it sounds like some old ungreased door hinges ( if you get what i mean)
can someone tell me what is it exactly ?!...
i know that when i'm driving we hear it really well, also when i am "pushing" on my front fender ( passenger side) it squeaks... and also when the car is stopped and i juste turn the stearing wheel... it squeaks also
Help me !!! because i'm suppose to leave for vacation with my **** XG this upcomming weekend !

Good Afternoon to all,
I have a 2001 Granduer and it is one of the hardest cars to work and am having trouble locating the tension nut to tighten drive belt as when the car starts up in morning there is alot of weird sounds coming from that area and once warm all the noises are gone except when rainy conditions l do hear the belt slip if power is increased. If anyone has a suggestion that would be great.
P.S. l have recently removed the airbox and replaced with Pod filter and the power increase is amazing and l have also added 17inch rims and low profile tyres and the handling is amazing and l haven't touched the suspension at all. The car now sounds like a rolling V8. Huge difference in power and sound and it only cost $70 for Pod Filter.

Hello-
I just adopted a 2002 XG350L. One of the keyless entry transmitters is missing, and I was hoping to find a cheap replacement. Ebay has a plethora of dirt-cheap options, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to program these to work with my car.
Does anyone have any idea about what years/models use the same keyless entry system? Has anyone had any experience programming a transmitter?
one option I'm looking at is
this auction. Some other auctions I looked at lead me to beleive this would work on my '02 XG, but I'm not sure.

I have a 2001 XG 300, that belonged to a family that lived down a mile ling dirt road. It is my sense that the 6 years of going up and down that dusty road had an impact on the electrical system. Periodicly and inexplicably the car will not do anything when I turn the key to start. It seems to be when the humidity is high, but I don't know if that has anything to do with it. There is power when I turn the key to the "on" position, but then when I turn the key further, it doesn't do anything.
Also, randomly, the radio will turn itself on and off, as well it will randomly try to switch to CD mode while you are listening to the radio.
As well, when you try to roll down either of the back windows, bith of them roll down, and it takes 30-40 tries to get the back right window to roll back up.
Still more. When the window lock button is depressed on the driver's door switch panel and the car is in park, the fasten seat belt light on the dash cluster illuminates.
And finally, the gas fill door actuator switch on the driver's door panel doesn't work. To access the gas tank, one has to open the trunk and pull the aux. gas door tab.
With such screwy electrical issues, my sense is that most of them are related by a common control unit that manages the electrical signals for alo of the accessories in the car.
Any thoughts?

my 2001 XG300 is kept in garage, with a trickle charger (battery tender) when I'm away. It has 25,000 miles on it. Used car for about a week, had started right up after about 45 days. after drving and then parked for 3 hours. It wouldn't start, virtually dead. A quick jump and started right up. drove for hour and parked overnight on trickle charge. In morning showed fully charge, but again wouldn't crank. Had to leave in garage (left for Christmas). will try jumping upon return. Any ideas as cause??
Battery is 2 years old. Short whining type noise after trying to start and key off.
Thanks

I think I bumped something last night. My alarm light is always on, even when the car is on. Normally, it flashes when the car is off.
My car no longer chirps when using the remote but the lights flash.
I know the horn is good because the alarm sounds in panic mode.
I can't find the button to enable this **** thing! And I don't want to disconnect the battery, it's a pain.
I park this car in an unsavory part of town to get into NYC via train every day. Any help would be MUCH appreciated.

I live in Hawaii. There are no Auto Zone stores over here.
I recall reading in some forum somewhere that Auto Zone will give you a free reading on your "engine light" signals. Forgot it right away, just remembered it now, and thought I'd pass it on to the group.
Please call them first, as I don't actually know myself if AZ does that.
I had the light twice, local gas station wanted $80 to ID the code, and the dealer wanted $90. (Dealer did the whole repair, melded the code reading into the overall repair price.)
I hope it works and saves someone some money.

