According to the most recent numbers released by Kelley Blue Book, Hyundai now has the strongest brand loyalty among its customers. Over the past year Hyundai owners looking to purchase another Hyundai went up 10.4 percent to a total of 56.4 percent, outranking long-time first-place brand Toyota. Honda, meanwhile, continues to hold on to the second place position.
KBB lists the reason for the jump as both the result of exciting new products from Hyundai like the Sonata and Tucson as well as the Korean automaker benefiting from other factors. Included in those are the Toyota's recent recall woes and relatively stale products by Honda.
Hyundai has also finally entered onto KBB's Top 10 Most-Researched New Vehicles list, with the new 2011 Hyundai Sonata now ranking fifth in February, surppassed only by such industry mainstays as the Accord, Civic, Camry and CR-V.

Being the cheap-skate that I am, I finally sprung the $10 for a new air filter today. I figure it had about 40K miles on it, I was cleaning it with a pressure washer every 10k or so. The old bucket-o-bolts was still getting 35 mpg on those long rides up and down I95. It seems to run smoother now. I'll keep you posted on the mpg when I get a good reading.

Hi,
My car has cloth seats and cloth on the door panels. It's starting to look a little too dirty for my tastes. I'd like to do a good detail of interior then a good wash and wax to the outside.
How do you clean up your Hyundai; any tips on products to use or especially avoid. Let me know what works.
Thanks,
Chris

2002 XG 350 with a history of asst electrical problems finally melted the passenger side door panel and smoked up the interior beyond repair. Today Regional Hyundai ( USA ) denied the coverage in my Advantage Plus extended warranty.
Anyone out there have any similar problems ?
Looks like this one is going to get to court.........................Thanks in advance

Dear all
I just purchased a used 2009 Sonata GLS and would like to service it as well as check it out before the warranty expires.
I live in Queens, New York and as I purchased from a private party I am not associated with any dealer.
Do you have any suggestion for a NY based dealer with a good service record?
Any recommendations or dealers to avoid?
Thanks in advance
Glad to be a new Hyundai owner

Howdy all...
Sorry, this is probably not the most important question to be asked here, but I have exhausted all other avenues. There is a new TV Ad here in Canada centering around the "Smart" campaign, and featuring a beautiful red-headed woman "bumping" a guy's Elantra and setting off the car alarm to get his attention. Does anyone know who this woman is, if she has a website, etc.. I'm not some crazed stalker, she just looks very familiar and I'm trying to get a bit more info about her.
Any help appeciated.

Hey Everyone,
I'm new here, wasn't sure where this is supposed to go but its a review of the Genesis Coupe on CarThrottle, mainly who review performance and luxurycars. Its interesting. There is a lot of value in non-Track models of the Genesis Coupe too, for someone looking for a bit less performance they are ah great deal. What does everyone think?
------------------------------------------------------------------
Throughout the history of the automotive industry and other industries too, there have been times (admittedly rare) when a company not only manages to survive in a difficult climate, but thrive. An example of that would no doubt have to be Hyundai and its sister brand Kia, both of which have managed to increase market share and sales, on the strength of strong product.
One of the turning points for Hyundai was the Buyer Assurance Program that offered the ability for an owner to give a purchased vehicle back to the company in the event of losing their job.
The program proved to be very successful, enabling customers worried about their job security to get a new car, as well as being a big statement about Hyundai’s commitment to its products – it was something no-one else was doing at the time. Competitors sure copied it after though, aiming to replicate its success.
The first big step towards higher ambitions for Hyundai started with the Azera. Many thought that the Azera was a stretch for Hyundai at the time, but the company didn’t stop there, introducing the rear-wheel drive Genesis Sedan and Genesis Coupe. Now they are going even further still, with the next model in this onslaught slated to be the Equus, a competitor to the Mercedes-Benz S-Class.
The remarkable thing is that this is all being done without a standalone new luxury brand. Producing these vehicles under the Hyundai name instead of a dedicated luxury brand was a big gamble, but one that is paying off. Not only are consumers willing to buy these vehicles under the Hyundai badge, but there is a halo effect which trickles down to the rest of the lineup.
With the Genesis, that strategy is two-pronged – the sedan is designed to target buyers looking for no-compromise value in the luxury segment, and the coupe for those in the performance segment.
However, aside from the name these two cars share very little. That goes for character as well – the Genesis Coupe is entirely different from the sedan. It is not simply a two-door version of the Genesis Sedan.

