Hi all
I have managed to trial some pollen filters from a korean company who will provide them to all forum members at a really great price. I am as most of you know not emloyed by any of the products manufacturers of the items that I try out- I get a sample, test it and then try to give an unbiased opinion on it, then I negotiate a lower than normal price for forum members (I honestly do not profit at all by doing this).
Please read my write up and save yourself loadsamoney when comparing to OEM supplies. This company will provide filters for any make of vehicle if you want any others but will want dimensions and Lhd or Rhd details.
This is important Rhd models have different filters to Lhd Models so ensure you follow the right link when ordering (For Tucsons and New Kia Sportage)Pollen filters can be ordered by clicking on the http links provided by carfilterkor below
BUT PLEASE READ THE ATTACHED REPORT(Pdf) FIRST.
Note !
Please ensure you pay for the filter cost plus the $7.99 Packaging/Shipping charge as this will include a tracking number, so you will be able to track your purchase.
Thanks

For the past few weeks I have been trialling a tuning box manufactured by a German company ASA Autotechnik Saretz and I have compiled the attached report giving details of my findings. Should you want more info from me contact via a personal email and I will try to answer those questions posed.
A really special price to forum members has been negotiated with ASA Autotechnik Saretz who can offer a Tuning box, plus appropriate connecting cable complete and delivered to your door for an all-inclusive Special price of € 99 plus shipping costs of €10 to the UK. (A total of €109)
Members in other Countries should check shipping costs prior to purchasing but I have been advised that they will be as reasonable as is possible)
Please Note: -
This is a considerable saving on the regular ASA Autotechnik Saretz Internet price of €148 plus postage.
This is the best available offer on the Internet. Contact them by Email to order at
shop@autotechnik-saretz.de ENGLISH is spoken and understood.
When ordering please quote reference Itza/ASA ECO CR/Special Offer
If you have another vehicle that has any other type of diesel engine, ASA Autotechnik Saretz possibly manufacture a tuning device for that as well so contact them to see what they can offer you.

On the Tucson, the time can be changed from the normal am/pm display to the 24 hour reading.
Example: 1.00pm can be changed to 1300.
To do this, you need to press the "R" button for 2.5 ~ 3 secundes (or untill the display changes).
So far, this feature is on the late 2004+ Elantra & Tucson only.

Hello everyone,
First time poster here. I was asked to do the 60K mile service again today (I am at 70K) and I just thought there are some things I can do for myself. Its almost embarassing to admit, but I changed the air filter and the wiper blades today and am excited to do more. It's liberating to find out how easy and cheap somethings are to do on your own.
I was told the PCV Valve should be replaced. The dealer said that was a $40 repair - I was told by a friend that it is easy to do. The part cost $6 and I think I can do it, but I don't know where to find the Valve.
Does anyone know where to find the PCV Valve and does anyone have any tips for changing it?
Many thanks!

Occassionally, the Tucson is hard to start. Especially noticable after it has been driven - then parked for a period of about 2 hours. When we attempt to start it again, it cranks, it attempts to start but just does not. It takes several attempts, then if we let it sit for about 20-30 seconds and try again - it will fire right up.
Any thoughts?
Its a 2.7L V6 Gasoline - Automatic - and it has been alot more noticable since the summer has hit and we are running the A/C.
Thank you,

hi folks, i have read a few posts about servicing costs and what not but not exactly what I am after. we get our TUcson serviced by a fellow that has always serviced our cars. we checked with Hyundai first and they say this is fine so long as he follows their strict servicing schedule/guidelines. does anybody know what these are in Australia?

On two ocassions the light came on but went off with the next start. Now has seemed to fix itself. Has anyone experienced this as it seems quite odd. Both times road conditions were dry and at low speed.

Many of you may not know me as I'm rarely on this forum and when I am I'm normally on the sonata or tiburon threads. I'm The STR on hyundai-forums.com/sportagedrives.com. What is a STR well its a special topic rep. my specialty is performance in both 2.0L and 2.7 Gas engines and its easy to see why based off my pics. enjoy and if you have any questions please email me at davpepiton@yahoo.com or send me a message on TD.com
This is a DIY to show case both the front and rear strut bars made by my new sponsor Ultra Racing.
first the front strut bar:
well today I got the ultra racing front strut bar from ultra racing and I must say this piece is beautiful much thicker then the stock piece yet still light weight. here is a quick how to on the install.

tools needed: 14mm wrench, 14mm long socket, ratchet and one bottle of beer (not pictured).

start by removing the two nuts with the 14mm wrench (a socket will not fit)

after removing both sides and pulling the bar off clean the surface area to prevent rust and to clean that nasty engine bay.

replace with the new strut bar and tighten down. use the wrench on the nut nearest the outside of the car and the socket on the other.
finished product:

now the rear:
tools needed: 1 ratchet 1/2inch or 3/8ths 12mm socket and 1 1inch extension.

product: ultra racing rear strut bar

begain by removing the plastic covers over the rear struts and then removing these two nuts with the 12mm socket

place the new strut bar in place and tighten down to 80 pounds of trq.

