For the past few weeks I have been trialling a tuning box manufactured by a German company ASA Autotechnik Saretz and I have compiled the attached report giving details of my findings. Should you want more info from me contact via a personal email and I will try to answer those questions posed.
A really special price to forum members has been negotiated with ASA Autotechnik Saretz who can offer a Tuning box, plus appropriate connecting cable complete and delivered to your door for an all-inclusive Special price of € 99 plus shipping costs of €10 to the UK. (A total of €109)
Members in other Countries should check shipping costs prior to purchasing but I have been advised that they will be as reasonable as is possible)
Please Note: -
This is a considerable saving on the regular ASA Autotechnik Saretz Internet price of €148 plus postage.
This is the best available offer on the Internet. Contact them by Email to order at
shop@autotechnik-saretz.de ENGLISH is spoken and understood.
When ordering please quote reference Itza/ASA ECO CR/Special Offer
If you have another vehicle that has any other type of diesel engine, ASA Autotechnik Saretz possibly manufacture a tuning device for that as well so contact them to see what they can offer you.

Hello to all

There are many, many topics on this forum about headlights, HID lights, fog lights, different ways of modifying running lights, brake lights, and more!
There are discussions about what is legal to use, and, what will simply upset all oncoming cars. This is about my search for more light, that is either completely legal, or, if not legal, it is impossible to tell it is not legal. I do not want to modify my wiring to do it, nor do I wish to risk melting any wiring either.
Many people have differing opinions about what is best. My best is simple, not too spendy, legal enough to never get stopped in Ohio, easy to do, and will not upset anyone when it's time to sell it.
The car is an 06 Tucson GLS 2.7L 2 wheel drive in the stock silver color. Stock wheels, and nothing special to look at.
My reason for different / better lighting is not so much about looks, but rather helping the guy behind the wheel to see better at night, and during poor weather.
Some basics you need to know before you start.
What size/type bulbs you have. What works on my Tucson, may not work on your Veracruz - you need to confirm before buying! Your Owner's Manual will give you some info, but this page will teach you everything!
Philips bulb selector siteOR this Sylvania site
Sylvania bulb selector siteThe key is to determine the 'size' or 'type' of bulb in each position you wish to change out.
I wished to change:
My headlights - brightest, legal bulb I could.
My foglights - from clear to yellow, and brighter if possible
My front 'parking lights' - from clear to AMBER (who ever heard of white parking lights?! - YUCK!!), and, if possible, brighter
My headlights are 9003, also known as 'H4' bulbs, and also as "HB2" - generally, get one of the comman names and you'll be safe.
My foglights are "881", and my front 'parking lights' are "168".
Using your favorite search engine, and by putting in a search string like " 168 bulb yellow" - you will find many different brands and styles to choose from! Be careful because, many sites will tell you that the 168 and 194 are the same bulb - sadly, not quite true! The '168' tip is straight, but some of the other bulbs have a 90 degree bend in the tip, or may be a different wattage!
Speaking of wattage... Two important factors here, generally more 'watts' means more light, AND, more heat, and more current draw through your wiring. So, unless you know what you are doing, or like to roll the dice, swapping out a stock bulb for a higher wattage bulb *can* be a risk! This is something to consider - many people tell you that you can double (the wattage) safely, or you simply need to put in a higher rated fuse - OK?! True, most of the wiring in my car is tougher than it needs to be for the stock bulbs - but *I* think it is because they (the car maker) want it to live a long and trouble-free life - and, who am I to mess with that?
I did go up slightly on my foglights however - but, they are not on all the time, they are on their own circuit, and not many will be able to tell they are not DOT legal for on-road use - as the Owner of the car, I choose to roll the dice on this one.
The headlights '9003' bulb stock is 55 watts lowbeam, and 60 watts highbeam, or 55/60W. There are many aftermarket bulbs that stay with the stock wattage. Some have different shades of white, some go to a bluish-white, but many say something like "+50%" or "+80%" meaning they provide 50% or 80% more light for the same watts used. This is LEGAL!!! And it will say right on the bulb case if they are "DOT approved" or not for on-road use, or off-road use only.
The Sylvania "SilverStar" is a well known and popular bulb (9003ST) and the "SilverStar Ultra" (newer and whiter) is 9003SU - these are what I have used in the past.
Recently I have found out about the Philips "X-treme Power"
bulb.
This bulb strikes me as the current best of show, and I ordered a set back on 08-28-09 and they just arrived today!
Whenever I can, I try to buy my stuff on Amazon (as I like shopping there), but I find I can't always get exactly what I want on Amazon, so then I need to find an outside vendor like the one above. Good knowledge on the site, great prices and selection, horrid shipping! No tracking to speak of - you get it when you get it...PERIOD!
For the front parking lights I bought some cheap $2.99 special no-name bulbs at my favorite auto-store. But, being me, I had to see if there is anything better, so for roughly $13 bucks, I got the PIAA bulbs - we shall see how different they are from the $2.99 specials...
For the foglights, I did go through Amazon, but from a different vendor that sells through Amazon - still, shipping not as good as Amazon themselves, but better than SUVlights!
Headlights - $39.99 plus $4.95 shipping - 11 days
bulbFoglights - $28.00 plus $4.25 shipping - 8 days
bulbPIAA front parking lights $12.85 plus free shipping - 3 days
bulbno-name front parking lights $2.99 locally.
Your Hyundai Owner's manual will tell you how to replace these bulbs, and, if desired, the proper way to aim them - the biggest caution I'd point out - DO NOT TOUCH the glass part of the bulb - you *may* put enough oils on it to shorten the life (I also wash my hands after taking everything apart, and prior to installing the new bulbs).
Personally, I believe yellow (amber) foglights do a better job than clear ones. I read a paper recently that stated otherwise. I have also read many old papers that agreed to having a yellowish tint providing better light in poor weather conditions. Only you can decide for yourself! Also, the *cool* factor of NOT having what every other Tucson Owner has is for me

