I have the 2013 Santa Fe Sport T, and would like a little more of a deep growl out of the exhaust not obnoxious loud bit a deeper throat to the exhaust...
On my Murano, I installed an aftermarket muffler...Flowmaster 80 series which gives a nice growl without being obnoxious or unbearable. If you can hit any local muffler shop in your area, they can give you an idea of some options or routes you can take. Let us know how it turns out and good luck!
On thread 13 in the first YouTube video you see the CEP on I think because there is no catalytic converter installed. That is another reason why it is so loud and sounds like a Civic fart can exhaust. And without the cat, would it not fail the vehicle EPA/safety check?
The drone noise on the highway would be terrible!
IMHO
On the video, it says the system includes a downpipe n catback exhaust with resonators... Basically the downpipe eliminates the stock catalytic converter.... The key here is that to make certain adjustments on the PCM to reflect the bolt-on upgrades, n make sure u meet the emissions requirements.... Changing the catalytic converter doesn't necessarily mean it'll automatically fail the emissions, a high-flow option or downpipe can still make the cut with proper tune....
A properly designed exhaust can be free flowing AND quiet.
I have dropped the rear chromed resonator and the sound barely when up at all. So I put it back on. The main muffler is under the passenger side ahead of the rear suspension.
I wonder how it would sound with with the cat on, a filler pipe instead of the muffler and the rear resonator?
Personally, I like the CP-E better, it has the growl when it's idling... Buschur sounds a little fart canny....
The problem with the Santa Exhaust is not the muffler, actually the muffler is pretty solid, n does not have a lot of sound/flow restrictions... We even have 2.5" piping I believe, out of the factory.... The problem is the humongous resonator.... I mentioned it before, it's a 3'X1' - 60 lbs junk... That is what restricts the flow n sound.... Just look under the front passenger side....
If you want to hear something that will actually sound like your 2.0T you need to listen to either the Optima or Sonata users. The Genesis 2.0T is way different than your 2.0T engines. Check out the exhaust clip from MDJAMMIN. He had everything from CP-E on his 2.0T Sonata
Hope that they'll come up with some systems for the Santa Fe too... They got a Quickpower pipe, which basically eliminates the stock resonator on the Sonata I believe (I'm not familiar with the exhaust system on the sonata, but I assume the resonator is a lot smaller than the Santa Fe)... The resonator certainly restricts the sound, especially on the Santa Fe.... Honestly, the muffler is not too shabby on the Santa Fe....
I wonder if he does also have the downpipe, didn't mention on the video... Surely it'd make more of a difference both in performance n sound....
If you are willing to drive down to them and let them have your car they might be interested and seeing if they can bolt any of their products to your car or make slight modifications to make it happen. I would think the downpipe and the midpipe would probably fit, but the catback wouldn't. I would email them if you are interested. My old 2012 Sonata had all of their parts on it as well and I met everyone who works there.
Thanx for the advice, I actually e-mailed them Hope that I'll hear back soon, I wouldn't mind driving down to MD!!! It would be a nice road trip with the Santa Fe!!!
off the topic of sound, have any of you guys changed the single dual tip to a dual dual tip as in quad tip (two left, 2 right) like on some models ive seen online? we dont get that in Oz.
im thinking of cutting bumper and getting the dual outlet made.
I would recommend the Jun BL system, I think Import Shark has one on their website.... I checked it on different vendors (i.e., KAI, Shark Racing), n Import Shark seems to have a little better rating overall... But eventually, u r dealing with middle-men, so expect some issues.... I've seen a lot of horror stories about people ordering stuff from these vendors.....
I basically kept the dual tip/single pipe exhaust, but switched the mid-muffler... Honestly, this would give u more sound than switching the end-muffler.... The mid-muffler causes a lot more restriction on the sound .....
What u can also do is simply go to a muffler shop, and ask them to cut n weld two straight pipes and buy two muffler tips (options are limitless, u can go with any manufacturer)....
Oh n rather than cutting the bumper, I would also recommend asking ur Hyundai dealership to order u a diffuser from a LWB model SF.... They do have the dual exhaust pipes, n it would look a lot cleaner IMO....
haha yeas Mrs would love to be stranded with a flat tyre and no spare....not really an option, I will get under it again and see if i can reroute the 2nd pipe, or have a dummy dual tip setup? not sure...mayb jsut be upgrading the single sided dual tips to round 3" and extend them out more to not cover my black bumper in black soot.
i hate to say it, but you bought a 4cyl, and thats not the right engine for a smooth, performance-sh, exhaust tone. the engine simply doesnt push enough exhaust air to really make for a smooth sound. no matter what pipes or cats or muffler you use, its going to sound like a rice-racer, honda civic fart can.
and even if you could get an "american muscle" tone, you'd look like a total poser: an asian suv, sounding like a dodge hellcat. lololol.
i have a feeling you are going for that nissan/infiniti tone, and it simply wont happen. at least not without some serious, serious intervention.
i had the g37s coupe, 6speed manual, rwd and it sounded amazing. it sounded rich, and not fart-can like.
