Hyundai has just revealed the first photo that shows its new i-Flow concept in full. The concept car is set to be revealed at next week's Geneva Auto Show and is a look ahead at the future of the Sonata in Europe. With a new Sonata having just been launched in North America and Korea, Hyundai has decided to shy away from the global vehicle approach and instead create a new Europe-specific Sonata replacement that is likely to be both more premium and more expensive.
With a hybrid version of the new Sonata set to debut this year in North America, Hyundai's i-Flow concept looks ahead at a possible hybrid diesel for Europe. The i-Flow is powered by a 1.7-liter 4-cylinder turbo-diesel and Hyundai's Blue-drive hybrid system, as well as a six-speed dual-clutch gearbox. Hyundai boasts that this engine, combined with a ultra-low drag coefficient of just 0.25 cd helps the concept achieve 78.4 mpg (U.S.).
In addition to this concept, Hyundai will show off low emissions and increased range "blue" versions of it's i10, i20, i30 and ix35 (Tucson) models. A fuel cell Tucson will also be on display.

Hyundai has just released a single sketch of the i-Flow Concept, which it will officially unveil at the Geneva Auto Show next month. The i-Flow is a look at what the company's next D-segment (mid-size) car for the European market will be.
We're surprised to hear Hyundai is going this route because in the past the Sonata (or i40) was a world car platform and the automaker has just introduced the all-new 2011 Sonata in North America. It seems, however, that Hyundai has decided Europe needs a more dedicated model, which we imagine will be more premium and possible a bit smaller, to complete with the likes of the Ford Mondeo and Volkswagen Passat. It's possible that this Sonata replacement could keep the same underpinnings as the new Sonata, but use Genesis-grade trim items and a unique design.
We'll be sure to bring you more info when Hyundai unveils the car at the Geneva Auto Show. AutoGuide's live Geneva coverage begins March 2nd.

Hello! I've tried to replace my cooling fluid, but I couldn't drain more than 3 liters through the radiator bottom plug. I know that the car has a capacity of 8 liters and I've heard that I have to open the engine block drains too... Does anybody know where they are or how they look like? Thanks!

As some of you may have realised, the web site link to download the manual has expired. I got it from ebay and paid US $6 to get it but when I looked at it I asked for my money back as I didn't think it was what I wanted. I still have it in PDF form but it is huge!!

Hello everyone!
I have an ATOS PRIME 2001 1.0 automatic. I'm looking for a repair kit for the transmission. I leave in Brasil and the dealers do not have it available. Also they ask a excessive value to import.
In this case, i think better to import by myself.
Can someone indicate a Hyunday parts dealer, so i can contact directely?
Thanks a lot.

First shown at the Seoul Auto Show last Spring, Hyundai will display its Blue-Will concept at the Detroit Auto Show in just a few days time. A showcase for hybrid and other green technologies, the Blue-Will is a plug-in hybrid and according to Hyundai could actually make its way to production, competing against vehicles like the Toyota Prius plug-in hybrid.
Powered by a 152-hp 1.6-liter direct-injection 4-cylinder engine and a 100kW electric motor, the Blue-Will uses a lithium-polymer battery pack to achieve 50-55 mpg in standard hybrid mode, or as much as 106 mpg in plug-in hybrid mode.
Until then, however, a similar non-plug-in hybrid setup will debut in the all-new Hyundai Sonata hybrid, which is due out later this year as a 2011 model.
Some interesting highlights of the Blue-Will include a CVT transmission with drive, park and reverse controls that are operated via a touch-screen, as well as a thermal generator on the exhaust manifold that converts heat to electric energy.

Hey Guys,
Sorry if this message isn't in the right place. I have a 1985 Pony that was driven by my Grandma. The car has always been outside and the exterior has what I am sure is typical rust. The good news is that the car only has 30,000.00 Kms on it. The interior is mint with the exception of the carpet. I would like to get rid of it and I was planning on sending it to the scrap yard. However, thought I would post that I would sell it or parts off it to anyone who could use em. If you have any interest, please email me at heehawguy@hotmail.com. The interior is tan.
Thanks
Brian.

