Just wanted to let everyone in the SoCal area know about the event coming up on June 20, 2009.
Sun Automobile will be sponsoring a drift event, called Dai's Driving Academy 2. For those that were at the first one you know how it will all go down. For those who don't, we will be having a drift day with instructors. If you want to work on your drifting or just want to get out on the track for a day, make sure you check out Dai's Driving Academy 2.
We will also be demonstrating the QuickAIR X Compressor and CO2 tanks that day for those that want to try it with air tools or fill up your tires for the track. Just stop by the Sun Automobile tent and we'll be glad to help you out.

Well I bought a used 2006 Sonata 6 months ago I really loved it in the beginning until 3 months ago when I started my car there was a noise it sounded like something was grinding. I took it to the dealer they said it was normal, they could do a oil change and that should quiet the noise. The noise got louder. they called in the regional inspector to listen to it. Well he came in and listened to it and now I am being told this is a normal noise, that I now have to deal with because there is no mechanical problem according to them. They call it a "characteristic" and since there is no mechanical failure they will not correct the problem. Although the car never made the noise when I bought it. I bought a new car to have it not sound like a piece of junk, the looks I get when starting a very nice car is like WOW what a piece of junk. The 2005 to 2008 Sonata's all make this noise, so I am being told now. So needless to say I will be down at the dealer this weekend asking them how much they will give me for my car that sounds like the engine is going to blow any minute when I start it. I know for sure I can't get top retail value for it, as soon as I start the car for an interested buyer and they hear that noise and I tell them this is normal and I have a piece of paper that states this is normal for this car they will laugh in my face and walk away. I am now stuck with a $14,000.00 car that the value I am sure just decreased buy $10,000.00. I wonder how this engine was able to be tested and pass inspection on the production line at the plant and make it in the vehicles without this being disclosed to the unsuspected buyer. I would like to hear from anyone with a 2005 to 2008 Sonata V6 who is currently having or had this problem. With this piece of paper I am being told if there is mechanical failure with the timing chain or tension pulley they will fix it as long as it is within the warranty period. I am sure the problem won't arise until 100,000 miles just as the warranty runs out.

Speed Ventures has two big track day weekends coming up. On September 20 and 21 they're
running the Full Competition Course at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana (formerly Cal
Speedway). This is the "Roval" track layout with Turn 1 and Turn 2 of the Super Speedway
banked and linked to the Infield Road Course. It's a split morning and afternoon
schedule so you can drive in the morning and still have your afternoon at the beach or
sleep late and drive the afternoon sessions, or both.
On Saturday the 20th at Auto Club Speedway, there's a designated low car-count run group
for high value vehicles (Ferrari, Lambo, other Supercars, etc.). Half as many cars on
track, strict passing rules but with a max of 17 cars in the group, tons of wide-open
track.
The weekend after that there's a 3-day at Buttonwillow (Fri/Sat/Sun Sept. 26-28) with a
different course configuration on Saturday (the high-speed 18a configuration). For the
Buttonwillow event, Aaron is still offering group discounts to drivers who can bring in
at least 5 registrations.
Both of these events are selling well and some run groups are likely to sell out soon.
Info on both events can be found at www.speedventures.com.

If you've got sick days coming to you, make this Monday, February 25th one of them because Speed Ventures is at Laguna Seca. The weather looks perfect for a day at the track (dry with sun and clouds) and there are plenty of open spots. Of course, with our limited car counts, that means loads of wide open track. Register on the website (www.speedventures.com) by Sunday at noon or show up at the track Monday morning in time for our 8am drivers meeting.

Hey alright, I'm the first to post in this new forum. I would also like to think that the creation of region specific forums was because I had brought it up in another post.

Although I should have just plain suggested it in the suggestions forum, but to tell you the truth, I hadn't even thought of it.
Anyway, I'm a soldier currently stationed in Washington, originally from Oregon, and currently on deployment in Iraq. Just wondering if there are any other Hyundai enthusiasts located on the west coast in these forums.
Can't wait to meet some cool people, and check out all your rides. Mine is currently a little ghetto though, still got the stock rims without the hubcaps on.

Can't wait to get some real rims.
Anyway, this post is almost pointless. Just wanted to be the first to write something in here. Now I feel special.
Later.
