I am so disapointed with Hyundai in general that I will not be buying another for the rest of my life.
We were recently offered $11,000 for our 2007 Entourage by the company the most desperate to sell cars right now. Toyota.
6 months ago Hyundai and the sales guy we bought it from offered us only $5,000 more for it. Not much better. Great vehicle. Poor service at my dealer with a minimum 3 visits to have anything fixed. Some as much as 6 times. Right now it runs great and we seem to finnally got the bugs worked out.
We need a cheaper payment due to many reasons and it is a sad state of affairs when you cannot at least come close to getting what we need for it.
Reasons for such poor value started with the release if you remember... the ads were for the Entourage only here in Canada with no mention of the Sedona release. An inflated introductory price to entice higher-end buyers (suckers). Options not being offered on Kia models to be released later which was bull. They were over confident with the projected resale value expecting it to be close to a Toyota or Honda. I traded a 2001 Toyota Rav4 on this and they gave me $13,000 for a 5 year old vehicle. Sold it for $16,000. My van has less Kms on it, more safety, more luxury etc and is only 3 yrs old and is worth nothing.
In my purchase agreement they included a promise of a "guaranteed trade-in value" of $12,900 next September if we buy another Hyundai (like that will happen) and we will still owe $19,000 leaving us with a big short-fall.
You won't fool me again Hyundai on any vehicle.
Don't buy Hyundai......go with your gut and get a Honda!
M.

SOUTHTOWN HYUNDAI IN EDMONTON ALBERTA CANADA
In 2005 I purchased a Santa Fe. I had a few problems with the vehicle over the 2 years - not a big deal except everytime went to get the problems fixed they tried to make like it was my fault. First the cd/mp3 player wouldn't work properly. Tried to tell me it was because I was playing burned CD's in it and this would void the warrant. At first I left, b ut after I thought about it; HOW ELSE WOULD YOU PLAY MP3'S ON IT? Without warning a passenger door went out of alignment and when it was opened the moulding damaged. I was told that I must have let the wind blow the door open and that's why the door went out of alignment so it wouldn't be covered by the warranty. These are just a couple of examples.
Fast forward to 2007 and a 3rd child on the way and we needed to get a larger vehicle. We decided to give Hyundai another chance only this time we would go to a different dealer. We started to negotiate a deal and ironically out of the blue got a call from a salesperson from the original dealer where we bought our Santa Fe. This new salesperson said the dealership is under new ownership and wanted to contact all of their old customers and see if they were interested in trading or buying another vehicle. I expressed my dissatisfaction with my experience at Southtown Hyundai and the salesperson said give us a chance to make it up to you.
Unfortunately, I decided to give him the opportunity. Many promises were made and broken, but the one that upsets me the most was that we had agreed that if I bought the vehicle they would install a Hyundai DVD player at cost. They proceeded to charge me $1000 it retails for $1149. I let this go, but when I dropped it off to have it installed (almost 2months after I bought it) they put in a cheap, no name DVD Player from Visions Electronics. If that wasn't enough it is so noisy in the wireless head phones that my kids can't listen to it. I immediately complained to my salesperson; the same one who said if there were ever any issues he would personally take care of me. He told me he would take care of it. Another month goes by and nothing, not even a call. I use my vehicle primarily for work and I am very busy. I live 80 kilometres away from the dealership so it is not easy for me to get there all the time.
I casually dropped by to make an appointment for an oil change and talk to the salesman about it and he passed me onto a "manager" who comes out to the vehicle, listens to it and agrees "the DVD Player is garbage." The manager tells me to bring it in the following Monday get my oil change and they will take it back to Visions to get it fixed. I asked him why they didn't put in a Hyundai DVD player he said "This one is better." So I take it in for my oil change that Monday and the "manager" was not there and nobody knew anything about it. So I got my oil changed and decided to mention it to the sevice manager and he said he would pass it up to the General Manager and have him call me. Again no call. Long story short I have had the vehicle (which I love) since Dec 2007 with a brutal DVD player that I overpaid for since the end of Jan2008 and it is now July 2008. I have been to the dealership several times and always get some run around; "we will call you back"; "I can't authorize that solution"; "that manager doesn't work here anymore".
My salesperson who was going to "look after me personally" has passed me off to someone else because "his hands are tied". Well today I was told very arrogantly and smugly that unless I can produce a Bill of Sale with "Hyundai" DVD player written on it that I would only get a repair IF Visions will repair it. I am furious, and embarassed. I allowed myself to be fooled into believing this dealership had any stitch of integrity. I urge you not to do the same. There are several people in the Edmonton area who have had similar problems. I would recommend going to another dealership in the area. If you do a deal with Southtown get EVERYTHING IN WRITING. This is just some of many things that they have done to demonstrate a complete lack of integrity.
Can anyone suggest a way to get a resolution? I am at my wits end. I have been honest, fair, and accountable. They want me to bring it in AGAIN on Friday so there "technicians can listen to it" for the 3rd time. I am a very patient and professional person, but I have had it with this dealership. Stay away from SOUTHTOWN HYUNDAI