Hey, folks. I'm new to the forum. I have a Galloper II and since it just started snowing I'm playing around a bit with the 4-wheel drive.
The Owner's manual probably describes in great detail (ok, maybe not so great) how to engage the 4-wheel drive. But it's in Korean and although I can sound out the characters, I don't have a clue what the words mean.
I must be missing something because just tonight, coming up the hill to my place, the rears were the only things working. I'm not too bright with the Free-Wheel hubs either. Our old Suburban had manual hubs but, I believe, still required some reverse driving to engage them. I tried this on my Galloper, but I'm pretty sure the reverse driving is for when you want to dis-engage the front hubs.
I'd love to get my hands on an English, or Deutsch, operator's manual, but judging from my search results on the forums, I'm not the only one that needs to find one.
Can anyone school up an idiot on how I need to do this? I'm worried that there is something else that is a problem other than just operator error.
Edit: Is it a 1:1 Ratio from the Front Tires to the Rear Tires?
Thanks
Ray

Hi there,
besides being my daily driver, my Galloper is also the instrument for my off road adventures and weekend escapades with the girlfriend. I am a car enthusiast and thus HAVE to, constantly, be improving my rides.
This car has already some tweaks. However, the acquiles heel of this sort of car is naturally the loss of traction when one front and one rear wheel are light on the ground.
Does anybody have any knowledge regarding a mitsu-origin device, ARB, easytrac, anything that can be adopted for the Galloper? I've searched everywhere without success.
Thanks for your help, regards from Portugal

Hi All,
I am having a recurring issue with my glow plugs in my 2000 Galloper II TDIC. In the past 8 months I have gone through 6 plugs and my mechanic is blaming it on inferior aftermarket parts. I live in Costa Rica and can't locate any OEM plugs. Is it plausible that aftermarket plugs are such poor quality? Is there anything else that can cause premature failure of plugs? Does anyone know which model/year of Mitsubishi glow plugs would be compatible? As always, a few more issues:
Now, two weeks after replacing the last two plugs, I am having a problem where the tachometer needle simply bounces around bearing no reflection on the actual RPM's. There does not appear to be any loss of power.
When I start the car in the morning, the power is very poor until the engine heats up. In the first few Km, the engine will sometimes stall when I depress the clutch. If it doesn't stall, the RPM's fall extremely low.
If I don't drive far enough to heat up the engine before turning the car off, it struggles to restart. After the car has warmed up, starting is not an issue.
I'm pretty sure the turbo is dead. Could this be the reason for any/all of the above issues?
Finally, I tired the e-bay Hyundai parts store someone posted in elsewhere in the forum (FourGreenAuto) but they do not appear to carry any Galloper parts (at least a search for Galloper returns 0 results). Does anyone know of a US distributor which sells Galloper parts or where I can find a list of Mitsubishi compatible parts for the 2000 Galloper II Exceed?
Thanks

Hi there, I'm very new to these boards with a slightly odd question. A little history might make it help make sense. First off, I have a 1976 MG Midget. This generation of Midget has an adapted Morris Marina 4 speed transmission. In the early '70's, George Turnbull (the director of the Austin-Morris division of British Leyland
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Turnbu...ry_executive%29 ) retired, asked for and received 2 morris', took them to Korea and from these, the Pony was engineered.
All this is to say that Midgets and Pony's share some DNA and are distant cousins.
Anyway, I am writing this here because I am trying to figure out if I can adapt a 5 speed Pony transmission to a Midget engine.
I live in Toronto and would love to be able to find someone with a transmission, preferably out of the car, possibly to sell, but primarily for me to measure. I don't really want to commit until I sort out whether it is even possible. Alternately, if someone has one and could photo/ measure for me that would also be awesome.
Torontorocks - I read your recent post and don't know whether you can help or not.
I am willing to travel throughout the area
thanks in advance
JP

