have developed a misfire fault on 1.6 gsi auto 2002.taken to dealer and the misfire was diagnosed, coil pack on cylinder 3 changed new plugs and leads still have fault.
Under load more often than not causes loss of power and management light flashes on and off and normally stays on then it is fine again

frens,anyone any ideas how much i can get for my car?

just recently, due to my matrix need to change the Auto Oil and need to do some routine service, i send my matrix to one of the authorize Hyundai service center near Tmn Connaught, on the last two round their service is ok, although is a bit of expensive, but i think i prefer to treate my matrix better, so i send it in again last few weeks. but i definately make a wrong decision this round.

when send in my matrix after normal services, baceause i heard some sound from my drysup head, so i ask them to inspect, afterthat, they told me that, the eitire drysup was in bad condition, need to change both side (RM635 each , so both side is 1270),and i do ask them to change my baring also, cause when driving on highway, i can hear that the baring is spoil already, safety is always my concern, thus i ask them to change, (that is at 9:00 am in the morning) and i make a very very wrong decision that, i put my car at their center and then i went home to wait for their call, after 9 hours later, i call them up they said is almost done, but when i reach the SC, i saw my car still hang a side and they are like in a rush to close their shop, so they just screw everything back to my car, and said done. everything done.

so i pay about 2k and drive my matrix home happy. next day morning i found a oil leak under my car, and it leak seriously, but the SC didn't open for business on Sunday and monday is a public holiday in malaysia, so i take one day leave on tuesday, and purposly went to the SC again, they said oh sorry they order a wrong part for my drysup it cause the auto oil leaking, how can you believe, a Hyundai authorize service center order a wrong part ???? and force to push that part to my gear box, cause the auto oil leak... i am so angry at that time, (it was about 9:00am in the morning again,) this round i stand beside my car until they fix it for me, unfortunately they took another 8 hours to fix it for me, and is after i keep on cheasing and cheasing them then only they do it. what the F is this. and after they order the part (they said this round is correct , i don't know) fix it for me, they just grap a auto oil from a bottle that on the flr, which have only few auto oil left in that bottle then put it into my engine, because is not enough, the guy just grap another bottle which is Castrol brand put in again, when not enough he grap a toyota bottle 's auto oil put in again, so i have 3 brand mix auto oil, i ask him, how can he do that, i paid previously for a brand new auto oil, but because of their fault, they need to refill the auto oil so they just put all the different auto oil into my car, but they said is the same. F them. i hardly can convience by his bushit. and the worst part is , after one day, i found that, they charge me changing the baring but they didn't change for me. what kind of Authorize Service center is this ??? and some more i found out that they are not only using a non genuine Hyundai part, but they are collecting all the remaing engine oil into one bottle, i don't know what is their purpose.

so if you are malaysian , and live in KL, never never go to this service center, is a cheating SC, i don't know how Hyundai keep their quality with this kind of SC around. does Hyundai really care ????

Hi all.

I have got Hyundai Matrix 1.6 imported from UAE. This is "US version". After last accident it has been repaired in small garage not Hyundai Poland one .
I afraid that grille is not properly mounted. It means there are too big holes between lights and grille plus between grille and flap.

I would have check it in Hyundai Poland but there is almost no Matrix in Poland. So can anybody take some detailed photos of Matrix grille and its adjustment from 2006 model or similar one?

As some of you know , Iam from egypt and I have a 2005 1.6 manual matrix , trim: LT , its mileage now is 35000 km ....
I had a bad frontal collision and i had to change alot of parts , hood , front bumber condenser fan , radiator , etc ...
lets get straight to the point ... I had to change the air conditioning condenser that is in front of the radiator ( as far as I know that its name is condenser , this thing that looks like the radiator but contains the cooling element (fereon) ) , any way , I was surprised when the salesman for the spare parts in hyundai service center told me that they have two types of condensers for that model of matrix , one of them has the part no. ends with 17000 ( the old one ) , and the other one is the new one with the part no. 17001 , he told me that they have the two condensers and that I have to choose one , considering that there is about 30 US dollars difference between the price of the old and the new one .... Any way I bought the new one ( 17001 ) but my question is that does any one know what could be the difference between the two parts ? and howcome that the two parts are present and I can choose whatever I want without knowing the difference ?

My 2001 Lavita is now making a clunking noise when steered either left or right (hard), while either going fast or slow. Seems as if a stiff jerk on the steering wheel causes the whole thing to shift and clunk one time. If I steer hard back the other direction it will clunk back. No vibrating or rattling from the front end.

Any ideas what part is loose or worn?

I'll get her up on a lift when I get the oil changed next and have a look. Any pointers as to what I might look for would be helpful. I'm a new owner of this car.

