Greetings all. I just got an 08 Accent SE (Automatic) 2 weeks ago. I 'downgraded' from my 02 Elantra. I'm noticing that my MPG is nowhere near what was on the sticker.
Through my first tank, I'm only getting 19MPG. I only have 350 miles on the engine. Is there a 'break-in' period that I need to put it through? I'm doing as the manual suggested, driving it no greater than 55mph and not revving the engine over 3k.

Today while driving home from doing some shopping, I was crusing along on the interstate around 75 MPH and had my sunroof open (slid back). I passed a truck which I'm assuming changed the aerodynamics and my pop up wind blocker started flopping like mad, sounded like a helicopter, the whole entire roof was popping up and down. Talk about scary stuff. I reached up and pulled it down and then let go and all was well from then on. Every car I own has a sunroof and I've not experienced this before.
Anyone else ever experience this?

So i was in a rush to work today, and when my mp3 player was changing songs, I start hearing this high pitched sound, at fighst i thought it was coming through the engine bay, but when I looked at it, nothing. So whatever, I went to work, but when I got off work, I paused my mp3 player to take a call, and when I pushed the pedal, it starting making the noise again, but through the speakers! So idk, it sounds tight, and whatever, I just want an explanation! I was meeting up with my friend, and I just drove around with her, and she's like what the **** is that?? I just smiled and pushed it to the limit...

Hello everyone, as you can see I am new here. Two weeks ago my timing belt stripped out while I was going around 30 mph. I was on the street that my house is on and I was able to coast into the driveway. I did try to start the car after it died and that is when I realized that the engine was turning over extremely fast. I knew that I had no compression at that point. Well here is where it gets confusing for me, first I understand that this is an interference enigne. I commence to replace the timing belt, tensioner, and idler. Once I had these items replaced I tried to start the car just to be sure everything was ago before re-installing all of the other belts. Well to my disbelief I still had what appeared to be no compression. Well last night I got out my compression gauge and again to my disbelief I had no compression on all 4 cylinders. I understand that I may have warpped a valve of damaged a piston on this interference engine, but all 4 cylinders????? If the No.1 is at TDC I cannot get compressed air to pass through the cylinder but when turning over the engine with the starter there is no compression and this is the same thing cycling through all the cylinders on the compression stroke. If I open each cylinder one by one I can get air to pass through to the intake and also and then with the intake valves closed I can get air to pass through to the exhaust. I am reallly confused, my thought is that I probably damaged a valve but my gut is telling me that I may have something else screwed up. Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Gary

I have someone that will bore out out throttle bodies, Not sure if this is something people are honestly interested in, or a wish list.
I will get a couple of throttle bodies and have them done with a core charge if anyone is interested.

I'm looking at places to get my windows tinted. I want tints that WILL NOT FADE for the life of the vehicle.
This place only does 3M film. The kind that is guaranteed to never fade or change color. How are these prices?
http://www.sunandshade.net/pricing.htmLook at their work and tell me if it's worth it.
http://www.sunandshade.net/tint.htmhttp://www.sunandshade.net/vehicles.htmThe 3M film seen here is the film I'd be getting:
http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3M/en_W...StableAutoFilm/50% front side windows and 35% rear sides panels/rear windshield
Or there's another place that says this:
$219.00 with a lifetime warranty. Call to schedule an appointment.
Of course, upon looking at the company of Window Films they use, it says they have a LIMITED Lifetime Warranty, which no doubt doesn't cover fading.
I think the first one is a better bet in that case because the prices are already pretty close. And considering the first one has a FULL lifetime warranty, that seems to be the way to go.

I'll go ahead and go first.. My new video

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm going down my drive way faster than it looks. My corners are very sharp so at the speed I was going it was hard to control 1 handed and drift but I did my best. My camera person can't film for me because she is pregnant and I don't think it's a good idea to have my wife in the car with me during these video's.

http://kia-fx.netfirms.com/estore/nfoscomm...products_id=371just curious if anyone has done this mod.
i did the front strut bar, and the difference was night & day as others said it would be.
just wondering what all changes when you add one of these into the equation & whether it's worth the price of admission or not? (i'm cheap. and poor.

)
i doubt i'll spend the coin on it for several months at least, even if it gets rave reviews, but just figured i'd post and ask for the heck of satisfying my curiosity.

