Hello all! Just picked up my 2013 Santa Fe Limited a few days ago! Loving the vehicle so far.

Question: Are there any recent navigation updates to download? In my line of business, I rely on navigation and noticed that some maps in certain areas are not up-to-date.

Thanks for your help!

Good luck on that. I offered that and no go, but I bought it all anyway. They add shipping to it as well. It arrived, but absolutely will NOT install. You can't get tech support on the phone. I am so fed up with what should be a user install. The instructions on the website that you can download for the 2013 Santa Fe do not mention an authorization code. I called ahead of time and was informed that I would get a USB stick as well as the SD card and this would prompt me for everything. Clearly no one knows what they ware doing.

I did the V7 ($99 version) update and was told that their were problems and they were going to be fixed and I would be told about it and get the new fix, but that never happened. So I emailed the company yesterday and I am waiting to hear back from them. I will let everyone know when I receive an email back.

What is the latest NAV system version for the Santa Fe Sport? Just purchased a 2014 and want to make sure it has the latest version when we pick it up in a few days.

The car we bought was on the lot and by the looks of it it had V7. Should I be looking for V8 or V9 when we pick up the car?

Thanks. The original page showed pictures with a Pandora icon. They have since removed that image and replaced it with one w/out the Pandora icon. I ordered the update then noticed right after the icon was gone and called instantly to cancel the order and they said they would, then a few hours later I get an email saying it shipped. Going to have to call them Monday and have them recall the package.

So, the cost of the V8 update is approx $216.00? what a rip. Seriously, wished they went with a google license. Much better mapping
I won't even use my mapping anymore after this weekend getting bad directions twice. Finally just used my google maps
Maps and Waze are way better than offline GPS navigation, specially Waze which is constantly updated by it's userbase, caches the area wherever you go for the first time, and updates it when needed to save bandwidth.

The best part, they are and will always be free.

That it just has the new buildings streets etc lol are you kidding me... I want the new update. Anyhow, I want the new update so what is it that we have to do?

Ok, so why can't someone purchase the USB copy it and seed it on a torrent site. i don't understand.

Few things,

The authentication code. It appears that people are purchasing the USB and not really giving their Vin numbers or anything. If you go to MNSOFT. Some one needs to test this out... There is no way that this is tied to a VIN for a unit update. I think they ask for the VIN to make you believe that its tied too it. That would be pretty stupid that each vehicle as specific unique software. Which does not make sense, too much time and money for them to waste time. Someone needs to copy the flash drive and give someone their authentication code. I am sure it will work. All vehicles have GPS, but it does not have a TRACKER or a SATELLITE to send them information once the code has been entered. Just a thought since I am an IT guy.

I received my SFS today and the Owner advised me not to update until 2 years. He does not want to give me the update for free that is why. However, No Asians have tested this method come one.... Someone, anyone???

Its a Secure Digital card

To answer to part of the question below. The other cars use an SD card, made so a company can completely hid information on that card. If you copy the card you only get a small file. The SD card hides completely the real database:
They must have something like that on the USB, plus they ask for you VIN. I bet that has to match your car VIN to install.

<<<< The access to the DRM encoding Equipment for SD cards is limited to those buying a license, so I would suggest you Contact the SD Association for purchasing a license: http://www.sdcard.org/

This DRM protection can perform a challenge-response type of authentication Before allowing access to the content on SD-card, which will be transmitted encrypted. Preferably, your GPS device then contains a "smart card chip" containing keys, and your map SD card will communicate with this chip to create a encrypted channel. Then you could generate symmetric keys using a secret algoritm using the GPS device's serial number + a secret master key as input. The master key is only stored in your production Equipment.

When a customer wants to purchase a map, they will have to specify the GPS device serial number, and then they will be sent a SD card tailored for that GPS device. >>>>

Sooooo they made something that companies like, that's why the CD and other forms of maps are not safe.
WHY they did not make the POI a separate, used replaceable item that is free. Of course, if the POI is on a road that maps does not have, or a road that has changed. That can make for a interesting find. My wife's car got a Ver 10 for free over the summer. I was not able, but we both got Ver 9.5 versions as I complained our NEW cars came with old GPS software. We were paid back the money to order two 9.5 versions.

I don't see how Pandora would work from the screen... someone has to pay for the wireless connection (all the time) and the data you would use streaming...
Unless it's an APP that talks to the phone. Then you are paying for it but you might get a screen on the GPS matching what would show on the phone ?
You pay to have the Hyundai auto start, and Blue Link by the monthly fees after the first two years ? I don't want the Blue Link after the trial.. that's why I have a GPS or cell phone. It also depends on the costs.. can't tell the price as the web site won't allow you to buy more then 24 months at a time.
It did add $67 for extending the Blue Link for a year.

I have a 2012 Santa Fe and have the same issues. I have checked online and found, so far, the dealership can update your GPS but it will cost upwards of $200. For that price I can buy a Garman that shows where I want to go every time.

If there is another way to update, please let us know.

I am an expat living in China and I bought a Hyundai Elandra 2015 model made in China. Unfortunately all menus and Navigation system is in Chinese. Is there any way to convert them to English ??

Your help will be greatly appreciated.
To be honest, I do not know. Language support seems to be limited. It may be geographically limited. Hope you are able to get help with it, though. Is there a Chinese reader who could help you?

