Hi All,
I'm now on 7k miles in my 2.2CRTD Santa Fe. All miles so far have been comfortable, and trouble free.
However over the last few days I have noticed a clicking noise coming from the front wheels when any stress is applied to them i.e. when pulling away or turning sharply at slow speeds, breaking etc. It sounds like a previous car where the wheel bearing/CV joint were both failing.
Anyone else have this clicking noise distinctly from the front, maybe wheels or possible engine mount?
Obviously a service is due in 3K so I will have it looked at then but any advice would be appreciated.

Hi to all...
I never though I would buy a Hyundai SVU. But last week I bought a 2007 Santa Fe.
I have been looking, researching, talking, driving more looking at all the mid-size SUV for a long time. Last time I looked at the Santa Fe, the "old" body style.
I returned to my local Hyundai dealer and saw the "new" body style and it was almost love at first sight.
After a 3 hr. test drive in a SE I was sure that's the vehicle I wanted.
As I mentioned, I looked at all the other, CRV, Jeep compass, Rave4, 4Runner, Highlander, Ford Excape, Merc. Mariner, Madza CR7, etc.....
The '07 Santa Fe impressed me the most for style and equipment that comes standard and price.
The SE nice, but my wife suggested we kick it up a notch and get the Limited, which we did. Good woman!
I only have 250 miles on the clock, but will be driving from the San Diego, CA are to Phoenix, AZ Thurs.
That will be a good road test as to how good of a ride the Santa Fe is.
I'll report on that.
Glad I found this fourm. I have already learned things about the Santa Fe. Thanks...
Nick

For those of you who have the Shiftronic feature do you use it?
My friend has something similar in his Dodge Charger and he's only used it twice. At first I thought it was just a gimmic, but I've been using it more and more when I'm driving alone in the city - it makes the drive more fun. For some reason my wife hates it when I use it.
Any thoughts as to whether or not it would make much a difference in improving mileage like a true manual vs. an automatic?

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced that the 2007 model year Hyundai Santa Fe has received five stars in front and side crash tests, the highest government rating under the agency’s New Car Assessment Program. (Note: Of the 24 cars earning five star crash test safety for front and side impact, none earned five stars for rollover resistance.)
NHTSA crash test resultsThe Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave the 2007 its highest rating for Frontal offset test results. No test has been done yet for side or rear impact.

Hi all, new to this forum and greetings from Australia. Thinking of buying the new Hyundai Santa Fe diesel.
Need to be able to tow a caravan at a later date somewhere in the order of 1600Kg
Anyone on here who has used the Santa Fe for towing?
Cheers

I'm kind of confused about the passenger airbag sensor on my 2007 Santa Fe. It seems like it has a hard time detecting when someone is sitting in the passenger seat. Often my girlfriend will get in and the Pass Air Bag OFF light will stay on after she sits down. Sometimes the OFF light turns off (airbag is on) and then goes off again even though she's still in the seat. Sometimes if she re-adjusts or moves a bit, the airbag turns on. The manual is pretty useless (it says if someone sits properly in the front seat and the OFF light stays lit, have the passenger move to the backseat... yeah right).
Has anyone else had any trouble with the air bag staying off when a passenger is in the seat?
Is there any way to force it to always be on? (I never have kids ride in it anyway)

I have a 2007 GLS Santa Fe with every option available. I have a concern about the temp indicator that is located along with the "trip" information on the dash. If I toggle through the displays, I get Trip odometer, average fuel mileage and miles remaining on the tank of gas - and occasionally I get the outside air temp too - but it is rarely correct - and it only appears every once in a while. My question is:
1) Should the temperature even show up since I don't have the automatic climate control?
I know there are issues with the temperature reading incorrectly - but mine not only shows the incorrect temperature - it only shows up every once in a while! Maybe they are related due to the known bad temp sensor issue?
I am taking my Santa Fe in for its first oil change on the 19th and I plan on addressing this issue with the SM - I just wanted to see if anyone else had ever seen this so I would be better informed.

I have read elsewhere that high cost maintenance is required on the Lambda engine each 60K as it does not have hydraulic lifters. Anyone know the approximate cost in US dollars for the maintenance.