AutoGuide was recently invited by Hyundai to take a ride in its new flagship Equus luxury sedan, which is due out in the U.S. in 2011. We posted some initial impressions immediately afterward and have since prepared a little video of the car and our chat with Hyundai Motor America’s VP of Marketing Joel Ewanick.
Test drives aren’t allowed as the three models Hyundai has brought over from Korea are prototypes (complete with Korean navigation systems and gauges in km/h) so we had to settle for being chauffeured around, which one could argue, is really the best way to experience the Equus.

On a Hyundai Atos Prime 2004 ( about 30000 miles ) 1.1 liter engine the check engine light turn on.
In the car there is just a little bit loss of power.
I would like to know if could be a regular maintenance problem or is a fault.
More than this i would like to know where are located the camshaft sensor and the lambda sensor and how can i check it if they are broken ( like resistance or voltage value on the connector ).
Thanks a lot.

Just found out that the tires on my new hyundai accent have to be replaced prior to this winter. The mileage on tires is only 38000 km and i got them when purchased the new car. This assessment was done by a friend who is a mechanic. Is this not unusual to get such low mileage. About 95% of driving is city driving and proper tire pressure was kept. Can i go back to hyundai and expect compensation? The tires are KUMO.
Not happy and completely disatissfied

Hi, i posted a topic with regards to my Hyundai pony X2 not exceeding 50mph, and won`t go up hills. Have had a look a carb and noticed that there is no fuel coming through on second venturi, butterfly valve operating of the venturi but no fuel, this is i presume why it won`t go any faster.
Can someone tell me what the problem is and how to repair fault.
Thanks

Hi, Hoping someone can help me. I have a 1994 pony 1296 cc . It has done just over 35600 miles. 320 miles ago timing belt was changed. Since i have owned the car , about 2 months it has run like a dream. The problem is that i went to use it last weekend, drove it down the road but there was hardly any acceleration, very slow and when i got up there to 50mph it would go no faster. Up hills it is a nightmare, 1st gear sometimes!!!.
I have had timing rechecked, plugs ,points, rotor arm and dizzy cap all ok. Fuel and air filter changed. It starts first turn of the key, idles nicely and even when you rev it , it does`nt miss a beat. It just seems to have a problem under load whilst driving. THE CAR USES NO OIL, WATER AND NO SMOKE. Can someone please help or offer any ideas to the cause of the problem. I have had a look but there are so many valves an solenoids i just don`t know where to start.
Thanks

Hello, i am new to this forum. I have an 04 Xg350L with the upgraded Infinity Stereo system. I am trying to put in a aftermarket Pioneer radio. I have installed several radios in the past and this is the only one i have had problems with. I bought a new harness to attach to the OEM harness for the radio and when i plug it into my Pioneer, the radio turns on but i have no sound from any speakers. I have checked all my connections and everything was connected how it was supposed to be, is there something i need to do, like bypass the amplifiers or something? Does anyone have an suggestions on how to fix this problem? Any response would be greatly appreciated.

Good afternoon,
I'm new to the site, but have just purchased a 2000 model Galloper II turbo intercooler automatic. So far, I have only seen the car in photos as I am offshore, but my wife is using it every day.
She tells me that it has no power and is incapable of exceeding 80km/hr. There is no smoke, no strange noises and everything else seems fine.
Is there anything obvious that i should get checked? I'm new to diesels, so it'll be a steep learning curve...
Thanks in advance