I own a 2001 LaVita with 100,000 KM on the clock. My transmission has started shifting very roughly from 1st to 2nd. I've checked fluid levels and the filter. My transmission is looking like it will need to be rebuilt or replaced.

Just wondering if many people have had problems with their transmissions with such low mileage and how much either a transmission rebuild or replacement might cost for this car in your neck of the woods.

I expect I might be able to get it rebuilt for about 500 US$ or replaced for about 1,000 (give or take...I actually live in Korea at the moment).

Any info would be helpful so that I might decide to fix or get rid of the car. If these cars are lemons I may just take the loss and move on.

I used h matrix gls 2001.

Today i got problem for my parking/handbrake lamp warning.
After approx 20 min riding, then this brake warning lamp is turn on.
Until i parking it, i try pull and release the parking brake, but this warning keep on.
after couple of hours parking, i try pull/release handbrake and brake warning lamp is quite normal
(on off depend on pull or release the handbrake ).

But after ride for app 20min, this warning start turn on again.
I check the brake oil level, and its look sufficient level, check hand brake switch also normal.
Brake function also normal.

I try searching this forum but not yet found the same symptom,
please help me to solve this.
and is it dangerous thing if let the warning keep on and still ride the car ?

I have a Hyundai Matrix 1,6 GL 5d, and the engine temperature indicator has stopped working. Ive got the signals and all checked, which looks ok, so the panel is broken. Ive aquired a new panel, and need to change it now. Does anyone have any experience with that? Im not sure how to demount the dashboard thats around the panel. It looks like its "clicked" on. But im affraid to brake something when trying to "pull" it off. Any ideas?

My central locking has stopped working suddenly. I have checked the d lock fuse, which was blown. When I replaced this, it popped straight away. Does anyone know what may be the problem?

I recently spent a very wet and windy weekend camping - could the wet weather have gotten somewhere it shouldn't? I assume the d lock fuse is the one linked to central locking?

Thanks in advance for any help (my first posting on the forum so please be nice!) I would like to have a go at trying to fix it myself as the dealer wanted £58 plus VAT to just take a look!

Hi to everyone, I have a 2003 Matrix 1.6l gasoline manual transmission. My transmission/shifter cable broke and my local Hyundai dealer said that since the model is already phased out here in the Philippines parts are hard to come by and they told me that I could wait from 1 to 2 months just for the parts to arrive.
If anyone here knows which car make/model have a similar cable assembly with the matrix maybe I can buy that cable instead of waiting 2 months before it arrives.
Or maybe anyone here knows an OEM replacement part for the shifter cable and where to buy it.

Hi, i'm new to the forum and am posting because my girlfriend is having a bit of trouble with her 2002 Matrix 1.6 GSi.

For a few weeks she's complained that occasionally the engine warning light would flash on and the car would become a bit sluggish when accelerating.

She has just rang me to say that the light is now permanently on, although the car seems to be running ok.

Having had a look at a few posts it seems to be something to do with o2 sensors or ECU connection? I'm not awfully hands on when it comes to cars, but is it easy to look for these items and check connections?

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated as we could really do without a garage bill at the moment.

Just can't wait to share with all my friend in this forum, finally i have my matrix tinted with VKool Vsafety 8mil. i has been searching around in KL, ever since my car was broke in by some one in Cheras Markotha, and my wife lost her beg and all her valuable personal belonging (I know is stupid to let the beg in the car, so now a days never too lazy to be careful, those thief just need few second to break your car's windows. and they don't care about ppl are watching them, but this is another topic la), i start searching around, and join a lots of forum to check which tint should I go for it. price is one of the major consideration that i am putting in. at first i think of going for Suncool, and that is only for heat blocking 80% (the shop claim that la. i don't know is true or not). and it will only cost me about RM 300. but after reading a lot of forum recommendation, i think Vkool is most recommended by a lot of ppl. but the price stop me to go for it, because it is too costly to me, which i can't effort to pay for it.

Just recently, in a morning when i fetch my wife to work, i saw a shop with a very big banner, said Vkool promotion and they give free give (you can choose Garmin GPS, Sony PSP, DVD player or camera), it attracted me, I wend in to the shop and chat with the sales person (I think he is the boss la, but he don't claim that), I am looking for the safety tint film for my matrix, they have plenty of choices from 3mil to 8 mil, price is from RM 1400 to RM 3K+. at first I am just asking cause I never think of go for so expensive tint, and it out of my budget, until the sales person told me that can make an 12 months installment then my eyes is start shinning, cause if with 12 months installment , i can effort up to the range of 8 mil (cost me RM2688). and some more I can have a free Garmin GPS 205 ( I checked the market price, the most cheapest price which can get from Lelong.com or ebay malaysia for this GPS is about RM 720, and some shop in Law Yat even sale it at about RM 900 to RM 1K).