NOTE: plastic pieces are not reused but can be modified to fit.
where can you find these products?
http://www.ultraracing.com.my/contact:
Mbarton@ultraracingusa.com
what are my impressions:
well after the install and testing on my sportage all I can say is WOW. the suspension really tightened up and the body is more of a solid movement then before... its night and day from stock.

Special Thanks to Mike Barton at Ultra racing for sponsoring my car.

Hi!
Im relatively new to the forum thing, so please bear with me.
My front power outlet is not working. I thought the easiest thing to check would be the fuse.
So I pulled out my manual to see which fuse it is, but the only one listed in the box is the rear outlet.
Can anyone tell me where/what location the fuse for the front power outlet is?
Thanks bunches!

Being new to this forum, I thought I'd kick off with question / request for advice...
I have the 2litre 2WD Tucson, and although it is a generally decent vehicle, I get really frustrated with it's lack of guts. I live on a farm and the access road is pretty steep in places (no need for 4WD though) - with just driver, it goes up the hills no problem; with driver and 1 passenger it struggles a bit; with driver and two passengers it needs constant up-down shifting to keep the thing moving. In the latter case, it goes from wheel-spinning in first gear to almost-dying in second gear.
So, the question; is there any power enhancement / turbo conversion available that will boost the engine performance??
On the open road it performs reasonably well, but would benefit from that extra power for overtaking safely.
Ideas / info anybody??

An electronic component, that apparently replaces the old distributor cap. Hyundai says yes this can happen at any time to any car and blah, blah, blah and maybe you've got your bad luck out of the way now, and no we won't pick up the tab for your towing costs, etc.
The 2008 Tucson replaced a reliable 16 year old Colt. It was time for a new car, a nice new reliable car to last the next 16 years. A few bells this time, a few whistles, but hey, I deserve it - and this is going to be MY new car that I can trust because Hyundai makes good cars, and well I want to feel safe on the highway...even though my 16 year old Colt still drives like a charm, and has not cost me much in the way of repairs over the years.
So, I take my first long distance trip in my new safe, spiffy Tucson - to bond, since naturally I haven't had car payments for years, and this is a bit of any upgrade from my previous car, and well, I want to know it was all worth it...
So how do I feel now? After my Tucson lost power suddenly on the highway, and kept dropping speed at dangerous levels until thankfully I got it over into the slower lanes and finally off the highway...sputtering, and dying the whole way...
I've lost faith...they are fixing it as we speak, but how am I going to trust that car again??? And I am appalled at the attitude of the dealership; am I wrong in thinking it might be a nice gesture for them to pick up my tow tab?
The car is brand new. It has less than 3000 kms on it. Engines don't die on new cars!! That's not how it's supposed to work!
Ok, so they'll fix it, and I'll wonder when is it going to happen again? Every 3000 kms perhaps? There wasn't even a warning light, nothing, to warn me it was happening...to me, this has safety implications...one wrong move, and that situation could have proven deadly.
I am disenchanted with my Tucson, and even more disenchanted with the service people...nobody will ever convince me this is normal, and could happen to any car at any time...it happened to MINE, and I'd feel safer now in my 16 year old Colt...if I still had it!!
Anybody else out there had a really bad experience like this one?

The wife and I currently have (2) 2002 Elantras that have served us well. I will be keeping mine for a while but am considering replacing hers with either a Elantra Touring or a Tuscon 4 cylinder
Initially, in 2002, the wife had a Santa Fe, V6, and really loved it. She especially liked the "sitting high" attitude but didnt like the frequent stops at gas stations and the severe tinting in the rear windows as it was horrible trying to back it up at nite.
Just wondering how those with Tuscon's like their vehicles and if they have an issues they dont like.
Appreciate any input

Hello to all,
Bought my used Tucson CRDi 2006 4WD a few weeks ago and I just love the car. Have nothing really bad to say about it.
The fuel consumption is just excellent and the handling is awesome.
BUT now the Check engine Light has come up and has been lit for 2 days and then today it disappeared for 2 hours and went back on again.
How can I check what type of ErrorCode its all about?
I hope its not a major engine fault =(

I recently noticed a noise coming from the windshield (or windscreen for those who prefer) of my 05 Tucson GLS. It is a clicking/popping noise that is similar to the same noise as when a bug hits your windshield. It is apparent at all speeds, and is especially prevalent on bumps in the road.
Has anyone else had this problem? If so, have you resolved it? I'm thinking it may be something to do with the constant climate change that has been going on here in North Carolina, however, any input on this issue is much appreciated!

