Alright. So i've done a little date searching to avoid any meet conflict with other sites, and i'm going to throw Saturday, June 13th out there as the day for this. Looking to do a pot luck/BBQ thing here. Everyone brings something and we chill, eat and check out some rides. Plenty of stuff to do, plenty of parking and free to get in. It's Northfield Dam on rt. 254 in Thomaston, CT. Swimming, fishing, volleyball, horseshoes and a pavillion should the weather decide not to fully cooperate.
Going to get out there and snap some pics once the park opens up for the season to give everyone an idea of the layout. I know it's 4 months away, but wanted to see what kind of general interest I can get going for this to make sure it would be worthwhile. This is going to be for EXD,CH, Elantra Club, Hyundai-Forums, NT and the members of F.A.R.T, so hopefully we can score a decent turnout!
Here's a link for those of you that may be interested.

lovemysantafe and I are going to be meeting up at Geno's steaks on May 6th at 7:30. We are probably going to grab some food and then go to a parking lot since there really isn't much room down there. We have one other person possibly coming from Delaware. Anyone is invited. If anyone is interested please let us know.

Just wondering if anyone is here from upstate, NY (Rochester area)? Hyundai Aftermarket.org is planning a couple of dealer meets in about a month, and we also have a plant tour set up at Hyundai USA. There will be a caravan of Hyundai's meeting up and going. If anyone is around in this area, and wants to meet up...let me know or put your name down on the caravan list to meet up at Hyundai Aftermarket.org.
Thanks!

Hello,
Quite Frankly I've never owned a Hyundai, but as soon as the Genesis was released I was immediately drawn to it.
Surely, a lot of my friends experienced this too!
So given my lack of experience with Hyundai... I really need some advice here!
I'd like to stay local near the Butler area. I've been looking into this dealership,
Mike Kelly Hyundai although they do seem pretty nice and I have to admit that I love the little leprechaun they have as their mascot (haha), I would still like to get some feedback from other Butler residents that have bought their cars here.
Additionally, what should I do to get the best deals? etc.
Well Thanks in advance!
Post Script: I'm going to cross-post this in the Genesis section to see if I can get a better chance at responses because I need advice pronto!

I will be importing my 2008 Elantra SE to Canada within the next few months, and I have learned that I will need to have DRL's enabled to register the car.
Since both Canadian and US Hyundai's are built in Korea, is the US market Hyundai already pre-wired for DRL's? Do I only need to buy a module and "plug n play" so to speak.
Any info, on how I can get DRL's to work would be great. I don't want all the lights to be on, i.e. dash, rear, side markers. Just low intensity high or low beam headlights.
Thanks

Greetings fellow Hyundai hypermilers. For those of you located in the northeast, the Adirondack Motor Enthusiast Club
A.M.E.C. will be holding a Fall Foliage "Economy Run" coming up this October 5, 2008.
A little history: A.M.E.C. held it's first Economy Run back in 1954. Now 54 years later with record high fuel prices, the club decided to bring the event back. Our members created a new course and the event took place this past August 10th. It was very well received and was thoroughly enjoyed by all who participated. Results can been seen
here. It was a good dry run to make sure everything went smoothly and that our laptop excel program worked properly to calculate the results. We enjoyed it so much that we have planned an "Economy Run II" and this time would like to open it up to like minded individuals who would like to join us. To keep it easy to manage and fun we will limit registration to the first 20 entrants.
Here are the details:
What: Fuel mileage contest through the southern Adirondacks of NY. The route will be on some really nice scenic and challenging roads and will run 106.3 miles in distance. Your “economic” driving ability will be tested. Cars will be filled with fuel by an AMEC official and then weighed on electronic scales. Small ramps are employed for easy on and off of the scales. Any street legal vehicle is allowed to participate, [including motorcycles].This event will run rain or shine.
Where: The starting spot will be at the Fairway Oil gas station on Route 5 in Fonda, NY. [directions below].
When: Sunday, October 5th, 2008. Arrival time will be 8:00-8:30am, first car off at 9:00am. They have gas and diesel and have a large enough parking lot that we won’t be in the way. (They also don’t use ethanol, if that makes a difference to anyone.)
Cost: $10 per vehicle
Awards include:
1. Best overall mpg for gas cars
2. Best overall mpg for diesel and hybrid cars
3. Best ton-mile per gallon [TMPG] vehicle weight in pounds, divided by 2000, times miles driven, divided by gallons consumed. A handy calculator is
here.
4. Best carbureted mpg
5. Best miles per dollar. [Based on the actual cost to travel the 106 miles. For example, we had a diesel VW Jetta get 56 mpg and a Dodge Avenger get 48 mpg. Because the diesel fuel was about a dollar more per gallon than the gasoline, the Avenger won this contest.]
Note: If we get more than one motorcycle we will add a class for them.
Awards: This event will conclude about noon, and our plan is to proceed up the nearby Checkers Out Go-Kart track for lunch, awards, and optional indoor go-kart races if you so desire. Checkers Out Speedway is an indoor go kart track open year round, and is located about ¾ of a mile south of Johnstown, NY, on NYS Route 30A. Physical address: 2299 State Hwy 30A Johnstown, NY 12905. Track phone: 518 736-4630
Directions: to Fairway Oil gas station: Take NY Thruway Exit 28. After the toll booth, turn left onto Riverside Drive. Then turn right onto South Bridge Street and go over the bridge. On the other side of the bridge is a traffic light. You can see Fairway Oil and Gas on your left. Turn left onto Route 5 and enter the station.
To register for this event: Please contact Mike Kamm at (518) 674-0520 or via email: mkamm [at ] juno [ dot] com. Or just simply reply to this thread with your name, year/model car. There is also a message board thread regarding this event on the A.M.E.C. message board
here.

