Is there an available cargo cover for the 2008 Santa Fe? I saw one on Hyundai accessory store that seems right. It's not listed as an option or accessory anywhere. I loved mine in my 2004 and really want one for my 2008. Any help is appreciated.

Hi
Need to feed a single wire from the pedal area, through the bulkhead and into the engine bay. Found a large rubber grommet above the brake servo feeding wiring loom through. Tried feeding cable feeder through here but can't get through to pedal area. Any suggestions?

I've noticed a couple of times in the 08 3.3L engine a strange, yet not unpleasant sound.
If the radio is off and it's quiet.. when I turn off the engine, there is this "winding down" or "spinning down" sound that appears to be coming from the drivers side of the motor..
And no.. I didn't install a Turbo.. hehe
Anyone else hear this? What the **** is it??

After being on this forum for a couple months, I finally purchased my '08 Santa Fe Limited AWD. I absolutely love the CUV and all my "you got a hyundai??" friends had changed their minds about the company after taking a ride in it.
Being this is the first time I purchased a new car, I wanted to take care of it. I added the GE 10yr 100,000mile warranty that covers everything that the factory warranty didn't cover. I also signed up for the "free tires for life of car" program if I bring the car into them and pay for the regularly suggested service tasks. I live in an area that does not allow me to change my own oil, so I'm considering having them do that as well.
My question is this.. is it worth it for the free tires and the extra warranty? I was told that I had to bring in most service work into the dealer in order to keep my GE warranty. Would I be spending too much on needless stuff? or is it a good form of preventative maintenance?
Lastly, I did some searches on snow tires.. some people say yes, others no. Does anyone have 2 year experience with them? I live in NH so we get a fair amount of snow and ice.

Hello folks, just wanted to share our newest ride. Picked up this 2008 Santa Fe SE AWD yesterday, wife wanted my 07 Sonata SE with only 9970 on the clock and gave me the thumbs up to snag one of these. Outside of the fuel gauge not accurately reflecting the tank contents, it is very nice! Look forward to engaging with other SF owners, regards...Joe.

Hello,
I have a 2008 Santa Fe GLS with the 3.3L engine. I noticed that the engine rev at approximately 2100 RPM at 100km/Hr (60MPH).
This seems a bit high........
Is this normal? I have owned several vehicles which were all moslty used for HWY purposes. None of my previous vehicles rev'd this high at the lower hwy speeds.
Thanks

I know this has been discussed before, but if I had to pick one think that bugs me about my wifes car, it would have to be the lack of the iPod jack. I have an Aux-in chip for my car, does anything like this exist for the Sante Fe? I'd gladly give up XM if I could just plug in an iPod...

Hi all,
Just wanted to check in. After a pile of research including Consumer Reports and Automobile Protection Association in Canada (which got me 500.00 over invoice), my wife and I are off to do the paperwork of a new 2008 Limited 5 pass SF.
It was great to browse the forums and see all of the issues and resolutions with the vehicle. This is my first non-honda since 1982!
And yes... I know I can't plug my iPod in

So going home last monday our road flooded from TS Fay. I followed a deputy sherriff in his dodge Dakota pick up truck with no problems. The water at the time was around 1.5 feet. I am totally impressed with my santa fe---limited with 18 inch wheels (which I'm sure helped with the rising water).

Hi Everyone,
I am considering purchasing my first Hyundai. I have two young children and we need more room than the current car can provide. We have our eye on a 2007 or 2008 Santa Fe. Could you current owners give me some feedback on the Santa Fe? One question I do have is should we get a FWD or AWD? We need to make the right decision here. We like the Santa Fe and the Kia Sorento and are trying to decide!
Thanks!

Hey guys, just wanted to let you all know that I am going to be trading in my santa fe in for a genesis. I am going to return it stock. Therefore, I'm going to sell some of the mods I made, on ebay. I wanted to let all of you know first so that you're all aware and get first dibbs. Items that I wil be selling include The LED rear light set (that is on back order fom KAI.com). The Euro taillight set (with clear blinkers), Also, the SES stainless steel grill (2 piece set). All of these items are in near perfect condition( I'll have pics and details on ebay). I not looking to make a killing on them but I think that you guys will save a lot of money by buying them from me as aposed to KIA.com. I'll probably hold a reserve but will list them with "Best Offer". I think some of you will be happy to be getting these items for far less than the afformentioned website. I also have the Romik bullbar that I would like to get rid of but I'm not sure if I'm going to list it.