Not wanting to start a new thread . . . I took advantage of the Black Friday sale and downloaded the 10.5 version for my SFS. There were some interesting things to happen.
1. The download process requires Windows . . . will not work on a Mac.
2. The download process took four tries before it finally downloaded. I thought it was because of the internet connection but then I noticed the first three times that it timed out, I decided it wasn't because of the internet connection.
3. The website said to use the card that came with the system. I had upgraded using version 9 and that card would not work. There were missing or broken blocks on the card that would not read, so I ended up using a different card.
4. The SDHC was a SanDisk 16GB I had purchased a year ago and it worked like a charm. The second time. The first time, Windows decided it needed to have an unexpected error and just die.
5. Finally got the mess, I mean process completed and inserted into my head unit. The upgrade process went smoothly, no problems. My preset channels on AM/FM, and SiriusXM were wiped out but the Bluetooth connection was not. Neither were my addresses.

Taking a trip from El Paso to Prescott, AZ tomorrow, so I will let you know if any weirdness comes up. V9 was a great update from V5.5 that I had been using. Looking forward to this one. And the discount of 10% made the difference for me.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I updated our system today. It took a while to download the new map database and install it on my existing SD card. No issues or false starts with the entire process. I reconfirmed my wife's iPhone was still Bluetooth paired to the car. I then confirmed there were no issues with Apple CarPlay. Some observations:

1. The Sirius XM station logos reverted to those that existed when the car was new. The logo for the station we listen to changed several months ago. I'm sure it will revert to the new one the next time we back the car out of the garage.

2. Update installation steps 10 (2nd stage of installation) and 11 (agreeing to the safety disclaimer) did not occur per the guide. Once the system rebooted after step 9 ("update complete") the home screen returned to normal. I checked and confirmed the installed map database version number matched that designated in installation step 12. I zoomed out and scrolled the map and all was normal.

3. There is now a search box on the full map screen.

bummed

Hi,

So I'm bummed. I got my 2016 Santa Fe Sport brand new in August 2015. I had asked at the time if Carplay was going to be available and the salesman said they keep hearing it will be soon. I had been talking to mapnsoft regularly too and they confirmed the same when 10.5 comes out. So 10.5 comes out and I look and don't see a mention of Carplay so I call and they say that I should talk to Hyundai. I do that and Hyundai says this car will never get Carplay, the head unit isn't compatible with it. That stinks.

So then I call back mapnsoft and ask what version I'm on and find out I'm on v8.5. How can I buy a car in 8/2015 and it's on the maps from fall/2014?

Has anyone been successful in getting a free update? I'm thinking it's probably too late now.

Can anyone tell me what has changed from 8.5 to 10.5? The mapnsoft website really does not do a good job of detailing this. I think they should have a detailed change log as each new version comes out. I'm thinking unless it's something major, I'm not going to spend the $169 until I start to have problems.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Good morning:

The changes between 8.5 and 10.5 aren't huge, at least in terms of the overall system. There are no extra options, just refinements. The biggest changes, though, are to the maps themselves. 10.5 has better shading for elevation and terrain (which to me was a huge surprise), but the best thing was the refinements to the roads. 8.5 was missing a huge number of fairly new roads (within 10 years) plus changes to existing roads (like flyovers instead of roundabouts on a nearby spaghetti bowl). There are way fewer alerts from the system. On 8.5, my 22-mile drive to and from work would include multiple dings and call outs about where NOT to go. Now, those have stopped. The traffic signs are also more specific and look like their physical counterparts.

If I had to make a comparison, I would use a person preparing their favorite dish and then tweaking it to get it just right.

That said, the overall system feels slightly slower. Maybe it's just me, but it's like the times I've installed a newer iOS to an older iPhone. It still works just fine, great even, but is ever so slightly less responsive.

And my one real gripe is that the system doesn't learn. But in fairness, Apple Maps has only recently learned to give more efficient directions . . .

If you can get it on sale, I say go for it. At least having up-to-date roads is worth it.

Call Hyundai and ask them why your "Brand New Car" has a very old version map. That's how I got two for my cars. The numbers from the GPS do not match the Version number. They number them differently. GPS Ver 8.47 is (Version 9.5) was way improved, especially in how it showed exits and other displays. Then my wife's car got a free update to 10 over the summer, I didn't. Not much of a difference from 9.5 to 10. I think the highway signs were improved, showing the exact signs rather then standard exit signs.
P.S. Each car has a different GPS version, a 2013 Tuson GPS display of 08.12.14 means Ver 10 of the map.
Santa Fe Sport GPS display NA.09.47 is Map 10.5

I will agree that it's sad that the 2016 head unit can't do carplay. Heck, my 2014 Pioneer head unit could do Carplay. But then again, the 2016 Ford Edge with Sync3 can't do Carplay either without a $100 USB port upgrade kit. So maybe that's what happened to Hyundai. Poor planning on Ford and Hyundai's part, especially if Pioneer could get it working 2 years earlier, IMO.

But at least it's a *little* easier to replace the head unit in the Hyundai. If you had the 2015 Ford Edge or earlier with MFT, then you were kinda hosed because Ford put the climate controls into the MFT system itself (ugh).

I do not remember a Black Friday sale last year or the year before but that doesn't mean there wasn't one; could be I didn't have the money or desire. That said, the only real sales are generally right before a new version is set to be released; they will discount the immediately previous version by like $40-50.