Hi Everyone...
I have a 99 Galloper 2.5TD Intercooler SWB
1.I cannot figure out how to replace the parking bulb (Front, left)
I removed the washer fluid tank to reach the headlight...removed the plug from bulb housing and thats where Im stuck. How to remove the rest to reach the bulb?
2.Also...maybe somebody can advice. When i turn the headlights on, sometimes the dash panel and rear lights do not light up, only front lights...then after few tries it comes up, but sometimes I cannot get them turned on at all. Any help please?
Thank you in advance
3. The mechanic told me that front left upper ball joint (cv joint?) is worned out ... I cannot locate any spares...I wonder if anyone had fitted the ball joint off Pajero Gen. 1? Maybe somebody can help with part number or link on ebay for the part?
THANK YOU

Along with an electric version of the company's tiny i10, Hyundai will also unveil an innovative hybrid CUV concept at the Frankfurt Auto Show in just over a weeks time.
As a part of Hyundai's Blue drive initiative, the ix-Metro is powered by a turbocharged 1.0-liter 3-cylinder gasoline engine mated to an electric motor. Designed for Europe, this model is particularly interesting as it is a sub-compact crossover. It also gets a state-of-the-art six-speed dual-clutch transmission.
As for the electric i10, it will get a 65hp (49 kW) electric motor with a range of 100 miles.
In addition to these Blue Drive vehicles, Hyundai will also have on hand the Elantra LPI Hybrid and the Blue Will Plug-In Hybrid Electric concept vehicle.
Production vehicle debuts include the 2010 Tucson and the updated 2010 Santa Fe.

Well I can see this forum is for the newer Hyundai cars, but it might give everyone some encouragement to know how well Mitsubishi motors etc. last.
Yes, I am still driving a 1985 Pony, with the 1.6 L engine. Only two owners, and neither of us drives a lot, and certainly not hard. Less than 200,000 km. on the car [so far

]. I do all the maintenance myself, and nothing so serious as to need a mechanic has every gone wrong with it.
It works good. I just drove it on a 1200 km. trip back home, no problems, just a little overheating on some hills on a very hot day [38oC ; 100oF].
However, it recently quit on me. It was just warming up, then started running rough, then farted and stopped altogether. I have been able to get it to fire up briefly, roughly, but it won't keep running.
I got it home and am trying to figure it out: There is gas in the carb, and I got a strong spark at the plugs after making some adjustments... and the contact points are sparking good too. So I was thinking TIMING BELT?
But the parts place tells me it has a TIMING CHAIN. Is that true? And, if so, could it have slipped a notch or something?
When I get it to fire, it makes a groaning sound when it quits. Is that a clue?
Can anyone help me with this? I still don't think this car is ready for the scrap heap, and I have resolved to not get a new car until I can get an electric one.... just another couple years....

High-pitched noise coming from near headlight (passenger side) when car is not running. Continues after you start the car, sometimes it will stop after 10 or 15 minutes. Then sometimes when you come back outside to get in the car, it is making the noise again.
It seems to have something to do with the keyless entry/alarm system. I only say that because if you lock or unlock the car with the remote the pitch of the noise changes.

Earlier this week Hyundai announced that it would launch the company's Korean market Equus flagship right here in the U.S. And to help promote the car, Hyundai decided to show-off a few examples of its top-tier luxury sedan at one of the world's most high-profile automotive events: the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.
While in town to cover the concours, Hyundai invited AutoGuide along for a ride to experience some of what the Equus is all about. Test drives aren't allowed as the cars on display are Korean prototype models (complete with Korean navigation systems and gauges in km/h) so we had to settle for being chauffeured around, which one could argue, is really the best way to experience the Equus.
Designed to compete with the world's best, the Equus is based on the Genesis Sedan platform but is a good deal larger.
At 74.8-inches wide, it's thicker than an S-Class or Lexus LS. The wheelbase is relatively short for this type of vehicle at 119.9-inches and with an overall length of 203.1-inches (just slightly longer than the long wheelbase LS460), don't expect it to handle like a BMW 750i. Then again, that's not what vehicles like this were meant for.

