Hi all,
Does anyone know wher I can get a decent set of owners manuals of the 2005 Tucson here in the UK?
I have seen on the WWW somewhere that they are available in the USA for $110 (or thereabouts) but I have been recently quoted £ 170 +17.5% VAT here in the UK.
Would the USA manuals be appropriate for UK models?
btw .. I am expecting to get my new black Tucson next month.
Thanks
Steve

Did you know that......?
.....When you use the keyfob to lock your Tucson by remote control, if the indicators don't flash then your Tuc is trying to tell you something is wrong!
I was confused because when I unlocked again, the indicators did flash, so I locked it but they didn't flash like they normally do.
I checked the sunroof which was partially open, but that wasn't it.
I checked around some more and discovered it was trying to tell me that the bonnet was not fully closed. It had become part opened when I got out of the vehicle rather quickly/carelessly, and the toe of my shoe had caught the bonnet release lever.
Clever eh?

I was wondering if a dealer will be more likely to care more or give "better" service for any Tucson warranty issues if the car was bought AT that dealer....
is this the case?
From my reading it seems you can bring a Hyundai to any Hyundai dealer for any possible warranty issue, but I was wondering if you can expect different levels of service considering where you bought it.
What say ye??

I've read conflicting reports, that the AWD vs Fwd have different passenger/cargo capacities, etc...
Some people have said it's 860lbs-(AWD)jesus, that would be VERY low.
Last I read a Fwd had 1282 lbs capacity. It said you subtract 200lbs for gas and fluids, then subtract the drivers weight.
So for a 200lbs driver ithe Fwd V6 has 882lb.
Any idea if any of this is accurrate and if the AWD has a different load capacity?
TY!

When will the NHTSA(whatever the abbreviation is) or IIHS(insurance industry test?) do their tests?? The Tucson has been out for approx. 8-9 months & people have had to go on faith as to how crash worthy it is.
Anyone have an idea when they might do these tests or why it's taking so long?

Hi there,
Just wondering if anyone knows the invoice prices in Canada. We are considering a GL V6 Tucson - not sure if we're going to go 2WD or 4WD yet. The MSRP is $24,865.00 for the 2WD and $27,145.00 for the 4WD. Any assistance would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Hi,
I see some vehicles have a "Rollover Sensor"(2005 CR-V) which I understand activates the airbags if a rollover is detected.
The Tucson seems to have EVERY safety feature under the sun except this.
I understand it takes a certain level/direction of force to set off a given airbag(s)...
I wonder if in a Tuscon rollover it's possible that some airbags you would WANT to activate might not...
Any expert insight out there re this topic?
Thank you!

Hi Everyone. Has anyone had their Tucson's automatic gearbox changing gears, when turning right?

Well mine dose. We've just done 2000Ks and have discovered that when cruising along at any steady pace (55-60 or 80-90Kph or whatever) that a turn to the right will induce the gearbox to change down a gear. It's very strange. Once the weight shift from the turn has gone she’ll change back into the right gear. The gearbox hunting between 3rd and 4th had always concerned me, but we hadn’t noticed that the gear change happened whilst doing a right turn. I'd taken the car into the dealers to express my concerns about the weird gear changes. I waited an hour whilst the car was looked at. Predictably the diagnosis was that, "it's only the torque converter locking and unlocking" “it’s normal for that to happen” and that they’d taken one of the other Tucson’s from the lot for a drive to confirm this. Well it seemed a bit strange to me that the torque converter was doing this no matter what speed. You’d expect that sort of thing when moving off and when the gearbox is changing gears, but not when doing a steady speed. I took the car home, but on the way I worked at repeating the symptoms. What I discovered was that the gearbox change downs, were only happening when a right turn was initiated, or if the weight shifted to the front left, as when going down a hill with a slight right turn. So back to the dealer to show him what I'd discovered. The story changed after another test drive. The mechanic was driving and yes he admitted that there did seem to be a problem. He said he would contact Hyundai and make enquiries. Anyway that was 2 days ago today he rang to ask if we could bring the car in for a diagnostic after the Easter break. We will be going away on a 1200K trip over the weekend and I was hoping to have the problem rectified. I’ll just drive in manual mode until we get the problem sorted. Anyway this will be our first long distance trip and we are looking forward to it. Apart from the gear box thing and a FC figure which is still a bit high the car has been excellent. I got some “Thule Roof bars” for our trip as we will be taking a couple of surfboards with us. Got the bars direct from Thule Australia as the Hyundai factory bars are $150 more than the price direct from Thule. I only waited 3 day’s for delivery from Sydney to central Queensland, not bad at all.

