Dear painter,

The EASIEST way is to take it to the dealer and have them do it.

But I think you wanted to do it yourself. You need to remove the external drive belts, the upper and lower timing covers, the crankshaft pulley and you have this picture>

Sorry bud no easy way to replace crank sensor on your sonata, its deep in the timing belt! you might find that
the ballance belt may of came apart an took out the crank sensor. it happens! my rec. is to also replace timing
belt, ballancer belt,an timing belt auto adjuster. hopes this helps!

I have a similar issue and me and my friends have replaced the crank sensor but when we took the old one out, there was some confusion of which direction the magnetic side of the sensor was facing. We put it all back together yesterday and it wont even start now (before it was starting but would die after a few minutes). Im thinking we might have installed it backwards, just want to try to clarify before i put everything back together, or if the new sensor might also be bad.

When we put it in yesterday the "magnetic" side was facing away from the motor.

Thanks
