Ice and Snow are coming. Do you guys feel safe driving your Santa Fe?
I had a minor slip this morning when I was turning from the road to the drive way. There is a lot snow, so I force the AWD locked. But it still slipped. I don't remember the speed, but it should be very very low, maybe around 15km/hr.

Anybody know where I can get a license plate frame that does not rattle over bumps? There are only 2 screws on top of the frame, therefore the bottom half tends to rattle, or make a chinsy sound when closing the rear door.

I didn't get an Audio guide when I collected my Sante Fe, (apparently it hadn't been printed yet?) Anyway one thing that is really bugging me is that I can't skip through half a track when listening to MP3's??
On my old Pioneer MP3 headunit I used to be able to skip/seek the MP3's forward and backwards through the track by holding down the seek button, a bit like FF on a tape or CD it just jogs through to the bit of the track I want to listen to.
If I press and hold the seek button when listening to MP3's it just jumps to the next track and so on....
I have the CDX 6 disk headunit. Firstly did anyone get an audio guide? And secondly does it say you can seek through to the middle of a track as well as seek to the next track.
By the middle of a track I mean for example: track 1 is 60 minutes long, I want to get to 33 minutes in to track 1, not skip to track 2.
Am I being dumb or do I have a faulty headunit?? or (worst case!) is the headunit not capable of it??
Cheers all.

I've found that playing MP3 CDs in the player will result in skips from time to time. This does not happen on regular CDs and I've tried the same CDs in my DVD player which plays MP3 CDs. Also, if I rewind a bit to the same spot, it won't skip a second time. It seems completely random.
I think there's a defect in the player. It does this on all my MP3 CDs. Anybody experience this?

Just received and installed my bug shield today. Install consisted of 15 minutes and 6 screws into holes already drilled under hood. Shields come in both smoke and clear. Since my Santa Fe is white I chose the clear. Delivery from time of order to receipt was 3 business days.

I bought the 2007 Santa Fe 2.7 a couple weeks ago. I found some low resonating noise when stopped at red lights. It is not loud but makes you feel not comfortable. But when you shift to "N" or "P", the noise is gone and it is dealy quietly inside. I went to dealer, they said it is normal. I tested my Corrola and it does not have that kind of noise at all. Do you guys have the same problem or do you think it is normal? Thanks.

Ok I have a question. I just bought my Santa Fe on January 1st. I have noticed that when I have my heater on the air coming out the back vents is kind of cool and not hot like the air coming from the front vents. Is this normal?

Hey Guys,
I noticed the SF's fogs only turn on with the headlights and I'd like to run them with the parking lights.
Please let's not get into a debate as to what the fogs are used for and what you opinionate them as functional.
I personally think it's functional in cloudy days and what not but... anyway... anybody done this or know how?
Thanks.
Oh... and Happy New Year!

Or is it just mine? 60 - 70Mph seems to be worst affected?

Just a quick ? RE washer sprayers, first im sure most of you know already theres 3 spray holes per side, anyways i noticed on the far hole(to the left) drivers side, it seems to be pointing in a more downward direction vs pass side, hence it hits the wiper arm when you first activate it, just wondering if everyone has this, not a big deal, i was just wondering is all, thxs

I noticed the other week, i already have surface rust on rear brake part, forward of disc, (black part touching rim) only on drivers side rear, pass rear seems fine, im assuming this is because of higher traffic on drivers side w other cars ect? can everyone check theres to see simularities, guessing its the same for 18's? pic below you can see what im talking about, if eveyone else has it no biggie, but if im the only one ill have to investigate, thanks, BTW i bought Sept 19th, car is 3 months old+2days

1. They ask me to following 6000km/3mo schedule
2. For server #1 (oil change), listed price (on their wall) was $29.95. But they told me I have to pay $49.99 for 07 Santa Fe. (06 Sonata and Exxx as well). For the future service (#2 #3 #4), just add $20 on top of their listed price.
3. They want to charge an hour service if I want them to program the door lock.

Guys,
Just thought I would start a new topic as it relates to the V6 3.3L engine with FWD (in my case) vs. the previous diesel topic.
Just hit 1000km on the new SF today and my whopping fuel consumption since my last fill-up stands at:
Distance travelled: 407 Km (Mostly city except for 125km today on hway)
Amount of gas required: 62 Litres
Metric (Canada)
15.23 L/100KM Metric (Europe) 6.56 KM/L
US Gallons 15.53 MPG
Imperial Gallons 18.54 MPG
Now....how much of that can be put on the account that the car is new?