Hello,
I recently did a brake job on the girlfriends car and managed to cross thread a lugnut. I had to twist it off. Tried to replace the old one and could not get the wheel hub to come off after removing the cotter pin and castle nut. Tried a gear puller, however, all that did was to push the spindle into the CVJ boot. It would be the drivers front. How do you remove these?

I picked up my brand new Tucson 2.7 GLS Automatic only yesterday.
It is wonderful, far, far better than I was expecting, I am so pleased with it.............so far.
Imagine my horror whilst driving today when I saw that my Instrument Cluster did not include a temperature gauge!!!!!!!!!
I NEVER thought to look during my test drive or whilst looking in detail at a model that they had in the showroom, I just assumed it was there like it is on every other car I have seen....................including cheap Russian Lada's! [I am a British ex-pat living in Russia].
What is the reasoning behind its omission?
I have a temperature warning light on the dashboard, comes on when you turn on the ignition but goes out when running. How am I ever to know if there are problems in the cooling department, it's too late when the warning light suddenly appears?
Maybe it is for cars only sold to Russia but I would have thought that Russian-winters require such a warning that things are not well in the cooling department?
Perplexed,
Jeff Gordon.

Hello,
I bought a Tucson just 5 weeks ago and shortly after noticed the back of my thigh aching. I am quite a short man ( 5ft.5'') and have adjusted the seat in every direction. It seems to me as if the seat is a bit to firm and applies too much pressure on the back of my thighs. I have tried cushions e.t.c. but it is still a problem. This is not due to sciatica e.t.c. I'm thinking of changing the car because this is starting to cause vein problems further down my leg ( I have had varicose vein problems in the past ). Has anyone else in the forum had anything similar to this? - Do you know how easy it is to fit a different seat?
Thanks for reading this

I have a 2007 Hyundai Tucson. When letting my car run in the morning, I would like to be able to lock the doors with my spare keys while I go back into the house. Every time I try, the car automatically unlocks. I have tried using the remote key, locking the car by pressing the lock button inside the door, and manually locking the driver's side door, but it always unlocks. Does anyone know of a way to over-ride this feature?
Thanks!

There is a rubber tube that sticks out underneath my Tucson - near the the front center of undercarriage. I just noticed it recently. It drips water (water I think) after sitting for a while. Is this normal and is this just a drain for water from the engine compartment or condenser? I don't see it anywhere in my owners manual, but it sure looks like it is supposed to be there and is part of an original design.

Hello,
I have a question for all the Tucson owners out there. I have an 05 and the driver side hinge on the rear window busted today. I do not use the window often however today I opened it to throw something in the back and it popped apart and at the same time scratching the paint on the passenger side. Has any one else had this happen? and if so is it a common failure?

Hi, Newbie here so apologies if this has been asked before. I have searched and couldn't find anything though, so hence the new thread.
I have a 2006 2.0CDX petrol Tucson, love the car but have a new issue with it, I was wondering if anyone knows if it's a quick fix, or a trip to the dealer.
The external temperature display on the climate control is displaying 60 degrees Celsius permanently. It did this a few weeks back, but then worked as normal.
It then started again and would go between 55-60 degrees C. It's now stuck at 60. If there are any of our colonial cousins from across the pond thats 140 degrees Farenheit. I've been in that kind of temperature in the middle east, it is painful!
I would normally put this down as an inconvenience and not worry too much about it, but it has caused a related issue.
As the car thinks it's 60 outside, even setting the heating to 27 degrees, it blows out cold air. Understandable as it will be trying to get the temperature down to 27.
Anyone with any ideas?
Thanks in advance,
NoelT

This is an unusual question, but I have never used the MP3 feature of my CD player before in my 2005 Hyundai Tuscon. So I was all excited that I could get 135 selections on one CD and I made certain to put the selections in the order I wanted to hear them. Unfortunately, the CD player plays them somewhat randomly. It seems to organize the selections in groups call "ROOTS" (in this case up to 18 Roots) and them places the selections in each Root the way it sees fit. The "RND" (random) button is definitely not pressed. Also, this group of MP3 selections plays just fine on Windows media player where I organized & burned them. Is there a way to get the selections to play in the correct order on the Tuscon CD player, or is there something I am overlooking that is making this happen? The Hyundai dealership has no idea, and there seems to be no "technical support" department that I can call for assistance. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi we have a 2007 Tucson CRDi Manual 2l Diesel. It has 6 gears. Recently when travelling on the motorway in 6th gear for some time, we have encountered a problem when you come to a stop after this speed. Okay scenario, driving at 120kph for approximately 60kms, take our exit, slow down or come to complete stop at top of exit ramp and when you try to go in to a lower gear the gear stick wont budge. You have to shove it into gear and this carries on for at least 10- 15 mins after. Now if we just go on a short journey never going above 8kph or getting into 6th we dont have this problem. Any ideas??