It's hard for me to think about doing but next summer I'll be selling my baby to put towards a new '09 Santa Fe Limited AWD. But before I jump the gun, I wanted to feel the waters of the new generation Santa Fe for durability. I have noticed a few qualms on here but nothing major. In 95,000 miles, my 2004 has not once given me a lick of trouble. I really don't even know what my Check Engine light looks like...
I have driven the new Santa and like it very much. They've addressed pretty much all my complaints on a very short list that I have on my '04. The new one has much less body roll (it's a big thing on mine), less road and wind noise, more power, better interior materials, and illuminated steering wheel controls!

Just wanted to get the opinions of those who have had the new Santa Fe for a while and racked some miles up. Thanks!
And if it's at all possible, I'll try to hang onto the '04. She is my baby, after all.

Hello!
I haven't been able to find the right way to fold the back seat (2nd row)!
According to the manual, I should:
(1) fold the backrest using the normal backrest setting lever
(2) actuate a second lever somewhere at a corner of the back of the backrest (where is this second lever????)
(3) actuate a third lever under the left and right sides of the seat (where is this third lever ????)and then fold the whole forward
Can anyone tell or show me how to fold back the seat (steps 2 and 3) ?
All I can do is have a more or less flat loading surface with the back of the backrest...
Thanks!
Pics are welcome!!!

I was wondering if napa or schucks carries the filters yet, or if we need to go to the dealer.
Also, one would assume that the crush washer(for the oil plug) would come with the filter kit, as it does with BMW ect.

K, I have the Limited with the auto climate control. I read the manual last night (again)
I'd just like to have fresh air blowing into the cabin when it's cool outside.
I'll turn auto to off and turn on the fan.. the inside and outside temp is still displayed. I'd like to be sure the A/C isn't coming on. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Sorry if this this is a stupid newb question

TIA

Hey everyone! This is my first post in this forum! YAY !
I am planning to change my stock fog lights (27W) and upgrade them for HID ballasts (35W).
1- Is there enough room down there to tie up the ballasts securely?
2- Any flickering due to increased wattage? Do I need to use a relay?
3- How easy is the access to the fog lights areas under a SF 2007?
Thks for the assistance! I appreciate it!

Apologies if this has been covered already but my forum search found nothing. I have an '08 Limited and I've noticed no door chime alert when I have the headlights or parking lights on and open the door.
As I've tested, if I open my door with the lights on, they'll go off so no warning chime is necessary. However if I still have the door open and turn the lights on with the car off I get no chime. Is this right?
Thx!

Just wondering if anyone has tried to sleep overnight in the back of their Santa Fe.
We're not planning on doing it often, but there is a chance that we (wife and I) may need to do so in the coming weeks (just for one night) if we get stuck without a room.
We've got sleeping bags and a foam mattress that we can cut to fit the back. It'll be tight quarters but it should be doable.
I have some vinyl screen that I can cut and place over a one to two inch opening in the windows to help keep the condensation down (if it doesn't rain or snow).
If anyone has done this, I'd be interested in their experiences and look forward to any suggestions to make the best of it.

Hi my friends, i want to change the whole audio system of my Santa fe, but i don't know what is the size of the speakers that could fix in the space of the doors.....
according to onlinecarstereo.com the ideal size of the speakers is: 6 1/2",
but according to sonicelectronix.com and crutchfield.com the ideal size of the speakers is: 6 3/4" (Oversized 6-1/2"),
I don't care if i have to buy the 6 3/4" speakers, although there is much variety of products for the 6 1/2" size and more sales, that's why i need to be sure of the real speakers size...
Thanks....

I was looking over at a posted link and found a set of Interior LED set for the Santa FE ( 07 and over).
They seem pretty cool and not too expensive. Its 99 dollars with shipping and handling and it includes 2 map lights, middle light and, rear light.
(i emailed them they said they do express delivery for an additional 25 dollars)
http://www.kspec.com/list.php?ac_id=177&ai_id=1757What you guys think of these? Anyone here bought an LED set before?