Hello there fellow members of HF,
As per the tittle; I am planning a trip from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada to Montréal, Quebec, Canada through the state of Maine.
Why? Cheap fuel, been to Montreal and back throught New Brunswick at least 25 times in the last 24 years. Willing to leave some hard earn canadian bucks in the USA!!! Different route different trees different vilages....Need More?
OK! Now, I have travel the old #9 from Calais to Bangor and the 95 before.
But from the 95 to the custom post in Coburn Gore is where I need my infos.
I was once on the ME27 from Coburn Gore to Sugarloaf Montain Ski Resort but that was about 30 years ago, as a teenager on a bus with the ski club.
So, here is my route.
Off the 95 at exit 157 (Newport) to SR-11,
to US-2 (Main Street) through Palmira and Cannan,
to US-201 (Madison Ave) in Skowhegan,
to SR-148 (White School House Road) through Madison,
to US-201A (SR-8) in Anson,
to SR-16 (Elm Street and Lexington Street) through North New Portland,
to SR-27 (SR-16) in Kingfield; through Carrabassett, Bigelow (Sugarloaf Montain) and Eustis,
to custom post in Coburn Gore.
About 173 Kms ( 103 Miles) of road of which I know nothing.
I have used Microsoft Street and Trips 2007 to get this route.
What I need to know is; any gas stations, restaurents and hotel on this route?
And if you are a resident close to the mentioned route, what do you think of it.
Thank you all who will give me valiable infos.

Attention all car enthusiasts! Autokrats will be holding a "Back To School" meet on
Sunday August 12th at 7PM. The meet will be a simple get together for many of us who are longing for one last large meet before school starts up in the fall. If you haven't heard about us we are a car club out of Columbia, MD founded in 2004 out of River Hill High. Since January of 2005 we have been promoting the gathering of all automotive enthusiasts from around the area for large monthly meets in order to spread automotive unity. In November of 2005 we held our largest meet yet of 350+ cars. We are hoping to meet if not exceed this number for this meet, help us do so!

Ok everyone I am looking to put on a car show. I am tired of seeing shows of classic cars. Its time to show off our Hyundais so I am putting together a car show on March 4th in Bayside, NY (Queens) about 2 blocks from the Clearview Expressway.
Like I said it will take place on Saturday March 4th at 2PM. So if you work try to get off early or hey just take the day. Would love to have as many Hyundais as possible. Doesnt matter if its stock. Want as many as we can. Doesnt matter what type of Hyundai you have as long as its a Hyundai.
So if you can make it that would be great. I will post up more info as soon as I find out the exact street that the parking lot is located.
If your interested in attending please post up.

Hi One and All:
Just had our first storm here in Rochester, NY and found that the tires P215/60R16 are totally useless in snow. I had originally guessed as much but had to experience for myself.
On my previous 2006 Elantra I ran P195/60R15 snow tires and was wondering if I could get 15 inch rims for my Sonata and run them or should I stay with 16 inch rims and get new snow tires??
Any thoughts??

