I was wondering if anyone knew the weight of any or all of the OEM 2007 Accent wheels.
I'll be looking to take weight off however I can and this is always a good place to start

As part of the necessary 30K maintenance on the ol' Accent, I need to throw in a set of plugs... But which ones?
The OEM ones have suited me fine - the car runs good enough, gets good mileage, and the engine has always ran very smooth. But those are probably Champions, right? I know Hyundai's used those a lot in the past, not sure about now... I've never been particularly fond of the brand, although I guess they do OK in lawn mowers.

No telling how much dough the dealer would want for them, I could probably get a better set of another brand for the same money. I tried looking them up on Hyundai's online parts site but now I get the message that the site is no longer available.

I had a set of NGK Iridiums in the last car, those were good plugs but a bit spendy, it was fifty something bucks for a 4-banger. If they make them for this car, I may consider them. Any other brands/types that would be a good replacement?
What's a good plug to put in these engines? Any tips/tricks I need to know for changing them out? Looks pretty straightforward to do. Should I coat the threads on the new plugs with an anti-seize compound? I didn't last time around with the old car, but wondered after the fact if I should have. And how much do they need to be torqued down? I'm always a bit on the cautious/worried side when it comes to screwing plugs into aluminum...

Hey all,
I have a 2007 Hyundai Accent 4 dr automatic and I'm looking for a dash trim kit...something in Chrome or Aluminum, and I see things online for "02-up" models but looking @ the cutouts and such it doesn't match. Is it too early for these things to be out yet?
Thanks,

I'm attaching pics of a few scratches (minor gouges?) on the rear bumper of my 2007 Accent 3dr. They are right near the edge of where the bumper makes a 90 degree angle towards the ground, as you should be able to see from the pic. The scratch on the left (driver's side) is down to the plastic, and has a few very small nicks in the black plastic underneath. Is it possible to repair this with some touch up paint and a clearcoat brush or pen? The other nick is to the right (passenger side) of the left scratch, and it has slightly chipped the paint, but the paint has not chipped off the bumper, just left a minor indent. These are small scratches, maybe 1/4 inch total in length for the bigger one. If anyone has any suggestions how I could make these look fairly repaired like-new without repainting the entire bumper, I'd love any suggestions.
Thanks for any help!
DJ
P.S. I know these pics aren't the best and the car is dirty, but it should give some idea of what I need to work to fix.

Hey folks....
Proud owner here, of a 2006 Hyundai Accent GLS. Love my car, but am a bit frustrated with not being able to find a repair manual for it. Usually I've taken my money/business to Haynes Repair Manuals, however....as luck would have it, they don't have a manual for my car as of yet.
Does anybody know where I can get a HARD COPY manual? Money is no object, provided it's geared for the 2006 Hyundai Accent (and NOT other years that may be relevant for the 2006). I don't know if Hyundai even offers a legit repair manual for their car. I have their owner's manual, but I'm looking for a comprehensive repair manual. Both Haynes and Chilton have let me down as they don't have a repair manual.
PLEASE HELP!!!!!!

hello again, sorry, still no pix of my car, tomorrow is likely.
anywho, i want to purchase (or if all else fails paint) a hood for my car black
preferably i would like to purchase one from the dealer prepainted, or find one wrecked in the rear with a good hood still
if anyone knows if there are any sites for oem parts like the hood or fenders and such, please let me know...because i doubt we will see a carbon fiber hood available for us anytime soon, but if anyone has any details on that or custom work let me know
my rally-car style customizing has begun
my first mod (besides some thin rubber anti-doording strips that were strategically placed and a dealer pinstripe) are my rims that are on their way, will post all pics really soon if i can find that dreaded camera cord

I was in my Canadian Hyundai dealer today to see if I could get a 2007 SR. He tells me that there were only 770 imported to Canada and they were all sold before the ship made the dock.
So instead I've opted for a GS Sport and I'm loading it up with SR add ons. Has anyone attempted to install the carbon fibre trim kit? Any tips, photos, suggestions?
Thanks

Ahoy everyone,
I have been eyeing the custom angel eyes available through k-spec, but I'm concerned about the complexity of the project (don't know alot about cars). Has anyone installed these on their Accent's headlights? If so, do you have any advice or instructions for a novice?
Thanks guys!