Dealers ask me to do the service (oil change, etc) every 6000km or 6months.
But actually the manual says for 3.3L engine, the schedule is 12000km or 12months.

We've gotten several Santa Fes with integrated XM this and last week. They did a real slick job with the antenna- they made the base for the conventional antenna bigger and the XM antenna is in the larger base. Radio looks the same except it has an XM button. We also have 2 or 3 with a DVD player and fold down screen- pretty nice stuff!

I just picked up my 07 Santa Fe Limited last week--I was not able to wait for the new model with XM. I would like to have an aftermarket XM radio (like a Roady or similar) installed. Is there a way a professional installation shop could hard-wire a unit to the existing Infinity radio, or is playing XM through an FM station wirelessly my only option? Notice I say "have it installed"--I don't have the expertise to tackle this myself. I can use all the advice I can get.
Also, in case anyone is interested, I got the rear seat entertainment system and discovered I can hook up my ipod through those inputs. Not ideal but it works.

I have a 2007 Santa Fe 2.7 FW. I am having a problem. When I stop in front of red lights, I can hear a kind of rumble noise noise. Even more, if I turn the to the right or left when the car is almost stationary. It is not loud, but annoying. I am not sure if it is from the engine or the muffler. If I shift the gear to N or P, it disappears completely. I went to the dealer, and as can be expected, they said it is normal because there will be a load on engine when shifted in D. But I am not convinced. My other car does not have the problem. I searched the internet and found that someone mentioned that the problem could be caused by a slightly low idle speed. I will go to the dealer next month for the first oil change. My other hope is that the problem will go away after the break-in period. One more thing that I found is that a few weeks ago, when the temperature dopped to minus 10 degrees, the rumble did disappear. That in some way confirmed the idle speed theory:).

I think I've found my first niggle with the car, I went to fit my Thule Roof mounted Bike racks and the width of the roof bars are too thick for them to fit.
I phoned Thule and they very helpfully informed me that the Thule Bike racks are only meant for Thule roofbars. Which is they're way of saying tough luck!
Well the the 591 had previously fitted my old BMW and Vauxhall roofbars! The difference being that they were both thinner aero bars.
So can anyone point me in the direction of a roofmounted bike rack that will fit the hyundai bars? In fact while your there lets add roof boxes that'll fit coz these bars are with us to stay weather we like it or not...!

Hi all,
My wife's new 3.3 GLS is making her very happy so far. She just pickedi t up on Thursday night.
We've got most of the bells and whistles firgured out however the external temp monitor just sits at 20*C all the time. It displays in the center temperaure control module.
The owner's man. shows one that can be displayed in the trip odometer but we don't seem to have that. The manual also shows the exterior temp display in the temp. control module, but does not discuss it.
I thought I'd post this question here before returning and asking the dealer because my wife didn't exactly leave there with a "warm and fuzzing" feeling.
So, I suppose first question is do we have to enable this sensor somehow?
Maybe it was "overlooked" at dealer prep and not connected, or installed?
Does anyone know where the sensor might be located? Maybe it still has somesort of protective sheath on it still that needs to be removed...this is our first vehicle with an external temp sensor so we're very naive as to their function.
Any help is greatly apprciated.

Here is a four month long term test of the 2007 Santa Fe, RAV4 and Suzuki XL7. It takes place over 4 months (starting this November) in Ottawa. This should be a good test to see how they do in the snow.

AJAC (Automobile Journalist Association of Canada) have made eligible the 2007 Santa Fe for best new car in it's class (SUV / CUV (under $35k)). The Santa Fe is going up against:
Dodge Nitro SLT
Ford Edge
Honda CR-V LX AWD
Jeep Compass North
Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 4-door
Mazda CX-7
Saturn Vue Green Line
Toyota RAV4 - V6 Sport
Results are announced November 21st. Winners of each category are then voted for best new Canadian car of the year (announced in February). I don't know if it will win the car of the year, but every review I've read has the journalist stating that they are voting for the Santa Fe for best in it's category.