Same reason for the amber front parking lights - it makes zero difference driving at night, but makes a GREAT difference (to me) sitting in a parking lot - same thing, makes mine a bit different.
One point to remember? "+%" type bulbs will have a shorter life than the standard bulb. How short really depends on how much you use your lights? In the past, I normally get 8-14 months before losing one, and as most all bulbs dim with age, I always replace in pairs.
One last point if I may? Generally speaking, most ALL automotive lighting is made by either Philips, or Sylvania - even HELLA does not make though own bulbs! So, buying a 'brand' doesn't really do too much for you in my book - the brand *might* SPEC out the bulb slightly different than the version sold by Philips or Sylvania - but it beats the no-name stuff all to ****! So, be careful of where or whom you buy your lights from!
I don't really consider this a 'mod' - but whatever, it's a nice safe, fairly easy change that can bring you great satisfaction if you drive a lot at night or in poor weather.
Below are a few images of the bulbs.

Hi all
I have managed to trial some pollen filters from a korean company who will provide them to all forum members at a really great price. I am as most of you know not emloyed by any of the products manufacturers of the items that I try out- I get a sample, test it and then try to give an unbiased opinion on it, then I negotiate a lower than normal price for forum members (I honestly do not profit at all by doing this).
Please read my write up and save yourself loadsamoney when comparing to OEM supplies. This company will provide filters for any make of vehicle if you want any others but will want dimensions and Lhd or Rhd details.
This is important Rhd models have different filters to Lhd Models so ensure you follow the right link when ordering (For Tucsons and New Kia Sportage)Pollen filters can be ordered by clicking on the http links provided by carfilterkor below
BUT PLEASE READ THE ATTACHED REPORT(Pdf) FIRST.
Note !
Please ensure you pay for the filter cost plus the $7.99 Packaging/Shipping charge as this will include a tracking number, so you will be able to track your purchase.
Thanks

On the Tucson, the time can be changed from the normal am/pm display to the 24 hour reading.
Example: 1.00pm can be changed to 1300.
To do this, you need to press the "R" button for 2.5 ~ 3 secundes (or untill the display changes).
So far, this feature is on the late 2004+ Elantra & Tucson only.