I realize I'm probably going to get some biased responses on this forum, but I figure it's worth asking anyway. (Although I can't imagine Hyundai owners will be quite as rude as the Toyota people were when I asked them.

)
My wife and I have had just one car (a 2004 Accent, in fact) for the past 3 years; suddenly she's got a new job that will require her to drive instead of taking the bus, so I need to get a 2nd car for getting around town or for day trips, and I'd like to buy new rather than used. I see cars only as necessary evils, so I don't need a lot of options (or even automatic transmission), and I've narrowed it down to the two cheapest choices: Hyundai Accent hatchback or Toyota Yaris liftback.
The cost difference between the two is negligible; the Yaris does cost a tiny bit more, but it's cheaper to insure. I honestly think the Accent looks better, but that's not going to sway me. (The better Hyundai warranty, on the other hand, does sway me somewhat.) Anyway, I'm wondering if anyone else went through a similar quandary, and what might have pushed them in one direction or the other. I've done a test drive of the Yaris, and it seemed fine; I'm trying out an Accent tomorrow.
Thanks for any insights...

Quick question: My 07 GS hatch, bought in Florida, has the following guage layout - tach left, speedo right, gas center, no temp gauge. I only have temp 'idiot lights' for cold engine and hot engine. All the other 07 Accents I see have a cluster where gas is inside speedo and temp is inside tach. Does anyone else have my cluster? I actually like my cluster better than the others because it looks less cluttered and the gas gauge is larger.
Also, on the subject of fuel economy, I'll report my results. My car has just under 1800 miles so far. it is a 5-speed stick. I drive mostly 'city' but with only moderate traffic and so far every tank is averaging 26-27 mpg. I am hoping that this will eventually improve to an average of 30 mpg.

I'm looking to "upgrade" my factory radio in my '07 4dr Accent. I want to get something like this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Xo-Vision-X...130268019QQrdZ1But I don't think it's the right size, and I have a bad habit of buying things before I know for sure if they work. I figured I'd try to break that habit and try here. Does anyone know of any GOOD radio/DVD players that are the right size?
Thanks,

Hey i need help. My parents took me to the Hyundai dealership and we asked for an Accent with 5 speed M/T and power locks and windows. I don't know how they did it, but they convinced my parents that i don't need the power locks and windows, and they got the car for me.
Now that they are regretting they didn't get it for me (i accidentally left the hatch unlocked a zillion times in the past week), they are giving me money to put power in the car.
Now for the real question:
How would i open the doors and install the door lock actuators. The guy i talked to will install it for 125 PER FREAKING DOOR! He said he will sell me both actuators for 50 bucks and i could install it myself.
Help anyone?

I'm radpidly closing in on 30,000 miles, so I want to try to take care of as many maintenance items on the schedule that I can myself. One of which is this mysterious "fuel tank air filter." At 15K, I had asked the dealer to inspect it since it was on the schedule but they looked at me like I was an idiot until I pulled out the book. They then had to come to the realization that whatever the heck I was talking about actually exists.

Of course, it never got inspected because they still don't know what it is after I brought it up to them when I had it in the other day for an oil change. They couldn't tell me how much it would cost to replace, they weren't sure if it required dropping the tank, whatever...
Anywho, I see it on hmaservice - it's this little rectangular box that sits on the fuel filler neck, right almost at the very top where the opening is. It has a tube that runs down to the canister that's near the fuel tank. It's ~$27, part number 31453-1G500 if I looked it up right. hmaservice doesn't advise how to remove/reinstall the filter, only shows where it's at.
Unfortunately, I can't seem to find a way to get at it, around the fuel filler tube, everything looks pretty well sealed up. I checked from underneath, can't see the area where it looks like it may be. Does anyone know how it comes out? Tried looking in the trunk, pulled back the carpet over on the left rear but didn't see anything. My only guess, since I can't see any open area in the vicinity that maybe the wheel well plastic needs to come out?
If anybody can help, thanks! I'm not sure how big of a deal changing this filter is, I suppose I could leave it alone until it starts throwing codes left and right for evap-related stuff but I'd rather not do that. ;)