Now that it looks like it might finally be spring soon I want to completely detail my car to get all of the winter grime off of it. I've heard some people talk about getting a claybar to really get the finish clean. Does anyone have any experience using one of these? Is it worth it? Any tricks or tips? Thanks.

Hi. I pulled the ignition cylinder out of my 2007 Elantra because I broke a piece of a key off inside of it. I removed the piece of key and replaced the lock cylinder and now my keyless doesn't work at all. I checked fuses and even brought it to the dealer so they could reprogram it. They told me they couldn't communicate with the BCM and had to consult with their Hyundai main office.
Does anyone know if there is some safety feature where the ignition cylinder being removed, causes an alarm situation? Anyone have a schematic diagram of the door locking system of my car? My BCM couldn't be blown up if everything still works manually like windows and door locks. Just the keyless is disabled.
Thank you.

Having recently bought a 2007 Terracan in the UK, I was very pleased that it still had 2 years to run on the warranty, so I sat down and read slowly through the booklet.
When I came to the "Change of Ownership" section, it stated that you must notify them within 30 days of taking ownership. Fortunately this was not a problem, but I was out of the country and therefore it could have been.
If you go to the Hyundai UK website you can email the necessary info to their customer service department, simple and easy and they acknowledged the transfer the next day. Excellent service Hyundai.
However, I and many others could have so easily overlooked this requirement.

First of the cars to go on the block was the first Hyundai Equus to ever be sold in the U.S. This S-Class for E-Class cash had a hammer price of $60,000. While pricing has not yet been announced, that should be a least a few thousand above a comparable car on dealer lots.
SOURCE:
http://www.motobullet.com/news.php?id=10149 (MotoBullet)
The Equus was sold at auction along with the rights to the first car in the U.S. for a Ferrari, Mercedes, and Audi -- all proceeds went to charity.

Hey there,
Just wondering if there is an aftermarket scan tool that can be used to program extra keys to the system. I do have a OBDII/Can Reader writer but it does not have the capabilities. I would like to avoid having to pay the dealer having to program this as I am doing a number of them and it would be very costly.
Thanks,

3 years ago I leased a Veracruz. I love my car and I am 2 months from the end of my lease. I got a call from Hyunda Financial Services a couple of weeks ago and they gave me 3 options.
The first is to buy back my car for $27,000, the second was to extend my lease by 6 months with the same payments, the final was to return the car and get an end of lease inspection.
I love my Hyundai and I have taken great care of it. I went online to find out how much the Veracruz is worth. It has a trade in value of $22,000 which is significantly lower than the retail value on my same make and model.
http://www.automotive.com/2007/12/hyundai/...cing/index.html
My mind wants to return the vehicle back to the dealer but I want to keep this car. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do with Hyundai Financial Services to lower the residual value or buyout value?

Hi folks,
I'm currently writing a feature for the Sunday Times on the best approved used car schemes on the market – one of which is Hyundai's.
I'd like to include a comment from someone who has bought a car through the scheme but I'd rather not go through a dealer as they will obviously ring up their best customer!
If you have bought an approved used Hyundai –or know someone who has – then I'd be very keen to hear from you. Please feel free to drop me an email on jack_carfrae@hotmail.co.uk. All comments are very welcome indeed!
All the best,
Jack

Hi all,
My poor little Elantra wagon was a stripped down model with nothing in the way of options. One of the options apparently was a tachometer. I've located an instrument cluster in the junkyard with a tach. So I was wondering if anyone knew if it would work by simply replacing my instrument cluster. My theory is that it works off the ecu, and thus all the existing electronics should support a tach, but I'm not sure. Any idea?

