Wife just got in from visiting in-laws to tell me that she put the passenger window down on our Matrix and now the thing is open and refuses to come up. The window lock isn't active as I can turn it on and off and use the rear windows with no problems. On the off-chance it might have been the fuse, which it wouldn't be as one fuse handles all the windows it would seem, I switched the fuse for another of the same kind. Nothing. Clutching at straws, I even reset the alarm/immobiliser/remote central locking. Again nothing. I'm now going to have to clear the garage to get the **** car in out of the elements as this has happened out of hours and there's no local service available til Monday at the earliest. Is there a manual override for this thing or am I simply going to have to wait until Monday?
Thanks for your time and attention!
Regards,
John

I have been driving my Matrix 1.8 for abt 2mnth.
For 40 to 45 liter, I manage to get abt 330-340km, both City and highway driving.
I have also try to follow the advise of other matrix user in this forum abt acceleration at traffic lights. I want to know if other matrix 1.8 driver can clock more mileage?

with the AC off its around 7-8 degrees,
I see that it drops 5-6 degrees when turned on does anyone have an explaination for this ?
I know that the more advance it has the better it runs thats for sure !
also whats the Earthing kit that I hear mentioned is there an issue with Grounding or power supply that needs to be addressed ?

My warranty will end in a few days after putting in 35,000 kilometers on my Matrix GL AT and I am not happy with the cooling performance of my airconditioner and the servicing done by my dealer.
2 years into the warranty my airconditioner was not putting out the normal blast of cold air so I brought it in for a check up. The dealer changed the filter located behind the glove box and that seemed to fix it. Now less than one year into that filter, I complained about a whining sound at high setting which my dealer claimed to have remedied with another A/C filter. I found this unusual as my original filter lasted longer. Add to that the cooling was reduced considerably and there is still a whining sound at high speed (No. 4) setting with the outside vent open.
Airflow seems normal but not cooling. I know that summer in the Philippines is horrendous with temperatures hitting 34 degrees lately but I can sense a reduction in cooling performance. My Getz 1.1 and my brother's Toyota Corolla are better at cooling under the same conditions.
I cannot check on refrigerant level since there is no sight glass in the A/C system.
Anybody with a similar experience and recommendations?

Hi all
I have a little question ... When spark plugs become old and needs to be replaced , can these spark plugs affect negatively on the fuel consumption ? my cars mileage is 26000 km and iam expected to replace the spark plugs for the first time at the 30000 km service and I noticed an increase in fuel consumption ...

I own a Matrix Diesel CRDi, about two months ago I started having problems starting the car. They had a look at it and concluded that the glowplugs were not working, at least not all of them. I had them replaced but it still does'nt start like it used too.
The mechanic told me I had to have the engine overhauhled, the reason was when he removed the dipstick for the oil level it started spitting oil which meant high backpressure.
The car has driven 32000 km and was bought april of 2004.
I can't imagine a diesel engine that normally runs 150000 to 200000 km without an overhaul that this one has to be overhauled with only 30000 km. Anybody any suggestions on this. The car drives great, is very comfortable and spacious.

Hi all,
I'm new here, so first of all greetings from a rainy Holland! (wasn't it supposed to be summer??)
My question is about a 2001 Matrix 1.6i GLS. In my dashboard, the warning light of the fuel level is not working anymore. I want to replace it, but have no idea how to remove the console from the dashboard, to be able to exchange the light...
Does anyone of you have an idea how to reach these light bulbs????
Help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks and greetings,
Sander.

Some Matrix owners, they use Tucson's back door rain brush to replace Matrix's. The Tucson's is more good look than Matrix's original back door rain brush.hehe.
See the attached pic of Tucson's bakc rain brush.

What is the difference between Matrix, FC and Lavita ? Am I right that these are the names of the same car ? Or these cars are similar but with minor difference ?

Our Matrix won't start unless it's on a hill. We've brought it to numerous garages who have advised everything from using the spare key, to trying to start it 3 times to driving 30 km with cleaning fluid added to the diesel.
Now the garage thinks it's the ignition needs to be changed (1,000Euro).
Has anyone else experienced this problem? Car works fine once started, and the computer doesn't show up any problems.
Many thanks for any advice.

A very strange problem .... I have a 1.6 manual ride ... at the beginning of the third gear , at speed 40-50 km/hr , I feel like a very weak vibration you could just sense it rarely but it is noticable , a vibration forward and rearward , not left and right , you can't feel it in the steering wheel , but in the car itself , I mean that it has nothing to do with the steering or the suspension , it is something in the engine or the gear box as i think , after exceeding the speed mentioned above , it disappears !!!!!!!!!!! has any one encountered such a problem or a similar one ? does any one know what is its main cause and cure ? Iam in need of help and Iam sure that Iam in the right place to get it ....
thanks in advance ....

Hello...
I'm from Bhutan and I'm driving a brand new 2006 Model Matrix (FC) GL 1.8. I'm glad to be member of this useful forum. When I ordered this car, I didn't go for company manufactured/installed Radio/CD Player since I wanted to buy one from here itself and fit it myself. Looks like my car has the provisions for installing/plug in radio/cd player but I'm not quite sure whether its size would accomodate any off-the-shelf Radio/CD Player from the market.
Also, I would be glad if some of could provide me with tips as to how to do it as well as the music wiring diagram/picture. Need your help and advice.
Happy driving to all.