Hyundai continues to shake up perceptions of what a Korean automaker can be, announcing today that it will offer its flagship Equus sedan in the U.S. starting next year.
The Equus is based on the same architecture as the Genesis, but is noticeably larger. Hyundai intends that it will compete with the world’s premiere luxury saloons including the BMW 7 Series, Mercedes S-Class and Lexus LS.
“We showed the car at the New York Auto Show earlier this year, and the response was fantastic,” says John Krafcik, Hyundai Motor America president and CEO. “Since then, we’ve had a fleet traveling around the country, capturing input from our dealers and consumers. Here, too, the response was extraordinarily positive, and similar to the market reaction to the award-winning Genesis, so we’ve decided to bring it to the U.S.”

Thanks the the prying eyes and quick fingers of one amateur spy photographer in Sydney, Australia, we have this single image of the upcoming second-generation Hyundai Tucson. Driving alongside a truck with a full camera rig, Hyundai was apparently filming either a commercial or some promotional video.
And while we now know what the SUV looks like (at least from one angle), what still isn’t clear is what the crossover will be called. It’s known as the ix35 is most markets, but Hyundai might keep the Tucson name for North America.

Hyundai shocked consumers in the North American market by introducing the Genesis last year and is set to do so all over again as the flagship Equus luxury sedan is scheduled to go on sale here next year.
At the time of the announcement the Equus was slated to get the company’s largest engine, the 4.6-liter V8 found in the top-trim Genesis sedan. Now it appears Hyundai has an even bigger engine in the works, to be paired with an even larger version of the Equus.

Hi. Just trying to get an opinion from the experts out there. I have a 2002 Hyunday XG350. Starting last week, at times, when I turn the engine on, the battery warning sign and the parking break sign will stay lit on the dashboard. It doesn't happen every time though. I'd say there's a 50% chance of it staying lit after the engine starts. I popped up the hood and looked at the battery and saw corrosion on the terminals. I unhooked the battery and cleaned it all up and then the problem seemed to have gone, but then it started again.
This battery is not even a year old so I don't think it's likely it's dying already. The alternator too has been replaced too about 20 months ago.
What could be causing this and how do I proceed to troubleshoot it? Thanks...

According to Hyundai CEO John Krafcik, the company's upcoming replacement for the Tiburon will look significantly like the Veloster Concept that debuted at the 2007 L.A. Auto Show. In fact, Krafcik said that the sub-compact will look 70 to 80 percent like the funky concept, calling it "Accent sized," and a "four passenger Honda CRX."
Much like the CRX, the Veloster will be a car you can drive hard and still get good mileage in, thanks to a direct-injection 1.6-liter four-cylinder that Krafcik promises will get over 40 mpg.
The new model will be front-wheel drive and Krafcik says it will have one particular trait that is not offered in its segment. He wouldn't say exactly what that was, but did mention that it could be one of a few design items, including some sort of unconventional roof, doors or rear hatch.
The Tiburon's sporty-CRX-like successor is due out as a 2012 model at dealers by late 2011.