I am looking to buy a 2010 Tucson. Right now in the Twin Cities there are no incentives.
Do you think Hyundai will offer incentives during the 2010 Twin Cities Auto Show?
Most automakers offer something during the show. I was curious if anyone knew. The show opens in early march.

The launch dates may be +/- between North America and Europe but should give a flavour of the future.
Quote from Just-Auto:-
ITALY: Hyundai plans 10 new models in two years
12 February 2010 | Source: Tristan Young
Hyundai new model time line
* ix35 - now
* i10 facelift - mid-2010
* i30 facelift - mid-2010
* B-segment MPV - Q4 2010
* Small coupe - Q1 2011
* i40 station wagon - Q1 2011
* Redesigned i30 - Q3 2011
* i20 facelift - Q4 2011
* ix45 - Q1 2012
* C-segment MPV - mid-2012
Hyundai will renew almost its entire range within the next two years.
Speaking at the European launch of the ix35, Hyundai’s new small SUV, in Italy, European president Han Chang Kyun said: “We will have 10 new models and model derivatives starting in 2010 with the ix35.”
Beyond the ix35, the new cars will include three new cars in segments not already occupied by Hyundai, three new versions of existing cars and three significant facelifts.
Of most note is a new, small, front-drive, sporty coupe based on the i30 and sharing much of the styling of the 2007 Veloster concept. This will be powered by a 1.6 or 1.6 turbo engine, according to UK managing director Tony Whitehorn. He added: “It will be a three-door car like the Mini Clubman but, unlike the Clubman, in right-hand drive markets the [rear] door will be on the correct side.”
He noted that Hyundai had engineered the car for both left and right-hand drive markets.
Ahead of the coupe, which at present is only codenamed FS, will come a B segment mini MPV at the end of this year to rival cars such as the Renault Modus and Nissan Note.
Also included in the range regeneration will be a Mondeo rival called i40 at the start of 2011 and 2012 will see the introduction of an all-new large 4x4 to replace the Santa Fe which will wear ix45 badging.
Finishing the new model rush will be a seven-seat mini-MPV to rival the Ford S-Max and Opel/Vauxhall Zafira later in 2012.
http://www.just-auto.com/article.aspx?id=103168I think I might well wait until the 2012 IX45 is announced - if I don't like it I'll still be able to buy a nearly-new 2011 Santa Fe.

Hi. First post here. I am really interested in the i-Mode concept car, variously known as i30 MPV, iM30, HED-5 etc. Some have even suggested Matrix as a name. I currently have a small 4WD, the Nissan X-Trail, but I am looking to change. We don't need 4WD, but we do need the storage and flexibility of an SUV/MPV/CUV ;) My wife likes the raised seating position, too. So a car like this i30 MPV would be great for us. I have gathered all the information together about this vehicle and summarised it in a blog at
i30 MPV I like the idea of owning a Hyundai, having admired the improvements they have made, and the great warranty they offer. I'd like to think there is an i30 MPV in our future. Can anyone here help me with more information about this car?
I have now tidied up my site and lodged this page
here. Would love to hear what people know about this project.

I plan on buying the 2-way Autostart remote car starter on sale at Canadian Tire this week for $108 but need to know where I can get it installed on my '09 Sonata for a reasonable price.
According to a reputable installer (Auto-Links in Toronto), I should be able to have it installed, including bypass module and all gizmo
hook-ups, for no more than $200.
Anyone recommend a good place in Ottawa/Gatineau?

Ahead of their official airing during Super Bowl XLIV, Hyundai has released two of its commercials. The first is called “10 Years/Favre” and is set 10 years in the future where a 50-year-old Favre (even more gray-haired than now) accepts the MVP award and contemplates retiring… again. With the words, "We don't know what things will be like 10 years from now," Hyundai points out that its powertrain warranty on your new Hyundai will still be around.
The second commercial, called "Paint" isn't humorous, but highlights the all-new 2011 Sonata (it's paint in particular) as a work of art. Hyundai also returns to its old gimmick of comparing its products to some rather high-end models, ending the clip with the words, "Better paint quality than a Mercedes CLS550."
Both commercials are narrated by actor Jeff Bridges, who's voice is rivaled only by Morgan Freeman.
See the link below for both videos, as well as a few of Hyundai's past Super Bowl ads.

