For the past few weeks I have been trialling a tuning box manufactured by a German company ASA Autotechnik Saretz and I have compiled the attached report giving details of my findings. Should you want more info from me contact via a personal email and I will try to answer those questions posed.
A really special price to forum members has been negotiated with ASA Autotechnik Saretz who can offer a Tuning box, plus appropriate connecting cable complete and delivered to your door for an all-inclusive Special price of € 99 plus shipping costs of €10 to the UK. (A total of €109)
Members in other Countries should check shipping costs prior to purchasing but I have been advised that they will be as reasonable as is possible)
Please Note: -
This is a considerable saving on the regular ASA Autotechnik Saretz Internet price of €148 plus postage.
This is the best available offer on the Internet. Contact them by Email to order at
shop@autotechnik-saretz.de ENGLISH is spoken and understood.
When ordering please quote reference Itza/ASA ECO CR/Special Offer
If you have another vehicle that has any other type of diesel engine, ASA Autotechnik Saretz possibly manufacture a tuning device for that as well so contact them to see what they can offer you.

Hello to all

There are many, many topics on this forum about headlights, HID lights, fog lights, different ways of modifying running lights, brake lights, and more!
There are discussions about what is legal to use, and, what will simply upset all oncoming cars. This is about my search for more light, that is either completely legal, or, if not legal, it is impossible to tell it is not legal. I do not want to modify my wiring to do it, nor do I wish to risk melting any wiring either.
Many people have differing opinions about what is best. My best is simple, not too spendy, legal enough to never get stopped in Ohio, easy to do, and will not upset anyone when it's time to sell it.
The car is an 06 Tucson GLS 2.7L 2 wheel drive in the stock silver color. Stock wheels, and nothing special to look at.
My reason for different / better lighting is not so much about looks, but rather helping the guy behind the wheel to see better at night, and during poor weather.
Some basics you need to know before you start.
What size/type bulbs you have. What works on my Tucson, may not work on your Veracruz - you need to confirm before buying! Your Owner's Manual will give you some info, but this page will teach you everything!
Philips bulb selector siteOR this Sylvania site
Sylvania bulb selector siteThe key is to determine the 'size' or 'type' of bulb in each position you wish to change out.
I wished to change:
My headlights - brightest, legal bulb I could.
My foglights - from clear to yellow, and brighter if possible
My front 'parking lights' - from clear to AMBER (who ever heard of white parking lights?! - YUCK!!), and, if possible, brighter
My headlights are 9003, also known as 'H4' bulbs, and also as "HB2" - generally, get one of the comman names and you'll be safe.
My foglights are "881", and my front 'parking lights' are "168".
Using your favorite search engine, and by putting in a search string like " 168 bulb yellow" - you will find many different brands and styles to choose from! Be careful because, many sites will tell you that the 168 and 194 are the same bulb - sadly, not quite true! The '168' tip is straight, but some of the other bulbs have a 90 degree bend in the tip, or may be a different wattage!
Speaking of wattage... Two important factors here, generally more 'watts' means more light, AND, more heat, and more current draw through your wiring. So, unless you know what you are doing, or like to roll the dice, swapping out a stock bulb for a higher wattage bulb *can* be a risk! This is something to consider - many people tell you that you can double (the wattage) safely, or you simply need to put in a higher rated fuse - OK?! True, most of the wiring in my car is tougher than it needs to be for the stock bulbs - but *I* think it is because they (the car maker) want it to live a long and trouble-free life - and, who am I to mess with that?
I did go up slightly on my foglights however - but, they are not on all the time, they are on their own circuit, and not many will be able to tell they are not DOT legal for on-road use - as the Owner of the car, I choose to roll the dice on this one.
The headlights '9003' bulb stock is 55 watts lowbeam, and 60 watts highbeam, or 55/60W. There are many aftermarket bulbs that stay with the stock wattage. Some have different shades of white, some go to a bluish-white, but many say something like "+50%" or "+80%" meaning they provide 50% or 80% more light for the same watts used. This is LEGAL!!! And it will say right on the bulb case if they are "DOT approved" or not for on-road use, or off-road use only.
The Sylvania "SilverStar" is a well known and popular bulb (9003ST) and the "SilverStar Ultra" (newer and whiter) is 9003SU - these are what I have used in the past.
Recently I have found out about the Philips "X-treme Power"
bulb.
This bulb strikes me as the current best of show, and I ordered a set back on 08-28-09 and they just arrived today!
Whenever I can, I try to buy my stuff on Amazon (as I like shopping there), but I find I can't always get exactly what I want on Amazon, so then I need to find an outside vendor like the one above. Good knowledge on the site, great prices and selection, horrid shipping! No tracking to speak of - you get it when you get it...PERIOD!
For the front parking lights I bought some cheap $2.99 special no-name bulbs at my favorite auto-store. But, being me, I had to see if there is anything better, so for roughly $13 bucks, I got the PIAA bulbs - we shall see how different they are from the $2.99 specials...
For the foglights, I did go through Amazon, but from a different vendor that sells through Amazon - still, shipping not as good as Amazon themselves, but better than SUVlights!
Headlights - $39.99 plus $4.95 shipping - 11 days
bulbFoglights - $28.00 plus $4.25 shipping - 8 days
bulbPIAA front parking lights $12.85 plus free shipping - 3 days
bulbno-name front parking lights $2.99 locally.
Your Hyundai Owner's manual will tell you how to replace these bulbs, and, if desired, the proper way to aim them - the biggest caution I'd point out - DO NOT TOUCH the glass part of the bulb - you *may* put enough oils on it to shorten the life (I also wash my hands after taking everything apart, and prior to installing the new bulbs).
Personally, I believe yellow (amber) foglights do a better job than clear ones. I read a paper recently that stated otherwise. I have also read many old papers that agreed to having a yellowish tint providing better light in poor weather conditions. Only you can decide for yourself! Also, the *cool* factor of NOT having what every other Tucson Owner has is for me