Ok. So the other day my trustworthy buddy was borrowing my car and while driving, it went into neutral while still in gear. I finally had a look at it and sure enough when i start the engine and try to shift it into reverse, d, or 1or 2, it stays disenguaged like it's in neutral. One weird thing about it is when its in park or neutral, the RPM's go down and on occation the car stalls. Thats probably an easy fix but something to consider. If anyone has any advise ill be sooo grateful. I dont want to just take it to a Tranny specialist and fork out half a grand for a fix.

had LPG gas installed in my 2000 Grandeur a couple of weeks ago.
the symptoms...
Most mornings it switches back and forth between gas and petrol. It is supposed to start on gas....but takes a few kilometers before it'll stay on gas. The gas guy reckons that there's not enough power going to the solinoids to keep it on gas.
I went away a few months ago and the car's battery was dead.
I have had the battery checked by an auto electrician and that is fine.
Could it be the alternator?
Is the battery being drained overnight by something..maybe the car alarm?
Any ideas?
cheers, ian

I hope someone can help. My fathers Grandeur has been converted to run on LPG (uses the old mixer not injected). An additional computer has been added and they tapped into one of the EGO sensor's wiring loom. The car runs OK on gas but barely on petrol. The installer who isn't very technically minded didn't want to know about the problem from the beginning and kept saying the computer needs more time to relearn after switching back to petrol but my father has persisted bringing the car back consistently over the last few months because the problem hasn't fixed itself. The installer got a more tech savvy young bloke in who tried several other LPG computers among other things and nothing has helped, he said he's lost, tried everthing. The Grandeur keeps logging an EGO circuit malfunction about a minute after switching to petrol. The young bloke was aware of this and said they only tapped into the EGO sensor in one exhaust manifold, the EGO signal should still get to the ECU. Could the ECU be picking up noise from the modified EGO loom? Has anyone got any ideas, the installer hinted that this motor will never run well on petrol again. How can this be an acceptable outcome. I don't mind diving into this myself if I knew where to look. I was hoping the installer could get it right. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I just bought a OBDII/CAN scantool from ebay, it has a trapezoid connector.
My fathers 2000 model Grandeur XG300 (and my 2006 Kia too) has a rectangular connector. Can I buy an adapter, am I overlooking something simple here? I thought post 1996 vehicles are meant to be OBDII compliant.
The Grandeur has just been converted to run on LPG and now the engine light is on, was alright for a while, seems to loose power on petrol now. The LPG conversion place doesn't want to know about it, a very unfriendly sort. Could anyone please give me some advice?

Hi Montego:
Hope you are well - I haven't been online for a while. I've just had an 80K service done on my 02 XG30 at Cambridge Hyundai who hit me for £380. They also did me the honour of finding corrosion on my brake pipes, low disks and pads and cracks in my power steering chain. The bill for repairing this lot will be around £600 including labour, but naturally using genuine Hyundai parts.
My question is, should I stick with the reassurance of using the main dealer, or should I be satisfied with my reliable generalist local garage who will probably do the work much cheaper?
Obviously, any response offered is non-binding, but I'd like to know what you would do if you couldn't do the work yourself.
It's a lot of dosh, but I really rely on my XG.
Best regards
Jerry (previously of Leicester, now of Cambridge)

Hi All
Coming home today my XG did the dreaded jump from 5th to 3rd at 100kmph.

So I guess its time to replace input and output sensors. My question is can i replace the sensors myself.I know where they are located and am a reasonable mechanic. Is there anything that I should look out for.I can get the sensors for AU $148 each or does someone know a cheaper source in Australia.
Thanks

Hi looking on our auto shop magazine Auto Trader.co.uk. Anyways I was looking on there and there are some Grandeurs for sale on there which are right hand drive (correct side for UK roads). This is quite strange as on Hyundais UK website thier is no mention of them. Are these cars imports or are they the real deal and hyundai has decided not tell anybody that they exist?

Hi.
Can someone tell me please why is it so that if I use wipers with full speed they dont work as nimbly as expected? They shatter and stop in the middle of the window like the fuse had blown while repeatedly failing to exceed the force of friction.
Now here is a but.
When I turn on A/C the wipers gain power and full speed seems to be correct. So my question is why I "have" to use A/C for normal wipers work?