It took me 3 days to think of it, and i even go to Raytech and compare the price, Raytech is about the same price like VKool, their top range of security tint is about RM 2800 8mil tick. but they didn't give free gift. I ask my wife which one and which range should I go for it, and my lovely wife just ask me one question "it depend on how much you love your Matrix lo?", after another day of consideration, i choose the VKool 8 mil (RM2688) cause I really love my matrix so much http://www.hyundai-forums.com/style_images...cons/icon12.gif , and today after fetching my wife to work, I strike away drive my car to the shop and ask them to tint it for me, and it took me about 6 hours for them to install the tint to my matrix, luckily the sales person loan me his car, so that i can go home and wait for them to call me once done. and I told them slow is ok as long as the workmanship is good. when they call me to pick up my car, i was so happy, and finally i saw my car was tinted with the tint film that i dream of it for so long. (so today i got 2 dream come true, tinted my car with Vkool and have a Garmin GPS) one stone kill two bird.

Good day I have a 2003 Hyundai Matrix (la vita) and the alarm goes off randomly especially when you open the doors, and turns its self off after about 30 seconds I cannot disable by remote and Instructions in the manual are useless

Please assist me in the EXACT location of the alarm manual override

I have lavita 2001 , when long driving or A/C on start to be over heated, I changed the radiator but no better. water heated and come out of the radiator,then water level is low. I used to refill the radiator twice a day.please help I want to know what cause heating else than the radiator

I have Hyundai Matrix/Lavita and here is the background...

several months ago my car refused to start in the morning. The alternator just did not start turning.
They checked everything in Repair's shop (fuse box, fuel line & pump) and it turned out to be a crankshaft position sensor/ They replaced it and viola. But, since that time I got another minor issue - When I start car engine remotely (from car alarm remote control) it unlocks central door lock. I checked thoroughly and excluded alarm system malfunction as possible reason. I disconnected the alarm system and the issue is the same. It unlocks the door lock as soon as I switch the ignition on. (The same happens when I start it remotely of course).

And when the ignition is ON, it's not possible to lock doors. For that reason doors don't lock automatically when the car runs over 20 KM/h as it did before. And when I switch ignition, start the car, 2-3 seconds later central door lock tries to unlock doors once again inspite it is already unlocked. Wierd...Maybe it is somehow connected with the previous issue with sensor or faulty actuator..don't know/ Any thoughts/help is MUCH MUCH appreciated. I need to start my car to warm it up in winter without giving everybody access inside ;)

good day to all.this is my very first post upon being a member.i was wondering who can shed light to my problem.i have a 2003 manual matrix 1.6.when i start my car after being parked for say 3hours,it would sound like a cat purring.but when i am already running in the highway and have my ac on,the ticking would start.it makes my car sound like a diesel engine but it is gasoline.but when i park it,let cool down then start again there would be no sound but when i start running again and with ac on the ticking sound would come back.any comments or opinions or diagnosis are welcome.thanks

after tinted my Matrix, the next thing that i want to improve my Baby Matrix is the FC and performance, they are few things that i plan to go for it, after reading a lot of posted topic in this forum.

1) voltage stabilizer (the are few price cheap one is about RM 150 to RM 180, and one of the Hyundai SC recommended me to got for a good one RM 658, they said this is a nano technology . but i think is too costly to me, i think I will go for the RM 150 or RM 180.)
2) change the air filter to K&N (I search around in ebay and lelong.com, it seem like cost me about RM 148)
3) Cool Air Intake (I think is a bit costly too, about RM 150 each, and it needs to install about 2 into the car, according to the Boss in SC, located in somewhere near connoght Puspacom .

so total up I might need to spend around RM 600. in the coming 3 to 4 months. then i think i will bear with my Baby in this condition, unless is needed, else i will just avoid to do anything else. cause my wallet is blooding, still need to pay the car tinted cost monthly about RM 224 X12..

anyone know where can i get the K&N air filter with good price ? i will be very appreciate if you can tell me...

Been an owner of an Hyundai Matrix 1.6 SXI Automatic for five days. Just been to lock the car and found that only the drivers door locks with the key fob. The central locking system is factory fitted and is made by Direct Electronics. The model is MAXX1. I have tried to lock the doors with the key but again only the drivers door locks, when all the doors are locked manually on exiting the vehicle then remote lock the car to lock the drivers dorr and enable the alarm, all fine. I can use the key fob to disarm the alarm and all the door locks open, but again when I try to lock the car only the drivers door locks. Any help out there would be great.

