Re. OEM standard fit tyres - Hankook K415 (H rated) 175/60/14

Those of you who have been here a while will know I have Goodyear "All Season" tyres fitted to my i10 Auto. I fitted them immediately after taking delivery of my new car therefore the standard fit tyres have covered the grand total of 30 miles from new and have been stored (in the dark) since I swapped them a little over a year ago.

As it's an automatic the tyre size is 175/60/14 (as opposed to 165/60/14 on the manual (and they're H rated, rather than the T rating on the manual). I'll probably ask around and/or advertise them locally and/or use Ebay to sell them unless anyone on this site wants them. I'll sell all four (no splitting) for £125 including courier delivery (with CityLink's Next Day Parcel service) but I have never sent tyres before. When I bought the All Season's by post they came two at a time....two tyres wrapped together with cling film, but I'd like advice from anyone who has sent tyres regarding the best way to secure them together and affixing the label so it doesn't come adrift. They are a funny shape and the label isn't as easy to secure as a box! Maybe duck tape (duct? tape) or parcel tape?

The cost of sending the two parcels varies a bit but is around £25 for the four. tyres....the tyres at 6kg each and 55cm by 55cm equal 2 parcels each weighing 12 kg each and measuring 55cmx55cmx38cm each.

Anyone ever done that before?

I see that MyTyres sell the same tyres at £216 for 4, delivered, so it seems fair that I'd sell mine for £125 delivered...

Thanks in anticipation.

(PS. Anyone actually interested, please PM me. I'm in the West Country if anyone is local and, of course, no delivery charges.....but please, no offers - I'll sell them but as they have only done 30 miles, I'm not giving them away).

Up on the lift, the wheel felt solid so I moved on to check other components. The strut which was pretty obvious, as well as an outer tie rod end, but my biggest concern is the CV shaft is loose in the transmission.

Replace the transmission? Or can this be somewhat easily serviced without transmission removal?

We just traded in our 2010 GLS AWD for a 2013 GLS AWD w/ nav package. When I paired my phone during test drive, I was excited to be able to use the radio/steering wheel controls over bluetooth. I exclusively use Spotify for my music, and that never worked on my old SF even with the cable. It would always try to force the iPod app. I would like to use the wired connection for better quality, and album art. When I use my apple iphone cable (iPhone 5) i can usually select spotify on the phone and it will play and show the correct info on the screen. If i try to change tracks on the head unit, or the steering wheel, It always reverts to the actual iPod app on the phone and usually plays the first 5 seconds of a song from there repeatedly. Sometimes this behavior starts the moment i plug the iPhone in. Is there any way to prevent the stereo from hijacking 3rd party audio back to the iPod app?

What's up everyone! I plan to get a bigger crowd this year. I also plan on having the meet up at a bigger, much bigger location. The past couple weeks I have been doing my homework to find a meet-up location. A place where we could drive and test our cars without worrying about traffic, a place that we could have miles of fun, and a place with a nice scenery maybe by the water...where else but an "out of service" Airport location. That place is Floyd Bennet Field. It's in Brooklyn, It's free!(During the day time). At night we will need a permit but I'm planning on having the meet up around 2pm-8pm. Saturday June 29th. I remember last year when I was scheduling the meet-up in LIC I only thought about Sonata NF/YF but this summer I plan on making it bigger by inviting Elentra's, Accent's, Genesis, and Azera's. For the next couple of days I'm going to try to PM lots of Hyundai members from NYC/NJ/CT this Post.

Get the word out!

Here is a video on YouTube of the location, @ 2:25 is the start of the precise location I want the meet-up.

I got the shipment yesterday..

Problem:

1. The 3M tape they provide is not good enough to stick. I mess up a couple of time, pull it off, and it won't want to stay anymore, so I have to go and buy some 3M.

2. The kit come with a module, it call Control Drive that hook to the LED. Ther is tree wire coming out....One + (red), One - (black), and one is ACC (White)

If I hook the red to positive and black to negative on the battery, it lit up, but it won't shut off. What is the white cable? Do you guy know where it goes to?

Here what I want, I want DRL LED on when my low beam is on, either setting in AUTO or LOW BEAM. And off when low beam is off.

Any help will be appreciate.

Hey everyone,

Looking for an opinion. This morning my spouse called that the check oil light came on in her 2011 Sante Fe 3.5L.

I had her check the dip stick and she said it was dry and so she is going to tow it to the dealership.

The only thing I noticed was a faint oil smell last night, however it went away quickly so I put it off as the vehicle in front of us. Additionally, there have been no indicators of oil or liquid stains on the driveway.

Unfortunately my spidey sense is tingling due to the fact that at the last oil change, we also had the winter tires changed off. When we got home I found that a bunch of the lug nuts were loose (one tire was wobbling) showing the person was not really paying attention or rushing. I worry / wonder if perhaps they neglected to refill the oil.

It's been approximately 2000km since the oil change (mostly highway).

Getting to the point - is there any reason the oil level should indicate empty when no other issues appear afoot? Is neglect more likely a cause? Thank you for the feedback - just want to know some thoughts for the discussion I need to have with the dealer.

Hi all,

I've had this problem since I purchased this vehicle (ex demo)
2 dealers have done wheel alignments and still no go I think its a fault with the electronic steering I'm having a so called technical rep look at it in the next few days. I've read about this and its a known problem on the sonata range.... Are there any other i40 owners out there having this issue?

Thanks

One of the features I was looking forward to on my new i30 was the cruise control. However, the first time I used it at 120 kph it was surging continuously, so much so that your head rocked backwards and forwards. It was worst going downhill and occurred at various speeds above 100 kph. I had the same problem on different occasions and took it back to the dealer. Apparently it was solved with a software upgrade but I haven't been on a long trip since to test it. Perhaps someone else will have experienced the same problem.