Same reason for the amber front parking lights - it makes zero difference driving at night, but makes a GREAT difference (to me) sitting in a parking lot - same thing, makes mine a bit different.
One point to remember? "+%" type bulbs will have a shorter life than the standard bulb. How short really depends on how much you use your lights? In the past, I normally get 8-14 months before losing one, and as most all bulbs dim with age, I always replace in pairs.
One last point if I may? Generally speaking, most ALL automotive lighting is made by either Philips, or Sylvania - even HELLA does not make though own bulbs! So, buying a 'brand' doesn't really do too much for you in my book - the brand *might* SPEC out the bulb slightly different than the version sold by Philips or Sylvania - but it beats the no-name stuff all to ****! So, be careful of where or whom you buy your lights from!
I don't really consider this a 'mod' - but whatever, it's a nice safe, fairly easy change that can bring you great satisfaction if you drive a lot at night or in poor weather.
Below are a few images of the bulbs.

Hi all
I have managed to trial some pollen filters from a korean company who will provide them to all forum members at a really great price. I am as most of you know not emloyed by any of the products manufacturers of the items that I try out- I get a sample, test it and then try to give an unbiased opinion on it, then I negotiate a lower than normal price for forum members (I honestly do not profit at all by doing this).
Please read my write up and save yourself loadsamoney when comparing to OEM supplies. This company will provide filters for any make of vehicle if you want any others but will want dimensions and Lhd or Rhd details.
This is important Rhd models have different filters to Lhd Models so ensure you follow the right link when ordering (For Tucsons and New Kia Sportage)Pollen filters can be ordered by clicking on the http links provided by carfilterkor below
BUT PLEASE READ THE ATTACHED REPORT(Pdf) FIRST.
Note !
Please ensure you pay for the filter cost plus the $7.99 Packaging/Shipping charge as this will include a tracking number, so you will be able to track your purchase.
Thanks

On the Tucson, the time can be changed from the normal am/pm display to the 24 hour reading.
Example: 1.00pm can be changed to 1300.
To do this, you need to press the "R" button for 2.5 ~ 3 secundes (or untill the display changes).
So far, this feature is on the late 2004+ Elantra & Tucson only.

In my 2009 Tucson yesterday, I had a strange situation. I was outside the car, double clicked the unlock button on the fob and all car doors did indeed unlock EXCEPT for the front passenger door. What's even stranger is that I could see through the driver's side that the manual lock button on the passenger side WAS set in the unlock position (the red was showing on the button) but the door was definitely locked still.
I then hit the lock button on the fob, double clicked again and, this time, everything was ok. All four doors were unlocked.
Anybody experience this type of behaviour? This car is new (2 months okd, 3200k).
Thanks in advance.

I am replacing the factory installed Auto Dim Mirror with Compass, however, the wire color coding for the factory harness is different than that on the mirror harness. I need to know either the pin assignment or preferably the color code for the following wires:
Green - Reverse Wire
Black
White
Gray
Orange
Any assistance is appreciated...

