Hi! This is my first post; I just got a good deal on a stick 05 Accent GT and I'm loving it - however, I've noticed that keyless entry would be really useful and since I already have power door locks, it shouldn't be that hard to install, right?
unfortunately, I've never done this before so I've got to ask you guys a few questions:
1. What basic steps are involved with installing a keyless entry kit?
2. Which kit would you recommend? I'm looking for cheap simplicity.
3. What's the best place to pick up said kit?
4. Are there any problems I should be warned about pre-install?
Thanks so much!

Hello,
My check engine light went off in my 2001 Accent L. Autozone checked my Data Trouble code and it was 0133 something like O2 Sensor Slow Reaction.
After about 1000 miles the C. E. Light went out. Now it has come back on and stayed on.
My car runs fine with the exception that the exhaust sounds a little different. sometimes it sounds like it might die in idle but it never does.
Should I just change the O2 sensor? And I've heard there are two sensors one before and the other after the cat. converter. The only one I can find is the spark plug looking one front and center as you look under the hood.
Please help. Thank you.

My 2002 Accent has 44000 km on it.
Two questions.
[1]
I change my oil and filter myself religiously every 4000 km. Always have in every vehichle I have owned and it seems everything else will give trouble before an engine does. Does this seem like overkill? The manual states a much higher mileage but that oil sure is dirty looking every time I change it. Besides being a positive thing to do are there any negatives to this practice?
[2]
I am pleased to see that there is a drain plug for the tramsmission. Wish all makes had that.
I intend to drain the transmission at 50.000 km. I understand that it all doesn't drain out because of the torque converter not draining (unless this is different with Hyundai transmissions)
I realize I have to get the right fluid that is only available through my dealer and I have found out there are no after market brands with the same specs .
For all you DIY people , how many litres do you use when changing your transmission fluid . Is there a filter in these transmissions like in North American built cars? At what mileage should the pan be removed to change the filter if the fluid has been changed every 50k km. ?
W.Y.

Today while driving to work, my 2002 Accent's check engine light came on and I could no longer accelerate. I took the car to the nearest service station (not a Hyundai Dealer) and they ran a diagnostic. It came back with the following codes: P1529 - transaxle control module error and P1765 Torque reduction malfunction. What exactly to these codes mean, and approx. how much will a repair be. The service center said it should be covered under warranty but according to my dealer, my warranty has expired. Any help would be apprciated.
Thanks!

Hello,
I would like to get a new in-dash CD player for my 2002 Accent. I'm looking for something with an aux-in (that FM transmitter business isn't cutting it for my iPod listening!). According to sites like Best Buy and Circuit City, there isn't one compatible with my car (I still have the factory stereo). Is this true or will I just need some sort of adapter? What is the problem anyway?
Thanks!

My check engine light is on due to a bad cat. I figure with how expensive a new cat is I might as well just get headers and a new cat, lenghten the wires, move the o2 sensor, and

. Will this work? I need my light off now!!

I was wondering if anybody can point me in the right direction as far as trouble codes go.
KOER - P0713 and P0727.
P0713 - Has to do with the transmission temp sensor
P0727 - has to do with the speed sensor
I believe these are all associated with the transmission, but I would like a little better explanation and whether or not it is common for these items to throw codes after only 38K miles? And is this considered warranty work.
I appreciate your help

I have got a Hyundai Accent 5DR 1.5CDX 2000 V Reg.
Bought it 2 weeks ago and drove around with Check Engine Light on all last week, got it checked out yesterday and the fella told me after around 10 minutes messing around, that the fault was fuel mixture had gone lean everything else checked out fine.
The light went off he said when he revved to above 3000 RPM out of gear, I have a sneaky feeling that it did not turn off more like he could not get a code so he reset the computer making the light go off.
I hate cars with computers grr

I recently got a C.E.L. and found out I have a P1128 DTC (Long term fuel multiplicative too lean). The shop manual recommends a whole list of things for t-shooting this malf. I tried everything from fuel system treatments in case of dirty injectors, to recently changing my purge canister sylenoid valve. I notice no apparent intake leaks, my PCV is good too. dont know what else to do besides replacing my EVAP canister. My OBDII's "CAT" and "EVAP" self tests blink meaning probable fault in the two. I also have after market cold air intake and an entire cat-back exhaust system. Can one of these be the problem? Any suggestions? Thanks.