Flying about 800mi to get a new '07 (dealer's) 3dr SE with the sun and sound pkg, priced at $14,300 + t, t, l, f....$15,800 out the door, but now wondering if I got as good a deal as I thought.
I specifically wanted a manual that's not red or green. Still saving at least 2k from what I've seen in my area, but after reading posts on the mileage, I'm a bit puzzled and also would like some advice. Not complaining, my '94 Rx7 was lost to a tree, so even at 28mpg I'm still doubling my mileage and using regular unleaded......but..
I had a '98 Elantra that got 25/35 mpg (never used the a/c) and the '04 Accent a/t gets about 22/30.
Why the loss over the years?
Will getting the sport shift help in any way?
The air intake?
(BTW, I did come across this site:
http://www.autodirectsave.com/product/list...2Dr/Air_Intakesit lists an air intake for the '07 for $100, I emailed to make sure it will fit)
Is it worth getting the factory sunroof deflector, vent visors or mud guards installed?
Or should I get aftermarket and install myself?
I really appreciate all the info I've found here!!
After-trip update:
Pure hwy miles I got about 35mpg, hwy/city averaged 31mpg, so not too bad afterall.

I am a new owner to Hyundai. This is the first Asian car I have owned since 1986, after that date I have owned nothing but European cars. Our daughter who is in university some 80 miles away needed reliable transportation. We did our due diligence and decided that the 2007 Hyundai Accent Premium model was the bset choice in comparison to other similar vehicles. Best in class safety features, fuel consumption etc. We received the vehicle in October 2006. I must state that my daughter has driven a manual transmission for seven years in a European car (SAAB) with not one problem with clutch pressure plates or anything related to the transmission. At first all appeared terrific, then the gremlins struck at about 400 KLM's or 240 miles the clutch pressure plate blew or a better description is disintegrated, pieces of the clutch were the size of dust filaments. Not a problem, care under warranty, dealer repaired indicating they have never seen anything like this before. They indicated there have been more trouble with automatics than manuals. The vehicle worked fine for the next month until the same thing happened at about 900 KLM's or 500 miles. This time the dealer under warranty replaced the entire transmission. After this event it worked fine for two months and the clutch pressure plate has burnt out. Hyundai Canada is now indictaing it is a driver problem. We are adamant that there is no way this is possible since we have never experienced transmission problems like this before. Further there is no way a clutch pressure plate would burn out that fast, in all my 38 years of driving experience, from MGs.TR6.s Datsun 280ZX. Toyota Supra, Saab and Mercedes. I wonder if anyone else out in Hyundai land has similar experiences with clutch problems with the 2007 Accent.?Does anyone know if the 2007 drive line is completely reengineered from the 2006?

They've finally given us a LITTLE bit of a choice in terms of tuning options. It's been there for a lil' while now, but for those who don't know....the dealer now provides you with the option to upgrade your air intake and you can even add on a front strut tower brace.
Sweet!

My first post - please forgive me if this question has been answered, but I've done some searching and haven't really found a lot of details.
I have a 2007 Accent which I bought new from a dealership here in Calgary back in February. Great car - rides well, quiet, decent mileage (8.1L/100kms on average) after about 8,000 kms.
In the past couple of weeks, I've noticed a knocking sound from the right rear side whenever I'm making a right turn (left turns are fine) over uneven pavement at low speeds (in to or out of parking lots mostly).
I've checked the tire pressure - everything's ok there, checked to make sure that the seatback is locked in, that's fine too.
I've found some other posts about a "k thump" that has been present in other models, is this the same thing? Is this something I should have looked at? If yes, is it urgent or just wait until the next oil change in a couple of months?
Thanks in advance!