I'm a newbie here. Hello to all who do or have owned Hyundai Galloper I, 1991-1997. This is a rare car and I would like to ask other owners to post about their experience about sourcing the parts and (non)compatibility issues with old Pajero and Galloper II parts...
My vehicle was purchased in Bosnia where the local Hyundai dealer imported about 50 1997 vehicles, the last model year for the Galloper I. God knows what market these vehicles were originally intended to, since they were nicely equipped for that time (A/C, central locking, etc) but had no rear wiper for some reason... Maybe were meant for the Sahara desert but even there one needs a rear wiper to wipe the dust off...
It looks the same as pre-1991 Mitsubishi Pajero except it has rectangular head lights instead round ones. It is naturally aspirated (non-turbo) 2.5L diesel, short wheel base. The local dealership provides some support for it, but it is rather minimal. They do carry some parts, some Galloper II (1998 or younger) parts fit too, but it is more of a guess work what fits and what not - they don't have a computer data base for Galloper I, so they look into a hard copy manual instead, then find the part number, and then search Galloper II data base with that particular part number to see if the part is the same for Galloper II or not.
Since I don't live in Bosnia full time, I use my vehicle only occasionally and after 11 years on the road it made only 90 000 km. So far I had no major problems, struts were gone about 40 000 km and I installed new Monroe’s which still hold well.
Then the time came to change timing belts. Looking around I was let to believe that pre 1991 (first generation) Mitsubishi Pajero 2.5L D belts would fit and I purchased them. But they did not... So after second try it appeared that the timing belts from the second generation of Pajero (1991 or younger) and/or Galloper II would fit. So the first set of belts I purchased was wasted $150...
Then the steering pump went. I searched the web, bumped on Four Green parts in Korea (which now has been renamed to www.yahalausa.com and ordered what I believed was the steering pump for my Galloper. But since this web site lets you search for parts by the part No or by vehicle model, whereas you can select the model (such as Galloper) but not the manufacturing year, I missed it again...
The pump arrived from Korea by DHL, looked identical to the old one, but it would not work - does not pump the oil. The mechanic opened it but could not figure what was wrong, there is only two gears inside... So I ended up rebuilding the old pump instead (which needed only bearings) and never figured out why the new pump would not work. However, I do remember that while looking for the pump on the web, I found someone in Korea who sells rebuilt Galloper pumps who seemed to think that Galloper II pump would not work on my vehicle, but his English was so poor that I could not understand anything, so I ignored his comment... And that ignorance did cost me $180 + $60 shipping... I'm an engineer by profession and have relatively good tecnical (mechanical) knowledge in general, but could not figure out the difference, unless for some reason the belt or the steering system on Galloper II is such that the pump spins in reversed direction, vs. Galloper I... Otherwise the pump looks exactly the same as the old one inside too... I e-mailed to Four Green indicating that the pump may be defective, but they wanted me to send it back for their assessment and I gave up...
The next non-compatibility issue was the fuel filter. Initially I used to buy it from the dealer but eventually I got tired of their prices. So I again figured that old Pajero aftermarket filters would fit, which are half price. And it does fit, it can be bolted onto the holder, however, there is a plastic water drain plug at the bottom (with water presence electrical sensor), and apparently Hyundai decided to change the thread on the plug, so that it cannot be screwed into Pajero filters... But I solved this one rather simply by buying also Pajero bottom filter plug.
As a final note, looks like that being a replica of the first genration (1982-1991) Pajero for the most part, Galloper I also has similarities with several other Mitsubishi vehicles/names such as Montero (USA, India), Dodge Raider (another replica of old Pajero but diesel version did not exist), Shogun (UK), etc.

Hyundai will bring its top-level Equus luxury sedan to North America next summer. While buyers of German luxury sedans like the BMW 7 Series and Mercedes S-Class aren't likely to buy Korean (not yet anyway), Hyundai thinks it will attract enough Lexus LS buyers to make the Equus a viable business plan.
According to a company insider the Equus, which is based on the Genesis platform, will come equipped exclusively with the company’s 375-hp 4.6-liter V8 engine. Pricing is expected to be just below the $60,000 mark - $5,000 less than the Lexus.
In comparison, a fully-loaded Genesis sedan costs about $43,000.
Currently the Equus is one sale in Korean with pricing ranging anywhere from $50,000 to $81,000.
Hyundai had the Equus on display at the New York Auto Show this year to see what sort of interest there was in the car. The reactions must have been positive because not long afterward the Korean automaker announced that it would bring 100 models to the U.S. for dealers to show off. Some of those models are equipped with such luxurious amenities as tilting rear seats with massages and LCD screens mounted in the headrests.
Hyundai has already surprised the luxury segment with the mid-level Genesis luxury sedan, but the question remains whether it can take on the top-tier cars or if the Equus will be the next VW Phaeton.
