I'm just charging shipping to help cover the costs of the mailing materials to protect the decals.
If you'd like any extra services like tracking, or whatever, let me know in the PM you send.
Paypal is my preferred method (and the fastest). I suppose I would also accept checks if it's really needed, but if you bounce a check expect to get flogged on the board.

I don't know what it is but I seem to be a target for people who like to talk smack about Hyundais. Usually I'm able to get them to understand that they're darn good cars but every now and again I get the type who pretty much says, "You're an idiot and have no idea what kind of car you're driving." And it's usually ignorant people who haven't been paying attention and automatically assume Hyundai is still cranking out 1986 Excels with an unchanged quality level.
I know Toyota and Honda were viewed as crap when they first came to the states in the '70s but when is Hyundai going to get their well-deserved recognition?

Hyundai, Chrysler in talks as GM pulls out: sources

NEW YORK/DETROIT (Reuters) - South Korea's Hyundai Motor Co has had talks with Chrysler LLC owner Cerberus Capital Management about a potential acquisition of the U.S. automaker's Jeep brand and possibly other assets, people with knowledge of the talks said on Friday.
The emergence of South Korea's largest automaker as a potential bidder for at least part of Chrysler comes on the same day General Motors Corp said it shelved its own pursuit of an acquisition of its cross-town rival.
Cerberus also plans to restart talks with other potential partners, including Renault-Nissan, the sources added.
Hyundai has expressed some interest in Chrysler's Jeep brand, but Cerberus would prefer to sell all of Chrysler rather than split off assets through a series of deals that would break up the company, the sources said.
Cerberus, Chrysler and Hyundai declined to comment.
Jeep is considered Chrysler's most valuable asset. Although Chrysler has been readying a step that would allow it to sell off Jeep and its supporting parts business readily, any move to dispose of the brand would signal the end of Chrysler as a stand-alone automaker, sources said.
The talks over the future of Chrysler are playing out just as the U.S. auto industry makes its case to U.S. lawmakers for an emergency rescue package to shore up the balance sheets of GM, Ford Motor Co and Chrysler at time when all three are burning cash faster than ever.
GM, which had been seen as the leading candidate to buy Chrysler, said on Friday that it set aside its pursuit of the acquisition in order to focus on preserving cash for its own operations.
Bush administration officials last week rebuffed a request for some $10 billion for GM to fund its proposed merger with Chrysler in part, out of concern for the tens of thousands of jobs that would be lost as a result, sources had said.
One advantage of a Hyundai deal for all or part of Chrysler is that the Korean automaker would likely opt to preserve more of Chrysler's U.S. operations, and hence keep more jobs, the sources said.
That aspect of the deal could be important because Democratic lawmakers who extended their majority in Congress in Tuesday's election have made it clear that any federal rescue package would be aimed at preserving U.S. manufacturing jobs.
With GM out of the picture for now, Cerberus will look to restart talks with Carlos Ghosn, who heads Renault-Nissan, said one person with knowledge of the talks.

I bought a Hyundai yesterday and traded in my old Hyundai for it. They called me back today and said that because its registration isn't current that I don't qualify for the rebate through the owner loyalty program.
I signed the deal, got the loan and think everything is finished and then I get this call today. It seems strange that my registration would have to be current on the car to get the deal. I tried searching the internet, Hyundai site, these forums, etc. for the terms of the rebate but have not been able to find any information on what the terms of the rebate program are. Can anyone help?
Thanks!

I just bought a 2009 sonata gls, close to the least expensive model available. I would like to replace the rear view mirror with an aftermarket mirror that has an auto-dimming capability. I am able to supply the electric power to the mirror, but I am wondering about the possibility of removing the original mirror and installing the new mirror.
Has anyone done this on their car? How difficult was the installation? Did the mirror remain attached?

Most newer vehicles have a gas pump symbol with an arrow pointing either left or right in the fuel capacity gauge area on your instrument cluster. This is to let you know what side to fill up you gas on.
Very helpful to know if you ever rent a car.

