thanks for info guys.
Yeah the dealer wasnt willing to deal on the tires, i did manage to get a pretty good price on the car and have the rubber mats thrown into the deal.
I wont be buying the winter tire package from the dealer. im thinking to pickup the hubcentric steelies from Costo ($50 per rim) and will then try to find the cheapest place for the tires.
For my summer car (infiniti) i bought tires from discount tire, but unfortuately their winter selection sucks. i checked Tire rack and their pricing is not bad, but after factoring in shipping on the xi2 and ws70 i think i will be saving abt 100-150 only. Might try to have the tires shipped to a place near the border, lets c.
Costco only has the Xi2 rite now that i would want (would want the Ws-70, but it seems costco canada doesnt have them in my size), so that could be another option, im still searching.
BTW what 17" winter tire size would you folks recommend. The dealer said go for 235/65R17, but most of the tire places are saying 225/65R17 is recommended.
Compared to the 235/55R19, the 225/65 has a 2.29% difference, while the 235/65 is only having a difference of 0.58%.
so not sure y most places are recommending 225/65.
For the rust proofing, the dealer wants 599 and he claims that its a foaming type susbstance that will be sprayed on the complete underbody, trunk, doors and the usual areas...im skeptical especially since its a one time application and they will not reapply until year 6. The only appeal for me here is, the car will be delivered with rust proofing and dealer is covering life time warranty against rusting.
ill look into Rust check, not a fan of the krown methods (drilling holes and dripping oil)
Thus far the only additional item im taking on is the "hyundai comprehensive extended warranty upto 8 yrs"...