I just read a post about a problem with the timing chain tensioner - causing some noises at startup. After reading the latest TSB on that, 08-EM-001-1, it doesn't seem to be what I'm experiencing.
I'm having a problem at startup in the mornings, but it appears to be directly related to the fan being on in the vehicle...if I don't have that running when it's started in the morning, I don't hear the noise.
It sounds like a grinding noise and it loud enough to be heard inside the van with the door closed, with radio on, with 2 screaming kids in there. It lasts about 1.5 seconds but it sounds like the **** engine is eating itself. I wish I could describe it a bit better.
Anyone out there have this similar issue?
I've got an '08 Limited.

I tried the search engine and got nothing. I bought a new keyfob online and it didn't come with instructions. I found a site a few weeks ago with em but can't find it anymore. I don't have a dealer anywhere near me to supposedly program it for free. Anyone know where I can find them at? I have done it with my other cars so its not hard. thanks.

Hi all - I have recently bought a 2007 Entourage Limited edition
The van is great however after every time it rains, the rear passenger seat belt is soaking wet. There does not seem to be any other leak. I have been to the dealer who has said that water leaks are not covered under warranty
Does anyone have any ideas what may be causing this ? or heard similar story?
Thanks

So I have an XG300L that I have had since 2001 and the warranty is about up.
I love the car but it's record of going back to the shop is ridiculous. As a matter of fact it is in the shop right now as we speak for the 21st time....
I have not counted any of the wear and tear stuff either, anyway, I still love the car but once the warranty is gone it will nickel and dime me to death....
So I looking for something different this time around, thought maybe a minivan...
Any thoughts on how good they are, gas mileage , etc etc
Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

I had just put a set of Blizzaks on the van using 16" steel wheels obtained on Ebay and now I've ordered a set of Kumho tires to replace the Michelins that came stock on the 17" alloys.
The originals that were on the front are down to the wear bars with only 25K miles on them. At least now that I've got summer / winter sets........ they'll get rotated regularly.

Hey everyone-
Total newbie to the forum, so my apologies if this has been addressed already elsewhere. I've owned a few vehicles with ABS and Traction Control. My '08 Entourage has these (I believe) but man alive they sound like death! The best word I can describe the sound that these features emit is "crunching". It sounds like there is an elf in the wheel well using a crow bar to stop the wheel "spokes" when braking or taking off and slip is detected.
Is this normal? I've never heard Traction Control or ABS sound so bad.
Thanks!

I'm on a roll today. '08 Limited Entourage
We have the power button engaged, so when we start to open the tailgate the motor takes over and finished the job. The problem is that right at the very top of the opening process, it's like the hydraulics give out and the rear door slams open! It's only about the last 2 inches, but it certainly isn't graceful.
Is anyone else having this problem?