Ok I'm getting ready to but the
KFX SRI and I
need to see if there is anyone out there that has a picture and some measurements of
there custom ECU bracket. As far as i can tell the KFX is almost exactly like the AEM
but it does not have a ecu bracket. I'm glad they are offering one, I wanted to get the AEM
but not for $320. I will need to get the ecu bracket made prior to the start of the install.
I don't have allot of time for car repair and only have one car so i can not stop to get
parts, or supplies once I start. Any help would be appreciated.

Because existing sources of auto reliability information left much to be desired, in late 2005 I started conducting my own reliability research at
TrueDelta.com. TrueDelta reports absolute stats like "trips to the shop" that make the differences between cars much clearer. Results are updated four times a year, so it's possible to provide reliability information on new models quickly. Also, any significant changes in a model's reliability become apparent quickly.
I’ve started collecting data on many competitors to the Accent, including the Honda Fit, Nissan Versa, and Toyota Yaris. But I need more Accent owners signed up to help out before I can start collecting data on the small Hyundai.
Participants simply report repairs the month after they occur on a one-page survey. When there are no repairs, they simply report an approximate odometer reading four times a year, at the end of each quarter.
To encourage participation, panel members will receive full access to the results for free.
For the details, and to sign up to help out:

Hey everyone. I was checking my oil yesterday and found something sitting on the flat area under my horn. It's a plastic insert/cover of some sort. I've attached some pics so that maybe someone with more knowledge about Accents could identify it. Sorry the piece is a little out of focus; it was taken with my phone.
I looked all over for anything that looked compatible under the hood, but couldn't find anything. For all I know, it doesn't even go on my car and just somehow got kicked up from the road (I do a LOT of interstate driving).

I have to do something about my dome light, when my car stereo is hitting
it rattles like crazy. So I'm going to pop it open to see what all the rattle is about.
While I have it open I want to change the bulb to a blue or bright white bulb.
the stock bulb is kind of yellowish. Has anyone changed there's out to something
other then a stock replacement? I'm not even sure what kind of bulb is in there.

Hello,
I have a 2006 Hyundai Accent with over 102,000 km (63,000 miles). I am religious with my factory maintenance schedule.
Anyway I am experiencing two weird symptoms.
1) In the morning when I start my car, with my car on a slight incline, my car will rev 50 rpm up and down every 3/4 second or so as I am reversing out of my driveway. I have to keep my foot on the brake so it doesn't accelerate too much. When I get on the street, put it into drive and go, the symptom is gone.
2) When I hit between 65-75 kph while accelerating, my car vibrates a bit. It seems to be only when I am accelerating. If I, say accelerate to 80 kph and then left off the gas and left it coast down between 65 and 75 kph, I don't feel the vibration. If I am above 75 kph, I don't feel a vibration, and below 65 I don't.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks!

OK... this could quite possibly be the smartest thing I could do... But i need to find a used 3door 5spd for the winter.... (Oh god I really should'nt have gotten rid of mine but i dont regret it, I have just recently begun to be enthusiastic about my rx8... [thank you forza 2])
So far heres what I've looked at A few different honda civic coupes and hatches... (I hate the fact that a CRX with less than 1000 in mods can still smoke me, and I've tuned everything else so... I guess its time to try them???)
But what I keep coming back to is... the accent... I miss it so bad.. I still know what one sounds like when it starts up by heart... But now.. they're everywhere... its ridiculous...
I'd say what caused this is I saw the lady who bought mine driving it the other day... & it looked good....
So what do you think how much you think I could get a used gs with power & 5spd or used SE 5spd for????

Hi Guys
I am from SA and have a 2007 Accent.
Does anyone else feel that the ventilation fan on the Accent is very weak, I have to turn
mine to at least 3 if i want to feel the air moving.
My mom has a Kia Rio and hers is pretty much the same.
Is there any way to improve it, i have read that the Accents have a filter under
the glove box but not sure if that is true or not.