Ya know, why does a trip to dealer ALWAYS have to be such a crap-shoot? I mean, sometimes it goes well, but more often, it's like going into battle. Such is usually the case for me since I'm a repair shop's worst nightmare. I'm an ASE-certified auto tech (retired) with over 25 years of experience in the business. It never ceases to amaze me how these shops try to get away with doing such lousy work. I have TONS of stories but this is the one that prompts this post:
My daughter has a 2002 Sonata. Very nice car. I bought it for her in 2005 as I recall. She's done some customizing to it, and it really looks sweet, see it at:
http://www.cardomain.com/ride/1894923Ok, back to the story, she was home from college last weekend and on Sunday she showed me that the car was making a noise. Checked it out and found that the R/R caliper was dragging and therefore was heating up the brakes etc. This caused a bit of a squeaking noise when she stopped. Used my IR thermometer on it and found that three rotors were approx. 190 degrees while the R/R was over 500 degrees. I told her to get it to her local dealer ASAP. The following day (Monday) she headed back to school, called the dealership (Lehigh Valley Hyundai in Emmaus, PA) and made an appointment for Tuesday. She took it to them on Tuesday, and explained to the service writer that we had found the R/R brake dragging and told him about the IR temp readings. She even pointed out to them that the car had just been washed and all the wheels were clean and shiney except the R/R which was covered with brake dust. Now you'd THINK that this would be a pretty straight-forward repair, wouldn't you? Think again.
They went over the car and claimed they couldn't find anything wrong other than that it needed rear brakes badly. Actually, I'd checked the pads myself before letting my daughter leave with the car, and found them to to be about 50%.
I told them that I found it hard to believe that it needed brakes, and furthermore, that low pads would have caused the dragging R/R issue but since I'm 100 miles away....I told them to go ahead. $330 later, my daughter picks up the car and heads back to school on Tuesday late afternoon. She called me within about 20 minutes to tell me that the car was doing the same thing again. She then called the dealership and told them that the car was NOT fixed. They wanted it right back but she told them she couldn't get it back to them until Wednesday. She took it back the next day and this time had two service people verify that the R/R wheel was extremely hot indicating that the R/R brakes were dragging, and left the car with them.
The following day, Thursday, I get a call from the dealership saying that although they DID verify that the R/R brakes were dragging, they were unsure why. Later in the day, I got a call from the dealership stating that they had found the problem. The caliper hose was bad. Repair cost, $550 which would include replacing the hose and the R/R caliper. I asked about being credited for the $330 brake job and was told "no way". Me and the service writer went round and round. Finally, when she tried telling me that they had never been told that the problem was a dragging R/R brake, I told her that I obviously wasn't getting anywhere and requested that her service manager call me. Talk about an outright lie!
The service manager called back and reiterated what the service writer had told me. The next 20 minutes was filled with totally ridiculous statements by him which included him really digging himself into a hole with respect to both the material condition of the rear brakes when they first saw the car, as well as why they had done what they did, and finally what he could do for me on the repair costs. It's REALLY fun listening to somebody trying to pull the wool over the eyes of someone like this, especially when I know more about the car than he does. Finally, he told me he would take another look at the bill and call me back. A few minutes later, I got a call from him and the $550 bill was now down to approx. $20. AMAZING!!!
Now, I'm waiting for them to call and say the car is done (parts not in stock).
Like I said, why does it have to be like this?

I subscibe to the on line mag... just noticed this today..
Hyundai up 7 points from last year in overal reliability
From the article:
Last year we called out three Toyota models that had slipped to below average: the Camry V6, Tundra V8 4WD, and the Lexus GS AWD. Toyota seems to have rectified some of the problems-all 42 of the Toyota, Lexus, and Scion models in our survey scored average or better. While the three models noted above scored merely average, most models got above-average Ratings. Almost all models from Honda and its Acura luxury division received above-average scores. In addition, Subarus for which we have sufficient data scored average or better in reliability.
Nissan showed striking improvements, with the perennially troublesome Armada SUV, Titan pickup, and Infiniti QX56 SUV finally gaining average reliability. The new Nissan Rogue and Infiniti EX SUVs have started out above average, which is a good sign, and the Altima Hybrid sedan is well above average.
The two closely related South Korean nameplates, Hyundai and Kia, rank right up there with the better Japanese makers. Most of their models scored average or better, with only the Hyundai Entourage and Kia Sedona minivans receiving below-average scores.

