I am chasing and aftermarket altenator for my 2002 1.5ltr hyundai getz, one that outputs more amps than the original. I asked my local mechanic and he couldnt source one. Does anyone know where i can get one???

Reason being is im adding a carpc and a second amplifier. The original one is coping fine with current setup for the most part, I measured the voltage with a multimeter and if i put the headlights on high-beam and crank the stereo the voltage drops to about 13.4 volts which is a little low but i dont usually have the stereo cranked on the highway.

just wondering, say im in a gear and i floor it, it goes up to say 4000rpm then drops to 3000rpm then back to 4000rpm and keeps going up. its really annoying!

anyone know why/have the same issue?

i hear it might be the clutch slipping but yeah

I tried to search this forum and some other forums, but found nobody with the same problem so far. I have a problem with the speedometer in a '04 Getz CRDi. The speedometer stops working intermittently: sometimes it works perfectly, some days it doesn't work at first but resumes working after driving a while, and lately it has most often not been functioning at all. Tachometer and fuel meter work perfectly, but the digital clock/mileometer display in the bottom part of the speedometer dial doesn't work either when the speedometer problem occurs.

The solution suggested by the Hyundai service center is to replace the whole instrument panel, which costs about 1000 EUR new. It seems that they have no idea what is wrong. One possibility that comes to mind is that the problem could be not with the speedometer, but a faulty cord or wheel sensor instead, and in that case the very costly replacement of the whole instrument panel wouldn't help in the first place. Any suggestions?

I found a used instrument panel from a 2007 Hyundai Getz CRDi on sale at a car dismantler, with a price tag of 150 EUR. Does anybody know whether that would fit a pre-facelift 2004 CRDi?

This weekend will be the day that ive been waiting for for quite some time.

Im installing NOS in my 2004 Hyundai Getz 1.6.

I guess the title sums it up tbh! There are run-out Getz deals about to be done, and there are a few used Getz's with low klm's going cheap at work, so I'd seriously like to hear some feedback about the pros and cons for each, before I make a decision!!! Bear in mind staff pricing for newbies, cost +$500 for used, hence the dilemma...is the warranty worth it or do I go for a low klm used n risk it?

It has happened twice in the last three weeks the indicators have stopped working, I then put the hazards on and they still did not work, then after about 20 seconds they are working again in this a relay fault,

i no that the standard one has a rubber holder that holds the exhaust on, but can that be one on the left hand side???

Im considering upgrading my stock steel rims to 16" alloys/mags. 2 Questions ...

1. How will this effect the ride and handling of the car?
2. I know that increasing the size of your rims can throw out the speedo and ODO but to compensate you use a lower profile tyre. My Question is, is there a tyre with a low enough profile to allow it to stay accurate, or can the speedo but calibrated?

Many thanks to anyone who can help me with this. My 2003 Getz 1.3 has finally started to let me down after 5 years of good service and 25k miles by become sputtery pulling away, especially in second gear for the past couple of weeks.
Believing it to be dodgy fuel, or oil pressure I've limped on an ignored it, though on a 20 mile journey just now the MIL started flashing, ending up staying fully on as I arrived home.

I gather from what I've read that I need it to be scanned to ascertain the problem, so I can find out what it is, and the light itself could be related to a large number of problems; my first question is though; is it safe to drive to a garage?

It often feels as though its going to conk out by losing power in a jerky, sputter, random power dipping way, though never fully dies;

If I can safely make it to a garage then that would be a start; does anyone have any tales of anything familiar with their Getz? And a ballpark figure of how much sorting it out is likely to cost so I don't get ripped off?!

I've read a few posts on here that after the MIL has come on in a number of vehicles, various garages have charged to supposedly fix the problem, and the owner drives away and the MIL comes straight back on!

Hi I have owned a 2004 Getz 1.3 Manual for the past 5 years it is fairly efficient on the gas returning approx 7.2-7.6 L/100Km (mostly city driving)

I have just bought a 2004 TB 1.3 Auto (Japanese import) for my girlfriend because i have found the manual to be a good reliable economic car.

However I have run 2 tanks of Gas through it since purchase and have got 9.7 and 9.8 L/100km (mostly city driving) meaning only about 350kms form a tank. The car also appears to be well down on power compared to the Manual, i would guestimate about 35% less power.

My questions are:
- What do other people get gas mileage wise?
- Any suggestions on how to improve this mileage or what might be causing the poor consumption?