Can someone give me instructions on how to drain matrix (gasoline) fuel tank? thanks

Gentlemen, we have founded a club of Hyundai Matrix (Lavita) owners recently in Russia. There are up to 800 members in the club now. One of our crazy :-) current idea is to equip front passenger seat with elbow (arm) rest.

But HMC does not supply necessary parts to the russian market because of Russia's right side driving rules.
So the driver’s seat (with armrest) is at the left side of the car but we need a reverse variant of the armrest. The idea is to obtain the necessary parts for the elbow rest for the front passenger seat from the country market with left side driving rules.
Otherwords- we want to find nesessary parts ftom UK market, as an example, or Australia, etc. Where else we have wrong hand driving :-) OK?

Therefore we would kindly ask you for a little assistance. Please, could you provide us the correct Part Numbers of the armrest of the RIGHT seat (at the right side) of the car, and we hope to concider these Part Numbers will be of the armrest of the LEFT hand.

There are 4 parts to be identified:

1- armrest itself;
2- cap for the axis (or cover) – we think, that we have got the correct number already - CAR-FR SEAT A/REST, INT, LK
Part Number - 88930-17100LK, (check, please)
3- axis;
4- leveling support -fixed support ( looks like the long round nut) which is constantly fixed at one side of the seat for the leveling the armrest.

My 2003 automatic Hyundai matrix engine vibrates when i accelerate... Anyone can solve this problem?

Recently when driving 2002 1600 automatic huyndai matrix the following occurs - At speeds 50kph or over with or without a/c in use temperature satisfactory. When i have to go 40kph or less the temperature guage soon rises (so far I have kept it out of the red zone, stopping if necessary). This happens most quickly with a/c on but will happen with it of. The engine fan does turn on as required and runs after turning of motor until engine cooler. The pollen filter has been changed and a/c regassed. How do I know if there is a secondary fan and if so how do I know if it is working

My Matrix 02-03 Diesel has developed a strange wobbling sensation when I excelerate. Kicks in around 32-40 mph and is at its worst at 40 in 4th gear.

Have checked tyre balence, but no change. I think it could be an engine mount, but I can see any obvious evidence of this.

Does or has anyone else had this problem. Its driving me nuts!!

I know I'm new to this site, and from the answers i've got from you guys regarding questions I've asked in the past you might be able to help me yet again.
In the UK, the hyundai Matrix automatic has a driver side arm rest bolted onto the seat, which is no problem for me sourcing due to the parts having a part number in the UK.
BUT.
What I need is a supplier of korean hyundai matrix spares so that I can get hold of the passenger (UK) driver (korea) side arm rest as I can't get them from the UK.
does anyone know of a supplier who can speak english and ship to the UK?

And while I'm on the subject of spares, hyundai Korea have a great set of matrix indicator/downlighter wing mirrors of which I'd love to get hold of a pair as they are not standard fit on the UK model, but are on the Korean.
Does anyone know where I can get them from as well.

my matrix fuel consumption is about 33km per gallon (8.75km per liter) my car has automatic gear box and my driving style is to shift at rpm 3 i think there something wrong with my car but i don't know what is it and i hope if any one can advice me how to improve fuel consumption the car had done 14500 km till now and it is year of production is 2008 it is the old shape am sorry if my english language not so well

Hi! I have a 2004 Hyundai Matrix (right hand drive) and am having problems with the central door locks. There is no key fob but the locks are opened/closed via the key in the drivers side door. The locks have a mind of their own and have been making strange noises (like they are opening and closing) even when the car is turned off. I thought I would just take out the fuse - but low and behold there was no fuse in the door lock slot. This occurrance has gotten so bad that it is continusly draining my battery and has forced me to disconnet the batter at night to ensure that I will be able to start the car in the morning. I am not the original owner of the car! One day the hatch was making really loud noises and I managed to take the cover off and unhook the realy. But the noise is continuing and seems to mainly be coming from the drivers side door! Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am living in Barbados, WI, so as you can imagine parts here are really expensive. I really don't care to fix if too expensive but if there is something simple to do to stop the noise that would be great. Thanks!!!!!

We have some Auto Maxi roofbars and are about to fit them to our Matrix, along with a top box. Unfortunately I can't find the instructions for the bars which I know gave a range of suitable gaps between the two bars. Can anyone tell me what the range is please? At the moment the topbox holes set the gap at 67 cms. It's a smallish box so I'm imaging this will be OK but any suggestions would be useful please?

I know there's quite a few "in the know" matrix owners out there, so I'm going to ask this hoping that someone can come back to me with an answer.
I've got a 2005 matrix SE and I'm not happy with the fuel consumption, and also the acceleration from the car.
I know that this is a known issue with the car, but has anyone managed to sort this out so that they can get more miles per gallon and better acceleration?