So here we go 10/09/07 I bought my 2005 tucson with 32k on it. Came with a full 5yr 60k warranty along with a complete inspection of the vehicle. 1 month after owning it the nightmare began. I began to see spots on my driveway, I layed underneath it and found the transfer case was leaking. I work at a shop so i pulled the tsb's and found that their was a tsb on the seal connecting the case to the tranny. I called scheduled an appt and dropped the car off along with the paper work. 7 visits and 40 days all together with out my car later the problem is found that the seal is leaking, each time the work order read something differnet, couldn't find leak or drain plug was leaking. Finally at 44k they decided it was the seal, they pull the case out and see that my other complaint of the car shifting bad is because the tranny has an internal leak. They replace the tranny with a reman tranny and replace the seal along with the axle seals and put it all back together. I pick the car up 12 days later and on the way home had to pull up the e brake to stop from slamming the car in front of me because i later found out they broke the abs reluctor ring and the abs would engage at random times. They fixed it, I figured now the car is done and the problems are over with. Guess again, I take a 4hr trip and find that the transfer case is leaking again and that the car is getting horrible gas mileage and not kicking into high gear and revving around 4 grand at 65mph. I take it back to the shop, they find that 8k later the same seal is leaking. I contact Regional rep Scott Mclarty and by the end of the phone call (i had spoke to him the first time the car had issues and it took 7 visits to fix it) nothing was accomplished out side of him telling me that the warranty states that the problem will be fixed and that nowhere in the warranty does it state they have to look for the cause of the issue, they only have to fix what is wrong with it . He calls me a Fu**ing idiot and tells me I am full of Sh** to think that running a transfer case low for 20k could cause damage to the internals. I told him I wanted his boss to call me because him cursing at me was very un proffesional and that I knew nothing was going to be done . His boss calls me and pretty much tells me the same thing, that I could sell the car if I didn't like it and That they were going to do nothing more for me. So now I am stuck with a pc of garbage HYUNDAI TUCSON. It gets 15-16 mpg tranny is messed up and the front end is falling apart all at 50k. Do not buy one of these cars, The dealer ship is Kerry of florence ky and the regional rep is Scott Mclarty and His boss is Mike Z. I have their numbers if anyone needs them for anything and have already started the paper work with an attorney and contacted BBB. I would like any other help anyone has or suggestions on how to get something done.

What's up people of hyundai-forums.com! i've been a toyota driver all of my driving life. but now my old corolla is in need of retirement. so im looking to get something new. aside from looking at toyotas, i've been looking at hyundais a lot lately. my post in the newbie section of this site asks for ups and downs of hyundais vs toyotas. but here, i wanna know if there are any good Hyundai dealers around pittsburgh, pennsylvania.
i did some googling, and found one dealer's site that did look appealing to me, and they arent too far from where i'm at.
http://www.mikekellyhyundai.comi was research some stuff on the site, but what i want to do is actually go look at some in person. Has anyone ever heard of, or been to Mike Kelly Hyundai? any experiences to share? i dont wanna even step foot in there if it isnt good.
or does anyone know of any other good Hyundai dealers?
thanks in advance!

I don't know how else to describe the noise from my 2007 Tucson. My son's
2005 Elantra also makes a similar sound.
It doesn't do it all the time but sometimes when we are just driving down
the road we'll hear this wearing sound or low pitched whining sound from the
front end. Not like the grinding sound from worn pads or the tweet tweet
from the "low pad" springs (if these vehicles have them).
It may be associated with the pads because if you touch the brake peddle the
sound stops; take your foot off the brake and it comes back. We pulled the
front wheels from both vehicles and the brake pads are fine.
Also, if we swerve left and right the sound stops while the wheels are
turned but returns when they are straight. Really, you can drive down the
road rocking the vehicle left and right and as the wheels pass through
straight ahead the sound happens then disappears when the wheels are off
straight ahead.
Any ideas?
Pete

I always wonder were to post such info on the internet BUT this is as good as any.
Just bought
2001 ELANTRA GLS
134K
5 sp
Power locks
My fix for the front drivers door lock that is seized, not from cold.
The key did not turn the lock.
Pulled door apart from inside. Not too hard. keep track of small parts. Look from all. Door side is one piece but looks like two.
Pulled lock part out. 10mm nut on the left. Need to remove the bar that it moves to lock door.
May or may not need oil while doing process. I used a some.
Heated lock with torch on REAL low. Use tools to hold parts.
In my case nothing moved. Two ways to move, with key or with singer at end.
Now I did this over 10 or 15 mins. Heated, then stopped to see if things moved.
After some times things started to move.
Oiled with graphited lock fluid. Others please chime in with other good stuff to use.
Since the car is not on the road yet I will keep it out for a few days to see if it still works later.
I plan respray in a few weeks.
Good luck with yours.