We just returned for a 905 mile trip from the San Diego, CA area to Phoenix, AZ and back.
Our 2007 Santa Fe, Limited had about 300 miles on the clock when we left for Arizona.
For those who are not familiar with the area, one way is relatively flat. The other was required driving over a 4,300 feet mountain.
We drove the flat route to Phoenix. In California we cruised along about 70 mph. I was getting 24 to 26 mpg. No problems passing, pulling hills. The V-6 moved us along as fast as I wanted.
All the gadgets worked flawlessly. We stopped only once for gas just across the boarder in Arizona. The ride was so comfortable we didn't had a need to stop and walk around to get the kinks out.
In Arizona the speed limit is 75 mph., so.. I kicked it up to 80/85. No problem and I was getting about 23/24 mpg.
Along with visiting our son in Arizona, we did some geocaching. ?Geocaching .. what's that you ask... go to: www.geocaching.com
It's like a treasure hunt.
After Phoenix, AZ was drove to Yuma, AZ to attend a geocaching event.
We spent two days in Yuma looking for caches. All city driving during this time, I was getting about 20 mpg. Still no problems, everything worked as it should.
Coming home we were bucking a strong head wind, I was getting 22/23 mpg.
We came home over the mountains which was 4,300 feet. Up the mountain and facing a strong head wind the mileage dropped to 16/17 going about 60+ mph.
Once over and down the mountain mileage went back to the 20's.
I found the Santa Fe had plenty of power. Comfortable enough where we could ride a couple of hours with no aches or pain. Little road noise and a very easy vehicle to drive both highway and in the city.
I could go on and on.. but I think you get the idea..
The Santa Fe worked great.

I just took delivery of my black on black 7 passenger limited. I had to order it and noticed this weekend that only the right side (small) 2nd row seat tumbles forward to get into the 3rd row seats. The left side seat doesn’t have the handle under the seat to allow it to pivot forward. It folds flat but that is it. I think I remember the other 7 passenger units that I test drove both sides flipped forward. It was a 6 week wait so I may not be correct. I am going to call the dealer but I thought I would ask. Are both 2nd row seats suppose to tumble forward. I am wondering if they installed a seat for a 5 passenger on that side.

Hello everyone,
After reading tons of posts here and realizing that most of you are having 3.3L.... am I the only one who got the 2.7L manual? Anyone else tried the manual? let give some thoughts on it.
Personally I liked the 5 spd very much, aside from the fact that I've driven with manuals for 18 years, my SF has a surprisely smooth gearbox.... tight fit and smoothness is what impresses me the most.
On the other hand, the very slow throttle response is quite a turn-off.... especially going from 1st to 2nd gear... I literally had to "stop-and-wait" for the rev to come down before engauging the clutch.
On the plus side, how else could I do 10L/100km driving?

Hi,
I have a new 2007 Santa Fe CRDI CDX+7, it has the climate control, can anyone tell me if when there's is on auto climate control does it automatically put on the air-con when the windows start to steam up or do you have to manually press the front demist button, I had a Santa Fe on loan until mine was delivered and Im sure it demisted the windows automatically, but the new one doesn't. Just wondered before I took it back to the dealer for checks.
All the best.

Check out the four day blog on the Canadian Driver website on the Santa Fe. They've already done a 4-day blog on the RAV4 and Suzuki XL7. In the end they are going to be doing a long term side-by-side review of these three vehicles.

Hi Everyone,
Just wanted to say this looks like a great forum. Easy place to look for help and give it when able.
I have a 2007 Santa Fe Limited AWD for about 2 weeks now. I love the car and everything has seemed great until today. I noticed when coming home tonight that the outside temerature displayed 68 degrees when it actually was approximately 12 degrees at the time here in NJ. I plan to call Hyundai about this, but was hoping that some of you may know of a quick fix for this problem before I do. The car is brand spanking new and under warranty, so I am not worried, but it is more of an annoyance than anything else.
Thank you in advance for whatever help you may be able to provide.
Pete

I had registered on "My Hyundai" from www.hyundaiusa.com hoping that Hyundai would have useful information / service offers / reminders etc.. and found that since Oct 2006 almost nothing has changed on it.
There is a link that is supposed to show the on-line manual and it does not work. I reported this problem to Hyundai via phone in Nov and nothing has been done to fix it. I also e-mailed their Consumer affairs and I got a courtesy call, but the link to the On-line manual is still not fixed.
Also there is a link to show your maintenance schedule and the schedule that is shows is for Santa Fe 2006 model and not 2007.
I think that Hyundai MUST pay attention to its existing owners if they want to continue to get good ratings and feedback. I don't think they realize that the existing owners contribute significantly towards their new sales....

Today, I noticed some clicking noise during turns when signal is on. I am not talking about the sound from the turn signal, but some other clicks from turning the wheel. If you make turns without the signal, then no noise at all.
Wondering if it's new or it's always there but I just noticed today.