Hi All,
Just got our new Tucson on Friday we love it. Only one small problem so far and that is the Airbag warning light keeps turning on.
We took it back to the dealer on the Saturday (the next day) and they had a look at it and they said that it was a loose connection and should be fixed now.
Unfortunatly this has come back again. (It's only monday now, 3 days after pickup from the lot).
Let me start by saying I am not complaining as I know there are bound to be the odd problem as cars are very complex machines these days, and I am also very happy so far with the response from our Dealer as they want to help get this resolved ASAP (We have it booked in again for Wednesday this week for a full inspection as Saturdays are only a half day for them and they are very busy).
I was just wanting to know if anyone else has had any faults like this as it may help narrow the issue down to a particular problem.
Thanks in advance for your advise.

My wife had a good scare, while driving straight on a back road the esp locked up the brakes[/B] and stopped the vehicle (very hard) , this happened 6 times till she saw the esp light come on the dash and then she turned off the esp to get home. This is scary and now she is scared to death to drive it. Has any one else had this happen???? I just picked up the vehicle 5 days ago. has 322 miles on it and she does not want to drive it anymore.
Anyone have any comments ????????

Hello there
Here in Denmark, we can buy cars as vans. When we do that the rearseats is taken out and the window control is disabled for the backdoor windows.
Does anyone of you know where the "cut" is made, is it in the fusebox, in the doors or where ?
Kind regards

After running in for some 2,000 k's I tested the Tucson V6 offroad and found the results very satisfactory for beach runs, deep sandy trails, and rocky trails. The only thing to be aware of is the vehicle's limited clearance. Briefly, the results were:
Sand 1: 22 kms along the beach from Cape Le Grand to Esperance (Western Australia) - only hazard was deeper sand on exit at Esperance, but the auto trans kicked down and the vehicle chewed through with ease. Note: Much of the beach run was done in front wheel drive only to maintain reasonable momentum and fuel economy. Full time 4WD was only selected for suspect sections. Tyre pressure was not reduced, although this would have been necessary for contimuously soft condition.
Sand 2: 20 kms along tracks of soft sand ploughed up by heavy duty offroaders. This was the most difficult work for the Tucson (and the driver!) as it necessitated straddling long stretches of cavernous ruts. This was not always possible as native vegetation made the track narrow. In several places the Tucson had to be carefully navigated through these ruts, and on each occasion it got through without running its belly on the sand.
Rocky trails: Dead easy. Just a matter of careful driving.
Fuel consumption: On sand, my calcs show about 16 litres/100 km. So far on standard roads 50/50 urban, country, I'm averaging 12.45 litres using premium petrol.

Hi all,
We bought a new Tuscon a few months ago. We've been pretty wrapped with it so far! Last weekend we travelled the Alpine Road in Victoria (as Apline as we get in Australia to any European readers!). We managed to find a few tracks to take over the top of the odd hill, mostly gravel for around 50 km. The Tuscon crusied along nicely on the gravel and through the odd rut without a hint of concern. My only tip is keep the sunroof closed so the thing doesn't fill with dust! The car has just tipped over the 7000km mark and I'm getting 11.2 l/100km on the last fill up. We averaged about 12/100 over the Alpine Road and on the gravel. That's on normal unleaded too. Here's a pic on top of one of the hills. Enjoy.

Hi Everyone, I am from Queensland Australia and have been searching the web for any and all information that I could about the new Hyundai Tucson.
I Finally found the best place for the info I want, right here.
It's been about 6 weeks since I began researching and finally My Black, 2.7L, Elite,Tucson is home, well 6 days ago now, and we "Love-it".

We have just clocked 900K's. The Fuel consumption is down to 16.2L/100K's, or 14.52 mp USGal, or 17.44 mp Imperial Gals. I know It's got to get better. The first day with only 60k on the clock the trip computer was showing 21L/100K's!. We Love the ride ,the handling, the quiet, and the room. The kids love the sunroof!. The only thing we are concerned about, is the way the auto gearbox seems to hunt between 3rd and 4th with only a light throttle position? Is anyone else experiencing the same symptoms?. There may not be a problem it's just that we've not experienced this before in other automatic cars we've owned. Sorry for Rambling on.
Peter

For crash results, see
http://www.hwysafety.org/After reviewing side-impact crash results, side-impact and curtain airbags significantly improve passenger safety, so why aren't they even offered on the Hyundai Tucson in Canada? Note, however, that in an SUV you are less likely to get killed by a side impact and you don't need to be too concerned about dying from a rear impact. Note also that there is no evidence to support any claim that ABS brakes improve car safety! Also worth noting is the fact that small-SUVs are about as safe as mid-size cars.
Accident deaths by accident & vehicle type (All crashes, 2003 figures)
Frontal: Car 49%; SUV 43%
Side: Car 36%; SUV 20%
Rear: Car 5%; SUV 5%
Other (rollover): Car 10%; SUV 32%
33% of all people who died were aged 25 or under
So in an SUV you do better in frontal and side impacts but watch for those rollovers!