Just thought I'd let you all know that The 2006 Santa Fe is in this months What car Magazine again, This time it's slugging it out against the new Freelander, X-Trail and the RAV4.
On the whole the review is pretty good, but YET agin Residual value is one of the main down sides of ownership for the Sante Fe!!!
How can this be? I for one would like to know HOW industry pundits have come to the residual figure of 40% after 3yrs + 36K !!!!! When apparently it's competitors were all around the 50 - 55% mark!!
I am sure there must be some sort of vandetta against this car for figures that low to be produced already?? and as is always the case if people keep talking about it I'm sure it will happen!! This is a truely non-reflective figure given the seachange in Hyundai that is the new Sante fe.
on the positive side, the santy came a credible 2nd!! which is is almost ironic, how can a car this good lose so much money residually and still come second in a shootout with these cars....go figure??
Well done hyundai

Hi Again all,
Just curious to see just how much the Hyundai Dealers in the UK are prepared to bend?
I got my 7 seat CDX in gun metal with Privacy glass and reverse sensors for £21,350 (list price was £25,342) after some pretty hard bartering with the dealer near to my work, (p.m. me if you wanna know which dealer as I was really impressed with their service) Before I decided to buy the car they just handed me the keys to the demo unit and said "bring it back when your done!!" So after two days of running it up and down the motorway and taking it off road I was absolutely certain this was the car for me and my family.
However, in complete contrast, my local (to home) dealer didn't even let me take one for a test drive (shame on them!) I guess they didn't think I could afford it...!! hehe!
They claimed the car could sell itself on a five minute test drive!! How short sighted.
Anyway, here I am after owning my brand new 2.2 CDX after 2 weeks which obviously I didn't buy from my local (to home) dealer..!! wondering if the deal I got was any good? I feel satisfied with it, but has anyone done any better? apparently discounts are quite hard to come by on this model at the mo??
Over to you guys...
Cheers

Well, next Saturday I pick up my first Hyundai. A 2007 Santa Fe GLS(Canadian version of the Limited) in Golden Beige with Beige leather interior. I've researched similar models for months and short-listed it to the Santa Fe, RAV4 Limited V6, and the Acura RDX.
The feature set of all is very similar. It all came down to paying for the name, or saving a LOT of money and getting the best value. There was no contest. The Santa Fe(with 0% interest for 3 years) was by far the best value, add in a great trade-in value(2000 above blue book) for my 01 RAV4, and the friendly no-pressure salesman and that was it. Also, they gave me the side step bars and windshield deflector for free in exchange for giving them my winter tires for the RAV. Wow!
Looking forward to picking it up! Well done, Hyundai!

Hi everyone, new member, first post. I seriouly want to purchase a Santa Fe next fall. Have been reading this forum everyday for the last month trying to gather info. Seems like every review I read on the internet is pretty positive for the Santa Fe, have read a couple of bad ones but 9 out of 10 say that the Santa Fe is a great vehicle. And from what I'm reading here most of you agree. Just a few questions.
The Santa Fe is supposed to get satelitte radio, however will it also get a jack for Ipod, etc?
From what I see on pictures the back seat doesn't fold completely flat, could you pitch a sleeping bag and sleep back there?
Is anyone getting close to 31 MPG (Canada) on the highway?
Is the front driver's seat comfortable?
How does the AWD handle in the snow?
I'm interested in a AWD 5 passenger, what kind of prices have you guys been paying for this in Canada?
I'll thank you guys in advance.
Look forward to talking to everyone now and once I buy my Santa Fe.
I think that this the the vehicle for me.

Hi All,
New to forums, Just thought I'd ask if anyone has managed to install a Parrot handfree kit yet?
If so does the stereo need an adapter to fit it as I'd rather not have to chop any of the internal electrics?
Also I don't suppose anyone has any pics of how they managed to route and mount the cables / LCD screen?
Also while I'm here, I'm looking for a solution to resolve the lack of traffic info via the stereo, Can anyone recomend a cheap sat-nav with built in Traffic updates?
I am not keen on using GPS, I prefer maps and common sense so don't want to spend a fortune.
How much am I loving this car, using the lamest excuses to get away from the kids to drive it...
Thanks all

Hello Everyone,
My name is David Dickson. I'm VP of SA Alpine Developments. We make Supercharger systems for many makes and models including the 2.7L engine found in the base model 07 Santa Fe. These are proven to increase performance as well as fuel economy on the 2.7L model.
I'm very excited to announce that we have purchased a brand new Deepwater Blue Santa Fe with the 3.3L V6 Engine. We plan on developing a bolt-on Supercharger and Turbocharger system for this engine as well as a wire-in Unichip piggyback ECU system that will give us complete control of fuel and timing on the SantaFe.
Our short-term goal is to unlock all the hidden potential of the normally aspirated 3.3L engine. Future goals include the development of the turbo and supercharger system.
If anyone is interested in our products you can go to our website or email me at alpinetech@alpine-developments.us. In the meantime I'll continue to update this thread with the results of the Unichip install as I have them.
Thanks for your time and stay tuned for mo powa!