Has anyone ever tried making a repair on a faulty Mass air flow sensor on Accent 2000.
I do have a (check engine light) for a few days then the light goes off for a few days again. Took the car to the Hyunday dealer and the code P1128 came out.
The mechanic tells me ( you can keep the car like this as long as it's running good) but added the problem being the mass air flow sensor and this sensor is some expensif.
I haven't replace the sensor yet and was just woundering if anyone ever tried to fix a faulty sensor (the electronic portion) of the sensor or if there is nothig to do but replace the Maf.
Even tought the car is running well, I just hate having this light on occasionnaly.
Many thanks , to anyone that can help,
Mark

Hi,
My problem first appeared one morning while exiting Gardiner expressway in Toronto. I've been driving at about 140-150 km/h for 10-15 minutes (I know my 2000 Accent is not a sports car, but there are few moments without much traffic there, and I was late

). So on the exit ramp I shifted to neutral and stepped off the pedals. Then the oil lamp went on. I was just about to pull off when it started flashing very rapidly. I noticed that when I was pressing the accelerator it went off and when I didn't touch anything it was flashing.
So, from then on, that's the problem:
1. It happens only when the engine is warm. When I start the car, for example, in the morning, everything looks OK.
2. When I drive at moderate RPM (about 1500-2000), it NEVER shows.
3. It shows after driving at least at 3000+ RPM for a while and then stepping off the pedals.
4. When I touch the accelerator OR the clutch (nevermind if it's on a gear or at neutral), flashing stops.
5. I changed oil about 3000 km ago. It still looks OK and almost at full.
Looking forward to your comments,
Simon.

My girlfriend owns a 2002 Hyundai Accent with a factory CD Player. When she goes around left hand turns, and left hand turns only, the CD will short out causing a chewing noise in the player then it gives an error code 2, 3, or sometimes a 6. What do these error codes mean? I have disassembled the center console to get the CD player out, which was not fun, and removed the CD player. I had taken the CD player and moved it side to side as it was playing and it did not do it. But, as soon as I put it back in and drive it down the road it started again. Any suggestions out there? Thanks!

I have a 2000 Accent with over 121,000 miles on it. It's been a great car, but lately it has been taking several tries to start the car.
When the car hasn't been driven for several hours and the engine temperature indicator shows the engine is cool is when the problem happens. The engine rolls over fine and acts like it is going to start but it quickly dies out. After the second or third try the car starts, but it runs really rough. I usually shut it off, then restart the engine. Then it runs fine.
I don't have this problem at all when the engine is warm. The car will start and run fine. It's summertime now where I live, so outdoor temperature is not a problem.
I've searched the Forum, but cannot find anyone with this particular problem. Does anyone have any ideas as to what may be wrong?

I just got an '05 Accent GT. I am loving it so far, however, I can't resist the urge to tinker with it. Ya, I'm a computer geek, so I love to tinker and tweak. I haven't really ever been into the car thing, but could easily see how one could get drawn into it.
My first thoughts are on increasing the HP. Seems a popular topic these days. It is appearing as though the easiest way to begin to get a little bit more HP without dropping $5K USD on a turbocharger (or supercharger... hell if I know the difference) is to play with the air intake, exhaust, and something else that I forget atm.
So, my questions are, will tweaking any of this stuff void my warrenty? If not, is it really worth the money for the benefit. I mean, if this stuff will increase the HP by +30, that's a huge increase % when this thing only has 104HP to begin with. Also, what's up with these mod chips I hear about. A great example is:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...TRK%3AMEWN%3AITIs this a sham? If not, can you tell me a little about it. If it is, are all these chips a sham?
I appreciate you help, feedback, and putting up with my newbish questions. Hopefully, as time permits, I'll learn more and understand this stuff better.

I own a 2004 Tiburon GTV6. It's my first Hyundai purchase and I love it. Hyundai quality has come a long way.
Because I love it so much I decided to buy my mother-in-law an Elantra to replace her old '92 Chevy Cavalier. I thought the Elantra would be perfect because it's just slightly larger than the Cavalier. As it turns out, she liked the Accent better. That's fine because for the same money I would have spent on a 2001 Elantra with 40K+ miles we bought a fully loaded 2003 Accent GL with only 31K miles. Unfortunately, fully loaded doesn't mean much in the Accent (auto, power locks, power windows and a CD player). The '01 Elantra has keyless entry, side air bags, ABS and traction control. But, she's happy and we got 3 years and 29K miles left on the warranty as opposed to only 1 year and less than 20K miles.
The one thing I hate is the dinky 13" wheels. My question is this: will the 15" wheels from an Elantra fit the Accent (bolt pattern and backspace)? I know the tires will be too large but a set of aftermarket 195/50-15 tires are the same diameter as the stock 175/70-13 tires. Even if it's just a set of factory steel wheels and hubcaps will make the car look and handle so much better. However, I am considering a set of the Elantra GT aluminum wheels. I believe they are the same as the wheels on the previous generation of Tiburons (2000-01). Anyone know for sure? Thanks in advance.