I am living in Costa Rica (CR) and have a 2006 Tucson with the 2.0 CRDI diesel engine. A while back I was backing out of a parking space and bumped into a car which was also backing out. I couldn't have been going over 1 mph and it dented my bumper on the right rear. I want to pull the bumper out enough to bump out the dent. So here I am. I haven't really looked to see how simple the project will be. Does anyone have a suggestion or hints or tricks for me to accomplish the task?

Hello all

I'd like to be able to turn on my foglights regardless if I am on parking, lowbeam, or highbeam. The default way is they only come on with lowbeams.
I have read about mods on the SFs, but could not find one for the Tucson? Does anyone know how to do it on a US 06 GLS?
A blow-by-blow would be great as I fear messing with stock wiring...
Thanks in advance!
[EDIT] 09-13 @ 8:21PM
I went to the HMA website, but none of the wiring diagrahms are view-able? So while I can find the rely and the fuse, and the switch - I have no idea what to modify to make the switch live with IGN on - so regardless of if on parking, low, high, or no lights, I can use the foglights.
I hope someone has this knowledge!

Here is a weird one...
On a couple of occasions I have discovered rad coolant on my garage floor. The thing is this has happened once two years ago, and now twice in the last month, both times it has been after a maintenance, and both after a short trip (5mins) preceded by a longer trip (2-4 hours) the day prior to the leak. Otherwise I have no other indication of a leak.
Anyone have any insight to this?
Thanks.

Hi All!
I'm having some issues with my 06 Tucson. When it is raining pretty hard the brake light and battery light come on and I immediately lose power steering until I stop the vehicle and turn it off and back on.
I have had the vehicle to the Hyundai dealership twice now. The first time they stated the serpentine belt was bad and needed to be replaced. Replacing the belt never fixed the problem as it continued happening when raining. The next dealership trip they replaced the serpentine belt tensioner because they said it was not keeping the right amount of tension on the belt. After replacing the tensioner the problem still exists.
It was raining pretty hard here yesterday so I took the vehicle out for a test drive to try to reproduce the problem. There was a rather large flow of water on the right side of the road due to the rain run off. As soon as I steered the vehicle into the 2-3 inch stream the lights came on power steering was gone.
Has anyone else experienced this same problem? The vehicle is at the dealership again this morning. They said it would be hard to reproduce when it's not raining. The service manager said they could try and spray water under the chassis when it's running to see if it happens.
We bought the Tucson brand new in 2006 and have 37,000 miles on it. Other than the radio being dead when we drove it off the lot we have not had and problems with the vehicle.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

While the 2011 Hyundai Tucson isn't set to officially debut until the Geneva Auto Show in March, the Korean automaker has released some details and a few photos of the new model for the Korean market.
In Korea two engines will be offered, a diesel and a gasoline motor, both of which will have a displacement of 2.0-liters. The diesel will make 184hp and get 36 mpg, while the gasoline motor will make 166hp and get 27.5 mpg. Both engines will be paired with a new six-speed automatic transmission. The diesel powerplant will be available with either front-drive or AWD, while the gasoline will be offered only as FWD.
When it makes its way to North America, expect AWD to be available with the gasoline motor and we're still expecting to hear news of a new turbocharged four-cylinder engine.
Notable features on the new model include stability control, downhill brake control and hill-start assist, a backup camera and a panoramic sunroof.
Called the ix35 in some markets, the Tucson is expected to keep its traditional Arizona name when it arrives in the U.S.

Hi,
I have a 2006 Hyundai Tucson 2.7 4x4 which I like very much. It just turned 61,000 and I have been told I should replace the timing belt. I really dont have the funds right now to do that, would anyone know how critical it is to do this at 60,000 miles or do I have a little more mileage before I should do this?
Thanks.