Parked on the curb over the weekend to work on the Rover in the driveway.
When I finally the Accent back in the driveway, I noticed that I must have hit where the downspout comes through the curb and drains into the street.
Anyway, it took a chunk out of the tire and the white threads are showing.
I have a call into the dealer to get one ordered and replaced, then thought I may get a better price at a tire shop like Tire Discounters or something.
When I called with the size (205/45 R16), the guy asked me the particular model (AST, ASX or SPT) of Kumho tire I had.
I drove the Rover into work as I did not think it was a good idea to drive on the interstate with the tire like that.
I can't look at the Accent until I get home tonight.
Thought maybe someone on here would know or could go out at lunch and look so I could get the ball rolling a bit quicker.
Anyone know the specs on the accent 3 door factory tires?
Peace,
Dan

Well, if anyone was wondering, I found a way to custom make the short throw shifter. Going off the actual short throw from PSCMotorsport.com . It is 30mm shorter than stock, which in turn is about 1.1in. I have got a buddy that is gonna weld it back together when I cut it this weekend. I will keep everyone posted on the project. Should be finished hopefully by tomorrow. That website also offers Lowering springs, and a decent looking body kit. I think I am gonna stick with a custom wide body kit. I am gonna order 1 for a Peugeot 206 CC. I have a body shop in town that already said they would custom fit it and paint it to match for about $650 or so including paint.
Peace!

Hello all, I've had my Accent for a month now, about 500 km, so joining in here to add my experiences with the car. So far it's been great, I've added a K&N drop-in filter, and will soon install the front mud guards. The only problem I've had
is the cover for the fuse box coming loose every once in a while. And I discovered yesterday that the plastic wheel well liner is missing from the front driver's side. I didn't notice it when I picked the car up, and not until I went to install the mud guards. Waiting for the dealer to get one in next week.

I know I can do better. Needed more color in the sky, but anyway...... For me, photography is like fishing, "If you keep trying, and trying, you will eventually catch some good ones".
But enough for the excuses......
How can they call this Tango "Red" ? Looks straight up orange to me..... and I love it ! ..... except for the fact that this color is getting so darn popular :-( The last thing I want, is to get lost in the crowd. Oh well.

The wheels would probably look better on pavement, with the sun higher.... maybe next time.

Probably my favorite shot this evening.....

Or maybe this one....

These were basically taken in my back yard, the California Delta, but next time I will actually go somewhere, maybe the ocean, or Yosemite, and get some even cooler backgrounds :-)
Peace,
Fish

I'm the proud owner of the 3G '07 Accent SE. I noticed there's a difference with the way the remote works when compared to my '03 Elantra GT. On the Elantra GT when you press the unlock button on the remote, it unlocks all the doors including the hatch. But on the '07 Accent SE if you press the unlock button once, it will only unlock the driver's door. If you press it again waiting no more than 3 seconds, it then unlocks the passenger door and hatch. I was aware of this being a standard safety feature on much more expensive cars, but yet again, I'm blown away that this feature would be on a car that's under 15k. Wow. . .
Also, I was wondering if anyone might know how long the bulb in the "Passenger Airbag Off" indicator will last. If anyone hasn't noticed, it stays on all the time if there's no one in the front passenger seat.

I test drove a Hyundai Accent GS hatch w/ manual transmission 2 weeks ago and absolutely LOVED it.
However, I've never driven a 4 cylinder that turned so many rpms in 5th gear: 3600 @ 70mph. It's no wonder there are so many customers having fuel economy issues scattered throughout the Internet... that's like driving around in 4th gear for any other car. My Vibe, which only has a 1.8l, turns 2800 @ 70 mph, and even the Yaris, which has a smaller engine and fewer HP, only spins 3000 @ 70 mph.
So, are there any techs out there that can explain why Hyundai has opted for such a low overdrive gear? I spend 80% of my 50 mile commute doing 70-75 mph, and if I decide to put my money down, I don't want to end up getting a measly 26 mpg like so many others out there.
Thanks,

PS: For anyone that doubts the number of people that are dissatisfied with their fuel economy, do a quick check at Yahoo or MSN autos and look at the customer reviews. At least 50% of them report numbers consistently below 30 mpg, and several have already passed the 5k-7k mile break in period.
