Hi,
Over the weekend my 2004 Santa Fe hesitated and made the check engine light come in when leaving a stop sign; this resulted in a lock out from 1st gear and was kinda like starting in second on a manual only I have an automatic.
The car is naturally 3 weeks out of the 3 year warranty and Hyundai made a "Gesture" and covered the $198.00 part (output speed sensor); I had to pay the 1/2 hour labour plus $89.95 for a code read and clear at the dealership.
So, all should be well right? Wrong the light is back on again..... I am a bit peaved to say the least.
According to the job report it quotes codes P0720 and P1500.
Any ideas??? Anyone had anything similar happen?
Thanks in advance,
Kryspy

I hope somebody out there can help me. I have a 2002 Sonata V6. I am about 160,000 miles. I have a problem which is getting progressivly worse. I can set my cruise control and a short time after, the cruise shuts off. Now I noticed it will do it when I hit a bump. But it will even do it with a minor dip in the road or bump at expressway speeds. But then I can hit a serious bump and it won't shut off.
My car is running very good. I don't think it is due to a laboring engine. I do not have any trouble codes. There are times I can't even push the set button to turn on the dash "Set" light. It will blink on then off like it has been disengaged. (I am not talking about the power switch by the left knee but the button on the wheel and the light by the speedo.
Any ideas? I did some searches here and on other forums and could not find similar situations. I don't know if it is a fluke or what.
a while back, when it did not happen as often. I set the cruise and gave the steering wheel a pound. that did not deactivate.
I tapped the brake pedal without engaging the brake, and that did not deactivate it.
I am thinking it has to do with a brake switch issue?

This only happens in the mornings or after my car has sat for a while (9+ hrs)...it seems my car hesitates when I put my foot on the gas pedal after I put it into Drive from Park. After a few seconds, the car jerks forward and the gas feeds and everything is fine the rest of the day...until the next morning. I went to the Dealer on Friday AND 4 hrs + $530 later, I still have the problem the next morning. I paid $530 for Transmission Flush, Engine Decarb., and new belts (V-ribbed, power steering, and belt V)...I'm a poor college student and I can't spend too much more!!! Any ideas on what could be wrong so when I take it back to the shop I can tell them? THANKS!!!!!!!
The dealer did the AT transmission flush (which at 46k, i had no idea whether or not it was dued), replace all the belts (which probably was needed), and did the Decarb. No idea about the computer diagnostics though. Anyway, when I put my foot on the gas in the morning, the car does rev and if I take it out of Park into Reverse/Drive, the car WILL move. It is when I step on the gas at this point that nothing happens for a few seconds THEN it lurches forward then everythings fine. Huge problem is, I live in the city and have to parallel park meaning getting out of my parking space is dangerous when my car does not respond to gas right away. I tried the pressurizing trick (key to "on" for a few seconds before going to "start"), but it didnt help.

I have a 1997 Elantra DOHC and intend fitting a managment system or chip to tune her. I have a performance branch and freeflow but I want to Dyno Tune and can only do so by fitting a chip bcoz of the electronic distributor.
Is dyno tuning advisable and what is a suitable chip that will do the trick for a reasnoble price.

OK, as i've stated before I don't know alot about cars. I hear that installing a new Air Intake will make my car get better mileage and run better. I know what and where the air intake duct is...., how would I install a new air intake for my 96 Accent and where's a good place I can get one? Also is there any other great easy things I can modifiy to make my car run better in anyway?

My Accent is a purpose built rallycross car. Rally America rules allow for racing cats to be used anywhere in the exhaust where a 5% temperature gain can be measured inlet to outlet. So everybody basically slaps a racing cat where the muffler is to comply. It appears to me that the stock exhaust manifold and the cat are all one piece, is there any way to separate the two?

I just found out that my ride (Trajet) c/w 2 Cat Converter. Howabout the rest of the models? !st one is at the Exhaust header, the 2nd is at the center. Was thinking of taking out the 2nd Cat so that the restriction will be reduce thus performance may improve. There's no 02 sensor at the 2nd Cat...What do you think guys?

Hello everyone,
This is my first post, I want my 2002 Accent GL 1.6L DOHC to get a engine swap I need more power and would like to put a turbo kit on the new motor. I have the stock AT transmission someone told me a first gen. eclipse w/turbo would work but the turbo engines only come in MT..... So if anyone has a relatively easy engine swap even if I need to swap the trans I dont mind but it will have to be an AUTOMATIC trans. Any ideas will help me out a whole lot any questions for me I will be glad to answer my brother is a hyundai mechanic until this Sunday then he is going to start on jaguars.
Thanks for the help guys / girls

Hi all, I was looking through the Shark Racing catalogue a while ago and came the voltage stabiliser and ground wire kit for the Elantra. I've read about similar kits from Sun Auto in Japan and the benefits they, but I'm sort of sceptical as to whether there would be any measurable benefits for a J2 Lantra with the 1.8L Beta I motor.
So, has anyone tried these? If so, would they be worthwhile or would I be better off getting something else with my money?

As with most of our rides, the Cat Converter is located at the Exhaust outlet/Manifold thus creating alot of heat in the engine bay as well as bottleneck for the outlet. By relocating the Cat to the bottom helps? This way, may reduce the heat/temp in the Engine bay as well as to clear the bottleneck, what do you guys think? Workable?

ok my buddy has a stock 2001 cavalier z24. i raced him with my 00 tib (i got intake and exaust) and he whooped me. now this is killing me because he whooped me in all aspects. we both got auto trannys and off the line his tires were squilling, mine wernt. also on the hwy i had a 5 kmh lead when we both floored it and he caught me and passed me before we hit 140. So i got online and checked the states of his and my car. they are
the cav has a 2.4L 150hp engine with 155 lbs Torque. The weight is 2700 lbs.
My Tib has a 2.0 L 140 engine with 133 lbs torque. the weight is 2633.
Now That is stock so i dont know what i got with my intake and exaust maybe 5-10 more hp. So the hp is pretty similar and my tib is lighter so it must be the torque right? Is that what is lighting up his tires? Trust me ive tried the tib just will not even chrip. or could it be the bigger engine in the cav that is just pushing it harder? im thinking its the torque. if so what could i add or modify to increse torque?
Now i do have a zex dry system almost installed and i know that will kill him but im talking about some n/a tuning without using my zex. What about a bigbore throttle body? would that add torque if that is the problem ofcourse.
Thanks axe

Hi, I don't know much about car tuning so perhaps this question may be kinda silly. I want to get some extra HPs from my Sonata, so I'm planing to install a cold air intake. Is it possible to install one in a Sonata? I was surfing the web and I only found intakes for the Tiburon, is it possible to adapt them?. Thanks.