Hi all,
Here's the scoop, just bought a used 2005 Tucson 4WD V6, and it's doing a couple of weird things. One is a weird vibration, mostly felt in the steering wheel but sometimes also in the whole vehicle...mainly on 'acceleration' and at 'highway speeds' (100km/h-120km/h). They told me they did a full 'inspection' of the vehicle prior to selling it so really there shouldn't be anything wrong, but this is driving me and the missus batty...we've only had the car 3 weeks.
Also, this one's odd...not all the time, there is an odd 'rubbing' sound that seems to be coming from around the passenger's side front wheel. It sounds like something is 'rubbing' when the wheel is turning, louder once per rotation. (shhhhTICshhhhTICshhhhTIC) But then it goes away...only to come back a day later or something...very strange.
Can anyone help me out?
Jason

Here is a weird one...
On a couple of occasions I have discovered rad coolant on my garage floor. The thing is this has happened once two years ago, and now twice in the last month, both times it has been after a maintenance, and both after a short trip (5mins) preceded by a longer trip (2-4 hours) the day prior to the leak. Otherwise I have no other indication of a leak.
Anyone have any insight to this?
Thanks.

So..first, the story of becoming a Hyundai owner...
I was moving from the right lane, of a four lane highway, to the left to let someone come on at an on ramp in our 2001 VW Golf and was moving over from behind another car and...bam!..there it was, had no time to react, and if I'd swerved back I would have hit the car I was passing.
There what was you ask...an Industrial sized...BREAD RACK!
I was lucky, if I hadn't caught it in the front corner of the car and it had hit it straight on, it likely would have flew up over the hood and into the windshield...I would have been lucky to come out of that...scary.
So I took the car to one of State Farm's 'preferred repair shops' and they said it wasn't drivable, even though I'd been driving it for hours. (Their process is if it won't pass safety inspection it's not drivable)
Well...the claims office called...they were potentially going to write off the car. They've already accumulated $7K in parts/labor on a 2001 VW Golf, values I can find online range between $5K-8K for a comparible vehicle...it was not looking good for me getting our car back and I wasn't sure how we can afford another one.
Well, got a call from the claims office and they really surprised me with what they offered us for the car...$8394!
So we'd been looking for a couple of days now, and my wife has always wanted an SUV which I've been resistant too but...
Now the next step...
2005 Hyundai Tucson Limited Edition
Nautical Blue, Heated Leather, Power Sunroof, V-6, 4WD, Fog Lights, Stability and Traction control with ABS brakes, 4 new tires on alloy wheels, new timing belt, heated power mirrors, heated windshield, cruise, keyless entry, power windows, etc.
Asking price was $11,900, and they knocked off another $1000 for taking it that night.
So we put $8K down, bought an extended warranty, and financed the rest.
Now my question...
The dealership says this is a "Limited", the Insurance is saying its a "GLS", online I can't find Limited I can only find "LX"...how do I know for sure?

It looks like my 2.0L takes a 124-R3. The battery cables connect in a strange way with what looks like a bolt/nut combination, not the ordinary side clamps or top post mounts. Is this a Hyundia special connection that needs a new part or something at battery replacement time? Also, anyone have a April or Nov issue of consumer reports that lists ratings of batteries? I cant find it online and my local library has all this years issues except those two. Thanks

2006 DIESEL TUCSAN
The problem is simple!
Car starts normally when cold.
After reaching normal operating temperatures it will not re-start --or starts momentary and dies.
If you disconnect the electrical connector at the temperature sensor near the water intake--- the cars starts normally after a good puff of black smoke.
Hyundai repeatedly talk to us about "porous blocks" but I cannot see any connection with this problem.

Just got a 'new to me' Nov 2006 Tucson CRDT CDX 4WD. 29,000 miles, Full Hyundai Service History - Looks lovely! All seems great apart from....... washed the car by hand today and noticed that at the top of BOTH rear doors on the top corner closest to the front of the car, both have what looks like a 3-5 mm patch of discolouration of the paint (solid black paint by the way), like when you have a pinprick hole going through to the metal, and the paint is reacting to the metal. Have had it on older cars, just before rust appeared. Am not that bothered about it as it is now, but it isn't going to get any better, and the paint is only 3 years old. What is it going to be like in a few years! Am going to take it up with local Hyundai dealer as a warranty issue soon-ish, but just wondered if anyone has similar experience?