Hi guys & gals
I am thinking of purchasing a new Tucson 2.0 CRTD GSI Auto.This diesel version is supposed to give a decent mpg. The reports I have been reading on this forum in respect of fuel consumption have been very negative. Has anyone got this vehicle? Is the mpg truly that poor? If so I may change my mind a buy another vehicle.
Thanks for any information.

I've driven the Trajet 2.0 for almost 18 months and now the Tucson for slightly more than a month. I do not really expect any outstanding performance from Hyundai cars, especially when it comes to fuel consumption.
My Tucson performs satisfactorily and has no complains (so far). *But* there is one thing that I cannot accept - noise, *unwanted* noise. Komoco is unable to detect where the noise is coming from. Hyundai Korea did not reply my complain email. This is very unexpected from a company and distributor that aims to sell as many Tucsons as possible, given the good previews and reviews todate.
The noise seems:
- to be coming from underneath the vehicle;
- sounds like hard surface knocking;
- definitely vibration as it happens only at slightly less than 1000 rpm
- the vibration is intense between 2500 and 3000 rpm;
- happens either cold or hot, loudess at mid-day;
- no sound when stationery;
I compared my Tucson with another similar model and found the same noise, but much louder than what mine does!
There are other surprises, too:
- auto-lock does not make sense;
- power window remote switch does not work;
- under-carriage Tuff-Kote sprayed onto rims;
Sigh ...

Hello,
Does anyone have the Side Vent Visors on their Hyundai Tucson?
I've never had Side Vent Visors before and am curious if there any negatives to having them? Like wind noise? Does it affect your visablity at all?
I haven't seen a Tucson with them on either so... it has to look awesome too or I won't get them.
Thanks

Hi pals ,
More or less i ve read every tucson message displayed over here and it really promises to be a great car as most of the owners i feel are happy with their choice . I am still waiting to own 1 as is hasn't been launched in my country yet but it is about to !
However ,i would like to ask the current owners dat dont they feel tucson is too small (espically its length) , when you consider its only 4325 mm long , i mean if you go by its length it seems as if it is even smaller than even some of the midsizers , is it really worth buying , keeping its small length in mind and what about its visual presence , i mean does it really gives you the "BULKY" look(very necessary) in an SUV ????

Hello everyone. I bought my new Tucson on February 1, 2005. The dealer had 3 top of the line to choose from and about 10 other with 4 cylinder and V6's. Really like driving the vehicle. A little hard on fuel but I only have a 1000km on it so far. Did alot of pricing before I bought and it was about $6000 less than a Honda CRV.

Hi just introducing myself. I live in Canberra, Australia and you could put me in the young seniors bracket age wise. Retired, I got into serious 4wd vehicles and owned 2 Nissan Patrols, one dual fuel and the other a 3.0ltr diesel. After some expeditions my wife decided she didn't like the rough roads or the camping. So my pet Patrol was traded.
Ordered a white Tucson Elite (Aussie Specs) on 14 September 2004. Delivery Time was stated as 6 weeks. Finally arrived and delivered 29 January 2005. December build date which annoys me. I would have rather waited another month and got a 2005 build vehicle.
Just say here that with almost a 1000km I'm extremely happy. First reasonably long trip will be taken in a couple of days. Look forward to contributing the the Tucson forum in particular and interested to see whats happening to other owners.

Hello everyone
I live in South Africa
I have owned and currently own Hyundais and they are great cars.
I drive a 1996 Rav4 3 door 2litre manual and am trying to decide whether to go for the new Hyundai Tuscon 2.7 v6 Auto. My driving is mainly urban but i need a comfortable SUV for the long photographic trips we make into the Kalahari....this is not hard off roading, but rather sandy gravel.
Can I ask for some of your experienes that will help me decide.
1. The Tuscon in South Africa is marketed with a small spare wheel which is no good when one is already off road. We have checked that a full size spare will fit but this will cost extra as a complete wheel and and tyre have to be bought, and one loses the shelf at the back.
2. I cant find any reliable fuel consumption figures on the V6 2.7 auto
3. The reason why I am looking at the Tuscon is that it offers more space than my Rav and more comfort and its smaller than the Santa Fe and a lot cheaper than the Rav 4 5 door
Any helpful comments would be appreciated

Hello,
I'd like to hear any opinions on how important you feel Side and Curtain Airs Bags are on the Tucson.
The reason is because here in Canada the Hyundai Tucson does NOT come with the Side and Curtain Air Bags. However the Kia Sportage does.
I know the Sportage and the Tucson are pretty much the same SUV.
But... my dilemma is I like the looks of the Tucson much much more than the Kia and I feel the Hyundai maybe better built.
But with the Tucson not coming with the added safety of the Side and Curtain Air Bags it really has made my decision very difficult.
Any comments would be appreciated.
Maybe Hyundai will start to offer the Side and Curtain Air Ba