I few months ago, I purchased the brand new Entourage. I did so because I owned a Santa Fe and loved it, plus I like the warrenty that Hyundai offers.
About a thousand miles in with the new van, I noticed that I was not getting the gas mileage that was advertised (18-25). I am getting significantly less, in between 12 - 14. I get 12 when the air conditioning is running and 14 when it is not. I drive very noramlly and am very easy on cars. 75% of my driving is also done at speeds between 45-65 with little stopping in between.
I shared my concerns with the dealer and they ran some tests on my car and said everything is normal. I was unhappy with this response because at the very least, i sould be getting the very bottom end of 18 per gallon. the 800 number people said that wait until about 3500 miles, then the car will be "broken in" and I will see a jump in gas mileage. I can see this effecting 1 or 2 MPG, but 10 MPG, I just don't see how that is possible.
My question to you all is, has anyone had a similiar problem with their Hyundai, specifically an Entourage. And what type of gas mileage are you getting in your Entourage.
Thanks.

Hello
I read the post that they Entourage is no more, I am not surprised at all. If the majority of purchasers had the same problems as me I can understand. I am beyond frustrated with this van, problem after problem. Ours has 28,000 KM. and I estimate I have had the thing into the shop at least once a month. I have contacted head office numerous times and they do nothing. They are terrible service and I will never buy one again. Anyone looking at this vehicle should not consider it. Way to many problems, where do I start, at 10000k I had a new transmission put in, I have had it over 7 times into the dealer for oil leaks and in fact it has wrecked my $8000 colored concrete driveway. The engine has been in several times for loud noises and shaking, the vehicle has been in for several computer resets as lights go on the dash and won't turn off. I has been in for the temp gauge not working and I have had the DVD replaced. (not to mention the new DVD audio is terrible)
Just to all do not buy this van! If you have any suggestions on what I can do with my issues let me know pls. It would seem they got my $40,000 and do not care to help me.
thanks
jim

Our 2007 Entourage with 26k miles now has rattles that sound like the struts are loose. I've checked and they really aren't.
I was told by a local car dealer that struts often bottom out because they are structured to hold the car up...... not keep it down....so after time the strut just rattles ......... Anyone have input?

I went to my dealer yesterday to get a fuel filter replaced, since the maintenance log says it was due at 37,500 miles. I normally go to Jiffy Lube for maintenance, but they said they couldn't since the fuel filter is in the gas tank. Anyway, My dealer said that they didn't have filter in stock, but not to worry as it was not required until 100,000 miles.
Another question, they didn't seem to know anything about the fuel tank air filter which was to be replaced at around 22,000 miles the first time I went in-- at that time they didn't know what it was. This time they said they didn't have it in stock, but wouldn't need it until 100,000 miles. Anybody know the REAL story??
The service order they gave me said Customer refused service (for fuel filter(S)). When I complained they wrote on my copy in pen saying that service was not needed until 100,000 miles, but it wasn't on their computer files.

Can anyone tell me where the Evap Canister is located on a 2007 Entourage. I have an engine code coming up that says something about a vent valve close malfunction. This is the second time since ive owned it.. Previously i took it to the dealer 60 miles away and they said it was a filter of some sort that was clogged with dirt and mud.. Of the 60000 miles I have on this van, an estimated 15K is on gravel roads.. They said it was the dust from the gravel roads that caused the problem. I would like to see if this is something I can fix myself.

I have an 07 Entourage that has developed a water problem. After it rains, the carpet and padding in the well into which the rear seats fold gets a lot of moisture to the point of being wet to the touch. After first noticing this I also noted that the rubber boot (for power for the rear wiper motor) on the top of the hatch had dislodged; I put it back into pplace and thought I had found the culprit. However, today again notice moisture; boot still in place so this time I removed and cleaned under weatherstrip seal at top and somewhat down the sides of the hatch opening (some accumulated dirt there it seems; also cleaned some debris (dirt and smal leaves) that had lodged between hatch lift brackets and the rubber weatherseal).
Anyone else experienced this problem with an Entourage or other van? Am I looking at the right place i.e. could problem be a leak in undercarriage? I've had the van since Aug 06 now at ~33k miles; is this a warranty fix?
Oh one last bit of info, water is entering vehicle without it being driven in rain, etc; so I don't think it's a hole or leakage from uinderneath. Also vehicle has driven almost exclusive on paved road so lss chance of rock impact or whatever from below
Thanks in advance for any any assistance
Happy holidays
By the way have had this thing since new and have had some minor issues (seat belt height adjusters locking up; remotes going dead (both)) but overall a pleasure to own and operate.