Hope someone can help me, I searched other posts but could not find a definintive answer. Here is the problem I have, I spilled a soda in the car and now the temperature control knobs on the center console are sticking. I need to know how to take them off to clean them, I tried pulling them off but it did not work. I read in other posts that there is a possiblilty I might have to remove the entire thing and then clean them but am not sure. If anyone could help me with this I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

I am living in Saudi Arabia and they have a strange law - at 120 km/hr, a warning bell must ring to let you know you are driving that fast. On my 2007 Hyundai Tucson 2.7 Ltr - it is the same bell as the seatbelt bell. The retailer here will not turn it off.
The funny part is that driving from here to Bahrain (450 km) everyone drives 150 - 180 km /hr... Most vehicles have a light or a bell that subsides, but imagine the seatbelt bell ringing incessantly for 3 and a half hours.
How do I turn off / remove the seatbelt / speed limit bell?
Thanks for your help.

After twenty, its says "unreadable disc". The disc is clean and works fine in my Durango. Has anyone else run into this? Is there a setting workaround, or is she going to need to get a new radio? thanks for any info. E

Hi Everybody,
I have been offered a 2007 Tucson Limited CRDT at a very good price. It's my dad's car and he bought it brand new.
I usually run around in sub £500 old bangers and throw them away if they fail their MOT (UK annual safety check). This suits me as I get the chance to do my own servicing and bodywork, including welding, where and when required. One attraction of running old cars, is that I don't worry about other people banging their car doors into them etc..
I only do 5,000 miles a year and I must confess, I don't like diesel engines very much.
As I do so few miles, is it really worth having such an elaborate car? Will it last me 10 years without too much outlay, financially?
I would imagine the exhaust system would be very expensive, when it fails, and once the warranty has expired, I would like to service it myself.
t has a lot of useless, to me at least, features. Air con, 4wd, leather trim, sunroof, trip computer and cruise control.
The last time I bought a new car was 1994 and I have had used cars since 1997.
So, s the Tucson a good long-term prospect? Will parts still be available in 10 years time? Will it last 10 years?
Sorry to ask but I've never bought a Korean car before.
Cheers,
Ian

I have a 2005 Hyundai Tucson 2 wheel drive. I find that I am changing rotors and pads far more often than any other car that I have owned while my driving style has remained the same for 30 years. My front rotors have a tendency to warp as well and never had this on any other GM cars that I gave owned. Is it me or is it the way the vehicle is designed ? My friend has a Ford F-150 truck and says he has the same problem but not with other vehicles .....Thanks much

I recently bought a 2008 Tucson GLS which comes with an Aux-in port on the stereo. My girlfriend and I have been using a Monster iPhone FM Transmitter for about a year in our other car (2002 Corolla).
I'm wondering if any anyone has any opinions on what they prefer to use.
Basically I am wondering if I should dish out the 90-so-odd dollars for a second transmitter, or the less that $10 for the aux cable...I do rather enjoy the charging feature that comes with the transmitter.
(And I know someone is going to ask: the reason I don't just share the transmitter between both cars is that my GF drives 1hr to work every day and uses it, while I would also like to use it when I drive the 45 minutes it takes me)

Due to my situation, I am forced to sell my '54 Tucson. Top of the range CRTD CDX. I can't remember the purchase price but it was about £18000 with full leather, towbar, mats and roof bars.
I realised at the time that Hyundais had a high depreciation rate but was not prepared for the sort of price I would get for it nearly five years down the line. I was expecting about £6500 for it, a bargain, but have been forced to advertise at £5650 with next to no response from my ads. I can see me having to take less than £5000 just to get rid of it!
Am I just a victim of the present economic situation or am I doing something wrong. Surely it's worth more than that in spare parts alone?

Hi everyone,
The wife and I own a 2005 Hyundai Tucson GLS 2.7L V6 with about 73,000 miles on the odometer. Over the last 10,000 miles or so, the vehicles goes through spurts where it hesitates to start. We've noticed that this generally only happens when the fuel is lower, which leads me to believe its a fuel filter/fuel pump issue. I remember reading somewhere (MSN Autos perhaps?) that these vehicles are known for fuel delivery issues. It hasn't yet gotten to the point where we haven't been able to get the vehicle started, but it's disconcerting nonetheless to hear it struggle as the engine tries turning over.
What's our best course of action here? Is it best to start with a relatively simple (and cheaper) fuel filter replacement, or should we just go ahead and get the filter and pump replaced? Are there other potential explanations that I'm missing here?
Thanks guys!