Any help would be much appreciated.

just bought a 04 getz, changed the battery, now asking for a radio code. searched the forums, and managed to take the stereo out, using x2 steel rulers.
now i need the radio code and how to enter it.

i cant see the serial number, but here is the barcode

The latest thing that has started going wrong, is that the car starts after 2/3/4 tries. I can hear the ignition working but the car won't turn over. After a couple more tries it starts. The last time, I tried a couple of times then had to wait and try again.

Is it the fuel injection system? Is it the engine immobiliser coming on? (I once had to use the spare key, which doesn't work when you press the button, to open the car- in the lock- the car would not start because the immobiliser came on).

I live in the bush, miles from the dealership (which has been less than helpful anyway). Also, have a small child, so driving there and waiting and waiting and waiting, is enough to drive you mental lol. Plus I have health problems that increase in hot weather. I suppose if it's an electronic thing I may have to go there.... *sigh*

Appreciate any info you can give me.

I just bought a second hand hyundai getz 2004 1.6 and when the hot sun is too hot it makes the handle of the inner door sticky coz of melting..How to prevent it and does anyone know whr got sell the chrome 1 or original.I am kl malaysia

I have a 2009 Getz, done about 8000 km.

It started to pop out of gear at light load and it seems to be in Neutral with very little drive.

Just driving along slowly at 50kph, it would jerk badly with a thump, then loose the drive gear. Shifting down doesn't change it.

I step on the gas, it just revs with very little forward movement.

I restart the car, and it's normal for about 5 mins then it happens.

Fluid levels are ok.

Any ideas what is wrong?

i have problem with my clutch when i step on it i felt different i became slightly hard stepping on it not like before its soft and every time i step on it i heard sort of sounds like click... what do i do? do i have to change clutch disk? or etc? hyundai getz 2008 1.1L

This is a bit OCD I know, but when locking my 2008 SX Getz, the indicators (blinkers) have stopped illuminating.
They blink twice when I unlock the car, but nothing happens when I lock it. I can't find any fuse that is causing the issue, so I'm guessing it is a relay somewhere, but where?

Sure, this isn't a big issue, but if anyone out there has an answer that saves me having to go to the dealer, I would appreciate it.

Has anybody been able to remove the positive battery terminal on the getz? I removed the bolt on the top of the terminal but the terminal still seems to be stuck. I even knoked it softly with a hammer, but I am afraid to damage the terminal. The negative terminal is "normal" and easy to remove. I see other posts like this but with no answers how to remove it.

Hope somebody can help otherwise I have to take it to the dealer(stealer)

Hello, I have a 2004 getz 1.1 gsi 48,000 miles. I have recently noticed a knocking noise from the rear near side brake. It only happens when the brake is applied and slows as the car slows as if it is related to the turning of the wheel. i.e one knock for each turn of the wheel. Does anyone know what the problem might be? Is it easy to fix or will I need to take it to a garage?

Twice on Wednesady my wife's 2008 Getz locked the doors when she was outside it. There is no remote central locking, just key operated. The second time the keys were in the ignition and the engine was running (she popped to a friend's front door). Has anyone else had this experince; is it a known issue at all?

Hi, I have bought a Genuine Hyundai Front Foglight Kit for the 2006 - 08 Facelift model which comes with a complete wiring harness. However, most of the wiring appears to be already present in my car but I cannot find where to fit the Relay. Does anyone know where it should be?

I just bought this 2006 hyundai getz just over 3 weeks ago, there always seems to be something wrong with it! Yesterday my sun visor just snapped off , is this covered under warranty? I looked in the warranty book but it says nothing about this - nor nothing about the engine. only such thins as mud flaps etc.

I am pretty new to Hyundai. I own a GETZ crdi 1.5 VGT. This car is really awesome but sometimes the turbo lag is pretty much. I am not sure about the quality of diesel used in India, however experts suggested cleaning up of the air filter frequently helps the mileage as well as the performance.

How to clean the air filter, can it be done by ourselves instead of taking the car to the experts?

The central locking of my car is operating only now and then, just now not. Some time again it started to operate without any actions from my side, some weeks later it was dead again.
I would like to look inside this problem, but I don't have any documentation of that system. It's a Getz 1.4 litre, 2003 model.

Been looking around the forum for info on the new IX35-Tuscon .