I messed my Instrument Cluster up doing the LED mod. Several things happend and I don't know why. First the turn signal lights no longer work and yes I did solder them correctly. 2nd: When putting the little glass screen back in you need to make sure it is the right way. I was in a hurry do to family stuff around here and my screen cracked.
It's a plate of glass and shows how many miles are on the car ect.
I can't get the 1 part from the dealership I have to order a new Instrument Cluster.
Cost from the parts guy: $500 - $700
FIRE MISSION: (I did trust me no one around here has em)
Please call your local junk yard and ask if they have a 2007 Accent GLS and that you need an Instrument Cluster for one. Also ask if they have a 2007 Kia Rio (basicly the same car)
I really really really really really need a new but cheaper than $500 Instrument Cluster

I bought my 2008 Accent GLS back in June and was dissappointed by the 22-26 MPG I was getting. It improved just a tiny bit over time. All of the sudden my last tank averaged 32.2 MPG. It was like a switch was flipped at 3500 miles.
I have no specific driving habits. Sometimes I drive hard and sometimes I don't. Sometimes I drive to work through the center of town and other times I take the loop around.
I wasn't a believer when I read the posts that said it would get better. Yes, I was mistaken.
Thanks, Rob

so i went and got my free oil change and free 7500 mile service (2000miles overdue

) and im coming back down this long, open, 4 lane road.. traffic light about 1/2 mile ahead, car pulls out from neighborhood on left, guy stays in left lane, im in the right.. traffic light changes from red to green, car that is stopped at traffic light doesnt move. guy that pulls out from neighbor hood changes from left lane to right lane (where im residing) all in the course of about 1/100th of a second, i hit the clutch, hit the brakes and lock up front wheels... tires squeeling for a good 2-3 seconds... and this guy doesnt even seem to notice that he pulled SLOWLY into the path of another car that is doing the posted 45 MPH limit... no blinker,no notice at all to the guy behind him (me) that hes changing lanes.... i got to about a foot and a half from his bumper, no impact! (looks up, THANK YOU!!) so i pull up next to him and with my passenger window down, let him have it with ever cuss word i can think of! i call him, and his family everything under the sun, then i speed off... think im gonna have a headache soon...
here some pics of new Genesis while i was waiting on oil change! enjoy and happy Saturday!!

Hello mate, I'm new here. I have my 08' Accent Sedan since last Apirl. I love this little ride. I have a question for all of you fellow Accent riders.
Where in the world I could find reasonable price for Armrest cover? Mine only have 1 rest, and it is in a cream color along with the dark brown and cream interior. I have been looking all over on sites and town for armrest cover, and it almost like it doesn't exist. It doesn't have to be fancy custom fit kind, I really need something that I do not want to get the original all dirty.

The same goes for rims. What's going to happen if I don't buy wheels with the sensors on them?

I was reading the Coolant Bypass Mod:
http://www.hyundai-forums.com/t30858-accen...-bypass-mod.htmAnd was curious about performing it. My question is after you disconnect the two hoses on the intake manifold you have the two pipes there circled in yellow.

Do I plug it with something or just leave it alone? I assuming you leave it alone since I didn't see mentioned in the post. But I just wanted to get it verified.

I wanted to get headers and and exhaust system for my 2007 Hyundai Accent GS Hatchback and came across kfx and evofusion. I was reading around this forum for the cat back from EVO and it seems it won't fit on my vehicle according to bloodninja's post who has the 2008 accent 2dr. It's safe to assume if it won't fit on the '08 it won't fit on the '07... I guess I'll go custom exhaust too. Why isn't EVO doing anything about this. It clearly says on their site the cat back is for 2000-2008 Accents.
For the headers I was looking at EVO but it seems it stops at '05 Accent. Will the EVO headers still fit on the '07? I emailed EVO about the headers and they said the '07 Accent doesn't have enough room for the headers. Doesn't the '05 and the '07 have the same engine size 1.6L? Were they just saying this to be on the safe side 'cause the vehicle year is different?
So I searched some more and saw Komptek's post for the KFX headers. I went to the KFX website and its says "2006 and up" for the headers. But seems like there's a slight problem installing this header, so some questions regarding Komptek's post from:
http://www.hyundai-forums.com/t30361-kfx-header-diy.htm(I'm not really mechanically inclined so this is hard to understand)
1. What is this connection end that needs to be grinded to 2-3mm to CAT. Is this for installing the catalytic converter to the pipe.
2. What size bolt is it, how many and do I need any washers or lock washers?
3. I'm just lost with this welding thing.
If I went to a shop and just gave them the KFX headers without saying anything but "Can you install this?". Will they know what to do?
Thanks.
