Question Odd seat belt loop

Hello, I just got my 2013 Santa Fe Sport, 2.0T with Tech on Friday. So far I am loving it! I was driving a 2007 Santa Fe Limited that my son is now driving. After leaving the dealership, I noticed a loop on the front passenger seat belt. It is a loop of seat belt material, stitched in place. None of the other belts have this. I have not been able to find any information on this. Has anyone else encountered this? Belt is completely functional, but it looks very strange. I faxed pics to my salesman today but haven't heard back yet.
Thanks for any help!

Yep! Ours has this so I am pretty sure it's intentional. My first thought is that it was designed to give some cushion in a crash, though I can think of better ways to do this, and it doesn't seem like it would only be on the passenger side.

It seems like it may let adults that are heavier fall farther forward in a crash.

Garage
It is to stop the buckle from rattling against the B-Pillar when not being used. Driver's side does not have one as it is always in use (or should be) when driving.

Just checked it out closer...it was an inexpensive fix to what would have been a buckle redesign otherwise. It could be unstitched and have a similar buckle stop added to what is on the driver's side. However, some lawyer would object.