Hi all,
I'm looking to buy a used Genesis and I found a great price but the vehicle is located in another state. I've seen ads for vehicle inspection companies that go out and inspect the car for you before you purchase. Has anyone ever done this before, and if so what company did you use? I mainly wanted to see if their results were worthwhile. I've seen ads for some companies (AiM Mobile Inspection, etc.) through google searches. If anyone has any insight on this it would be much appreciated. Thanks,

So Ive been doing research on how to get a grill I liked, I found out it is part of a front body kit.
I checked Imotorroom.com It is hard to read Korean so i used googletranslate.
Anyway the cost was 300,000
And if im not mistaken Korean currency is won.
So heres what I come up with from a currency converter.
300,000.00 KRW = 258.30893 USD
South Korea Won United States Dollars
1 KRW = 0.000861030 USD 1 USD = 1,161.40 KRW
$258.00 not so bad, so i email sharkracing about the product. The guy says "The kit is one of the more expensive ones in Korea, although that doesn't necessary translate into better quality.
The front bumper alone is US$600, and shipping will probably run at least US$500 to the US.
Let me know if you're still interested."
Ok I can maybe understand the $500 shipping but more than 50% markup!?!?!?!?!
Someone please correct me if I am wrong with this info.
Im almost tempted to respond to the email and call these guys out, on robbery.

So I went to the dealer for another free oil change and was scoping out the new 2010 Tucson Limited... lo and behold.. a big sign on top of the vehicle stating that the dealership was now selling electronic rust control/proofing system.
Many of us are big believers in Krown and I know the attached link was a study done by Krown (there are many other studies out there) but if you are considering buying a new vehicle or starting a rust control program, please give this a read before you buy anything..
No.. I don't work for Krown, but I have used it on all my cars for 20 years.

Hi,
I have a question for you. I wonder what do you think. I would like to buy a new vehicle or a 1 year old used one. I test drove many cars and I came up with top 3 possible cars. I like 4 door sedans that are bigger cars since I got a Chrysler Concorde V6 leather with wood grain that is 210 inch long! So I need a car for 3-5 years that has some luxury and ample sporty power if I need some. Here is my current car:
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/comm...er_Concorde.jpgSo I test drove almost all of the available mid and full size sedans in my price segment except Hyundai Sonata, Azera, Ford Fusion.(I cannot buy BMW, Mercedes, Acura, Lexus, Lincoln, Cadillac)
What I am looking for is luxury interior look in some extend but sporty engine and soft suspension like a luxury car. This category is called sport luxury sedan I know.
My top 3 choice would be :
1, Chrysler Sebring Limited 3.5L V6 (I like to look but little bit concerned about the quality)
2, Hyundai Sonata Limited V6 or Azera Limited V6. (The interior looked real upscale and the exterior is also okay but not that good as the Sebring)
3, Chevrolet Malibu LTZ 3.6 V6. It was nice to drive but something was missing for me. Something that would make that car exceptional for me.
I test drove the Toyota Camry V6, Nissan Altima V6, Honda Accord V6 but they cost more than they would worth in my opinion in addition American cars have nicer exterior than those in general. Pontiac G6 GT has poor interior (no luxury look), G8 GT was thrilling (V8 with 361 hp!!) but too expensive and again not too luxury looking interior although it is super sporty. Dodge Charger looks aggressive but the interior is poor looking. The Mitsubishi Galant is ugly. I do not like the Saturn Aura (copy of Malibu) and I am not fan of Mercury Milan either (downgraded Fusion for me)
The question is Do you think I should try Hyundai?? In my memories Hyundai was the car that fell apart on the roads. Terrible quality and horrible design. I know since 2006 it has improved a lot but still I am uncertain with Hyundai. If yes sonata or azera? From my Concorde the Azera would be better change due to its size although the Azera is still smaller than the Concorde. I heard Sonata has strut and brake problems. I did not hear any bad about Azera though.
So could you drop me some lines what do you think?