Has anyone with an 07 Entourage had a problem with their electric sliding side doors? Mine recently started to not close when told to do so.
What happens is when the door is told to close (via remote or any other door button, or external handle) the door attempts to close, closes, clicks a couple of times, then automatically opens back up again.
It is now to the point that when this happens (does not happen every single time) it takes anywhere from 5 - 10 attempts to get the door to close and stay closed.
- Anyone have this problem as well?
...and yes I have taken it back to the dealership, but like everything else, it wont do it while they have it, so they cant fix it

I just bought one of the "Georgia Dealer out of business auction" cars from a local dealer for $20,770 (MSRP $31,515). Out the door for $22,900 after TLS. It had 71 miles on it (68 before my test drive) and is certified pre-owned.
Power doors, backup sensors, solar glass, privacy (tinted) glass, 11 speaker Infinity system/DVD, auto headlights, roof crossbars, floor mats, cargo net, 17" Alloy wheels, etc.
Pretty much a fully loaded GLS minus the Bluetooth and First Aid Kit
I checked the roof for hail damage and don't see any. So if there was, they did a good job fixing it. So far so good.
Anyone else buy one of these? Just curious on what other have paid.
I'm thinking of installing a backup camera. It seems pretty simple. Has anyone done this yet?

Hi all...
I've search the internet to no avail, so here I am.
I bought a wrecked 2007 Hyundai Entourage Limited for my wife....has 4,800 miles on it. It was hit in the front, bought a complete used front end
off another 2007 Entourage, but it wasn't a "Limited". Besides not having fog lights, everything else was the same. However, there is one sensor
that was on my Limited the the Base model front didn't have.
I don't have the old sensor as the radiator support was already stripped and tossed in the trash. The only information I have is that it has two wires
going to it...an orange one and a yellow one. It mounts down towards the bottom of the radiator support, I "think" on the center support bar.
It must have something to do with an option the Limited has that the Base does not. The van is fixed and everything "seems" to be working fine.
Can anybody tell me what this sensor would be?? Anybody with a Limited Entourage care to take a look and see if there is possibly a part number on theirs?
ANY help would be GREATLY appreciated.
Please save the lecture on wrecked vehicles....I've bought and driven dozens of them. This was drilled and spot welded at the factory seems, first rate job, not hacked up. I'm into a 2007 Entourage Limited with less than 5,000 miles, loaded with leather, dvd, heated seats, etc for just over $10,000.

Hi Canadians,
Just moving to Winnipeg.MB in time for your winter!
Have been told countless times"You are going to need a block heater!" Can any one tell me the Hyundai part number for a 2007 Entourage SE please? Are they difficult to fit if I do it myself?
If any of the Entourage owners out there with the Block Heater already fitted, I would be gratefull if you could describe or send a picture where exactly the device is installed on the block.
Also not quite so urgent is the question of installing daylight running lights , this I will need to do when I finally settle here in 5/6 months.
Appreciate any help 7 advice for equiping / preparing this vehicle for it's future life in Manitoba.
Many Thanks