I am now getting warranty scams by mail on almost a daily basis.
Usually they come from sources with names like "Warranty Sevices", or the like.
Invariably, they notify me that my warranties are about to expire (they aren't) and they look like Hyundai mailings. Sometimes they are post cards and sometimes they are in envelopes.
I have never gotten this kind of C**p with any other car that I bought.
Are people in general getting this nonsense in the mail?? Is the dealer to blame ??(their name does not appear).

Hey there,
I recently bought a 2005 Elentra, and I find it a great car to drive.
My only problem is that I find the seat a bit uncomfortable (maybe b/c it's pretty deep, and I have a bit of a sacro-iliac injury). (Unfortunately things like the Obus form back support haven't helped).
So I'm trying to find out if I can replace the driver's seat with something more high-end. I've done a bit of research and found that most aftermarket seats are geared to racing. I have a couple of questions, and would be really grateful if anyone had any ideas!
- Am I able to replace the Elentra seat with a higher-end Hyundai seat (e.g.
Sonata or Tiburon?), if I got brackets/sliders, etc?
- Are there any high-end (comfortable) aftermarket seats that aren't for racing?
(And if not, any recommendations in any event? (I've heard Recaro is good, but
don't know if you can find a dealer in Ontario)
(or could I put in a seat from a totally different vehicle - say a Saab -which are
really good seats)

PLus I was at his house trying to be respectful. He did have my friends car ripped apart. Well on the forums he was talking about nitrous and I wanted to see what was said. This guy said " Stop trying to impress all of your little hyundai friends. You car is already more Superior to his " Ahhhh! I went to go on and post in my defense But apparently this forum makes you pay to post their. Wow what a rip!!!! Theirs my rant and rave!

Hi. I am Canadian and looking to purchase a 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe Limited in the United States. I have found a dealer selling essentially a brand new vehicle as used (odometer 16 miles) for significantly less than elsewhere. Upon talking to their sales staff I have been told that it is a Class 2 vehicle. Apparantly upon final inspection at Hyundai's factory if there is any damage to the finish the vehicle is registered and auctioned off as used since it can no longer be sold as new. Has anybody else heard of this or am I being fed a bunch of salesman lies? My concern is that if this is true, is it only a factory second with respect to the finish or could there be mechanical flaws. Since the warranty is not transferrable across the border this could be costly. Any help or guidance is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I want to tint the side / back windows in my Sonata.. I see several do it yourself kits on the internet auction site.. are they any good, hard to install or is it just better to visit a good window tint business and let them do it? A, looking for thoughts and comments...

Hello Everyone,
I originally posted some of this in the Santa Fe forum however it really applies to all of us Hyundai owners. Maybe we can help each other out in listing what aftermarket suppliers you may know of.
Are we really stuck with Korean Auto Imports as our only real source for parts? I havent had any problems with them, but it seems that they have a corner on the Hyundai market and compared to parts for other brands that are more available, their prices and shipping are quite steep. Rarely do you see any worthwhile specials or discounts.
When I first saw those fancy new complete LED taillights for the 07/08 Santa Fe, I wanted them, but not for $500. I did find another place that lists them much cheaper however 3 weeks have gone by and they cant seem to get their act together to really get them, so I'll reserve on passing on who they are until such time they get it together to keep my fellow Hyundai owners from being frustrated by their inability to fill an order.
So, here are a few places I have found and some of you may be aware of, but their product range is limited. If you have a hook or know of another source for Hyundai stuff, please reply and add to the list. There really isnt a place on the forum for supplier links so I thought I'd give this a try.
Here are a few that I know of, please add any you know of:
I WILL UPDATE AS OTHER PROVIDE RESPONSES!

Enjoy!

hi guys,
I'm looking for a few good hyundai mechanics! I work with a newly launching autos site (it helps people out at the early stages when they are trying to figure out which car fits their needs). We feature lots of reviews for each car. We're focusing right now on reviews from mechanics. We pay $10 per generation (in series of 5 reviews/$50) for a review of about 400 words. We're looking for information about what tends to go wrong (and not go wrong) with a car, basic tips on maintenance and care, and what to look for when purchasing it used.
The following are the specific hyundai models and generations we need reviews for, although if you've got other expertise please inquire. Also, we haven't started on Kia's, so if you work on those I'd be interested in hearing from you as well. Thank you!
Hyundai Accent
generation 3 (2006-2009)
generation 2 (2000-2005)
generation 1 (1997-1999)
Hyundai Elantra
generation 3 (2007-2009)
generation 2 (2001-2006)
generation 1 (1997-2000)
Hyundai Sonata
generation 3 (2006-2009)
generation 2 (1999-2005)
generation 1 (1997-1998)