I'm planning on getting a 2007 Santa Fe this weekend but wanted to see if any current owners had found a method to connect an Ipod to the factory installed stereo. I know it plays mp3 cds but ipod is more convenient for me. Also, I know FM modulation is an option but I've tried it and it doesn't work well where I live. Any possibility of an aux in on the back of the stereo? Any aftermarket solutions?
On another topic, I'm looking at the SE FWD with no options. Without any haggling they offered invoice - 1000 rebate so around $20990. Anyone here have an SE FWD to compare that price with?
Thanks for any help guys.

Thought I'd ask what the general opinion is of Hyundai in your native countries? I have to admit that I bought this car purely on looks and practicality without a real concern for the brand image.
I previously owned the Skoda Octavia VRS so I am not afraid of being shunned by the masses for having an inferior brand. If the car is good,I'll buy it. When I first bought the Vrs it was a gamble that paid off with regard to residual, I strongly feel that in the new Santa fe Hyundai have the same chance of pulling off a surprise.
With that siad, I would rate Hyundai as still haing quite a lot to do with regard to brand desirability here in the UK. I would put them on the bottom end of the badge snobs list with not too many lower on the current list.
This is obviously a bit of a worry with regard to our residuals, but as I said, a car this good surely can't lose that much, but whats it like where you live....?
Do hyundai have brand cred in your country?

There have been a lot of great tips and tricks posted in this forum, but they are spread all over the place and can be hard for new people to find. I thought we could use this post to put all our finds in one spot. Here are the existing ones I could find:
Auto Lock – you can have your dealer program your doors to lock automatically once the car hits 20km/h or 12mph
License Plate Rattle – to keep your rear plate from rattling when you close the hatch remove the plate and use double sided tape and attach a sponge or put a layer of silicone on the back of the plate.
Wiper fluid nozzle adjustment – very carefully put a pin in a nozzle to re-direct the aim of each individual nozzle.
Rear Wiper – The rear wiper will go into an intermittent wipe once it does three full steady wipes
Easy Radio Turn On – Sound system will turn on if you hit the AM, FM1, FM2 or CD button
CD Track Scan - scan forward and backward through individual CD and MP3 tracks using the ">>" and "<<" buttons below the 1 and 2 buttons.
Plus I just discovered this one today while sitting in the car:
Radio Controls – The radio pre-set channel control on the steering wheel can also be used to seek (hold down the up or down button for about 2 seconds and it will search for the next station with a signal) and search (hold down the up or down button and the radio dial will fast forward/reverse until you let go).

I tried mine today and it blew a fuse. I checked and I plugged in something that was over the 150 watts, opps! I changed the 30 amp fuse and now the fuse blows as soon as I press the power button near the heated seats. (nothing plugged in the inverter) What could it be? Could I have fried the inverter? The fuse would be the 1st thing to go so I have no idea.

The new 2007 Canadian CarGuide Buyers Guide has hit the stands and it's a Santa Fe love fest! There are three very positive articles in there on the 2007 Santa Fe
1. Comprehensive road test with 6 "real" couples working with CarGuide journalists taking the Santa Fe through all the paces.
2. Short article on the US designer of the 2007 Santa Fe
3. Short article on the extensive safety features in the Santa Fe (and Entourage).
Well worth the $7.

Just got my 20" Drive wheels about 500 miles ago. I get compliments and think they are beautiful but thinking of stepping up to the uncomfortable 22" wheels. Before I post on Craigs was just wondering if any of you would be interested since they are made to fit the 07 Santa Fe. Wheels are made by a quality company "MHT Wheels". They are the Driv Royale wheels. 20x8.5 and I have the new Nitto NT420's on em. To be honest I was surprised how well they ride for being 20's. Anyway, if interested please let me know. I paid $2600 and bought them through Big "O" tires. Looking to get $2000 for them. Very very little wear and rims are in perfect condition. Here is a closeup and you can go to the MHT site if you want to see an even closer picture. Also, these do have the factory TPS system installed. Let me know.

I just purchased a 2007 Santa Fe SE.
When the vehicle is RUNNING, the small screen in the speedometer gauge is blue and displays the odometer and one of the other functions (e.g., outside temperature, range, fuel usage, etc.).
When the vehicle is OFF, the small screen is gray and clearly displays the odometer and the outside temperature (regardless of what was shown when it was RUNNING).
Is this a problem or is it supposed to be this way?
I had a 1999 Chrysler Sebring and a 2003 Mazda Miata. Both of these cars had electronic odometers and displayed readings only when ON or RUNNING. Their displays were blank when the car was OFF.
This is really a great site/resource.
In advance, thanks much for your information.

My wife had a little 'incident' with the Santa Fe this AM... damage does not look so bad.
The front bumper cover is broken, the headlight lens is cracked and the fender is shot. there appears to be no structural damage, although the radiator support bracket is also cracked (under)
Any guesses at how much to fix??
This will make you sick.