Well Friday night we packed up the kids in my wifes 2006 Hyundai Santa Fe and began our road trip out to Pittsburgh. We decided to stay in a little town called Bedford which is about a 3 1/2 hour drive from our house. Between a late start and the numerous downpours we didn't get into Bedford until about 11:30pm Friday. Saturday morning was a much easier 1 1/2 hour drive to the dealership and everything went smoothly. It was by far the easiest, most satisfying experience ever at a dealership. We got the Entourage from Power of Bowser outside Pittsburgh (and so far they get two thumbs up from me). Then after signing on the dotted line, we took our new (used) 2008 Entourage up to the Children's museum of Pittsburgh where our kids had a great time. After the museum we went to the Hard Rock cafe for dinner, where we felt a little out of place because almost everyone was wearing Steelers jerseys (and we're big Eagles fans). Apparently there was a preseason game Saturday night. After dinner, we started our 2 hour drive back to the hotel and sat up and watched a movie in the room. Then Sunday morning we got up and drove past Fort Bedford and Old Bedford Village. After that we took a little drive to a spot called Gravity Hill. Its this little country road where water runs up hill and if you put your car in neutral it rolls uphill. It was pretty crazy. Both my wife and I felt a little weird standing there. Definitely something weird is going on there. Then we took a 1 1/2 hour drive north to go see Penns Cave. We took a nice boat ride tour through the cave. After that we started our 3 1/2 hour ride back home. Overall it was a fun road trip and the van handled and drove great. It was definitely a pleasure to drive!
Now a little more about the Entourage. It is a 2008 Entourage Limited with the DVD/sunroof package. The color is Green Meadow Gray with the gray leather interior. We have dual power sliding doors, a power rear tailgate, backup warning sensors, Infinity stereo system, dual automatic climate control for the front (which is great cuz I'm always hot and my wife is cold), separate rear temp controls that we can either control or switch to let the kids adjust when they get a little older, heated seats, dvd player, sunroof, alloy wheels, power pedals, mirrors and seats with memory settings, etc. Basically everything and then some! It technically has a used title as it was sold at auction from a dealership that went out of business in Georgia. However, since it is a certified pre-owned model, we still get the powertrain coverage to 100k miles. It had 200 miles on it when we picked it up and now has a couple hundred more after our roadtrip. My only complaint is that I already miss driving it! Well here are some pics of the road trip and various stops along the way!

Are there any other Entourage owners out there that are having a water leak problem? I have water from rain, leaking in around the front overhead console. It was actually dripping. It has dried up now and the van is at the dealership today to be examined. Thank goodness I took photos as it dried up and looks like it never happened.

My wife was all excited about the cool blue light behind the speedo shown in any picture of the entourage dash board.
when we were driving home inour 2008 Limited, it was all light green..

I have been getting a very annoying whistling noise inside my 07 Entourage. It sounds like blowing across the top of a bottle, amplified.
Here are the conditions:
Outside temp around 80 degrees F or higher
Speed around or over 60-70 mph
And add a crosswind of any type and it starts.
I have no roo rack cross bars, and trust me, we've checked the windows are up and there is no damage to any of the weatherstripping that is visible.
Anyone else had this or heard of this?
Trying to come up with a fix.

If any of you are strongly considering purchasing a left over 2008 Hyundai Entourage Limited..
MSRP was 33,700 and we got it out for 25k plus we traded in our old Pontiac minivan for 4500 so we financed 20,500 plus tax, title, fees, etc etc.
but I mean 10k off MSRP is awesome.. I have seen some for sale 2008's with 15k miles for more than what we paid for and ours had 9 miles..Yes 9 miles..
SouthPacific blue
grey leather
DVD
Surround Sound Infinity
Power evreything including rear tailgate
17"wheels,
fog lights
Wife loves it and I actually enjoyed driving it...
Shoot me an email if you want details... bmw.mtechnic@yahoo.com
I will post pics tonight..

Well, with our third child on the way, it is time to upgrade to a van. All 3 will still be in car seats, so its next to impossible to get the three car seats across one row (ages once the baby comes will be 7, 3, and then a newborn). We went out looking yesterday and checked out the Odyssey (we test drove a new EX-L model), Sienna (surprisingly the Toyota dealership only had one new and one used) and a 2008 Entourage limited w/ the DVD that the Toyota dealership had used. The Odyssey seemed nice, though a new one is more than we are willing to pay right now for what we want. We didn't take out a Sienna on a test drive, but the interior on the used one they had just didn't do anything for me or my wife. We might take another look at the specific model we're considering (LE w/ the premium extra value package 3). Then we took a look at the Entourage Limited. It was cranberry red with beige leather interior. I must say both my wife and I were quite impressed. The interior is absolutely fantastic. We both prefer the exterior design of the Odyssey and Sienna better, but certainly not enough to justify the additional cost. We talked numbers, but we really weren't ready to buy one yesterday, plus they didn't seem too willing to negotiate. I told them I could pick up a new one for close to the price they were asking. Well anyways, we got home and did some looking and found several 2007 Entourage's with between 35-40k miles. One dealership near us has about 6 available so I think we're going to go check them out. At this point I think we are pretty set on getting a limited with beige interior. There are a couple exterior colors we'd consider (black, sonora gold, or cranberry red).
Well anyways, looks like we should be able to pick up a used 2007 limited for 15k or less!
This is the dealership that has several, and the one were considering the most is the Black limited with beige interior listed for 14,999. Now I just need to figure out what a reasonable trade in is for my wifes 2006 Santa Fe. If we do go with an Entourage this will be our 6th Hyundai!
Any advice, tips, or areas of concern to pay attention to with a used Entorouge? I definitely will be running a carfax before I buy used, and if I don't see that the car had various maintenance items like a tranny flush I'll most likely get that done.

