers that the hitches were on back-order but at Hitch City in Mississauga they had some in stock.
Went for the Swagman XC based on the way it holds the bikes and the good reviews it's getting over at Amazon.com.
Assembly was a breeze and build quality of the unit seems to be ok. I'll have a better informed opinion after some use.
Only minor complaint I have is how close the bike is to the body of the vehicle. Might strap some extra padding on those spots just to be on the safe side. Anyways, now on with the show.

I will be picking up my 07 Santa FE in a couple of days, its the 3.3l. I know it has a tow rating of 3500lbs. I have a 12ft pop up trailer with dry weight of 1900lbs. My vehicle is not coming with the tow package but it will have a hitch installed at the dealer. I will have to get the wiring and the trailer brake installed after.
How difficult is it to do the wiring, I will need the 7way round plug for the trailer brakes.
I think I should be fine for weight, I was towing this camper with an 01 Grand Caravan with little problems with only 185hp.
Anyboby towing anything similar, help on the wiring would also be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

It is important that you use keywords other than Santa Fe.
Here are some examples of keywords to use in your searches.
santa fe, sante fe, 2007, 07, santafe, santefe, hyundai, hyundia.
http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?s...gtp=&fpos=92865If you find something you like, ALWAYS ask questions to make sure it is what you want.
ALWAYS keep the communication with the seller nice and friendly.
Ask for measurements and dimensions of item if not posted in the ad.
Be clear about what you are paying for and getting.
Ask if there is a shipping discount for buying multiple items.
If your item arrives and it is what you ordered always leave feedback accordingly.
Another site to check once in a while is www.craigslist.org
It is a free site
There are sites out there (and I will not mention names) that believe they have a monopoly (or exlusive) on Hyundai accessories, and they really don't.
It is just a matter of time before other sites will offer the accessories at a more competitive price, and like all things (well most anyways) the price will come down eventually.
Shop around.
Don't assume that the item you are looking for can not be bought online somewhere else.
Here is southern California (downtown LA) we have a wholesalers market/swap meet kinda thing.
I will check it out in a coupla weeks to see what they have for the Sante Fes and report back.
Putco makes quite a few of the items folks are looking for and I will try and get a catalog.
I can PDF and post here.
Westin, Curt, Hiddenhitch, Aries, Rhino, Saewon are others I will try and get info on.

We bought our '07 Santa Fe limited about four months ago. This was the fifth new Hyundai I've purchased since 1987. I've owned a '88 Excel, '92 Scoupe, 98 Sonata, '02 Santa fe and now the '07 Santa Fe.
This new Santa fe experience is the worst of any new Hyundai I've bought. Some of the issues have been dealer related some factory related and some my own fault for selecting this particular Santa fe when I knew it had issues right off the lot when we bought. I accepted the dealers pitch that "We'll make everything right"....They rarely do.
Our Santa Fe has a severe hood alignment issue where the hood meets the grill and headlights. There is a significant gap. One large enough you can clearly see the weatherstipping and small rubber bump stops dont contact the grill. You can stick your fingers between the grill and hood. The car has been to the dealer several times. Hyundai even sent an Engineer to the dealer to have a crack at it. He agreed it was the worst fit of any Santa Fe he's seen. He tried to improve it but to no avail. This isnt our only issue. We've been experiencing a groaning noise when driving under light throttle. Turns out we were 1 1/2 quarts low on transmission fluid......The car only has 4000 miles on it and the dealer cannot figure out why it was low.
Our front bumper paint is a shade lighter than the rest of the car. While the rear bumper appears to be a good match the front bumper is noticeably lighter. The dealer offered to re-paint it but they could not promise it would look any better.
Other issues are dealer related issues such as small cuts in leather seats, scratches and scuffs in paint. Dealer said they could order leather seat covers from the factory but the fit of the covers wont be as good as originals. For some reason they dont get new seat assemblies rather they have to replace the leather covers. Since they said the fit wont be as good we decided to leave the seats we have.
There have been several other smaller issues that the dealer did resolve.
Overall I'm dissappointed with this new $30,000 Hyundai. Most likely my last Hyundai.

Hi All,
I found a few things out today from Hyundai Consumer Affairs and wanted to post it here for people with the same questions/issues.
1) Regarding the "map light/door" fix, the rep at Hyundai Consumer Affairs told me today that Hyundai's official position is "we won't fix this for older 2007's. It will be between you and your dealer but any change will be considered a mod and void the electrical warranty." So basically, we're out of luck until someone can mod it safely. I'm gonna take a look and see if the wiring for the dome light runs across the map light area.
2) regarding the Infinity Stereo hiss, he told me as of this date, there are no plans to fix this, though they acknowledged the problem. I hope this becomes a TSB soon cause it's driving me nuts.
3) Regarding the trailer wiring harness, he told me that it would NOT be available as a separate part from the hitch. You must purchase the Hyundai hitch and wiring harness together. So unless you wanna pay $400+ for a $150 hitch and harness, at this point we're not gonna be able to use the prewiring unless an after-market company makes a harness for it. I went with a Curt hitch, which like the Hidden Hitch, tucks up underneath and looks great. 20 minutes to install with 4 bolts. I went with the Hidden Hitch wiring Harness 118415, which plugs into the tail lights. I haven't found any pop-outs under the vehicle like the 2005 had, so if you want to run the wires out the bottom, you'll have to drill. Has anyone with the 118415 noticed any problems with voltage drop/blown fuses by hooking into the tail lights as it does? I heard a rumor we're not supposed to do that, hence the prewiring, but if you wanna tow, you need lights from someplace. Hence the rock and the hard place.
Thanks!
Mike