So I thought I would stop in here to say the Getz is a little ripper of a car .
I got mine with 110,000km's on it and its never broken down ,or missed a beat , starts up every day and I travel 140km round trip to work and back ,really really really good on fuel and just keeps going .
I have sent $300 on parts in 3 years ,some thing wore out at 200,000km in the front wheel ,it had a little wobble ,got it fixed with its service.
I have a base 2002 model and it stll looks brand new in side ,sure the thing has just plastic every where ,but its unmarked and not faided ,paint is still good ..no rust and I live ON the beach ,no rattles and squeaks.

Anyways ..so yeah ,if your looking at a Getz ,its a GREAT little car ... ,get them to fold the seat up fully ,It's a HUGE area ,bigger than most wagons to carry stuff...thats what sold me on the car .

Funny story ....a mate come home from 10 years over seas ,and we spent all day driving around in my getz looking at new and used cars and after 8 hours ,he said take me to the Hyundai dealers ,he walked straight in to the dealers seen a salesman sat down and said to me ,tell this guy what car you have I want the same .

I hope one of you can help me with this issue as I need my car for work. I blew my AC fuse last night and I'm not sure what happened. My cluster isn't coming on, clock isn't coming home. Have checked all fuses and replaced them ALL. Still no go, car will turn over as if dead and trying to start but battery still has it's will 12v charge. I'm running quite a heavy audio system. Never had this issue before but seems to have killed my car. Any ideas on what would be causing this to not start but turn over?

Are there any fuses I can check or any reason cluster / clock wouldn't work?

hay does any one know any websites for manuals for pulling the motor out, as in my sisters gets her pick up got blocked and the pistons had a party =[ so as a apprentice i gotta do it and it looks like there is no room for my hands so was wondering if there are any info how to do it. also where about in melbourne would there be a wreckers to get a decent motor. please help a poor 3rd year apprentice =p

Car Hyundai Getz 1.3 GSI, 2004 model

My car occasionally plays up with erratic engine warning light on, jerky movement and lack of power/acceleration; especially at low revs going up hill. Long motorway drives seem to clear the problem for a while but as its erratic, then that might be coincidence. The local garage I use have a Bosch Diagnostic unit which gives the fault codes P0300 and P0320 (erratic firing). They've changed the fuel filter, the plugs, HT leads and I'm still no further forward to getting the problem fixed. I'm tempted to go to my nearest Hyundai dealer to see if they can fix it but what I can't believe is they claim that the supposed genuine Hyundai Diagnostic unit will give more information than what I've got already. Clearly they want to charge for the privilidge!

Does anyone know if this is the case or not?

I anticipate that they'll start by changing the coil pack and oxygen (Lambda) sensor like my local garage is suggesting. Should I try to change these myself first to save myself labour costs or do I go with the Hyundai garage? Incidently, the exhaust colour looks OK; maybe just slightly darker than ideal but no obvious carbon build up

I've had this problem with my Getz for a while. With the fan switch off and set to blow air from the face ducts (or whatever they're called) I do not get air blowing through the ducts when the car is stationary. However, as soon as the car starts moving, air starts blowing through the ducts, with more air being blown the faster I drive. Now, I recently replaced the radio in the car which involved removing the glove box and the panel underneath the steering and I can't help but feel that now the problem is even worse.

What do you guys think could be the cause of this problem and how could I fix it?

I just got my getz 2 weeks ago and it still has 7 months left under the hyundai warranty then the warranty is being taken over by the dealer. I just want to know is there anyway i can find out what things are covered under the hyundai warranty as there are a few things wrong with this car , and im just hoping they are covered under the warranty!

i checked the small pipes under the hood they look connected, and cleaned the tiny holes on the hood with a small clip

I've got 2009 Hyundai Getz SX. While I can stream music from my iPhone to the car audio, I can't control it (neither pause/play nor anything else). Have tried iPod, Blackberry and couple other mobiles - no luck.

Is this even possible with Hyundai car radio ?

I can't find instructions anywhere on how to re-enter the code for my 2007 Hundai Getz Stereo. After replacing flat battery I noticed the stereo no longer working. I have several codes that I think are the correct codes (stuck onto manual) but I need some instructions on how to enter them. I have found an answer on how to enter the codes for an older MP3-1 model but it is totally different to the MP-3. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My Hyundai Getz interior light has stopped working, I have changed the bulb, (new one) did nothing - still not working
Checked the fuse in the yellow cage - ok,
Even took down the interior light to check the wires are ok. Yep fine!
any ideas?

My boot light works when I open my boot, my clock works, door open light, etc as well as everything else.

Any help would be really grateful as now i am fed up of trying!!
