Hi all,
When I pulled the glove compartment out of my 1992 Hyundai Excel GLS I discovered
a round plug (somewat like a PS/2 plug on your comp, but with more pins); can anyone
tell me what it is and what it's for (besides hanging around -- see Picture 1)?
Also, on the console there are two buttons for fog lights and rear windshield heating, but
when...

I need some help, the engine lost throttle control and would only idle. till the key was turned off. after that i could crank the engine over but no start. since then i have checked the ecu for codes. no abnormal codes. just the normal ecu code, high/low. i do not have a multiuse tester, so i probed the connector with my analog multimeter. i have since been chasing my tail, mighty fast too, ...

Hey all,
Can someone please help me. I am looking for what the brake band in the 4 speed auto is on a 1994 X3. I have just put a new band in if there is any difference.
Also, if anyone is looking for parts on one of these boxes, let me know as I can source parts quite cheaply.

I know my excel doesn't have an stand alone IAT sensor and that it is built right into the MAF sensor. My question is which wire is the one for the iat signal because my friend gave me a zero gravity module. the module is suppose to distort the signal going to the computer and telling it the air is colder than it actually is (it claims more hp) we will see.

Hi everyone, had a strange experience with my Excel today: after driving it to the shops I came back to the car to find coolant all over the floor under the car. On investigation the coolant bottle was overflowing and the coolant had leaked from the overflow. This is odd because just the other day I filled the reservoir, but only up to the FULL line, so I cannot understand why it overflowed. ...

Hi all,
Firstly, thanks for taking the time to read this.
My Hyundai Excel 1996 runs fine. However, on a semi regular basis the engine will just lose power and then resume as normal. It happens at anytime. I.e. Cold, warm, freeway or backstreets etc. I can have my foot to the floor and the engine does not respond. Before you comment on the throttle position sensor, it's...

I have a 1992 Hyundai excel that I have taken care of for almost 12 years. I have no major complaints, amazingly. So what I have is when I start the car in the morning it runs just fine, however when I back up out of the driveway the idle lopes or seems to want to almost stall. It does it regardless of whether or not I have lights on or not. I also drive down the road and as soon as I let off the...

The story starts when i get home from basic training. My car wouldn't start but cracked. I completely changed the electrical system including coil and all. Nothing. Then i learned that my ECU was fried. I visited a junkyard and got another ECU only probably was my stock ECU was a Z29 and they gave me a Z31. It worked for awhile, then I started to get a lack of power in the engine. I can...

Hi there, we bought a 98 Excel twin cam with 130,000km on it not long ago. It has a noise in the engine that I thought was the hydraulic lifters, (HLA's). I am a trained mechanic looking for some helpful advice before I make a decision as to what to do, (whether to pull the engine apart or buy a 2nd hand motor). The noise is like a rattle or a tapping and it gets faster/slower with engine...

I recently had my (up until now) very reliable 91 hyundai excel die on me. I took it to a shop and they took a week to fix it-- and end result was it just needed a tuneup. The original problem was that it would start up, but then die out when i gave it any gas. They fixed that fine-- that was a week ago.
I tried to start it up this morning and the engine just turned about 10 times. ...
