2007 Entourage power sliding door troubleshooting

We love our Entourage...it now has 89,000 trouble free miles with just a few minor issues. Here is one:

the left Power sliding door will not open and close with the remote or interior buttons.

However the door does work perfectly fine when using either the interior or exterior door handles. I see two cables that actuate the latches when the handles are moved, but during key fob or interior button actuation the door starts to move then reverses I do hear a relay clicking the in PSD module in the rear cargo area, so a signal is getting there.

My troubleshooting so far indicates that the hold open latch and close latch are not releasing, and therefore the motor load stalls and reverses.

I suspect that the actuator in the PSD is not working, but there is nothing in the alldataDIY manual that provides and troubleshooting other than hook up a computer box to the system that I do not have.

Any input on this subject would be appreciated. Thanks!

Door not open with switch, but open with manual handle --

Replace the small electric motor in the door controller (black plastic thing that the cables attach to, has interior door handle on it),, be carefull, had couple where replace the small motor not work,, the gears inside the controller were broken, so you replace the controller

Door opens fine,, then when closing, it gets almost closed,, then open right back up ---

Replace the PSD module for the offending side,, one on each side, behind the rear panel on each side.. may consider doing both, be done with it.

There is rear door latch recall for both power door and manual door, they get new latch.

Thanks for the advice! When I get back home after the holidays I will let you know how it turned out. It will be easy now that I know how to get the interior door handle off. . Took me forever to find the clip!

Please take note of what sbr711 just told you --- ( red font ). There was a recall on these doors and the dealer should fix the issue you describe for free. I had mine done this summer.

Recall will not do anything for BUM controller or PSD modules.. it is only a straight up latch replacement.

I have never received a recall notice, nor is there anything on the NTSB website. Do you have a recall number I can reference? I know there was a Service Bulletin on this as well. My experience with dealers has not been very good so I shy away from them doing work. When I have done this fasteners are missing, have to take it back etc. a big hassle and when I do it myself I can do it on my schedule, not theirs. . Last time I had it in the Service person tried to sell me on services I did not need according to the documented maintenance schedule. When I showed her the schedule from the owners manual she said she had never seen it!

sbr711-- hi we are having both issues that you mentioned on our 2007 Hyundai Entourage driver slide sliding door. The power sliding door works when using the overhead power button, the outside handle, and the FOB button, however when trying to push the close button on the door, our door will not close.

In addition, for the past few days we have had off and on issues of the door closing until about 6 inches and then it backs up and tries again or backs up and stops.

Do we need to replace the small electric motor in the door controller or the PSD module? Is this something that we can "do it yourself"?

I replaced the small motor in the sliding door module and the problem is fixed. Took me about one hour and $15 for the motor. Works like new!

---> Replace the PSD module for the offending side.. in most respects, replace both sides

Do we need to replace the small electric motor in the door controller or the PSD module? Is this something that we can "do it yourself"?
Replace the PSD module first, the closing to 6" and bounce right open gives this away.. Need to remove the rear lower inside panel to find the module at each side.. get them done, then go from there..