I'm going to replace my filters and wanted some suggestions as to what brand and where to get them.
I saw there are a few different kinds for each and they are all priced differently.
Is there a huge difference in them? I see a cabin filter as low as $6.95 all the way up to $15.07. And an air filter from $10.23 up to $19.89.
What part number and website do you suggest?
I have a 06 Sonata GLS 3.3L
Thank you.

I got a 2009 Elantra a few months ago and setup the installed Bluetooth device to work with my old phone. That phone has since died and I wanted to use my new phone with the system. Every time I try to use it or press the talk button to say menu, setup, etc. it say something like "Phone not connected" and shuts down.
How can I setup my new phone to use?
Any directions/links to the owners manual would be great.

Hello,
I have a 2009 Sonata and was wondering where are the best (proper) spots to jack up the car (using a hydraulic floor trolley jack) and to also set jack stands for both the front and rear of car - I use ramps now to change the oil, but this spring will want to rotate tires and sooner or later do brakes - thanks in advance...

I went in today to have a new switch installed on my accent for the rear defrost. I asked if they timing belt was changed and their response was "wait until the warentee expires before you bother. This way, when and if it breaks, you pay the $50 deductible and get a new engine."
Why would they WANT to do an engine replacement? (Note: not a hyundai dealer.)
"What about the squeaking accessory belt?"
"Just spray WD-40 on them and they will be fine."
"And the ugly sound from the rear brakes?"
"Probably ice in the drums. Well look at it next week if they are still bad."
WEIRD.
The switch replacement was apparently unnecessary too. Apparently there is no light behind the little hole next to the rear defrost symbol. There's no indicator for when its on! (odd)

Pirates captured a vessel carrying a shipment of 2,405 cars including 2,388 units from Hyundai and its subsidiary, Kia, on New Year's Day.
The shipment was on board a car ship named the Asian Glory while on its way to Saudi Arabia from Ulsan, South Korea, when it was seized, 620 miles off the coast of Somalia. The Asian Glory is owned by Zodiac Maritime Agencies Ltd., a London-based international shipping company.
Hyundai does not expect any financial losses from the hijacking, as the cars were already both paid for and insured, but Hyundai and Kia have asked through Zodiac for the safe return of the 25 crew members of the Asian Glory which remains anchored off the coast of Somalia. Zodiac has received confirmation the Asian Glory's crew members are unharmed.
According to the European Union Naval Force, Somali pirates currently hold at least 12 ships.

Hey Guys, I am new to this forum and throught I would try to contribute. If anyone is looking for reapir manuals, owner manuals or service manuals for virtually any type of car, there is a FREE ebook at the address below. I asked him could I download and share it, but he said he prefers to have people come to the website. The site itself isn't the best, Sometimes there are annoying ads and surveys. The ebook is only a couple of pages, but it gives a list of places online where you can find almost any service and repair manuals, even for very old models and trucks. I would highly recommend to download it and keep it on your computer.

The idiot light came on in my wife's 2010 Elantra Touring. She took it to the dealer and the 'valet' parking attendant said it was due to the cold weather and would go out once it warms up. She promptly turned around and left. The next day it came on in my 2010 Sonata.
We live in Florida and the temps dropped into the high 30's low 40's (very cold for here). Are Hyundai's warm weather cars only? Do they not sell them in the northern States? Seems like a pretty worthless option if a little cold weather breaks it.
On a lighter side. When my wifes first came on she thought it was telling her seat the warmers were broke. I asked how the devil she came up with that. She replied "It looks like a butt". I had to go see and sure enough, it looks like a butt.
Anyone else have there 'butt' light come on and have it blamed upon cold weather?
Ed