I recently purchased a 2009 Tucson Front Wheel Drive. I upgraded from the 2008 Elantra. I was assured by the dealer that this vehicle was my next best option in my price range in terms of getting something that was better than the Elantra in the snow. I've already fallen in love with the vehicle. Does anyone have experience with this vehicle in the snow? I was told that it would be much better. I don't have to drive in a lot of snow, but I do live in a hilly neighborhood now so I was concerned with making it up the hill and making it down without sliding into someone else's parked car. I feel much safer in this car as opposed to the Elantra. Is there anyone out there that can put my mind at ease in terms of this being better than the Elantra? Thanks!

Hello colleagues,
I am addressing to you because I have a serious problem with my car model Hyundai, but also with the company, which is the general dealer for Hyundai for Bulgaria. I want to inform you about the impossibility for my car been repaired, although still it is under warranty.
Please for assistance, ideas and solutions, if anyone has similar problem, please contact me for comment.
Already five years I am customer of The company and I am paying lease fee for my car Hyundai Tucson and just before the guarantee expired, my engine was damaged.
Official Hyundai dealer for Bulgaria, Industrial Commerce Ltd. told me that I have to drive my car to their service as it is under warranty and they will repair it on their behalf.
I did it what they told me, and after they opened it realized that the problem is bigger then they expected, they start to seek way to deny the warranty. They base it on the following: I have twice surpassed the mileage of oil change and this is the reason for their refusal of the guarantee, before it has expired. Both cases, when I was overdue, I've been out of Bulgaria and I was inform their service and ask them where I can change oil abroad, in order not to run times out. I was assured from their dealer that this is not a problem and on his advice it is better to make the change in their service when I get back regardless the overdue.
Now, when found that the engine has serious damages, they do not want to repair the car, citing these two defaults. The dealer, now denied, and I have nothing as proof it. So, they are decline to repair the car under warranty as it is, and I must bear the cost of repairs.
So I ask you, my colleagues, whether it is possible to guarantee their license is valid after the two defaults, and do not refuse to take my money for their expensive maintenance services, but now, when I need to be repaired the defects arising in the warranty period, they refused me. They get so far that even threatened me that if I bring the case against them, they will bring a counter action for derogate from their reputation.
Is it possible to treat an accurate customer who five years has paid regularly like that and had correct relations with them? Is it proper to refuse to fair and regular paying customers, when they need to perform repairs? If you fell in a similar situation, please advice and help me to resolve the case.

Hello......a new Tuscon (2009) owner here. Vehicle has about 600 kilometers so far.
I noticed on the way to work this morning that smoke was coming out the exhaust--not alot but it was visible. The temperature was about -3 Celcius (about 28F) and other cars didn't have that happening.
Is that normal on a Tuscon? Should I be concerned that something isn't mixing properly (can you tell I'm not a techy?

) inside?
Thanks in advance?

Have only been on the KIA forum but there is very little traffic and it's not much help. My thought is the Tucson and my 2007 Sportage are very similar so i'm hoping to get some help here. Just 3 weeks ago I had the brake switch replaced(I got the recall letter)and at that time my ESC OFF light was coming on. Had the work done and thought everything was fine until yesterday. Now the ESC OFF light will come on again but it will also go off so something is going on.
My vehicle is a 2007 Sportage with the 2.7 and 4WD and autotrans.. Mileage is 46K. Now I can't believe the brake switch is the problem again and I heard this was also a big problem with the Tucson so I need some advice on what could be the problem is. I put a code reader on(use to be a rural mailcarrier-did most of my own work)and it showed no stored codes. Any idea's? Thank You very much for your input!

My 05 Tucson 2.0L idles at 1800 when its 1st started and the temp is below 40F. This is quite high and it takes several minutes for it to slowly step down to 1200 rpm where I feel comfortable putting the auto in drive. The dealer is telling me this is normal. Any other 2.0L owners out there tell me what rpm they see at start-up below 40F? Thanks.