Hello everyone, I may be new here but I was wondering if anyone may be interested in a Late Summer Carshow in New Jersey for all Hyundai's
QUOTE("From Newtiburon.com")
Here is my proposal,
Instead of trying to get everyone out and about at different times this summer I believe I have a solution.....One set day that has some sponsors/BBQ and Fun for everyone......
Now I know this has been tried and failed over and over but I'm sure this one might work.....
Location: Tunersville Auto Mall
When: (whenever we agree to but more likely in August)
Who: Anyone and everyone who has a Hyundai but more likely Tibs.....
Here is what I would like to do......Upon a recent trip to the Turnersville Auto Mall for my work this past Saturday, May 6th, I noticed that Nissan was having a car show for their owners but most of the vechiles were Nissan Titan's that were customized. Now I didn't realize this but they used the employee parking lot to hold this and there seemed like there was a decent turnout.....
So, I got to thinking, Why not for Us.........Why not talk to Hyundai and See if they would want to have some sort of BBQ for us......
Now before I go and present this to anyone at the Auto Mall I want to get a survey of how many people could and would want to do this during this Summer.......And I would like to see some other Hyundai's Show up as Well.......I also know my Budget is a little tight but I'm also going to try and get some local sponsorship help as well so let me know if you are interested cause I'm going to need some help......
Just post if you want to be a part of this and Lets try to find out by the end of this month so I can get things going..........
Jeff
So if you are interested please post or pm me.........
BTW: if anyone knows of any companies (aftermarket or Hyundai Tuners) that might be interested in showcasing some products, just post their website of a phone number or email address for me to send them a message......Jeff

You might not be aware of it but the Adirondack Motor Enthusiast Club [A.M.E.C.] had been ice racing on the frozen lakes of upstate eastern NY for 41 years. We run on custom plowed 1 to 1.5 mile road courses. Our most popular class is the Bridgestone sponsored
Street Legal unstudded class that runs on the excellent Bridgestone Blizzak winter tires. Check us out at
icerace.com for more info.

All you need is a Snell 95 or better helmet, a fire extinguisher and a number on your door! It's just $45 a day for 70 minutes of seat time! Ice Racing is clearly the best kept secret in all of motorsports. We have a very strict "no contact" rule in effect. Come and sharpen your winter driving skills and have the time of your life doing it! Cars only, no SUV's. Tiburons, Sonatas, or Accents, bring 'em out!

The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) Rally Club presents:Rallycross! When: September 10th, 2005 (Saturday)
RallyRPI is presenting its Inaugural RallyCross Event catering to everyone who has any interests in rallying, off-roading, and sports of the like. The purpose is to bring back the sport and spirit of rallying to the Upstate Region and provide an inexpensive avenue for amateurs to participate and the pro's to practice for the next Stage Rally Event.
This is their first event and Washington County Fairgrounds [in Greenwich, NY] is gracious enough to help them with the financial situation. The most important thing right now is to reach the break even point for the first event, and if everything goes well the price will eventually drop and the number of events will go up. Trust them when they say they're non-profit.
Check their website
HERE Please check it out and
EMAIL them (or reply to post) for any questions what so-ever regarding this event. They're looking for at least 30 early registrants or else the chances of this event happening might be slim. So far they've got 22. Please spread the word around and get this going! They promise it will be BIG and Enjoyable to all once everything gets on track. Help them make this happen.
Info:
Registration $55/Car
Operation is Non-Profitable and based on meeting minimum event cost
Normal Registration Amount may change depending on Early-Registration Outcome
Condition:
Flat, 100% Grass & Dirt, Fair Parking Lot
Rules& Classes: Expect at least two classes: 2WD and 4WD
I'd
love to see some Hyundai's out there to offset the sea of Subarus. C'mon let's show 'em what our Hyundai's can do!
For Mapquest directions here's the address:

Date: Sept. 24th
Time: 12 Noon.
Place: Towson Town Center, MD and Hanover, PA@ Speedway 94
What I have planned is this: A few people expressed and interest in part of a meet doing a cruise somewhere much like what was done on Sat. meet in MD. So, at noon we will all meet up at Towson Town Center in...Towson, MD. We will hang there for a bit, for some sitting vid and pics. From there we will drive north to HANOVER PA. This drive is about and Hour and covers some serious Highway action. I thought an hour was enough to get all the footage your hearts could want. The Highways are 2-4 lane roads, so plenty of room to get more tibs than just the one in front of ya! Once in Hanover we will be Going to the Speedway 94 Go-Kart track.
http://www.speedway94.com/ Once there we can all get even more crazy on the tracks with someone elses car to bang up! I hope to see you guys there!