HI All, I've been reading the forums lately and have come up with what I think is the answer but just want to ask my questions just to be sure....
My Xg hasn't had many problems at all in the 3-4 years I've owned it, but starting about 6 months ago my alarm stopped arming on the car, the doors lock just fine but the lights don't flash to say the alarm has armed, then maybe about 3-10 minutes the alarm goes off for no reason, I've checked all door, hood and trunk sensors and they are fine, alarm just doesn't arm properly and then goes off some time after. Thats problem one. I've lived with it and just lock my doors when I leave the car....
Around 2 months ago my brake and battery light came on which I knew was the battery or altenator not charging, I went to my garage and the problem was the alternator was overcharging the car I think the guy said at around 18-22 volts constantly well that has lead ofcourse to a new alternator and battery as the other was fried. At about the same day as the car died I notice that the day time lights were not coming on when the car was started. And since I had everything fixed up they haven't come on really ever. If they do I hear a bunch of clicking coming from around the driver side of the car and the lights blink like I'm a cop lol. So far I just turn on the main head lights and this in turn shuts off the day lights from blinking.
Also on a side note anyone have problems with rust around the moon roof window. I don't have a spot of rust on this car and it's really bugging me, it';s basically the seal or black trim around the moon roof window that is rusting it still makes a great seal but I'm worried that quite soon it won't be anymore and I'm wondering do I have to switch the window all together or is it possible to take out the window and replace the edging around it.....
I'm wondering if this might be a ETAC problem or maybe something more simple and less expensive.

The plan is to replace stock rear springs with harder and a bit shorter ones. This would give a more humble/decent look to the cars rear end and also I would love to see a bit more bonnet when Im driving. Also the stability in the corners would be better.
Doen anyone have experiences with this or a picture?

Hi - When I shift into either drive or reverse from a cold start a prominent buzzing or rattling noise can be heard from under the hood at idle. The condition does not occur in Park or Neutral. In Drive or Reverse the noise is immediately reduced (but not eliminated) when I press on the accelerator. Once I have been driving for about 10 minutes and everything is warm the noise completely goes away. The probelm does not occur after a warm start but will reoccur at the next cold start. The problem occurs even at outside temperatures up to 20C but is more pronounced the colder it is. Has anybody encountered this?
Thanks,
Craig

Hi all,
I recently purchased a 2001 Hyundai Grandeur. Like many of you, I also have discovered that on a regular basis my car, while at a cruising speed of 80km/hr will jump from 5th into 3rd and remain there until i re-start the engine. This is most disconcerting. I cannot believe that Hyundai has not done a re-call on the speed sensors as clearly this is a fault with this model and it has the potential to be very, very deangerous. I called Ferntree Gully dealership and they said they don't know what it is and would have to put it on the diagnostic computer to find the error code. I then wrote to head office of Hyundai Australia and mentioned the problem to them (and the fact that it should be a recall issue on this model) and asked if they would be willing to fix it, to which they repleid they'd look into it. They then came back and said my car was out of warranty and i'd have to take it to a dealer and get it fixed myself. I already have a fair idea that it's the speed sensors based on everyone else's similar problems with this model. I am in the electronics industry so i figure before I fork out my $450 to get them replaced, I will have a crack at looking at them myself first. Often with sensors it can be a simple matter of cleaning the electrical contacts etc to fix the issue. My question is to anyone who might know where the input and output speed sensors are located on the car? If i know where to find them and what to look for that will help me no end.
Much appreciated...
Luke

I had to replace my alternater on my 01 XG300. After about a week the nut that was holding the pulley on the tensioner bolt came loose. Lucky the pully itself was still on it but the nut was lost. Ive gone too 2 differnt auto parts stores and the local hardware store buying random bolts around the size that i thought it was to tru to get one that works. I even called a dealership and asked them but the parts guy told me it was not in the system. I would apreciate any help in finding the corect bolt that I need to fix this problem.
Thx