I just bought a used 2008 Tucson GLS 4 cyl with 21000km on it (I take possession on Friday the 21st). I was talking over maintenance with my father in law who said that he recently made the switch from regular oil to synthetic and it very satisfied. He's running a GM Sienna truck.
He says that although synthetic costs more at the till, he only needs to change twice a year. I do all my own oil changes but have always used regular oil. If I can get away with changing only twice a year instead of every 5000km, I can't say I would mind.
Does any one have any experience with synthetic oil on the Tucsons? As I don't know what kind of maintenance the previous owner did on the vehicle, I'll most likely be changing the oil over the weekend just to make sure I get off on the right foot with the vehicle.

Hey all:
I was wondering of anyone ever had a creaking noise coming from the underside of the front passenger side. I get this noise mostly on mornings or when the vehicle hasnt been moved for a bit. I hear it when I first move off. Once I get moving it disappears and there is no sound from that area and the ride is not affected. I also notice that it is possible to duplicate it when I am at a standstill, and I turn the steering wheel to the left.
As I stated though I dont hear this at all when driving normally, and I only hear it in the instances I have stated with the windows closed.

Hi everyone...
I've got a 2005 Tucson, and will be embarking on our first "family vacation" next week, and will be borrowing a friend's rooftop carrier. Can anyone tell me how to adjust the crossrails on the roof rack? I need to move them about 2" closer together.
I removed the 4 "obvious" screws on top, but the bracket around the rails still won't come off. What am I missing!?
Thanks in advance!

I've been looking for brighter headlights and came across a problem when choosing the size. It says H1 are High Beam and H7 are Low Beam. Don't light bulbs need to be dual beam so that one single bulb can have both low and high beam?
The light bulbs that I am trying to buy are here:
http://www.koreanautoimports.com/store/pro...products_id=357Let me just list out my questions:
Are there separate light bulbs for low and high beam?
Which type of bulb should I buy? I need both low and high beam.
What is H4 bulb?

I have been reading that on some models the dealer can set the door locks to lock the doors when the car is in drive. Does anyone know if this can be done on a 2009 Tucson. Thanks in advance.

Hey guys, I don't know when this started happening because it has been for couple years, my steering wheel vibrates rapidly and vigorously when I brake at high speeds (actually whenever I brake at speeds over 40 mph). I was wondering if anybody else is having this problem. My friend told me that my brake disc are warped. If that is the case, about how much would it cost to get new brake discs?

Hi! I've had my 07' Tucson (4 cyl) for about 2 months and already have about 2500 miles on it. I do highway & city driving and get around 375-400 miles to a tank of gas.So far the only thing I have a problem with are the headlights. On high they are ok but when dim it's like lowering a curtain. Plus I've noticed that the driver's side is slightly lower. I can't figure out how to adjust the light. Any suggestions?

Hello All,
My 2008 Tucson GLS has the ability to play MP3 cds. What program(s) would you recommend to make these? Has anyone tried simply making a data cd from the microsoft windows burning software? What have you found to work best?
Thanks,

Two questions for whoever is willing to help:
First Question: I recently bought a 2008 Tucson with one owner before me. I got the vehicle plated last week and on Tuesday of this week I wanted to add a plate frame. I found that one of the two screws that holds the plate in place only wanted to come out half way. I realized that the plastic nub (for lack of a better, more accurate term) in which the screw is placed, turns with the screw. So, now I can't take that screw out and thus cannot take the plate off. It isn't that the screw is stripped or rusted or anything, but it is stuck in the nub. Any suggestions? If I was to pull the entire assembly out, can I easily replace it? Can that little part be bought? Should it be part of the warranty?
Second Question: I will soon be buying splash guards/mud guards for the car, but with so many different sized flaps out there, I don't know which to consider. Has anyone purchased aftermarket guards for their Tucsons? If so, what do people suggest? note: if possible, please include the store where they were bought and how much they cost.
Many thanks,
ER

Just wanted to see if anybody else out there is having this same problem. Just purchased a Tucson about a month ago and after two weeks noticed the fabric above the armrest is coming off on both front doors. Dealership had interior guy try and fix it but did a poor job. I think this must have been some sort of defect from the factory, bad glue or something. Trying to get dealer to replace panels all-together. Any ideas?