Hi Everyone,
I have a 2004 Accent. I bought it in August 2004 and I already have 36500KM on it. I do a lot of driving. Most of it is highway (80KM/H highways FYI)
Anyways, the dealership wants to charge me $35.00 CAD for standard Spark Plugs, and $100.00 CAD for platinum. I've changed dozens of spark plugs over the years helping out my dad and uncle (mechanics) so I know they're a piece of cake.
Anyways, Canadian Tire is having a sale in a few days. I can get NGK G Power Platinums for $6.79/pair or Iridiums for $15.99/pair.
Are Iridiums really worth the extra money???
And yes......I got the anti-seize compound
Thanks!

Hi,
I'm new to the forum.
I've recently purchased a new Accent ( my 4th Hyundai) and am having trouble with the AM radio. It works fine with the motor off, but is completely drowned out by static with the motor on. I am told by the dealer and their auto-electrician that it comes with the car and cannot be fixed.
Any suggestions?
P.S. I'm in Australia.

Hi Everyone,
I recently purchased a 2000 Hyundai Accent 2dr manual tranny for my daily driver. It is great for gas savings but is in need of some tranny maintainence. I believe the clutch is slipping and probably needs to be replaced.
Is there a write up anywhere on how to do this? I have seen alot of the Hyundai forums out there as well as the online webtech but I would love to see a write up on this from the driveway mechanic's perspective.
Thanks

I have a Accent 1.3si March 2002, and I have this vibrating sound from the engine when the rev counter gets to 2500-3000rpm.
I have listened under the car and in the engine compartment and all sounds normal, it is only when I am in the car the sound becomes clear. The only thing I can think of is the baffles in the exhaust.
What does everyone think, or has anyone had this problem before

My wife is all ready to pay $1200 to put air conditioning in our 2002 accent. The car cost $5k, so for her it is still a good price for a commuter, and she wants to do it because I come home pretty cranky after a one hour commute in desert heat, in the Summer. The thing is, I've seen these internal evaporative coolers called "Swampy" that appear to work, especially in our dry air, and cost about $300.
I can't find any reviews, but it seems like it would work well enough.

Hi Everyone,
I just purchased a 2005 Accent GSI (Auto) with the 1.6 engine. This is in Canada. I have only put 400km on it but so far i am very happy with it. One thing i have noticed however is when i startup the car it idles at about 1000rpm and outside the car the engine just seems loud to me. The car after being driven for a short distance will then idle at 750rpm and seems a bit quieter.
I am making a comparision with my previous car which was a 2001 Elantra. It would start up and idle at 500rpm and seemed fairly quiet.
Is this just a common characteristic of this Accent engine? It's not a huge deal but if it's not normal i want to get it looked at.
Thanks!

When i put the car drive it make a hard thump almpost like its slipping , and when i drive it , going into second gear it also does a hard thump and sometimes i almost have to floor it just to get it to move anywhere . this just started doing it today ( June 1st ) .
Could that be the transmission going out or could it be the computer ?
" i heard the computer runs the shifting in the transmission , and if it does "
Could it be our computer failing ?
04 Accent , 1.6l dohc , automatic , air conditioning , 4 door and only aroud 5,100 miles and we havent had it a year yet .

Changed engine oil for first time last Sunday, Here's how it went.
1. Jacked up passenger side first, placed a jack stand under sub frame.
2. Jacked up drivers side next, placed jackstand under sub frame
3. Removed oil filter checked "O" ring mating surface .
4. Filled new oil filter with clean oil and installed it on engine to required tightness.
5. Removed oil pan drain plug and let oil drain.
6. Re-installed drain plug and poured in 3.5qts of new oil.
7. Jacked up drivers side and removed jack stand.
8. Jacked up passenger side and removed jack stand.
9. Re-Checked oil dip stick, right on the full mark.
10. Started engine, oil light went out right away, got out to check for leaks, No leaks,
engine idling smoth, no problem.
11. Got back in car to back it out of the garage looking at dash, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT
is on.
Now my question is has this happened to anyone else, does this happen every time I change the oil? The car goes back to the dealer this coming Friday, but I would like to know if this is common. Thanks for taking the time to read this, any input would be helpful, Thanks again.
Oh, does anyone know the secret to resetting the check engine light?

Hi,
I just bought a 2002 Accent/5 speed with 17k. I really like it. However, I noticed some vibration at around 110km/hr. I had the wheels balanced and aligned, and is still there, but to a lesser degree. I notice it less on freshly paved highway, but is still there.
It is also a little noisy at highway speeds, with a sort of oscillating, low-pitched "zsherrr-zsheerr-zsheer" noise. Bad description, but it is lower pitched, and about 3 beats per second.
Otherwise the car is great. Feels snappy, handles well compared to my 88 VW Golf and Nissan minivan!

Hi, I live in El Salvador and I have a Hyundai Accent GL, 1.6 DOHC, Automatic.
The problem is that my car was making 240 Miles per Tank and a week back it started to make just 110 Miles per Tank, I've tried to turn off de O/D and de A/C but it doesn't work.
The check engine light was blinking 3 days ago, but it turned off at the next day.
Do u know what the problem can be...¿?