Hello, I love my 07 Tuscon. The fuel I get is about 24-25mpg which isn't all that bad. I didn't realize I purchased the security package with the car. The dealer tried to charge me for it but I think it was because it was already installed.
My problem is that the system will go into alarm for no reason what-so-ever. My car will go into alarm about every 20 minutes on its own. Nobody tried to get in, nobody walked by it, etc. I first thought it was my keys in my pocket hitting the alarm button. So I took the only two keys and put them on the table. Still goes into alarm. Basically I have to lock the car from the door button in order to not arm the alarm.
Anybody know if there is a setting or some way to troubleshoot and find out what is causing the alarm? There's barely a description as to how the security system works in the owners manual. The only aftermarket thing I installed was about 2 years ago a trailer hitch with a wiring kit that had all the harnesses pre-terminated, so I don't think that is causing the problem but I'm open to some troubleshooting.
Any help is greatly appreciated. I may post this in the general forum as well because I do not think its specific to the Tuscon.

Anyone who is curious, I talked to a technician at Valvoline, he told me that Mercon5 is perfectly compatible with all Diamond atf which is used in Hyundais and Mitsubishis including Diamond atf Special M-11, they have tested and used it extensively in their fleet vehicles requiring Diamond atf. Just thought someone would like to know.

Hi everyone and especially Itza.
Finally sold my 2004 Tucson. No particular reason other than I was gettingbored with it after 4 years and wanted to treat myself after being made redndant last year. During my 4 years of ownership, I covered 66000 miles and it went in for a new clutch at 45000 which was covered by the warranty.
Haven't had that much to say on the forum although I was probably one of the earlier members and can remember the first couple of months when if I saw another Tuc on the road it was flashing lights and a wave.
I know I was one of the few who didn't seem to have a fuel consumption issue when a lot of the other forum members were getting pretty c**p consumption, but still got the ECU upgrade even though I didn't need it
Anyway, Got myself a Rav4 and at the moment I'm loving it. I will still be lurking on this forum, as my Brother in law now owns my Tuc (and he is chuffed to bits with it)
Thought you might like to see what my Rav fuel consumption is.

Actually, it has settled to 47MPG but this is what I can achieve on my runs to work. Not bad for a 2.2 diesel?

I was wondering if anyone has, or attempted to, install an adaptor to connect an ipod to the factory stereo? The only way I can figure out to connect it is using either a tape adaptor or a FM radio transmiter. Which both of those you lose lots of sound quality.
-Thanks!

Ok so i posted this on the elantra forum but no one has replied. So i figured coming over here since a guy in korea did this swap and just had to change the mounts a little.
What I'm wanting to do is swap my Elantra motor with a Tuscan v6 engine. or a Tib. I was wondering if this is possible? or if there is a kit i can look at or what i can do.
Please give your input I am mediocre with my Hyundai. but there are some things you will have to explain.
THanks

This is the audio media that came with my 2009 Tucson:

In the absence of an English Owners Manual any idea where I might obtain an Instruction Manual for the device?
I don't have the model number for the item and thus am unable to do a 'search'.
Thanks,
Jeff Gordon

Hyundai used the 2009 Geneva Auto Show to unveil the "ix-onic" - an crossover concept that will eventually become the successor to the Hyundai Tucson. Hyundai also plans to change the entry-level SUVs name to the ix-35.
This stunning concept car makes use of a turbocharged direct-injection 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 175hp. Possibly even more exciting is the fact that the crossover concept also uses a double-clutch gearbox with ISG (Idle Stop and Go) technology. Will we see either this engine or transmission in the production vehicle? We certainly hope so.
Some of the notable design features are the LED daytime running lights, 21-inch wheels and the hexagonal front grille. This grille is particularly important as Hyundai intends to use this strong design across its SUV range. In fact, the is-onic Concept will donate its creativity to the next generation Santa Fe and Verarcuz.

Hiya gurus,
I'm having a new noise coming from the steering coloumn area. It's a 2007 model.
It only happens when the car is warm and only when the engine is on. It seems to come from inside the steering coloumn and can be heard when you turn the wheel.
I've read of other posts referring to noise from the passenger side but not from the drivers side.
Could it be noise transmitted from the steering or even suspension (bushes maybe?)?
Has anyone else experienced this squeal from there?
Cheers,
Ben

hey all,
The wifey and I just bought a 2005 Tuscon GSL, love the **** out of it!! First vehicle we ever owned that has a moon roof.
Anyways, the dealer only had one key with one remote. So what im wanting to know, has anyone bought a keyless remote from someone other than the dealership and programmed it themselves?
i have one coming in from a seller on Ebay but i'll have to program it myself.
Side note: the car salesman told me not to purchase the remote from them, way over priced.