My 2005 Tucson has been making this single knocking noise (not a continuous knocking), sounds like it's coming somewhere around the axles? It does it when I'm taking off from a parked position, both reversing or driving forward, both when the wheel is straight, and also when the wheel is turned. I can also feel the knocking as a vibration in my foot on the gas pedal. Really confused as to what this might be. My husband just replaced my brakes that were wearing low, but the sound has not ceased after doing so.
Has anyone here experienced this or have any idea what this could be??

I removed the 'HYUNDAI' badge from the trunk, and wanted your guys opinion on it. Should I remove the 'TUCSON' and 'V6' badge too?
It came out really clean, no gooey gunk or anything, no damage to paint-job, took 30mins.
BTW Removing the badges were pretty simple and easy.

Went To the Local Dealership to Have A Bit Of Warranty Work Done ( Rear Windsheild Wiper Arm Broke)
Other Than Being Told about 2 recalls That I Was Not Notified About( Ecm Reprogramming & Airbag Cover), They tried To Sell Me On A New Timing Belt, saying It Was Recomended Because Of The Age Of The Car, Not The Mileage.I said I would Think about It & Here I am, Asking Fellow Tucson Owners If they are trying To Clip My wallet For A Few Dollars.( I did Not A$k what The Cost Would Be)
It Only Has 26,000 Miles On It, 2.0 Engine FWD, No Major Problems At All with It So You See My Dilemma, To Do Or Not To Do, That Is The Question
If So, What would Be A Fair Price To Replace It??
For L,S & Giggles, I'm Gonna Ask My Local ASE Garage When I Get My Oil Changed Today What They Reccomend & If so What the Price Would Be & I Will Report Back

In advance For Any & all Replys/Opinions

Hyundai has just released two renderings and a teaser image of the upcoming 2010 Hyundai Tucson. We have already had a good glimpse of what the car will look like thanks to a lone spy photo, but the renderings give us an ever better idea of the car from all angles, including the large hexagonal grille.
Along with the renderings is a lone teaser photo, which, according to PR rep Dan Bedore, gives us a whole bunch of misinformation. While the 2010 Tucson is set to be called the ix35 in Europe, it will keep the Tucson name in North America. Additionally, just under the "ix35" badge are the letters "CRDi" indicating that this is a diesel model. The diesel version will, however, not be offered in North America.
We do expect to get a turbocharged four-cylinder engine, however, and there are rumors that a dual-clutch transmission will be available.
We'll have to wait for the Frankfurt Auto Show unveiling on September 15th for more info.

Hello all
My air conditioning system on my 2005 Tucson starts to smell musty / mouldy after~ 30 seconds of putting it on. The smell then dissipates a bit. I've taken it to the dealer 2 times and its booked in for the 3rd time next week. So far the dealer has just put 2 of those deodorising 'bombs' in it and it seems to clear it for ~ 3 weeks and then it comes back. I think more need doing but they can't detect a fault
My passenger side footwell did get very wet ~ 1 yr ago for some reason in very heavy rain and I'm still wondering if this is connected. The dealer dried it out then and checked for leaks and couldn't find any.
Any similar problems. I've read the one where there is a TSB and I've given the this Hyundai TSB to the dealer , but they say that this is not the problem

I have a dark blue 2005 Hyundai Tucson, 91 000 miles on it.
i have noticed that the paint is flaking on the door handles, on more than one of them. is anyone else experiencing this?
i am not sure if paint touchup is the way i want to go as the flakes are quite large. i did ask at the dealership and the price they quoted for new handles was astronomical. i also saw a Tucson page where they were showing vehicles that had been, whats the word...... pimped out? and they had put chrome door handles on, or maybe it was just some sort of a chrome cover. has anyone tried that?