I did.. I found a touring which has every single thing my Limited has except the honda had a rear back up camera and my lmited doesnt..
Tale of the Tape: 41,250.00
4Rbeans Limited: 25,970...
once you take out trade out we paid even less..
with those numbers I say this.. I will take my Limited with any issues that come with it as I dont think that the Honda is 16,000 dollars better than my limited...
Thoughts?

Has anyone else experienced their battery going dead? Tonight it happened again for the third time on our '07 Entourage.
The first time I had left a small scanner on in the vehicle but the other two times I could not find any source of a drain on the battery. I recognize the clock etc pulls a small amount but it shouldn't be enough to drain the battery totally.
I guess I'm wondering if the stock battery is just super cheap and inferior.

Just bought a 2009 Elantra Touring this weekend. Love it so far!
The only thing I found annoying was with the Ipod. I select Songs and then you need to turn the knob to get to a song you want. It starts at A, so to get to L I need to keep turning the knob till I get there? Takes FOREVER? Why can't there be a A-Z thing or a quick way to get to the middle of the song list?
Also, I found an XM channel I liked and held down the first preset key to set it. Fine - but one I turned off the car and restarted it, I lost the preset.
Thanks,
Brian

Does anyone have experience living in a cold climate and their Entourage sliding power doors freezing shut overnight? I live in Central NJ and we've had a fairly cold, snowy winter. Most mornings I can't get one or both of the sliding passenger doors open. I have to load 3 kids in through the back into their carseats which is a huge pain in the neck. The doors usually don't open until the car has been running and warmed up for at least 30 minutes, and even then they might re-freeze. And then when the car is moving I will get "door open" alarms and have to pull over to open and shut the doors.
I've got an appointment at Colonial Hyundai in Ewing NJ on Saturday but wondered if anyone has experience and advice on what to look for in a fix, or if a home fix is possible.
Thanks!

Hi, noob here.
I tried searching, found nothing - I find the driver and passenger armrests a few inches too low. Anyone had this experience and/or found any way of augmenting/replacing them?
Thanks!

I noticed that my 08 Entourage has a compression ratio of 10.5:1 and burns regular unleaded. That's fantastic! My question is, has anyone used premium fuel with a higher octane and got different results (better fuel economy or power)? I am wondering if the computer uses the knock sensor to keep the timing in check, and if premium is used, would the computer alter the parameters and adapt for the higher octane fuel to give even better power or economy?

I'm wondering if the fault indicator is just a light or are any "bells" involved. I'm thinking about dedicated snow tires for next year but don't wish to spend the extra money for another four sensors.

Got some 16" steel wheels with hubcaps to replace the 17" alloys during the winter.
It looks like the lugnuts used on the alloys will not work to hold the hubcaps in place.
Anyone have the steel wheels and could verify if the lug nuts have a flange which holds down the hubcaps?

Because existing sources of auto reliability information left much to be desired, in late 2005 I started conducting my own reliability research at
TrueDelta.com. TrueDelta reports absolute stats like "trips to the shop" that make the differences between cars much clearer. Results are updated four times a year, so it's possible to provide reliability information on new models quickly. Also, any significant changes in a model's reliability become apparent quickly.
I've started posting results for the Entourage, but more participants would still be very helpful.
Participants simply report repairs the month after they occur on a one-page survey. When there are no repairs, they simply report an approximate odometer reading four times a year, at the end of each quarter.
To encourage participation, panel members will receive full access to the results free of charge.

Vehicle reliability researchComments, questions, and suggestions welcome.