Sometimes I cannot open the vehicle with either the remote or the key on the driver's side. I am forced to use the key on the passenger door. By turning the key twice in one direction, the passenger door will unlock. I must then lean across the vehicle and unlock the driver's door.
Any ideas? Thanks

during heavy rain, passenger side gets soaked.
must also leak during lighter rain because the air handler (hot, cold, fresh, recirc) has an awful mildew and mold smell.
saw a comment here but nothing as specific as a TSB.
anyone else have good info to track this down and get it resolved?
thanks

I drive an 08 Tucson in the Philippines. Right from the start I noticed that the lower door panels, plastic I think, are picking up dirt during wet weather and I can't get it off with normal washing or use of solvents. I don't want to get too aggressive in case I damage the paint work. What can be used to get the dirt off? Can I have these panels painted with something so that they can be cleaned successfully afterwards. Also my local dealder is fairly insistant that I have my alignment checked every 10,000 km. The first time it was done I didn't see any wear on the tyres and the car was not pulling. However I went along and ended up with two badly worn front tyres. Comments? Suggestions?

I Have A 2005 Tucson, Great Vehicle, With A Somewhat Annoying Issue.
Much Cold Here In Ct & Recently I Have Had The Inside Windsheild Frost Up Completly, Not A Drop Of Frost On The Outside.
Have Tried Turning The Vent Controls To Floor & also Shutting It Off Completly & It Still Happens
The Only thing I've Done To The windsheild Is To Rain X Every Couple Of Months It In The Warmer Times

In Advance For any Ideas/solutions

It originally had the very low quality Hankook Optimo H418. It simply is a cheap tire. It was "H" rated which meant a stiffer sidewall and stickier rubber which meant higher rolling resistance and lower treadlife(I had to replace them after 28k easy miles). I now have Yokahoma Avid touring which are much quieter, handle better and my mpg has went up about 1.5mpg if my calculations are correct and it holds. 4 new tires were $385US total and has made the vehicle much more fun to drive. I'm simply amazed at the difference between the low end OEM tire and a quality built one. I imagine any quality tire would show a similar improvement.

Hello, and I hope someone can tell me what this is. In the last month or so it sounds like something (lots of somethings) are rolling around above the seating area in the roof. If you push on the material on the roof, you can here the crunching sound. It's starting to drive me mad! Is this a common problem for the 2008 Tucson? Can it be corrected? Would it be covered by the warranty? I have had the car since March 08 and I'm the only owner.
Thanks for any and all help!

I have a bad squeaking noise in the front end when turning and when going over bumps or holes. I bought it used and don't have the maintenance information for it. It's a 2005 tucson with 35,000 miles which I've had for about 8 months. I know I need new tires if anyone has seen some good deals out there. Thanks!

Hi,
I bought a new new Tucson City SX on the 16th of December and it makes a loud sound in third gear
at +- 2500 RPM.You can hear the strange sound here:
http://www.youtube.com/user/seanudal#p/a/u/0/DEN9Xz1oumIIt will have its 1000 km service tomorrow however I would love to know what would cause this.
My other car is a new Getz and it is excellent.
I am sure Hyundai will sort it out, I am just curious as this is a first for me on any car I have bought.
Cheerio

Hi,
I have a 2006 Hyundai Tucson 2.7 4x4 which I like very much. It just turned 61,000 and I have been told I should replace the timing belt. I really dont have the funds right now to do that, would anyone know how critical it is to do this at 60,000 miles or do I have a little more mileage before I should do this?
Thanks.

I was in an accident where I rear-ended the person in front of me. The damage to my car was so extensive that the car had to be totalled. The car did what it was built to do and absorbed the impact and the entire front end folded up like an accordian but the airbags DID NOT deploy. Anyone have this experience? Anyone know what the criteria is for when an airbag deploys.

I just got a hyunday tucson last week.I just love it but yesterday was the first day of big rains and I seem to have a problem of water projection on the windscreen. The road was a little flooded, only a little on the side and the water kept being projected on the windscreen, so much that we were losing all visibility sometimes. It was so dangerous. Is it normal? I's a driving hasard... help any body???

I recently noticed a noise coming from the windshield (or windscreen for those who prefer) of my 05 Tucson GLS. It is a clicking/popping noise that is similar to the same noise as when a bug hits your windshield. It is apparent at all speeds, and is especially prevalent on bumps in the road.
Has anyone else had this problem? If so, have you resolved it? I'm thinking it may be something to do with the constant climate change that has been going on here in North Carolina, however, any input on this issue is much appreciated!

My Radio doesn't seem loud any more. I used to get great sound with it.
I think something must of changed since the last time I did a major service at the dealer.
If you look carefully at the Digital screen it looks like the "Loud" option is not on.
My Elantra has this feature too and it makes a big difference.
Does anyone know how to enable this on a Stock 2006 Tucson 2.7
Thanks