From Russia with love :-))
Gentlemen, we have founded a club of Hyundai Matrix (Lavita) owners recently in Russia. There are up to 800 members in the club now. One of our crazy :-) current idea is to equip front passenger seat with elbow (arm) rest.
But HMC does not supply necessary parts to the russian market because of Russia's right side driving rules.
So the driver’s seat (with armrest) is at the left side of the car but we need a reverse variant of the armrest. The idea is to obtain the necessary parts for the elbow rest for the front passenger seat from the country market with left side driving rules.
Otherwords- we want to find nesessary parts ftom UK market, as an example, or Australia, etc. Where else we have wrong hand driving :-) OK?
Therefore we would kindly ask you for a little assistance. Please, could you provide us the correct Part Numbers of the armrest of the RIGHT seat (at the right side) of the car, and we hope to concider these Part Numbers will be of the armrest of the LEFT hand.
There are 4 parts to be identified:
1- armrest itself;
2- cap for the axis (or cover) – we think, that we have got the correct number already - CAR-FR SEAT A/REST, INT, LK
Part Number - 88930-17100LK, (check, please)
3- axis;
4- leveling support -fixed support ( looks like the long round nut) which is constantly fixed at one side of the seat for the leveling the armrest.
Looking forward to future contacts.
Wellcome to out club and our country.

hello from Singapore, just finished the 2,000km odometer in 6 weeks drive on the newly acquired Matrix 1.6 Manual. Tried best not to put heavy footing on acceleration and have recorded fuel consumption of about 9km per litre. Would like to hear other matrix owners what are their returns on per litre burning. Is there any solution to improve the FC.
Also feel there is no lag using the 95octane compared to 98octane (for money saving - due to hefty 30-40% increase in fuel price compared few years back)

Hi all ....
I have a 1.6 2005 matrix manual , as far as I know that 1.6 matrix and 1.6 elantra have the same 1.6 engine which is Alpha 2 ....
What is confusing me is how they have different data in case they are the same ? ...
for example .... horsepower for matrix = 104 HP while in elantra it is 107 HP , the power output for matrix is 76KW@5800rpm while in elantra we have 79KW@5800rpm ..... the torque for matrix is 141n.m@4500rpm while in elantra it is 143n.m@3000rpm !!!!!!
How these data are different while it is the same engine ? !!!!
thanks for concerning ......

Hi all ... when i went to the service center the last time i told them to check the rear brakes as i felt that they are much weaker than the front ones ... Every time i press the brake pedal hardly , the front tires snore on the ground but the rear tires don't ....after the servicing i noticed a change in the brake performance and i had to press for a little displacement before i can feel the brake starting to operate , ( before the servicing the displacement was longer ) ... but now after a 1000 km from the servicing , the brakes returned to its previous performance again ... knowing that my cars mileage is about 16800 and the brake pads are the stock ones ... why do you think that the brakes rapidly returned to its previous state ? and why just after they adjusted the rear brakes at the servicing i felt the hand brake became harder ? and in your opinion what can i do to bring the brake performance back to as it was just after the servicing ? Is there any thing i can do it myself ( I mean DIY ) ? thanks for reading and concerning ....

hi all ... i have a question which had confused me alot ... the owners manual of our matrix said that your engine coolant concentration should be in the range of 35 % to 65 % ... then it said that u have to use the engine coolant in 50 % / 50 % mix with water .... iam very confused ... i think that using water will alter the concentration recommended in the manual .... should i use water or just the coolant with range previously shown ?
thanks in advance ...

I really need to know if Hyundai is changing the shape of the Matrix during 2006 / 2007 or not. I want to buy the car as soon as possible but I'm afraid that it would be old shape soon. Please inform me if you have any idea.

Hello All,
I was thinking of adding bumper Guard rails ( Like 4X4 Cars ) at the front and back to protect the car but the Engineer at the Mainteince Center told me not to because any bump could effect the car's chassie. Is it true, could they be more harmfull than safeful.
Does anyone know a good accessories dealer in Cairo for Matrix.
Thanks,

just received my matrix 1.6 M
the petrol comsumption is better than nissan sunny
my miledge is now only 400 and i am clocking about 10.5km per litre shell 95.
my former nissan sunny sucks 9km for 1 litre shell 98
the vehicle is spacious and the driver's view is good!
and i like it when i know the normal saloon car get frustrated behind, as matrix is higher and bigger and would usually block the view of normal saloon cars behind.
great to see so many matrix in spore too!
really change myviews after all the negative comments by so many people who have a prejudice against korean cars !

matrix FL 1.6A.
this is about the aircon in the car.
when aircon is first switched on, the default setting for air circulation is that it draws air from outside the car. i have to push a button to change it to 'circulating within the car'. this is inconvenient and against the norm for driving in singapore climax.
is there a way to change the default to 'circulating within the car'?
i have driven a SDW matrix manual, same setting as this new FL.

I want to put some gauges in my Matrix but really don't know anything about it.
Went around shops & notice there are 'Vacuum, Voltmeter, Water Temp & Techometer' etc.
Checked some cars with gauges - normally there 3 fitted but never notice what there are?
I only know that voltmeter is good for monitoring the batter