Hi folks,
I wonder if any of you can advise? I have a late 2006 Santa Fe (2007 model). It's a great car but I have one niggle that Hyundai seem loathe to help me with. Cruise Control cuts out on its own in particular circumstances. It's been in to the service centre six times and I'm now told that Hyundai UK say "that's the way it should be." Is it me, or am I correct? Hyundai have quoted page 104 to me (see below), but surely that's only if the speed DECREASES more than 9mph BELOW the set speed. I'm not going below the set speed, I'm exceeding it. I'll set the scene...
If I am following a vehicle with cruise control on, at, say, a steady 60 mph, and I want to overtake a vehicle, I depress the accelerator to gain speed, overtake the vehicle, and then pull in and release the accelerator pedal. The instructions and
every other car I’ve ever driven with cruise control follows this pattern, the speed should drop back down to 60mph and then continue at that speed. The fault on my vehicle is that when I get to around 5-7mph over the ’set’ speed, the SET light extinguishes on the dashboard, cruise control function ceases, and the speed drops back to zero, if left. This is patently wrong.
The Santa Fe manual states:
P103: To increase speed, temporarily depress the accelerator pedal enough for the vehicle to exceed the preset speed. When you remove your foot from the accelerator pedal, the vehicle will return to the speed you have set.
P104: NOTE: If the vehicle speed decreases more than 9 mph (15 km/h) below the set speed or decreases below 25 mph (40 km/h), the cruise control system will automatically cancel the set speed.
Even Wikipedia agrees with my understanding:
Quote from Wikipedia: Cruise Control
...The car will maintain that speed by pulling the throttle cable with a solenoid or a vacuum driven servomechanism. Most systems can be turned off both explicitly and automatically, when the driver hits the brake or clutch. Cruise control often includes a memory feature to resume the set speed after braking and a coast feature to reset the speed lower without braking.
When the cruise control is in effect, the throttle can still be used to accelerate the car, but once it is released the car will then slow down until it reaches the previously set speed. Source
Wikipedia - Cruise ControlHas anyone experienced anything similar or have any ideas/suggestions, please? Sorry for the length of the post?

We just received a letter from Hyundai Auto Canada Corp. informing us that the 2007 and 2008 model year Santa Fe vehicles, produced beginning April 19, 2006 through May 29, 2008, and equipped with P235/60R18 tires fail to conform to Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard
No. 110 , Tire Selection and Rims.
The black Certification Label affixed to the driver's side center pillar, visible when the driver's door is open, incorrectly lists the Gross Axle Weight Ratings (GAWR) as FRONT 2976 lbs (1353 kg) and REAR 3197 lbs (1453 kg). The correct GAWR are FRONT 2910 lbs (1320 kg) and REAR 3131 lbs (1420 kg).
Hyundai Canada sent out a new GAWR correction label to be affixed adjacent to the current GAWR label.
I'm interested in knowing what GAWR information is labeled on the Santa Fe vehicles operating in the U.S. Is the information the same (for those vehicles produced during the same date range)? If so, has anyone in the U.S. received any such notification from Hyundai U.S.?

I am in the process of receiving my new 08 white 3.3 GLS Santa Fe here in Ontario, Canada. My question is how long is reasonable to have to wait for your vehicle to come into the dealer. So that I may take delivery. So far it has been a week and a half. Called the dealer and said it could be another week or two!!!!!
Is this typical for Hyundai. I have bought Honda's in the past and never had to wait for a vehicle for more than a few days. Whether the vehicle was on the lot of having to locate one elsewhere. Just would like to know everyones thoughts. Thanks....
P.S. Can't wait to get drivin the new wheels..

Well, I was using the ashtray as a coin container. Now - of course - a coin has slipped back behind the ashtray drawer mechanism somehow and is busy rattling about on bumpy roads and generally driving me to distraction.
The ashtray insert is easy enough to remove, but how do I remove the entire assembly to get at that ##!$! coin????
Thanks! Pezman1

I was curious to see how much driving you are all doing on your 2007 Santa Fe. I figured I'd be driving a lot, but with my new job and all I'm actually driving a lot less in general.
So let's see who drives the daylights out of their car and who barely touches them. Post the date you bought your Santa Fe and the current mileage.
Purchase Date: Dec. 2006

I have a 2008 Sante Fe with the towing packing. I know there are wires near the driver's side tire well. Should I have gotten the wiring connection to connect these wires to the trailer wires with the towing package, or do I have to purchase this connection separately?
Anyone have any thoughts on where to purchase it, other than the dealer that isn't open on weekends and is 30 miles away?

Hi, I have a 2008 Santa Fe SE that I really love. I love everything about it except for the way they have set up their 12v outlets. No key No power. I can't leave my cell phone in the car overnight to charge up. Are they worried that I will run down the battery? I am thinking of consulting an automotive electrician to see if I can get my lighter and power ports to run right off the battery. Has anybody done this out there? I don't want wires running all over under the dash, maybe creating a fire hazard. Just trying to make a great car even better. Thanks for the help.
